Come for: the view Know that: you need to pay extra to book a booth with a view I came for my mother's birthday dinner and the staff was excellent. They were able to seat us at a booth facing the ocean, despite not booking in advance and paying the fee. Unfortunately the day was foggy, but still cool! The restaurant is located inside a little hotel. The food was...okay. Here's what I ordered: Carpaccio (4/5): i enjoyed the carpaccio's pairing with s chip, some mustardy sauce and the cheese for umami. Plate was small for the price though Kobe beef and seared sea scallops (2.5/5): do not get this. The scallops were overcooked, barely any kobe beef, and the potatoes on top become a soggy mess very quickly. Also, everything was extremely salty. Terrible. Overall, this is a spot you come to for a view and a cocktail. Don't plan special events here for s foodie.
I visited this restaurant with a friend, and overall we had a wonderful experience. We ordered a white wine, a red wine, beef carpaccio as an appetizer, and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was beautifully presented, and the view was absolutely stunning. The wines were exceptional. Honestly, some of the best I've had. It was also my first time trying beef carpaccio, and I loved it. It was a little salty for my taste, but I'm not sure if that's simply how the dish is traditionally prepared. The tiramisu was hands down the best I've ever had. The only downside happened when our food was being served. One of the dishes accidentally hit the wine glass, causing it to break on the table. We completely understood that accidents happen, and the staff quickly replaced everything. However, they didn't wipe up the table, and there were still small pieces of glass left. We could have asked, of course, but it was disappointing that it wasn't taken care of automatically. Another confusing moment was that it seemed like the manager intended to remove the wine from our bill because of the accident, but in the end we were still charged for it. Again, we weren't upset about the mistake itself. I've worked in hospitality and know that accidents happen, but the communication around it felt a little unclear. One other drawback is the restrooms, which weren't clean and it felt surprising for a restaurant of this caliber. That said, the incredible view, outstanding food, and excellent wine easily outweighed these issues. I would definitely come back and would still recommend this place to others. Parking was easy, across from the hotel. The restaurant is right up the stairs in the lobby. Restrooms were clean. It seemed like we had the best seat in the house, but these views are amazing no matter where you are. The food was so amazing, the views were absolutely stunning, and it was the perfect date night! I can't wait to come back soon.
Come here for the beautiful ocean views! Giant windows overlooking the Pacifica coast will make you feel like you're right there in the crashing surf. The food here is pretty good too. The ahi tuna poke was solid as was the sole entree. The steak fillet was unfortunately a bit disappointing. The meat was a bit stringy and not a great cut. However, the accompanying duck fat fries were delicious. Service was polite and courteous.
Relative 4 stars. Better value and view than Nick's. You're coming for the view, which is 5 stars. You can have the same view outside but it's not the same as chilling over lunch and waves from the comfort of being indoors. The food is 3.5 stars relative to other seaside tourist traps, for decent value. The service is 3 stars, good luck hunting down your server. The clam chowder was pretty loaded with seafood and not too viscous (I.e. not too thick with cream). The crab cakes weren't too thick or too floury. Pleasantly surprised on the depth of flavor on seafood pasta too. Would skip prawn cocktail and raw oysters. Oysters oddly had no flavor. Not sweet not briney etc.
Went here for my birthday dinner back in November and had such a great experience. I'd always wanted to try Moonraker since I visit Rockaway Beach in Pacifica pretty often, and with its location right in the center of everything and those amazing ocean views, it always stood out. One thing I really loved was how easy it was to make a reservation online. Being able to choose your exact table and preview the view ahead of time was such a cool feature and made it easy to pick the perfect spot for a special dinner. The service was amazing from start to finish. We started with the smoked salmon appetizer with grilled baguette, mascarpone, onion, and capers, which was delicious. For my entrée, I had the Dungeness crab cakes with fall vegetables, mashed potatoes, marinated fennel, petite frisée, and caper aioli, and it was incredible. My partner got the lobster mac & cheese, which was rich, flavorful, and definitely did not disappoint. Between the great food, drinks, attentive service, and unbeatable view, it made for such a memorable birthday dinner. I'll definitely be coming back.
