My wife & I visited Granite House on a recent Fredericksburg anniversary trip on the recommendation from our Airbnb host and had a great visit. Overall, 1 of our favorite food stops on this trip! Our order consisted of 1 order of bang bang shrimp, 1 spinach & artichoke dip appetizer, a shared seared salmon dish (not pictured), 1 blackberry margarita (not pictured), & 1 blueberry mule (not pictured). For me, the best part of our order was the bang bang shrimp. If I get to go back I'll just order 2 of those & call it good! The spinach & artichoke appetizer was good, but offered a pretty standard flavor profile. The seared salmon was the best salmon dish I've tasted in a long time, paring nicely with the mashed potatoes & roasted veggies that came with it. Both cocktails were amazing, but my wife said the blackberry margarita was fantastic. The most negative thing about GH was extremely limited indoor seating availability & the lack of reservations, but now you've been warned. It was a short trip for us, but we will be back to GH on our next visit to Fredericksburg for sure. read more

This place has a home feel to it. I ordered a chicken plate that had a creamy dense sauce. It was delicious. I took a picture. The person that went with me had beef. But the chef did not cooked the meat medium rare. It was well done and it was still delicious . The Manager provided a compensation for the error. The Chef might have had an off day.. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I was too full to order desert. I will go back and try the banana foster. The table next to is ordered it. The desert was enough for 2 people to share. Great place. Got there around 6pm on a chilly windy evening. There was a couple fitting outside by the fireplace. We went in. Nice bar. Lots of rooms. Lots of people. They have a good drink menu, around $12. Wonderful server at our table. We decided to try appetizers only. Got the Bang Bang shrimp. Delicious and on a bed of salad. My parents and I had a very good experience at Granite House recently. They are both "older" and can require extra patience from servers , but Maria did a great job of helping us that evening. The ceilings are low, the bar is boisterous and things can be a little loud. There is a patio area with fireplace that is a great respite from Main St. We shared some fried green beans and a Nee Orleans-style bbq shrimp to start. The order of green beans is massive and comes with a tasty dipping sauce. There are five big shrimp in the order, so be prepared to share accordingly. They do provide toast to soak up the yummy sauce. The chicken fried steaks are popular here and I can see why. Topped with a sunny side egg, the crust still stayed crispy and the portion was huge. In town for the weekend and many people raved about this place so naturally I had to try it. I love the outdoor patio seating yet I enjoy the rustic indoor saloon and old home vibe of their dining area. It almost feels like 2 different restaurants. All of the staff are super friendly, welcoming and attentive. They just had a way of making you feel welcomed. I love thet you can order drinks outside while you wait for your table. We ordered a few things on the menu. Drinks: Lavender lemon drop 9/10 something about Lavender just works with this drink. Very fragrant floral and refreshing Appetizer: Spinach artichoke dip 4/10 it was way too cheesy and barely any artichoke. Very different than what we're accustomed to when eating this dip. Entrees: Red fish 8/10 the cook was perfect and the shrimp and andouille sausage sauce paired well with the fish Beef tips 8/10 tender with good down home flavor definitely nostaligc to Sunday dinner with the family Dessert: Bread pudding 6/10 it was huge. Granite House is a low lit (kind of romantic) atmosphere, inside of what looks like an old restored house. Definitely family friendly, but also date night friendly. We were quoted a 30 minute wait, but we only waited about 10 minutes. Our server was awesome! She recommended some great options and we tried a lot of different things as a group. The fried calamari with the artichokes was great. Well seasoned, a large portion and pretty tender all around. The spinach dip was mostly just cheese with a hint of spinach lol. Cool if that's what you like, I know I do. For entrees... My friend got the pork chop and WOW, it was so good. The sauce is everything! Highly recommend. My other friends had fried options, chicken fried chicken and fried seafood. Both really good flavor. And finally, I had the pasta with shrimp and mussels. Spent the evening at Granit House in Fredericksburg and was not disappointed in any way. Our group ordered the pasta special, short ribs, fish and chips, and blackened Salmon along with some starters. All entries were excellent, delivered hot and delicious. Our waiter/bartender - Bobbie kept attention on us as well as several other tables in a packed barroom and never stopped moving. We felt taken care of in a packed house which is very unusual. Overall an excellent dining experience that I would recommend and return to when in town. The restaurant is smallish and does not take reservations so you should arrive a bit early and may need to wait which will be well worth your time. read more

