I was getting back into paintball after a 9 year hiatus. So I found myself frequenting this store a number of times over the last year. Every shopping experience has been great! Prices are reasonable and about on par with most online retailers. The staff has always been friendly, helpful, and respectful to me. When I need paint this is the only store I buy from. Decent variety/grades and fair pricing. All the paint they sell has performed exceptionally well. Their tank hydro process was quick and easy with good pricing. I needed to buy new forearm/elbow guards and knee pads and it was nice to be able to feel the soft goods in person, compare brands, and try them on. The Karnivor electro Autococker was always a gun I liked though I did not get to play with it much. Between practices and tournaments I was always shooting my Planet Eclipse EGO. So when the time came to bring the Karnivor out of storage I knew it needed some tuning to get dialed in. These guns are now worth between $1,500 and $2,000. I absolutely trusted the team at Velocity Paintball's Store to take care of my baby. They got her shooting awesome! Went out to play at velocity with a few buddies and enjoyed it so I went to go buy a starter kit but didn't know where to begin. I played at their field and saw they had a shop. I went there and David was very knowledgable and was and walked me through different packages within my budget. Power tank, off road and 4x4 people this isn't your place. Stopped by 2/17/24 to fill my tank like I have 2 times before, had a sign on the door the employee is on break will be back 15-30 min. No problem everyone needs a break and or lunch. Maybe I had bad luck and they walked out right as I got there. nevertheless I waited over 40 mins. heres an idea put gone from a time to time, put gone for an hr, put the closed sign up so people don't wait. After the guy got back from his nap I head in to fill up my 10lb bottle. Sleepy head said we don't fill up bottles that size, I say that's not true since I have filled this bottle up twice before and you are the one who has filled it. He said he didn't know it was a 10lb bottle those times. So they can fill them but they choose not to from time to time, I'm not sure. All in all it's time I can't get back and won't be spending my money or recommend this place. Bummer because I like to support the smaller shops. Best of luck. I've been a customer for 20+ years. Velocity, since it's days down in Bonita, has been my go to shop. I can't say enough good about this place. Since they moved to Kearny Mesa the shop is even more convenient to get to. Brian their tech pretty much knows anything there is to know about markers. If you need something fixed, take it here and it will get done. Need a tank hydro tested, they can take care of that. Inventory selection is great. They have a constant fresh supply of paintballs so you never have to worry about *old paint*. They have a full range of gear from just getting started to the highest end of everything. Did not know there was a paintball/airsoft store locally! It's tucked away in a plaza which has lots of available parking. This place is quite comprehensive and they have multiple types of paintball gear, from actual paintballs all the way to the guns, with a wide range of pricing. The place was not busy, which allowed me to see many of the things they offered. Apparently they also service the markers as well as tanks. One thing I learned is that with C02 tanks; when they expire, you shouldn't get them retested, and it is better to just buy a new tank. The place has a selection of airsoft guns, albeit mostly larger ones, as well. Lots of other gear is available, at reasonable prices. I had a BLAST popping my paintballing cherry yesterday! I got a few gnarly battle welts as a souvenir too haha. I went with a group of 7 and toward the end of the day it was like our own private paintball session because everyone else had left. The referee was really nice and let us play a final game even though it was getting close to closing time. I really appreciated it. There used to be 11 courses but there are more like 6 now. My favorite was the one with the springy looking barrels because I could actually see the opposing team. The one in the trees was really tricky in my opinion. Being a first-timer I didn't really know what to expect, but once you get over the fear of getting hit (which it doesn't hurt so much as surprise you because you never know where and when you're going to get hit) and actually start charging and maneuvering around the bunkers it is a ton of fun! I'm not sure if all the players were going easy on me because I was the only girl or what, but I did surprisingly well! I think it cost my boyfriend $120 total. $80 for both of our rental packages ($40 each) and another $40 for a box of 2000 paintballs, which lasted us the whole day and then some. There was almost a fight that broke out between these two guys trying to act macho, but other than that everyone was really nice and friendly. Oh, try not to aim at the referees in the red shirts! I got one pretty good on accident whoops! Lastly, it was so stinking hot yesterday! I was told to wear a long sleeve shirt that I didn't mind getting dirty and some rinky dinky jeans. It was way too hot for that. Next time I'm just going to wear shorts and a tank and be comfortable. I don't mind the welts. They up my "bad ass" factor anyway haha. You will be kneeling and squatting a lot though so if you don't wear long pants or jeans, you might want to considering bringing some knee pads. They definitely saved my boyfriend's knees yesterday. Getting back in the game after a decade aint easy. Got a new tank filled similar to any online price, and a case of paint under $50. Not much more you can ask for. Employees were cool, young buck was friendly, i witnessed manager dealing with a difficult return of a mag fed from a lame customer. Very professional. Thanks for staying alive. Tried getting my Etek 3 wrenched on at a few other spots, FAIL! until I brought it here. Brian, is the man. Barely getting back into paintball so I'm a little out of touch with this new gen, although the 3 is considered a bit old at this point, lol. They took all my money. Or rather, I gave it to them. I got the gold Dye "uniform" - yep, gloves and tank cover (or whatever you call it) and all. I'm gonna look so cool. ;-) Anyway, I like this location because they have a lot to choose from. Well, not THAT much, but I've never been to a shop that really has THAT much to choose from. With that said, if you're going to find it - you'll find it in here. The older man at the counter was super nice and patient with me and even called another store to see if they had my size of the jersey I wanted. I was a big pain in the ass, not deciding to try on things until I was already at the counter paying, etc. and they didn't seem to be horridly annoyed. I went here to get a paintball tank filled with CO2 for use with my planted fish aquarium. This is the best place to get them filled I have found in the city. The gentleman helping me was very friendly, helpful and explained things to me about filling and handling tanks I did not know before. The pricing and service were exceptional, and he even helped me with attaching my regulator. (Fitting the adapter onto the regulator was tricky and he worked it out.) I started playing paintball about 12 years ago (Wow, that just made me feel old...) My first gun was a Hammer pump-gun (Yeah, you used to have to pump them) and I've pretty much bought every paintball gun and accessory from there. When I was 19 I started playing competition ball and was on one of their sponsored teams and it was a great experience. Even though I haven't played in about a year, I still stop in from time to time so say hi to everyone. I go here now since their Poway location closed. I received the same quality of customer service like I did before. First I came here to get my tanks hydrotested. Turns out only one of the two needed to be tested. I paid for the service and returned the following week when my tank returned from testing. Easy! The same day I received my tank, I got a box of paint, and a new mask. She helped me make sure I got everything for paintball since I haven't been on the field for the last couple years until today. There are basically no paintball stores in San Diego so I was stoked to find this one. It's a pretty small store in comparison to some others I've been to and they don't have the largest selection of markers, but they will order you what you want if they don't have it. They do have a wide selection of beginner to advanced gear though. They also have lenses for all the popular masks and most popular masks. Prices match up to what I've seen online. They will match other store's advertised prices which is pretty cool. Both times I've been in there, they guys have been really great about letting me see all o the markers and answering all of my questions. They have a knowledgable staff. This is where I'm going from now on when I need to buy paintball gear quickly or check it out before buying used online. PS. Parking can be a pain sometimes even though they have a parking lot. Also, they recently changed locations and I've noticed that Google Maps is sending me to the old location on my phone. Make sure you are going to the correct location (Yelp has it right) read more