The moonraker has an absolutely wonderful ambiance and the staff was attentive and very kind. Every seat in the house has an impeccable view. I opted on for the steak frites medium and they came out well done. The flavor was still delicious but I expected better quality on the steak and for it to be cooked as asked. My partner opted in for the pot roast. It has excellent flavor and was cooked to perfection. We also tried to jumbo prawns and thought they were overcooked, but had good flavor. With some more attention to detail, this place would really be winning.
The view is great, and the food is ok. The live music is a major plus and really adds to the overall atmosphere. I would definitely recommend reserving an ocean-view table in advance. The service was unaccommodating at first, but the experience improved as the visit went on. My constructive feedback is that the decor could significantly use refreshing. For a place with such a beautiful view and strong overall theme, the interior feels outdated and does not fully match the potential of the setting.
David was our server. He was attentive at the very beginning--took our order and then disappeared. Samuel, however, completely turned our experience around. He offered to take our photo, chatted with us, made us laugh, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Because of him, we truly enjoyed our beautiful ocean view. What was uncomfortable, though, was noticing that a white couple seated next to us received significantly more attention from multiple staff members throughout the meal. It honestly felt discriminatory, and that really impacted the overall experience. As for the food, it was unfortunately very salty. We ordered the crab cakes, calamari, clam chowder, steak and lobster tail, and the steak and lobster mac and cheese. The clam chowder was hands down the best dish--comforting and well done. It was my birthday, and while the dinner itself was underwhelming, I truly appreciated the little cake they brought out for me. But the real standout? The mango crème brûlée. OH. MY. GOSH. Absolute heaven. I could easily eat five of those. Overall, this was a disappointing experience, especially given the expectations. I'm giving three stars solely because Samuel made it special. Thank you, Sam--you were amazing and the bright spot of our night.
Been meaning to come home for the longest time. Came for the view, stayed for the must get smores Food: I got the lobster that came with butter and it was chewy and tasty and cooked just right. My favorite highlight of the night was the smores and it came with a little grill where u can roast your marshmallows at the table. Ambience: we got a table facing the ocean and it was a beautiful view. We also got to people watch the people by the pier haha Service: nice workers, only notable thing was my friend asked for ice tea and the server confidently gave him Coca Cola but fixed it the next time haha
AMBIANCE: Truly one of the most romantic spots on the Pacific Coast to have a sunset dinner if the presence of 'Karl the Fog' doesn't ruin it, but it did. Typical June- August. The seating arrangements are spectacular with booths facing the ocean as well as the upper level tables and bar area. They had a wonderful solo jazz pianist, Lee Allen, who set the background mood with romantic jazz classics. Our first impression of the entrance of the restaurant was that they could use an upgrade on the old carpet, however, the inside is very impressive and one of the most comfortable settings to view the beautiful ocean. I enjoyed watching the visitors getting splashed by the unexpecting high waves at the seawall. FOOD: CLAM CHOWDER CUP $9.95 = 5/5 FILET OF PETRALE SOLE $35.95 = 5/5 SALMON PINWHEEL $38.95 = 5/5 CHILLED CRAB LEGS $29.95 =4/5 COCONUT PRAWN APPETIZER $18.95 = 5/5 BRAISED POT ROAST $32.09 =5/5 MOLTEN CHOCOLATE BIRTHDAY CAKE $0.00 5/5 SERVICE: Accommodating but not friendly, could use a little personality. Back again! Beautiful view from our table. Excellent service. Delicious mocktail. I tried my companion's ahi poke appetizer: so good! She said that the oysters were excellent. The Caesar salad was also excellent, with a good amount of anchovies on the side. I had coconut prawns, served with mashed potatoes and a delicious sauce. Tiramisu for dessert. Verdict: Bring money and bring your appetite. We like this place!
Some restaurants take the ocean's punches and just don't go down. The Moonraker is one of them. Hit dead-on by rogue waves over the years that should have finished it. Didn't. Now it sits there like a rock against the raging Pacific. The seafood's still excellent. The views are still stunning. Bring an appetite. The sea already tried to take the place once and lost.

