Curious about what the new/old place is like, our three-person family went there for a late breakfast today. Walking up to the front doors, the original inset stained glass remains. Walking in, the cool wood paneling and nautical decor remains in place with a couple of new touches. The fully appointed bar also remains, now with a more streamlined look with subtle lighting changes. We were greeted pleasantly and seated inside the dining room immediately; it was moderately busy and buzzing, not too loud. Our server was quick to our table, menu-knowledgeable and consistent in his attention to us. We had a Denver omelette, a couple of bennies and lemon ricotta pancakes to share. My omelette had particularly fresh and al fresca peppers and onions - wonderful. The lemon ricotta pancakes were sufficiently saturated and fluffy(hard to pull off)and came with fresh cream. The prices were at about the same level as the local competition, which pleasantly surprised us. It appears that the folks who did this breakfast/lunch reboot were shrewd in pricing their dishes. Jetty Wave, a drinks and appetizers adventure(which I heartily recommend as well for different reasons)in the northwestern part of Princeton, is not for the fiscally faint hearted. The only element that makes our experience short of a 5 is that we were not given a farewell when we left, though I was able to find our friendly server and thanked him. In all, the Joanne's legacy is intact - the old carved wood Ketch Joanne sign still hangs inside - literally and figuratively a homage to its legacy while bringing a new energy to this space. Recommended.

We stopped by for lunch on a crisp day, and it completely captured that perfect coastal vibe--think fresh seafood, laid-back atmosphere, and killer views of the boats and water. We started with the calamari, which was hands-down some of the best I've ever had: tender, not rubbery at all, perfectly seasoned and fried, melting in your mouth. The New England-style clam chowder was rich, creamy, with just the right subtle smokiness and balanced seasoning--definitely lives up to Half Moon Bay's chowder reputation. For mains, the Dungeness crab sandwich was the star: generous lumps of sweet local crab, minimal sauce (just how I like it), on toasted sourdough with fries on the side. My partner went with the fish and chips, and the cod was crispy, flaky, and not greasy at all--classic done right. The outdoor patio with fire pits was cozy even in cooler weather, and our server was super friendly, attentive, and full of local recommendations. The place feels welcoming, whether you're a regular from the Coastside or just passing through after a beach walk or harbor stroll. Prices are fair for the fresh, quality ingredients and location--definitely worth it. We've already added it to our list for the next trip to Half Moon Bay. Highly recommend if you're craving solid seafood in a charming harborside setting! 5/5 stars.

The beer selection is quite good: they have a number of solid beers on draft like Old Speckled Hen and Kilkenny. The service was also good: we were greeted and seated promptly, and our server checked in on us frequently. I really liked the food. I got the beef pastie and it was a nice comfort food on a cool foggy Half Moon Bay evening. The beef and peas were well seasoned, the pastry was nice, and the gravy was tasty. My wife got the artichoke soup and was blown away. It was rich, a little creamy, and very flavorful. I also appreciated the bread bowl it was in had a toasted top. We'll be back, especially because I want to try the fish and chips!

The coleslaw is amazing! I also got a clam chowder bowl. The chowder is a but bland but with a little salt and pepper, it was good. I enjoyed the bread bowl, the chowder definitely is better suited if you get bread along with it. The seafood platter is also a must! Perfectly crispy, fried seafood. Besides the food, I truly believe our experience was overall great because of our server, Rachel! Rachel was so kind, and communicative. We talked a bit about where we were from and what we do as our jobs, and it was just really nice to talk to a server that views us customers like people. It was great to slow down and just talk. Thank you!!

Service: T'was excellent and bar tender was very friendly. They do 4% discount if you pay with cash. For online ordering, order directly from their personal site to get the same menu prices. Ambiance: Great atmosphere and cool decor. There's window access to the ocean view. Huge variety of German beers. Parking is limited back of the building. Bathroom very nice and clean. Giant Bavarian Pretzel $15 (5/5): The best pretzel I ever had. This was fried instead of baked which gave it a a nice crust and soft inside. Portion size is huge, it's a sharable snack. The beer cheese and pickled that comes with it was great as well. There's also 5 different selection of mustard to eat with it. Sausage roll $13 (4/5): This was good. Make your own roll starting with $13 and 1 topping included, additional is $1-2. Ordered with yak bratwurst ($2+), sauerkraut, and grilled onions. There are a large variety of brats on the wall shown what's in stock including alligator, venison, and other exotic meats. Bread was good and freshly made, wished I did grilled onions with the pickled onions instead. I'd definitely would come back again to try the jägerschnitzel. Menu is a bit expensive side but the quality does reflect the price for sure.

It was fantastic all by itself, but the beer cheese really made it. Sausages: we chose a bratwurst and a chicken apple sherry flavors, 4 stars. They were good, but we would order the schnitzel next time. It came with coleslaw and sauerkraut. Coleslaw: 5 stars+! Red cabbage and green onion, with a vinaigrette style dressing rather than mayonnaise based. I know, it's just coleslaw, right? But no, it was a standout part of the meal. I regret not ordering homemade potato salad with bacon, that will be happening next time.

When they changed their meat, me and my friends were just so disappointed. The place is now gone, but I had been waiting for another burger that comes around that comes close. This burger doesn't look like anything special, there isn't a lot to it, but the ingredients speak for itself. One bite, and it gave me flash backs of that Viognier burger. I'll be back over and over again as this burger doesn't change. Ask for some extra burnt onion aioli on the side for the fries The restaurant itself is fairly small and fills up quickly. The items can sell out nightly. While that part is annoying, it means they aren't over buying and the ingredients are fresher. They are buying based on expected sales, not bulk. When we went the pork chop, half chicken and Zabaglione were sold out. We had the chicory salad, kentucky fried mushrooms, Radiatore pasta, burgers, and one person got the steak frites. Everything we tried was great. I'd order any one of those again. The pasta had a kick to it which I liked, but if you don't like a little spice, maybe avoid it. We ended with the lemoncello tiramisu. While the other two really liked it, I thought the texture was great, but I thought the lemoncello overpowered the dessert and prefer a more traditional tiramisu. For drinks, we tried the espresso martini, amaro sour, and oaxacan old fashion. The old fashion is the only one I tried that I wouldn't get again. I love mezcal, but this cocktail didn't seem to represent it well. The smokiness was lost, the flavors were muted, just not a lot going on.

The inside has no noise absorption so any loud group (as would be expected at a tavern) leads to extremely unpleasant loud environment for dinner. Though the food was slow to come out because it was coursed, the service was very polished and high attention to detail (asking if we wanted larger share plates between appetizers vs entrees, pacing the courses). The waiter was clearly very experienced and service quality felt more like fine dining rather than a tavern so it was just a strange environment where it was super loud like a dive bar but nicely decorated with excellent service like a fine bistro. There is mid size outside patio with space heaters and is dog friendly. It is part of the parking lot so not the most pretty but nice to have an outside option. The food was pretty good and beautifully presented. The menu reflects the same dichotomy where there's "bar food" like fish and chips but it is also unexpectedly elevated. My favorite item was the ceviche. Note closing time is quite early for a tavern - it closes at 9pm and last call for food is 830p. Bottom line - food and service were excellent but I can't see myself returning because of the extremely unpleasant noise. It's likely a good place for large groups cause it's so loud.
