The act was a tribute band from Nashville playing a 70's set of songs which is right up our alley. The set list, singers and instruments they played were excellent. Their voices sounded like the original artists & they didn't deviate from the playing the original songs. We would gladly see them again next time we are in Fredericksburg!!! Loved this quant little local spot! We visited on a Friday night for a dueling piano show just after the occupancy limits/mask requirements were lifted. It was a packed house and they handled it well. They have a full bar as well as snacks available for purchase - the drinks were a little pricey, but the snacks were cheap. read more

Hey Bone Heads! If you cancel a show - regardless of the reason or the COVID - it is best practice to notify those people you have sold tickets too! Six of us stood outside your theater last night with no clue what was going on. Even a SIGN on the front door would have been welcome at this point It is cold. We have managed our whole day around being at the theater and nothing. Really shitty customer service. I want a refund for the full amount and an apology! I will be leaving you a bad review on every website I can think of until these items arrive! Six preferred seating = middle left G2-G7. And a $27 service fee - I guess you could say I had NO SERVICE - even printed off my own damn tickets. I organized this for our friends - and really had to push to get them to agree and now this! This is a small venue with big shows! We've been going there for years watching big name tribute bands! It's a 2 hour drive for us, but that doesn't stop us! The seats are very comfortable. They have a nice selection of drinks, alcoholic and nonalcoholic. They also have a variety of candy. You still retain the small town feeling, but with a great selection of shows every weekend! read more

Cute venue. Fun entertainment. Just do not buy your tickets ahead of time online because even when you need to cancel for health reasons, you cannot get a refund and even worse you cannot get a credit to use at a later date. I'm speaking from experience; I lost almost $400 by planning ahead and purchasing tickets ahead of time off the website. read more

I had never heard of the Rockbox Theater until a few weeks ago, but this hidden gem was the highlight of our recent trip. The nearly 2 hour show features a cast of 7 or 8 very talented singers and musicians along with a weekly guest artist.. The music is a survey of classic good times oldies. The show we saw opened with a medley of some of the greatest hits of Motown before featuring classics from Roy Orbison, Elvis, James Taylor, Steppenwolf, BTO, Johnny Cash, Stevie Ray Vaughan and many others. It's all delivered professionally and with a lot of heart. In addition, there are some very funny moments interspersed throughout the show. From the outside the theater just looks like another old building, but inside it is very nice, new and comfortable. The stadium style seating means there's not a bad seat in the house. I enjoyed this show more than many shows I've seen in Las Vegas or Branson. The show is 100% family friendly and the cast was very nice to meet after the show. We can't wait to go back for their Christmas show. read more

I have been to the Rockbox Theater twice now, the first time a few years ago when I was probably 18 and the second time recently. I can honestly say the first time I dreaded it (parents made us) and the second time I was really excited about getting tickets! This place REALLY surprised me. I was expecting the humor to be dull and centered towards an "older clientele" but they had me laughing my booty off both times! The best part is they literally change the shows and the scrips I believe every week - so you will never see the same skit twice. The reason I put four stars instead of five is because I went to one of the Christmas shows and while the first half was hilarious, the second half was weirdly religious. It was a little too much for me and made me feel a little uncomfortable. If I were an athiest, I probably would have left and wanted a refund. The other show I attended, did have some prayer, but focused more on doing a shout out to the military, which was really cool. In the end - GO TO THE ROCKBOX...even if your kids say they would rather sit in the hotel by themselves, drag them there and they will love it :) read more

My husband and I spent the weekend in Fredericksburg for his birthday, and as we were driving around downtown, we saw Rockbox Theater. Curious, we looked it up online and decided to take a chance and buy tickets for the Saturday night show. We were very pleasantly surprised. This group of musicians and singers, some of whom have been together for over 20 years, were fabulous! A musical revue featuring songs from George Strait, Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, Bette Midler, the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and more. The show was just over 2 hours with a short intermission, where we could buy warm cookies and drinks. After the show we were able to interact with the cast. Family-friendly, which we liked, and very entertaining. We even bought their CD! read more

Fantastic performance! The theater has a group of resident thespians who perform a different show every weekend - except during winter, when they perform their Christmas revue, which is what we went to see. They scared me a bit at the beginning because it began like an amateur concert, but after the first two songs, they quickly switched into phenomenal impersonations, parodies, and lots of other entertaining bits. They pride themselves on being 100% family friendly, which I think is a shame, but even that didn't make the show boring or tame! We were brought here by Majesty Tours on a wine tour testing. This was the third "winery" on our tour. It was NOT a winery. It was the lobby of a concert venue. We were promised three wineries with good ambiance. This was a dark room with 4 high top tables and wines from the grocery store. They paired the wines with food, which I thought would be cool. But we realized the food was not being refrigerated. We arrived at 3:30 and the food was on the counter. The next group came at 5:00 and the food was not refrigerated during that time at all. The food involved tuna tartare and carpaccio which must be refrigerated. It was all look warm so we assume it had been out for a while. Between fasting, our server was cleaning the other tables with a rag. She would pause the cleaning, pour us wine, and then go back to cleaning without washing her hands. Next to the food for the next party we're the dirty wine glasses from the last group. Not appetizing. read more

Rock Box Theater is the most enjoyable and uplifting fun to be had in the great state of Texas. My wife, extended family, and close friends have been on numerous occasions. We have been thrilled each and every time. The talent on display is truly world class (if you love Barney Fife, he's there in in all his hilarity) and the quality of the musical entertainment is equal to anything you can get anywhere. (uh sorry...no opera) Another gem is you don't have to take in the smog, traffic, or uncaring attitudes so prevalent in larger cities. Very nice theater layout with sound and lighting that's first class. We had second row seats, but there does not appear to be a bad seat in the place. The show is built around a 20 minute intermission. Cokes and popcorn - no booze. The performers are very good and reminiscent of Branson-style material. They play to an audience that would perhaps object to bawdy jokes. There was a tiny bit of off-hand Obama-bashing which seemed to really play well to the older red-state crowd, and there is a finale praising Jesus. It wasn't too hard to see beyond that to an enjoyable matinee of good music, but just be prepared for that sort of ambiance. read more
