I had exhaust work done there. If a blind man was learning how to weld his welds would look better than what was paid for. Both of those people that work in there are absolutely terrible people very ignorant, disrespectful and way overpriced. A different. Velasquez took care of the whole exhaust because that Velasquez on 1915 N. Broadway is a terrible business. Stay away from there. He thought it was OK to have three different pipe sizes for my exhaust when the total length was about 7 feet of exhaust terribly underqualified. read more

STAY AWAY, dishonest, unbelievably awful customer service and overpriced. The associates took more than an hour for a simple AC recharge and charged more than the Jefferson location... they breathlessly insist you pay cash (they refuse refunds.) One of the guys there, what seemed to be the manager, was talking sh** about a few of the customers in the shop in Spanish, i guess he thought i didnt know the language or he just didnt care. If you value your money do not take your car to this place. Their prices are way high and the manager or the main mechanic "Mario" he is very unprofessional uneducated he doesn't know how to talk to people and when you tell him that the job that their were supposed to do correctly is wrong he gets offended. I had previously taken my car to another place and they gave me and estimate of a job that it was going to cost me $180 muffler and flex pipe, but I wanted to check a 2nd estimate So I took my car to Velaszques mufflers and the main mechanic told me That they were going to charge me $160, So I decided to have the job done with them. After I have paid for everything he told me that those $160 was only for the flex pipe and not for the muffler. If I would have known this before I would have save me a headache with this guy. read more

Do not take your vehicle to this place they never call you back and they take days weeks even months to get your vehicle repaired I paid this facility $1200 for parts they kept my vehicle for a whole month and never fixed a thing I kept calling for that whole month finally they told me my vehicle was ready when I went to pick up my vehicle I paid the remaining 1500 to find out that in less than a week my vehicle was having the same problems. it is now June and my vehicle is not fixed. I call them every day and they tell me the same story. It will be ready by Friday, we will call you, it's a huge runaround they don't want to give me a refund so I can take my vehicle somewhere else. DO NOT TAKE CAR THERE!!! We called for an estimate on brake lines, told us 250$ (give or take a few bucks) had vehicle towed there and 2 days later called us and said 840$..... he wouldn't fix the brake lines unless we got all new everything!! So we bought all the parts and did it ourselves for 300$ and took us about 2 hours!!! These ppl are rip offs!!! Ohhhh and also we told them to leave keys in car cuz we couldn't pick car up until after they closed and we said "DONT LOCK KEYS IN CAR CUZ ITS OUR ONLY SET" and what did they do?!?! The place in Crest Hill doesn't open at the time posted and they don't answer the phone. I called the day prior to ensure that they are opening at 9:00 a.m. and they told me yes, but they didn't open at 9:00 a.m. I have gotten work done with them in the past and it wasn't bad work. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could. We took my car in to get the catalytic converters fixed. It took them almost a week to complete this and on the last day they called and said the oxygen sensors were broken and needed to be replaced also. We accused them of breaking them and they said that whoever had broken them taped them back into place. I have had my car for over 3 years and never had the catalytic converters replaced so I don't see how anyone else could have broken the oxygen sensors inside them. They made us pay to have them replaced as well. When I got my car, the next day my check engine light came back on and my car started making the same noise again. My dad took it in and after about 15 min they told him they had taken it for a drive and nothing was wrong. My dad had been watching out the window and my car never left the parking lot. They went back to look at it again and he said he fixed something and the light had turned off. A few days later the light came back on. My dad took it back and they said the part was recalled and they need to replace it. For the past month we have been trying to get them to replace it and they always have a new excuse on why they can't. This place is VERY unprofessional and dishonest. read more

STAY AWAY!!! Beware...These people are crooks. They over charged me to fix sensors on my car. I took it in for a check engine light. They had my car that whole day July 3rd. I went to pick it up after they called saying it would be one price then called back and said 169 dollars more and to bring cash. I took them 930.00 dollars. My car still had engine light on. I asked them why and they said they forgot to turn it off. the 4th my light came back on I took it back on the 6th. After that they have had my car for 2 weeks all the way until 7/16 when I had enough and went to get my car. They first told me it was scanner issue and they were waiting on a scanner. Then they said it was a EMC box all in all it still was not fixed and they told me to pick my truck up until the part comes in. When I picked up my car was smoking and jumping. Took to another shop where they looked at the paper work and said I had been over charged for one and secondly they placed cheap sensors that did not fit my car. With all that being said he is reordering the correct parts and going to work on it and write the paperwork for what was done. This shop was very mean and disrespectful to me. I had to have my father or another man talk to the manager because he was very rude to me or would shoo me away like I was bothering them. They had my car for 2 weeks. I had to rent cars, use others cars, and take days off due to this and all this shop had to say when I picked it up, was, your keys are in the car we will call you. Not to mention they never called once while they had my car for 2 weeks. Very rude and disrespectful. No respect for women. read more