This place is excellent, easily the best store in San Diego other than the other Velocity location in El Cajon. The staff were friendly,approachable, and helpful, and their prices for repairs and service were reasonable. They have a wide selection of the latest gear, and the guns they have in stock are always decently priced and have lifetime warranties through the store. If they don't have the gun you want, you can still get it though them if you tell them to order it for you, and that way you get the warranty and support a local paintball store at the same time. Their gear can be overpriced by a bit, but usually they have OK prices. The only complaints I have is that it can take a while to get your gun repaired if they have a alot of people in queue and their clothing and soft goods gear can be outdated and overpriced. Overall, this store is awesome and I by far superior to all other paintball stores in San Diego. read more

Awesome experience with staff. Steven (I'm pretty sure is his name) is a great guy and helped me overcome my anxiety of my broken marker (just an air leak). Ended up leaving it there to get serviced by another staff member who knows his markers inside and out. I'm just getting into paintball with my friends so I did an impulse buy and purchased a marker off Craigslist that leaked air. I feel like it's my own man cave with friendly people 2000 paintballs for $34 is a great deal also! read more

This is the second time I go to this store! First of all, prices are good. Many of us shop online to get a better deal. However, all the items that I have been looking at online are priced exactly the same here. Why wait for shipping or even pay for shipping when u can go and pick it up locally for the same price. You get to see feel and see the quality of the product. They also do repairs onsite and tank refills. Amazing! I took a tank that I bought from Craigslist, and needed some work done on it. Rep was helpful and explained everything to me. Not rude at all. They seem to enjoy selling their product and are very knowledgeable. I just became a loyal costumer. read more

