The service was incredible, the owners were amazing, and the whole family made us feel so welcomed and taken care of. Truly some of the best people! Velvet lounge has two sides. The main area with karaoke and the other side referred to as "the Corner". I highly recommend the corner crew. Both sides are pricey. But I was treated much better on the non karaoke side. This side has a chill vibe and down to earth people. The volume of the music was at a reasonable volume so you could chit chat. The staff here were very welcoming and the gent who helped me, Doug, was very professional and fun to talk to. The velvet lounge side has quite a few "woo woo" girls screaming and the KJ and staff didn't seem too friendly or lively like you would expect. So I enjoyed the more relaxed easy going vibe on the corner side after a long day. I don't know if they have had trouble here. But the VL side seemed like a hassle with the guy at the front shaking you down and the tense vibe they give off. If I could give this place a 0/5 I would. Myself and a group of friends visited this place on a Saturday afternoon, two of my friends (a couple) were dancing together and were kicked out for "being too drunk", which we were not by any means. The four of us were sat outside of the bar trying to figure out where to go next and one of the employees came outside and started yelling at us saying that we were trespassing and called the police on us. So aggressive and bizarre. I would stay away at all cost. The staff are clearly on a power trip. read more

Drinks were fine! You had all the standard options. Just keep in mind it is a long wait to sing for karaoke. If you pay a little extra, you can go up first. Seating is limited and a lot of bachelorettes book tables. It's a fun time! It's one of two places open at night. read more

Went to the Corner bar which is part of Velvet Lounge and wasn't served so decided to go next door to the Karaoke bar and was denied service. Some guy who worked next door came to the Karaoke bar to tell the bartender not to serve us. There was plenty of other people there who were super intoxicated and were getting served. So we had our group of 14 close out their tabs and went to spend our money elsewhere. The bar we ended up at was way more fun and friendlier. The Band playing even said we were the best fun crowd they have had in awhile! read more

We peeked in while walking by but it wasn't open yet. As we went on down the street, they stepped out to say "come on in". They were about to open and would let us in early. Very nice bartender, but it stops there - the musician was asking for song requests and when someone requested something, he would say he didn't know the song. Then sing your own playlist, dude! Also, we only had 2 drinks on our tab and it was $55 with tip. I had a Bacardi and Diet Coke for $24 - I can buy a whole bottle for that price. Racism! We enter this bar at 4pm and left at 5:40 we order 3 rounds of shots during the time period and we were cut off. We weren't acting crazy or loud. I have been to Velvet lounge twice and both were a bad experience unfortunately. Now this is MY experience based on my expectations going into a karaoke BAR that's open past 90% of the bars on Main Street. I was expecting lively, fun, let loose environment. The first time my friend was asked by management to pull her skirt down - it was a tennis dress with shorts underneath, nothing was showing. And we were not allowed to use our bubble gun inside, they confiscated it at the door. Not a big deal but it was odd we had no issues with it all day and the only place who not only told us don't use that but took it away was the karaoke bar - where I'd assume it would be most welcome. The second time a friend tripped on the ramp coming in the door and was not allowed service - they called the GM to talk to her infront of everyone waiting at the door and tell her she was too drunk and one of her group would have to baby sit her and she would be allowed water and food only. I understand not serving people who are too drunk (which she wasn't) but I did think it was handled poorly and made my friend feel humiliated. We left shortly after that. read more

Anytime we come to Velvet Lounge we always have the best experience! The staff keeps everyone safe and the music is always sure to get you singing your heart out. Rachel is the best server hands down and she keeps your drink memorized so when you come back, she'll know your order. Thats really hard to do with such a large crowd so I am impressed! They recently added food next door and when I tell you the margarita pizza is so good, I mean it. This is such a cool little bar and karaoke spot. So many talented singers here and the young lady that did the "Before He Cheats" nailed it. It was busyish when we were there and ordering drinks proved best by going to the bar. The drinks were really done well BUT I got a $180 bar tab for 4 drinks. I've gotta call back to get the prices and make sure I didn't buy the bridal parties drinks. Reservations for tables are needed for groups so check with the hostess. read more

My friends and I had high hopes for this place, but our experience was nothing short of disappointing. Despite being completely sober and respectful, we were denied entry -- allegedly because one person in our group "appeared too intoxicated." This judgment was not only inaccurate, but delivered with zero professionalism or effort to assess the situation fairly. It's incredibly frustrating to be treated with such disregard, especially when we were excited to support the local establishment and enjoy a night out responsibly. No one in our group had been drinking prior, and the assumption made about us without any conversation or reasonable cause felt lazy and unfair. Mistakes happen, but the way they're handled is everything. A bit of courtesy and discernment would've gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad taste, and we won't be returning. I hope management takes a serious look at how their staff exercises judgment -- because tonight, they got it very wrong. read more

This place was a blast! I'm actually shocked by the negative reviews. Everyone was kind and helpful! You can expect to pay Fredericksburg prices in Fredericksburg so while the drinks could be considered high, we weren't caught off guard by that. The karaoke was fun and we had no problems finding a place to sit. The bartenders moved quickly and we didn't have to wait long. The only downfall was the bathroom set up. As a bar serving alcohol, it would have been helpful to have a bigger bathroom set up for that once you break the seal vibe ;-) great place! We had a blast! read more

The woman who was the karaoke MC was so very rude to me and my bridal Party. I had heard nothing but great reviews of velvet lounge, so of course I had to try it out for my bachelorette trip. My maid of honor (also my little sister) was very mistreated by the karaoke MC whenever she asked what number in line she was, after tipping her money.