I cannot give Velasquez a single solitary star. I had my vehicle towed there on 2/10 after it wouldn't start. It took them until the morning of 2/14 to give me a diagnosis. Every time I called they told me they "THINK" its electrical but they do not have a definite diagnosis and don't want to tell me the wrong thing. When they did have a diagnosis, after I told them I would tow it to another shop that could fix it, they told me they replaced the battery and terminals which I didn't authorize and that was the problem they found. My battery was new and under warranty so I told them to remove the battery and I would get a new one from the auto parts store. I paid them for changing the terminals. When I went to pick up my car and started it in the parking lot it cut it off it wouldn't start back up. The owner jumped my car in the parking lot and told me to get a new battery immediately, well I did and my car is still not working. Before leaving I asked for my old parts back and it took them 15 mintues to find them. I am skeptical it those are even my car parts. I called to discuss the problem with the manager and he told me it was electrical and they don't do that type of work. They should have told me this 4 days ago. They just wanted to make some money off of me. My car is still not working and I have wasted money. Now I need to find a new auto repair shop. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will continue to call and ask for a refund. read more

This is the worst car mechanic that I have ever seen. To make a long story short I spend over 1000 dollars to get my car fixed. 4 items total. Well my car is still not fixed completely 5 months later. I paid so I keep going back. I went to him 4 times with the same issues and he spoke to me like I had no clue about cars. Maybe I don't know as much but if my check engine light is on and I know the cause because I did the test at autozone - and I told him what was wrong! He supposedly replaced the parts ?? So why does my check engine light continue to going on after 3 weeks of driving same code! Every time!! Folks this is my first review ever and I felt obligated to share this. I am very frustrated I don't have time or money to keep leaving my car for the 5th time now at his shop. He did not do what I paid him to do. I paid $120 for 50c clamps they used for high pressure transmission lines. Another mechanic I went to afterwards could not believe the butcher job they did. This shop also replaced the muffler. Couple days later I start getting check engine codes which I found out later were all about malfunctioning exhaust system. I wouldn't trust these guys with mowing my lawn. read more

The manager's name is Mario and I must say he and his team are a well-oiled machine when it comes to being dishonest. Every time I take my car into his shop it comes back in worse condition than it was when I took it there. Whenever I point out the issue that they caused (ie.. broken or scratched up parts, and even missing parts), they lie and tell me it was like that when I brought it in or "We didn't touch that part of the car." It's always an excuse or lie to cover up their wrong doing. I sat in his shop for three hours today waiting for a blower motor repair, when I finally asked for an update on my car they were surprised I was still there even though they told me to wait while they looked at it. Then Mario told me that he called me and left me a message, which was a lie as I told him I been in the shop for the last three hours and my phone had not rang one time. I had no missed calls from the shop and no voice mails from him. He was caught in yet another lie. So as I went to get in my car I noticed that my brand new climate control unit was scratched up and the stickers were torn off of the radio. If that wasn't enough I went in to have the blower motor fixed and now the climate control unit is broken. I asked him to replace the broke part and he and all his mechanics claimed they did not do it and they weren't going to fix anything. So now I have to get the original problem fixed as well as the new problem created by Mario and his mechanics at Velasquez. I would not recommend this shop to my worst enemy. You will always lose in the end. I should have learned my lesson the first time when I took it in and they lost my engine cover but against my better judgement I wanted to give them a second and, unfortunately, a third chance. This was an expensive lesson to learn so to any one reading this please learn from my mistake. Do not do business with the Velasquez muffler shop in Crest Hill operated by Mario because if you do, there is a good possibility that you are going to lose a lot of money fixing their mistakes in the end. read more

I will NEVER bring my car to this company again. I had work done and my car ended up with scratches and no one can tell me what happen. One of the receptionist in the morning time said that Mario would look at the cameras to see what happen. When I sari I would be by in the evening to speak with him, he then told me maybe it was the tow company. What happen to viewing the cameras? Mario then told me it would take a couple of days and that I should file a claim. Really?!?!? Why tell me to file a claim if you didn't do it. I thought he forgot to replace the missing part but when I went back to ask for it he denied it and no mechanic had touched my car after him. I would not go back there. I took my car to this shop for a simple tune up. When i received my car back, there was a horribly loud noise that was obviously not there beforehand. I went back to let them know and the technician came out and tried to lie to me about breaking the EGR valve and EGR hose. Eventually after fifteen minutes of arguing with this technician, he admitted to breaking them but said that "they were about to break anyway". I understand that some parts can break while performing jobs on cars but they completely failed to mention that they broke the parts when i picked the car up and they were going to let me drive it in that condition. They would not reason with us and kept arguing with us so that they could get us to pay for their mistake. I really needed my car to go to work so in order to get it fixed, they made me pay for the parts that they broke. On top of that, they stated that they would not know the cost of the parts until they were already ordered and had came in. They were dishonest and then refused to give us a quote on the parts prior to ordering them. I will never go back to that so called repair shop. This shop is unethical, dishonest, and will try to take as much money as possible from you. I am sincerely advising everyone to stay away from this place. read more