On a busy Saturday in Fredricksburg where there were no open reservations left, we just walked up and were able to get a table for two in about 15 minutes. We ordered the Ruby red cosmo and the Grand old fashioned.... Both excellent!! Had the Bruschetta as a starter, it was large and so delicious! The thing that put it over the top was the balsamic glaze that was drizzled on it. Our entrees were the beef tips with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes and veggies. And the chopped salad sans the salami (they were out). The beef tips were cooked perfectly medium rare and tender, the mashies were very good. The best thing about the dish was the mushroom gravy... man, I would have eaten that as a soup. The salad was great even without the salami. We had outstanding service! And our entrees arrived literally 10 minutes after we ordered them. What a great restaurant! read more

We walked from our hotel to here... and straight up, this place was bustling. Modern, southern food is what they specialize in. They have limited hours - 5-9 pm daily, not sure which days they're closed. Lots of outdoor patio seating, with limited seating in the small house that's been converted into a restaurant. We opted to wait for a table indoors, for a much cooler temp. We were seated near the noisy busy bar indoors. The noise level was pretty high, and the people at a table near us were super loud. But, our sever, Bobby was the best! Friendly, helpful, and checked on us frequently. He made recommendations on dinner, since we had no clue. The special of the day- pesto chicken fettuccine- This sauce was too creamy and reminded me more of an Alfredo sauce consistency. I didn't care for it. Chicken fried steak- Kobe beef fried and gravy'd up with mashed potatoes and green beans. Pretty good. Drinks were solid and reasonable. Loved my coconut lime mojito and the mule was awesome. While visiting Fredericksburg on a short road trip, we found this casual restaurant just a few blocks from our hotel. Although it was a little warm, we opted to be seated in the outdoor dining area due to a wait for a table inside. It was pleasant enough although the flies were a bit pesty (this has been a bad year for flies in Texas, period). The menu was geared toward seafood but had other options as well. We had the Jam on it Burger, the seafood Cobb salad, and the chargrilled salmon. The tasty Kobe burger combined well with pimento cheese, bacon jam and the house sauce. The seafood Cobb was fresh and we appreciated the nice selection of greens...definitely not something dumped out of a Dole salad bag as you find in some restaurants. It was really good with a delicious homemade dressing. The chargrilled salmon was excellent, just slightly over done but the char was perfect on the outside. It was placed atop a mound of smashed potatoes that were very creamy. Service was very good, attentive and kept our drink glasses full. Prices were very reasonable too. Recommended. read more

