Great little coffee spot on Signal Mountain! I came here on a Friday morning/early afternoon and it was fairly busy. I didn't have to wait long for my coffee and blueberry muffin though - I ordered one of their seasonal lattes (very good!) and I was tempted to get a breakfast sandwich, but I opted for a muffin, which was also good. There's a lot of seating inside + outlets for if you're wanting to post up with your laptop, which I did for an hour or so. Then, you're right down the road from Signal Point where you can spend the day hiking! read more

An unexpected gem my wife and I discovered following hiking Signal Point while on vacation. The location is set deep into the lot and is easy to drive past (which I did). Once there we loved the indoor and outdoor seating areas. The baristas were friendly and helpful (it was our first time there). We enjoyed a latte, hot tea, banana bread and a blueberry muffin. All the baked goods were fresh and tasted great. The hot drinks were great. Especially the latte. It was VERY good. If you are visiting Chattanooga or the area and are looking for a great little coffee spot, you will not be disappointed in Mayfly! read more

Decent little coffee shop in Signal Mountain. Somewhere in between charming and a hobby lobby store. Highlight was the coffee, the barista seemed to actually know how to make coffee. The cinnamon roll was sub par, dough was dry and needed more icing. Overall not too bad for being the only shop on Signal mountain, I'll be going back soon. read more

Looking for a new coffee experience and had time to make the trek to Signal Mountain. The shop is very cozy and spacious; it has it's own unique look and feel. The service was pleasant and efficient. They make their pastries in-house which is pretty unusual (most source either from warehouse clubs, etc.). I ordered a coffee cake muffin and it was delicious, fresh, and tasty. The coffee was good. I'm not sure what variety it was. Parking is free and in a private lot. Overall great coffee experience. read more

I visited this place about a year ago and it was enjoyable but a little bare bones so I hadn't made it back especially since it's located on the mountain a little out of the way at the time. Today we stopped in after a hike on our way back home and I was really surprised how much it has changed in a really great way! It is now completely worth a trip up to signal mountain if you're looking for a cozy coffee spot and now they even serve some breakfast and freshly baked goods. Also they have local draft beers as well! They have a great little outdoor area, a front porch area and the seating area inside has improved and looks larger and more welcoming for lingering and staying awhile. The coffee is delicious and the staff is very friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Signal Mountain area or even just looking for something new and different outside of the downtown area. read more

While I may not have been too wild about the breakfast sandwiches, the coffee was very good, and the owner/management truly went out of their way to make it right. That level of customer service is very rarely seen. Will visit again. Counter staff was polite and efficient. read more

This place is so hard to find. Took me 10 minutes to find it. After 4 wrong turns following their signs I finally found it. Then they were closed at 1pm. I pull up At 1:04. Doors close. Waste of time to go here on Signal. read more

We were looking for good coffee on a Sunday morning only to learn that our favorite spot in Chattanooga was a casualty of COVID - Permanently Closed . We only visit Chattanooga a few times a month, and were now looking for just anything open at 10:30 on a Sunday. Despite the reviews, my expectations were low, especially in this part of town. Surprise, surprise! Mayfly is cozy and clean, well-decorated and comfortable. And the young barista had actual skills - not just a high school or college student playing a part. He went right to work, and had us set in no time. Solid shots, well-steamed milk. We sat outside on their patio and enjoyed the fall morning. Well done, Mayfly! We'll be back! read more

My wife and I were hiking signal mountain and wanted to get a coffee before. Stopped by the Mayfly ad got a latte, triple shot and it was the best latte I've had in TN. They also have some delicious pastries. Great stop on the way to hike. read more

If you are going to go to all of the trouble of driving all of the way to the top of Signal Mountain, you should be rewarded. Yes, of course, there is a beautiful view or two of the winding Tennessee River below. Additionally, there are beautiful homes gently set upon lovely segments of finely manicured greenscape. You will enjoy all of these features and more if you refresh yourself at Mayfly. You will be warmly greeted by a crew that all look like they just walked off of the set as extras on some romantic Hallmark movie. There is a fine array of beverages and cafe features that will be delivered to you in a timely fashion. You can enjoy each one in a warm cabin interior with comfortable seating. Make sure your mobile devices are all fully charged or you may fine yourself in some awkward situation. They could use more outlets or embedded USB charging ports. That was my only little irritant. It was nothing that I couldn't dowse in my warm beverage and sugary confections. read more

We decided to check this place out after meeting the store manager at the Market in December and buying some whole beans. So glad we did. The lattes are superb! We also got a breakfast sandwich each, and honestly it was the best breakfast sandwich I think I've ever eaten. Everything was fresh including the golden, flaky bread. The place is super cute, also- love the aesthetic. They've got a bit of outdoor seating which I'd love to try out when the weather gets a bit nicer. Great little hidden gem. read more

I'm not entirely certain they don't lace their coffee with crack cocaine as I'm inexplicably obsessed with Mayfly. I inadvertently addicted my mother to it as well and am forced to feed my addiction every time I visit Chattanooga. Love the new layout of the shop. Staff is great. Coffee is great. Snacks are great. I went in with a neck gaiter over my mouth and nose. The gentleman at the working the cash register asked me if I had a mask? He was wearing a cloth mask over his nose and mouth. There was zero difference between what I was wearing and what he was wearing. It's sad when small businesses make it impossible to support them. We just moved to the neighborhood and I was so excited to be able to walk to a local coffee shop but after that experience I will not be returning. read more

Arguably the best coffee is Chattanooga. If you are are a native or just visiting our beautiful city and love coffee, be sure to make the trip up Signal Mtn for some excellent coffee and a short trek to Signal Point to take in a birds eye view of the city and river. The shop itself is small and has a welcoming feel. The staff is chipper and eager to pour you a cup of black or whip up whatever kind of coffee abomination your heart desires. The espresso is top notch and my favorite in the city. They 99% percent of the time have two drip coffees available and at least one is a single origin. They roast the beans just a few feet from the seating area so you are able to be nosey and watch them do their thing. There are huge burlap bags of green coffee beans on pallets in the seating area that add to the craftsman style woodwork of the space. You won't be disappointed. read more

By far my favorite coffee shop in Chattanooga. It's located on top of Signal Mountain, so far enough to be completely removed from the city but close enough to go for breakfast. The employees are very hospitable to where it feels like you're at grandma's house having a bagel. They roast their own coffee in house, so not only can you get a peek into the coffee roasting process, but it's as fresh as you'll ever get. Combine the wood paneled counter and the burlap sacks of coffee and you feel like you're at a log cabin...that smells like good coffee. Can't recommend it highly enough! read more

This was our first run here since recently moving to Signal Mountain. We are from the Bay Area in CA and definitely have a high bar for coffee. What we found here with their locally roasted beans was not disappointing. We had a decaf latte and their espresso was fabulous. I spoke for a while with Atlee who was working on roasting a new batch of beans and he was humble and down to earth about their process. Definitely recommend Mayfly to any coffee lover. read more

The coffee is fresh roasted on site and served up in a friendly and attentive manner. Every barista has been fantastic in their customer service and well trained on the equipment. Mayfly has some of the best coffee in town! Locally roasted on Signal Mountain with great business values. A percentage of all the coffee they sell is donated to various environmental charities. They also do what they call "beyond fair trade"-where they work directly with the coffee farmers to eliminate the middle man. Thereby, guaranteeing the best price for the farmer and for Mayfly.
