Also pays people under minimum wage, no overtime even when worked more than 40 hours. Doesnt even let her employees take their full hour lunches and still takes an hour from her employees... They ruined my exhaust which they lied and said needed to be removed to get the alternator out which they didn't. Stay away! The new mechanic/ Darren is worse then the previous guy that everyone complained about. I took my BMW for a coolant leak he said it was a hairline crack in the radiator said needed a new radiator charged 1600 for parts and labor the day i picked it up the low antifreeze light came back on. The hood would not open bc he messed up my hood somehow. I took it to Patrick Cadillac to a friend mechanic of my brothers they were able to get the hood open put car up on lift to show me the coolant leak was coming from the cracked thermostat housing and never needed a radiator in the first place. I called Darren told him what the all mechanics at Cadillac saidd. He Darren reply was " Im not playing this he said who said game with you and hung up the phone me! I was welcomed immediately by Rich. My car is old and I know it's far from perfect. Driving back to California from Maine I Stopped at Steak n Shake across the road noticed my engine light was on. Thought it was a relapse of an issue I had been dealing with. Stopped in as I drove by. They ran the diagnostic and got a code on tech had never heard of. Lead guy knew right away. I googled it and saw it was a recall on a part. So I figured that may have been the cause. But in the course of looking everything over they noticed my oil was extremely low. Did a flush and a clean and reran the diagnostic and it was fine. So they fit me right in, found the simplest answer to what was wrong, when they could have charged for the part that was recommended through the notice. So instead of a possible blown engine or a few hundred bucks for a part and labor I rolled back on my way after about an hour and a half delay with a bill for less than 150 bucks. Drove through the next two days basically and ran fine. I checked the oil because it was a mystery as to why it went out since I had it changed right before I left. But it was all fine from there. read more

So my car failed an emission test, and I call around places seeing which is least busiest, and this led me to Auto Medics, for a good reason. No wonder they don't have many customers and the only place not busy during peak hours. At first they run the diagnostics and tell me the problem, then that's followed with a quote. It's my parents car so they're the ones paying for it, so understandably I said I will get back to them and let them know if I will need their service. Knowing I would not be getting it done at that moment, I asked how much a diagnostics check would cost, and the guy says he didn't know what was done (although the the on-board diagnostics computer system lets them know). So literally they just checked it through the computer system, but the guy didn't want to say that so he could charge me something at least before I walked out the door knowing I wouldn't be getting serviced at the spot. As for the rate, first he says $790, then I say that's a little steep, I may have to check other places, since again, I'm not the one Paying for it. He then takes off some to about $700, which is fairly good deal. Again I tell him I'll get back to him since I have to talk to my parents. Then he lowers it to $650. So how much are you up charging if you can take that much off and still make money? After I said i would get back to him, he says he may not be this nice tomorrow. So what's that mean? You're basically threatening me to get it done now or else I'll have to pay more. Just absolutely ridiculous. I again said I'd get back to him and asked if he could write a quote down with the problem, but he refuses, rips up the paper and throws it out. How exactly am I supposed to tell my parents the exact problem if you won't write it down along with the quote. I have personally had much much better experiences with Auto Masters in shore wood and Aacell next to the emission place. They treat you as customers ought to be treated, and want repeat customers. I will never step foot inside this terrible business. No wonder they're basically the only auto mechanic in Joliet that's not busy, the guy running it is very rude. I will say though, the gentleman with the long hair was very respectful and courteous, too bad I wasn't talking to him the whole time. Don't go here. Our son's car died in Jolliet late at night on the way from Grand Rapids, MI to Iowa City, IA. He left it parked it in MacDonalds (they were very kind) and called us. I called Rich at Auto Medics Jolliet first thing the next morning from our home in Rochester, MN and he immediately arranged to have it towed in. Within the hour, Rich called back with the estimate (more than I was hoping, but VERY reasonable considering towing charges) and had it repaired and ready to be picked up 2 hours later. I am very disappointment in this business. My 18 year old granddaughter took her car there for an alignment after our mechanic did some front end work on the car. Keep in mind our mechanic is a personal friend and very trustworthy. Your mechanics told her the car needed $2000 worth of repairs and was unsafe to drive. They even went so far as to make her sign a waiver to that affect. None of the repairs they quoted were necessary. This was pure taking advantage of a young girl. Customer service is horrible and I'm still experiencing the same car issue. The owner of this business was even dismissive. They wanted to charge me $60 for test driving my car, which was not mentioned to me prior to getting the keys to my car. Furthermore, I was charged $300 more compared to another competitor for the replacement my master cylinder. My recommendation is to shop around for better prices and customer service. This was my third time doing business with them but unfortunately this will be my last time at this establishment. So I called to arrange a wheel alignment and was told " because auto quacks didnt do the parts install that they dont normally like to do alignments. The guy on the phone was an absolute jerk. Took my Honda accord into auto medic 2x. First time the Honda dealer told me I needed an alternator and battery totaling $700.00 charged me $120 just to put it on machine. Auto medic put on machine said nothing wrong only needed to drive car longer to charge up battery ( car seldom driven ) charged me $0.