Today, I had the opportunity to visit the Velocity paintball store for the first time at their Kearny mesa location, the last time I've been to a Velocity store was at their now closed Bonita location back in 2011. I'm getting back into paintball so I was looking forward to checking out the store and buying some items since I had a great experience with them in the past. Unfortunately, I had a different experience. I called ahead wanting to buy a tank from them and they put one on hold for me so I was happy making the 25 min drive from South SD to pick it up. When I arrived, I saw there was a 2-person rule due to Covid, I waited outside because I saw two individuals walking inside not knowing they were the associates. When I saw them go behind the counter, I just walked in because they didn't flag me to come in. When inside, Associate #1 and Associate #2 (didn't want to share their names out of respect for their privacy) were in the back of the store and saw me but didn't acknowledge or welcome me until I just stood at the counter watching them. Associate #1, who I was on the phone with, came up to me and got my product with short small talk (even when I was trying to have friendly conversation like I did with employees from the former Bonita location). Before buying I asked to check around the rest of the store to see if they had any other products that I may be interested in. When looking around, two workers from HK ARMY came in and Associate #1 went to have a lengthy conversation with them. While still looking, I went to ask Associate #2 some questions about products while Associate #1 was still engaged in what seemed like friendly non work-related conversation. After my questions were answered and I was done looking around, I went up to the counter to just buy my tank. I waited at the cashier for a few minutes even though its small shop and I was the only customer at the time, while Associate #1 was still in conversation and Associate #2 was in the back. Associate #2 just saw me standing there and came to ring me up. When I asked for tips how to take care of the tank, he gave me very generic and non-helpful information of just keeping it in my gear bag. The customer service I received was definitely lacking, especially when trying to engage in conversation. The two associates just gave an awkward vibe unless you knew them. All and all, the whole experience didn't make me want to go back anytime soon. I'll continue to shop at Velocity to support a small local paintball business in San Diego but I hope my experiences in the future become more positive. On the plus side, they have a good amount of equipment there to get you set up (barrels, masks, parts, markers, etc.). They also price match online prices. read more

I have quite a history with Velocity Paintball, bought my first marker here (ok my parents bought it for me) a PMI Piranha. It worked for a few games then I started having problems with it. I had to take it in a few times for repairs. They finally told me I could exchange it for a Spyder TL Plus. Which was pretty cool of them as it was a more expensive marker. I used that through middle school. When I got to high school I met some people and we formed a paintball team. I upgraded to a WGP Autococker which I also purchased from Velocity Paintball as well as a 68/3000 carbon fiber HPA tank and some JT Pro Flexs. Now after high school, the team broke up as everyone got jobs, went to college, joined the military. I went from an every weekend player to a once or twice a year player if I was lucky. When I needed to get my marker serviced or some parts replaced after sitting in the closet for months, I'd take it into Velocity. By this time mechanical markers had pretty much faded out by this time. So when I'd go in the staff seemed to roll their eyes and an seem annoyed but they'd fix up the gun all the same. About 3 years ago a few of us from high school got back together and we started playing more regularly again. As we started going to the shop more often we noticed the staff seemed pretty young and and well kinda rude to be honest. They tried pushing us into getting new electronic markers, which is ok they are salesmen after all, but they also seemed a little irritated and condescending about us using/them fixing our older mech markers. I had to get my 2 tanks rehyrdo tested so I took them in to velocity for the testing. At the. same time my friend brought in his older model Angel to get fixed as it was having an issue shooting with any velocity. They told him his Angel would be ready in a week and my tanks would be ready in14-30 days. Well a month went by I received one tank back and they still had my friends Angel. They finally gave him back is Angel after about 2 months it however wasn't fixed. They gave him his money back but said they couldn't fix it. I still had not received my 2nd more expensive tank back. We found a different paintball shop that said they did repairs in all markers and could fix Angels. So we took it in there and they looked at it for a while and asked us if we had tied messing with it ourselves. He told them, no that he had taken it to another shop and they said they couldn't fix it. The tech at the new shop showed us a big scratch on the inside of the marker and said it looked like someone had tried to remove the valve with a screwdriver and scratched the inside and now it wouldn't hold a seal and would leak air. Basically told him that the marker was permanently broken. The scratch was not there before we took it to Velocity. Now, back to my missing tank. After 2.5 months I started calling wondering were my tank was. I got things like "Oh well I don't see it here maybe it got sent back to one of our other stores, (they have 3) I'll check and call you back." No call back. Call back the next week, "Yeah we had to mill the neck of the bottle it's at the machine shop it'll be done this week." Called back the next week "Oh the reg broke off we have to put on a new one" They gave me the run around for a another few months until they finally told me it failed hydro. This was 9 months AFTER I originally brought the tank in. I asked for the hole punched tank (When a tank fails hydro testing the put a hole in it so it can't be filled again) and my deposit back. They gave my the deposit back but never produced the tank. I'm pretty sure the simply lost the tank and feed me BS for months until I gave up on getting it back. After that, the damage to my friends marker, the rude and sometimes un-knowledgeable staff we have taken our business elsewhere. The prices for paint are reasonable but the gear is a little over priced. They do have a fairly large store with lots of gear. It 's also a bit of a far drive from La Mesa though and I've found a closer shop I like better. Initially I had good experiences with the Velocity shops, but lately their quality and service has dropped to an unacceptable level. . Now keep in mind this is for the Bonita store. I've had better experiences with the Poway store. This is NOT for the paintball park/field, I really like the field and go there often, I have played in the Velocity Paintball League which is A LOT of fun and I would recommend that to everyone! read more