WOW... I made a huge mistake!! I ordered delivery for dinner but went for a walk and figured after seeing this gorgeous view from outside I'd go in for just a beer at the bar. I totally should have skipped delivery and eaten a full meal here!! A beer turned into a cup of chowder which was extraordinary and it's the first time I've ever had my chowder served with a real clam shell inside lol. Might be a minor thing but it made the chowder so much more enjoyable and a definite sign of the freshness. I need to come back for a proper meal but the live piano, elevated service and incredible smells won me over as this place is a gem! read more

(1 Star) moving to NO STARS A Deeply Toxic Environment: Save Your Money, Your Dignity, and Your Special Occasions If you are looking to celebrate a special milestone, feel respected as a paying customer, or receive the bare minimum of professional service, do not step foot inside Moonraker. My husband, a decorated disabled veteran, and I spent nearly $400 over back-to-back nights here for our anniversary, and it was a thoroughly demoralizing experience. When a business takes $100s and rewards you with condescending staff, hostile management, and an owner, Jason, who lacks basic accountability, the public needs to be warned. THE FIRST NIGHT: EXPLOITATION AND LAZINESS ($200 Cash) Our happy hour visit was completely ruined by our server, Manuel, whose attitude was remarkably condescending and dismissive. He repeatedly mishandled our drink orders and completely abandoned our table. Worse, we ordered oysters specifically for the advertised premium dry ice presentation. Manuel flat-out refused to perform it. My disabled husband with limited movement was forced to reach across the table and conduct the dry ice presentation himself just so we could experience what we paid for. The usual ambient live pianist was entirely absent, leaving the room dead and obnoxious (check the background noise from both videos from each night). When confronted, the manager, John, brushed it off, handed us a card, cheekly told us to email him next time to "work something out." THE SECOND NIGHT: DISRESPECT AND DECEIT ($170 Debit Card) We foolishly trusted management and returned the next night for dinner, expecting redemption. Instead, we were treated with open disrespect by our server, Sonya. We ordered the cioppino, which arrived in a hot heavy iron pot. The kitchen severely shorted the portions, giving us exactly two crab legs each with zero knuckles included (see attached photo). When we politely asked Sonya for help portioning it, she completely refused with a hostile attitude. Later, she picked up our unfinished calamari in its greasy metal cup, shook it aggressively in front of our faces, and condescendingly offered the last scraps instead of clearing the table like a professional. THE ETHICAL BREAKDOWN OF MANAGEMENT & OWNERSHIP When we approached John again to explain how both nights were ruined, he became instantly defensive. Despite knowing it was our milestone anniversary, his insulting solution for two nights of miserable service and a $370 tab was a single free piece of cake and granting us a table with views like we asked for originally. We attempted to handle this privately and professionally by emailing the executive chef and owner, Jason Yeafoli. Instead of showing leadership, Jason completely protected his defensive staff, backed John's insulting "free dessert" offer, and refused to issue a refund. BUT, he did this all without looking over the visual evidence (pictures and videos). Incompetently the FOLLOWING day of the complaint Jason immediately requested access to see the pictures and videos as if he didn't look at them to begin... This establishment will happily take your money, treat you like a nuisance, and then insult your intelligence when you ask for basic standards. They do not care about quality, they do not care about customers, and they certainly do not care about disabled veterans. Do not let them ruin your weekend the way they ruined our anniversary. read more

Was recommended by a friend and decided to reserve a spot for my birthday. We booked the pearl table for an extra $30. Ambiance: as soon as you enter the restaurant you are greeted with the view of the ocean. There's also a live pianist. Service: we were greeted right away and they kept refilling our waters. They have great time management and occasionally checked in on us from time to time. Food: There's complimentary bread and butter. Our first loaf came out warm. The other times we refilled it was cold. -Poke nachos 5/5: bit on the sweet side but it was delicious -Cup of clam chowder 5/5: good flavor and had a lot of yummy seafood pieces in it -Main entrees: the New York steak for both dishes were well seasoned, tender, cooked to perfection! The lobster tail was melt in your mouth buttery. The lobster in the Mac and cheese was a bit gummy. The little side veggies for both plates were unremarkable. Since it was my birthday I was treated to a complimentary molten lava cake, can't complain about free dessert! I would definitely come back here again! read more

