I love it here because they sell cheaper but better quality coffee compared to the mainstream /commercialized coffee shops. The staff are also very nice and helpful. Unique place. They have multiple methods to brew coffee, very cool. The barista was very pleasant, informative, and walked me through the methods and varieties they have. The atmosphere was pretty chill and somewhere you could relax and really enjoy a cup of coffee. They have pastries from another shop and the variety is limited. Great experience. read more

I pulled off the highway driving through Chattanooga to stop here, so I have mixed feelings. I knew it wasn't Starbucks and I wasn't expecting it to be as fast as their drive through, but it took longer than I wanted. Mainly... because I couldn't discern an organized way of ordering, and I'm not assertive enough to take charge and demand attention. So I felt a bit forgotten, all the regulars and whomever got coffee first, and my stop took a little longer than expected. Eventually, I got a cold brew and made it back on the road. And it was bangin. I was distraught when it was gone. It was heavenly. If I drive through again, I might stop by, to give something else a shot, because it just might be incredible too. Happy to have finally made it to Velo Coffee Roasters! The nice lady behind the bar was very patient with me as I asked a couple questions about the menu and helped me pick out an iced latte. At first when the employee told me they use cold brew instead of espresso for their iced lattes, I was a little apprehensive as I am accustomed to using espresso. I went ahead and gave it a try when she told me that they do that because the cold brew gives the drink a smoother flavor and holy cow were they right! Now, it's a bit tucked in the depths of Main Street; however, once you find this hidden gem, you will not be disappointed! Filled with fresh aroma of roasted coffee, Velo has been a well-known whole sale distributor in Chattanooga since 2010. I had heard about Velo from trying out other coffee shops, but never tried it out, well more of I couldn't find it, and brushed it off for a bit. Finally, after much contemplation (more of guilt since I told a friend I would go one day and never did) I and a friend drove by to check this place out. First off, hours are a bit hard to fit into your schedule if you go into work early or work during the afternoons. This place opens at 10am and is closed on Tuesdays, unless that was just a random Tuesday they just happened to be closed on. They close around 6pm, so make your way down here if you can! My first drink here was a specialty cold coffee, Westward Traveler. This unique drink consists of a cold brew, cruze dairy raft smoked tea syrup, Ancho chili, cacao nibs, and sea salt. Take that coffee enthusiasts! Yes, a plain coffee here is great, but them picking it up a notch makes this place one amazing coffee shop! Second drink was a cortado, which, come on folks, a cortado with such great quality deserves an hand of applause. Espresso had such a clean earth tone to it and the milk was rich and flavorful. Third drink I had was the APU, which came in a Chemex for two 12 ounce drinks. Yes, I drank this is one seating and I loved it. Such a rich bold taste that lingers on your taste buds. Nothing burnt here folks! Workers are also friendly and seem to love where they work. I love seeing shops with this type of atmosphere and will definitely be recommending Velo for all others to visit! read more

Cappuccino was blah and not very warm as I requested. The barista was nice but a bit of a mumbler. This is a place to come and socialize and not so much for a coffee that will give you a nice caffeine kick. I ended up going to Starbucks to get my coffee the way I want it hot and strong. Finding Velo Coffee Roasters was the happiest accident! I had a friend visiting and we were driving around town, showing him the different parts of town and saw a sign for Velo. I've bounced around this great country and this is my best coffee shop. The coffee is just great- I usually add milk to my coffee but not here, you just can't mess with the bean. Also, their cold brew concentrate lasts long and saved me many times when I'm on the road or when it's crunch time at work. We went out of our way to stop here on our way back to Florida after Hurricane Matthew. It had great reviews and we like to support home grown coffee shops. We live in Florida so we're accustomed to ordering iced drinks. I ordered a soy latte with vanilla but they didn't have soy or syrups. I said almond milk was fine. Then I ordered an iced Americano..."we don't pour our shots over coffee...it's our take on coffee...our bar isn't set up for that." They offered cold brew, but I prefer espresso. We left frustrated that we had gone out of our way and they wouldn't serve us what we wanted even though they clearly have espresso and ice. I'm sure the other drinks are great, but try to be more accommodating like your competition. read more
