The packet pickup was at Popstroke, located at TownSquare on Thursday between 3:00 - 6:00 P.M. I had a family member pick up my packet for me since I was at a local conference. You could also pick up your packet on race day at 7:00 A.M. This time, the race was held at Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex, located off of Summerlin Parkway/Durango exit. There is plenty of parking available. The race start and finish line was at the same location, which was great! The first thing that stood out about the atmosphere was how much this event focused on being community based and family oriented! Because the overall mission behind this event is to celebrate Moms in our community, the atmosphere was amazing! There was Kona Ice food truck, face painting, PopStroke (mini golf) and more! I thought the actual race was great as far as organization goes. Signs were clearly posted everywhere, and events went off on time. It was hot though! The race started at 80 degrees, and by the time I was done, it was 90 out! Some of the 10k runners ended up just running the 5k and getting their time adjusted. The race path at Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex was not flat. It went uphill for the first two miles, and then downhill. After the race, there was a single flower provided to all Moms and a race medal! There was water and a electrolyte drink as well. Snacks were located in a tent, away from the start/finish line. There was also awards for top finishers in certain brackets! It was a great run though and a wonderful event!

This trail begins in Summerlin and the plan is to end at Blue Diamond or beyond. Phase five is still being analyzed. This is a multi use trail for walkers, hikers, wheelchairs and cyclists. This will keep people safely off of SR 159. A great way to enjoy the beauty of Red Rock Canyon. Parking for the first phase can be found directly across the street on the corner of Sky Vista and SR 159. Check it out!

First time here…read more Club Waka Monday Night Play on Courts 2-4 Sand was nice, Court 2 had a few rocks that were coming up but not terrible. Nets were in great shape, the lights illuminated all the courts and surrounding areas so it was easy to see everything. Excited to play this season and on the courts!

Even going just one exit too far takes you all the way to Arizona. - Parking was a disaster with one person pointing where to turn in to a field with gravel and shrubs but no one directing cars to actual rows/spaces. Hopefully no one got a flat. - Considering the price of the race itself was ($45) I was annoyed to also have to pay $10 entry fee to the park, cash only (but they did mention this ahead of time). - Disliked how the course started with an immediate incline, and ended with us facing directly into the sun (downside to an out-and-back route). Not ideal for the finish-line photos, either. Despite the drawbacks (mostly related to the location), I would participate in this event again. Hopefully some of these simple organization strategies could be implemented to make it a more enjoyable time for all. As a personal pet peeve, I would do away with allowing strollers on the run. I saw two fanatical stroller parents almost mowing people down, and others having to stop repeatedly forcing traffic to go around them.

The Punta Serena Resort…read morewhere the retreat was held had everything you could ask for - a beautiful infinity pool, two hot tubs perched next the ocean, amazing views and healthy, delicious food. It was the perfect location for a blissful getaway to unwind and relax. But don't get me wrong, it was a lot of hard work to practice two ninety minute classes a day working on breathing, postures, form and endurance. The yoga room was equipped with plenty of heat, mats, towels and water. In addition to an amazing view of the ocean, there was always fresh fruit and juice waiting for us after class. We were treated to healthy, delicious meals throughout the day, and although we had the option of eating at other places, we decided to eat mostly at the resort because it was so good and the staff knew what each of us liked and were really sweet about accommodating our requests. I can't say enough good things about the retreat; but the kind, hard-working staff is what truly stood out for me. Everyone from the massage therapists to the chefs to the servers were angels - and Jose, our concierge hooked us up with anything we needed. So, the one suggestion I have for someone going to Bliss would be to bring plenty of cash for tipping, laundry (available on site!) shopping and more!

It's been five days since I've returned from Bruce Kessler's Hot Yoga retreat and I'm still in…read morebliss. The week-long journey in paradise will renew one from the inside and out, mentally and physically. The yoga, accommodations, and cuisine are top-notch and the epitome of a five star resort. There isn't a better way to start each day than a morning yoga class in a heated room, on a hillside with a panoramic view of the ocean on the Bay of Tenacatita. The room is heated perfectly to 105 degrees and 40 percent humidity. The yoga is comprised of 26 poses with two breathing exercises. It's suitable for beginners to advanced practitioners. Bruce is an amazing teacher as he is attentive to each guest, providing ongoing suggestions for improvement and positive feedback. You do a second class the same day in the afternoon. Doing two classes a day was quite challenging the first few days, but you'll get accustomed to it mid-week. I've seen immense further depth in my postures in a week of practicing with Bruce. Punta Serena is the resort where the retreat is held at. The ocean-side villas have spectacular views and you'll fall asleep each night with the sound of waves crashing in your front yard. The villas are clean with the grounds well-kept. There's plenty of fresh towels and spa-like amenities in the bathrooms. There's a private beach just steps down from the villas, an infinity pool (perfect for taking a dip in after each class), and two jacuzzis perched overlooking the Bay. And you get one free thirty minute massage during the week's stay. The food served at the on-site restaurant is a highlight of the retreat. You'll have access to The Buena Vista restaurant for breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks, and dinner. All meals are included with unlimited access to the open bar after 6pm. Bruce coordinates with the staff of the restaurant to provide a variety of juices and smoothies, along with 3-4 different types of salads with each meal for the retreat attendees to nosh on before ordering an entree. One surely gets pampered and fueled with the freshest greens, seafood, and meats. There wasn't a single meal I had which I wasn't satisfied with. I'd definitely return for another week at Hot Yoga Bliss Vacations. It's the most rewarding treat one can give themselves. My mind and body are still thanking me for it.

The Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery is part of the National Wildlife Refuges (according to blue…read morebook). You can get your Stamp at the Visitor Office, speak to a Ranger. It is a self-guided tour of an active Fish Hatchery (unless you arrange a tour). There are some info boards throughout (could be more). There is a small parking area for just the Hatchery visitors which is convenient. They also have restrooms available that are clean & stocked. It is an interesting walk-around and see all the fish that are being raised.