We decide to go for our 30 yr anniversary. We did not pay the extra fee for the premium seating however we were seated by the window in a booth and were happily surprised! The views were amazing. Once seated we were given water and bread came out quickly after. Our server took our beverage order. Then the excitement began!! We were seated right under a party of 10 ladies that were celebrating their guests 21st bday. How fun for them and super rude as they were yelling across the table, hooting and hollering each time taking shots. This is not a club or bar! I can handle once but when you can't even hear your husband talk to you it's rude and downright disrespectful! It was completely obnoxious! We shared with the server and he agreed it was over the top! Hard to make a romantic evening together when you hear constant screaming in your ear. We recommend that the manager say something to ask them to tone it down. We quickly ate and were brought a complimentary dessert which was a nice touch. The manager then came by to say sorry and brought a glass of bubbly to wish us a nice anniversary and say sorry. It honestly was too late! The night was ruined. Food: very good! I would have loved to see a Seafood special of something fresh caught on the menu. Service: our server was lovely and they did a nice job keeping water coming. Would I go back? NO What I do recommend is to have them read the book "Unreasonable Hospitality!" read more

5/4/25 I had a Moonraker gift card that was given to me years ago..thank goodness these don't expire haha! I wanted to take my parents out and they like seafood so my husband and I met them at Moonraker restaurant at Pacifica. Before the day of our meal, I made a reservation online (in the Shrimp section) since my parents wanted an ocean view. This was an extra $18. With regards to parking, it can definitely be tricky. Thankfully we were lucky enough to find street parking just across the street. We were warmly greeted by the host and was brought to our reserved seats in the Shrimp section. It's not a bad view of the ocean, but the windows could have been cleaned better. Here's what we got: - seafood pasta (mine and Dad's) - clam chowder bowls (to share) - Lobster mac and cheese (Zach) - Filet of sole (Mom) - Crab cake (to share) - Pumpkin spice Creme brulee (for Mom and I to share) Our waiter was warm and friendly. He brought us warmed bread and butter which was great. I definitely recommend getting the clam chowder because it's full of seafood and super delicious. The crab cakes are super tiny, but those were really good too. The seafood pasta was also filled with a variety of seafood. The broth was a bit on the watery side for me, but still flavorful. The fish was cooked perfectly . The mac and cheese had a decent amount of lobster in it. The creme bru lee was good, but too sweet for my mom. Overall, a wonderful experience regarding the service, food and the view. read more
This place remains my all time favorite date night restaurant overlooking the water. You can reserve your table of choice ahead of time, for $40ish dollars. Be sure to time it right with the sunset. You can't go wrong with the NY strip steak. Perfectly cooked every time and the mashed potatoes are creamy AF. read more

I got the burger special with bacon cheese & crispy onions added. My boyfriend got like a jambalaya or something like it. My burger was phenomenal. The absolute best views in the place make you feel like you are at the beach, only warm. I craved seeing someone get hit by a wave over the seawall. made a reservation online for dinner. we were greeted warmly and seated right away. our server aaron was amazing, very funny and attentive. we started with drinks and they were honestly a little weak (siren song and pacific sunset). for appetizers we had a cup of clam chowder which was perfectly meaty and creamy and complimentary bread and butter. for our mains we decided on the sole and the cioppino. all the food came out hot and in a timely manner. the sole was so flavorful, creamy and fresh! the cioppino also had a great flavor and lots of fresh seafood. since we were celebrating a birthday, they brought out a chocolate lava cake with raspberries which was such a nice touch! we left very full and happy! great view even on a foggy day and very warm, cozy atmosphere, perfect for celebrations! read more