Loved our dinner here at Granite House Lounge! Gorgeous outdoor patio despite the crazy amount of mosquitos visiting Fredericksburg the same weekend we were. We ordered the artichoke dip for starters and a variety of cocktails. The menu is inclusive of many dietary restrictions. For dinner I ordered the chicken masala over mashed potatoes and a side of asparagus. YUM! It was such a great decision given that it was my first time here. Today, my wife and I went for dinner right after checking into our hotel. The restaurant was just a three-minute walk away. When we arrived, the hostess seated us promptly without any wait. We chose to sit inside, though there is outdoor seating available, which seemed quite popular on this perfect July day in Texas. Our waiter was very attentive, ensuring we had enough water and were ready for more cocktails if needed. My wife ordered the chicken Marsala, and I had the chicken fried steak. Both dishes came with green beans, carrots, and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were especially delicious and complemented the meals well. The cocktails were also excellent, though they were potent enough to sneak up on you if you had too many! While we needed up enjoying our dinner inside, the ability to wait outside until your table is ready, with cocktails and appetizers is a really smart set up. We started with a few cocktails and some fried oysters and artichokes on the patio before moving inside for dinner. With an hour wait on the Friday night we visited, this was a welcome option. Moving inside, the place feels old-worldly and warm albeit a bit dark and small. Especially compared to outside. For dinner, opted for the chicken fried steak with a house salad and it delivered. Sounds strange to mention but the pickled red onions on the salad were so good, I spent the rest of the trip looking for them in a local shop just in case. GET THE ONION RINGS. I have never had anything quite like them before and I re-branded them "chicken-fried onion rings" in my head b/c the crust was like fried chicken, bettered and very crunchy. We came here on a recommendation from a gal at a winery, she said they have a different pasta special every night, so we called to see what it was that night and it was a chicken, spinach, bacon cream sauce fettuccine. We also got a salad to round out the meal and were to split it all between us. The restaurant is a bunch of little rooms, I am guessing this place was a home in a previous life. Our favorite spot in Fredericksburg Everytime we come here the service is great and everyone is friendly. Bobby (the manager) is always making sure things run smoothly and there is good communication between all the staff. If something isn't just right he makes it so. We try different specials most of the time. Anything they do with Ahi Tuna is delicious, currently they have them as a starter in nacho form. They have some great salads on the menu. I love their salmon. We haven't met anything we don't like. I enjoy their Blackberry Margarita and my guy gets the Coconut Mojito. Recently they had a carrot cake as a seasonal dessert, it was awesome. Now since it is peach season, they have peach cobbler (also wonderful). The desserts are LARGE portions. Also if you split the entree (two plates) they charge a little extra but you get more and it's a good helping. We've sat outside on a nice day, at the bar, and in both the side rooms inside. All are nice, it's intimate. Sometimes it's loud but that doesn't bother us. Everyone is having a good time and enjoying good food. read more

On a weekend trip to Fredericksburg, needed a place for a first night's dinner. Granite House was highly recommended and while busy (20-40 minute wait for walk ups for two), they have an outdoor patio where they'll serve drinks and appetizers, so we sat down and settled in. We started with drinks and their fried artichokes and oysters. Both were excellently cooked, but Texas Gulf oysters are very, very mild flavored. We ended up inside for dinner and both wanted the Kobe beef chicken fried steak. Again, well done in terms of ingredients and technique, from the steak to the roasted veggies. The only two downsides were the inside is very crowded/tight, and the Caesar salad didn't have any anchovies - it was more of a creamy Caesar dressing. Service was fine, drinks were on point and portions were respectable without being overly kitschy. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing evening night in Fredericksburg. read more

This place was hopping on a Saturday night. We were quoted a 50 minute wait and I know it wasn't that long. They have a great waiting area in the shade were they offer drinks while you wait. The drinks are delish but I had a cucumber one that I couldn't taste the alcohol in at all. My husbands drink was very good and you could def taste it in his. We were sat at a cute two top table close to the bar. If the table hadn't wobbled this would be a 5 star review. I HATE a wobbly table. Fix it! The to die for salad which was a special was a pear salad that was out of this world! I highly recommend this well ran and friendly restaurant. It's just a couple of minutes from the main part of Main St. On a Friday night we had a short 20 minute wait. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. It was a great spring like night and the outside is well lit with string lights and the interior is intentionally darker for a more quaint feel. We started with the southern fried green bean appetizer and my wife loved them. Nice and breaded with a good dipping sauce. We had the beef tenderloin tips and the pasta special. Both had plenty of taste and good portions for dinner. I can't say enough about how welcoming the staff was all around. I'll definitely visit again when in Fredericksburg. read more

There is an area outside you can wait and the servers are happy to offer a drink menu. I had a dirty martini and hubs had an old fashion. Both were chef's kiss. We started with the BBQ as an appetizer and that was so delicious. I've had bbq shrimp in NOLA. It's not the same but close! I had the shrimp Alfredo and loved that the sauce was not too thick.