Crispy Calamari ($18.95) - This was crispy and well seasoned! Crostini & Burrata ($16.50) - The crostini was baked to perfection and the toppings were fresh! Seafood Pasta ($38.95) - I was astounded by this delicious medley of seafood! My favorites were the thick, juicy, and succulent prawns and soft, buttery scallops. Molten Chocolate Cake ($13.95) - I loved how rich and decadent the chocolate cake was. The caramel truffle gelato paired so well with it, too. Pacific Sunset ($13.95) - This is one of my new favorite cocktails. "POG" is one of my favorite juices so I was sold when I saw that it has passion fruit and guava. I had a Cesar Chicken Salad, Lobster Bisque and Seafood pasta. Bloody fantastic! It all hits everything from flavor to presentation. I do wish my soup was a bit more warmer. Prices were $$$ great. I have been here many times and I can't believe that I have never reviewed it. This is one of the most romantic dining spots in the Bay Area, if not the entire state. It is positioned right on the ocean and the interior is designed to take full advantage of the view. Almost every table is an ocean view table. They even have exterior lights illuminating the waves at night. The food here is elegant and upscale (which is reflected in the price). I have fond memories of wild boar pasta and squid ink pasta. One of their specialty desserts is a table serving of smores, complete with a little table top fire where everyone gets to roast their own marshmallows. I usually come here for the happy hour in the bar. Happy hour oysters are 1.75 and my buddy and I usually down 2 dozen. Cocktails are nicely priced and I like to go with a gin and tonic. They also serve French fries cooked in duck fat and you really must try them. The staff here is always friendly and on point. Shout out to waiter "John Snow" who takes good care of us. It's a great place to hang out or take a date for a memorable evening. You might even see whales while you enjoy dinner. Parking is easy and you can take a seaside stroll before or after your meal. Celebrated Mother's Day at Moonraker and the highlight of the experience was definitely the ambiance and breathtaking ocean view. The scenery alone makes the wait for the food enjoyable and relaxing. We started with the clam chowder and calamari for appetizers. The calamari was a bit small for the price, but the chowder was enjoyable. For our entrees, we ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese, Grilled Salmon Pinwheel, Dungeness Crab Cioppino, and Mussels-Frites. The dishes were decent overall, though nothing particularly stood out for us. Unfortunately, the Mussels-Frites, listed as one of the Chef's Specialties was overly salty, which was a bit disappointing since we had high expectations for it. Overall, it seems like many people come here mainly for the beautiful coastal view and relaxing atmosphere rather than the food itself. As for us, it was nice to experience once, but probably not a spot we'd return to. read more

My wife and I booked a lunch at Moonraker. This was our first time dining here and we were excited to try their menu and watch the ocean waves from their window. We opted for a table overlooking the ocean waves. Moonraker is inside the Lighthouse Hotel and parking is available for Moonraker customers if you park at the hotel. Our table was great since we could dine infront of a big window overlooking the ocean waves of Pacifica. The service was excellent. The server was very attentive and gave us some recommendations. We ordered their salad, crispy calamari, coconut shrimp, and seafood pasta. The food is generous in size and the seafood is fresh. The seafood pasta had shrimp, calamari, fish fillet, and mussels. We enjoyed our lunch meal and a scenic view from our table. read more

David & Elvis gave exceptional service. We will be back. From the moment you walk in the ambience of the place is absolutely beautiful the live piano playing was so enjoyable. We booked this for the day before our anniversary. I was able to make this reservations 45 days prior. Our food was absolutely amazing. It was everything we expected it to be and more. Sometimes you'll book with a place and the photos make it look better than what you're expecting I would say for here the photos don't do the justice that it deserves. I would've loved to have been here in the daytime and did some great videos. We got to enjoy each other and our company. The water looked so beautiful. What I love about this restaurant is you felt like you were the center of attention although there were so many other people there. The couple next to us was celebrating her birthday and there was a Family on the corner and seeing the mom and the daughter melting marshmallows together was absolutely delightful I really appreciate it and loved how the Manager went by and checked on everybody and smiled, and you could tell he enjoyed his job. It's very easy to park underneath there is a stairwell to walk up and you go around towards the water and go through the front and the restaurant is located on the second floor . The staff cared about your experience and not just that but if you liked the food. Everything is a five out of five the calamari is not my absolute favorite here however I've had calamari many many places. It still was good and we ate every single piece of it. I think we just needed some strong horseradish. The one brought to us was not other than that five out of five for the entire experience we will be back. Had a reservation for a party of five to celebrate a birthday. Thursday evening was able to secure street parking easily within a block. Love the sweeping ocean views! For starters we ordered their calamari, oysters, clam chowder, and asparagus soup cup. Everything all around good. Clam chowder comes with a lot of meat. For entree I ordered the chicken saltimbocca. Not a huge fan of cheese rind that came with the brie, but overall all the flavors on this dish worked wonderfully together. Service was a bit slow as there were longer than desired gaps we waited to order between appetizer, entree, and dessert. Overall not a bad experience, and I'd come back to try the other food. read more

Hi Nancy Unfortunately not. We recommend coming in at 4pm any day we are open for best seating as we fill up quickly.

Does the $20 reservation fee get credited towards the total?
Greetings, when we dined there last October, the reservation fee was not credited towards the total bill (separate fee...worth it from my perspective)
