A new WTF (Weekly Taco Feature) means a new chance for tacos with flavors you can't get anywhere else and I'm here for it. Aaron and Rijja at the drive thru are always so kind and helpful. So when I have questions about the tacos, they have answers. This week's taco is the Wicked Al Pastor and it. Is. Delicious! Don't bother if you're squeamish because it has crickets on it... yes, actual crickets. But, honestly, you should try it anyways because it tastes so good and it just adds a little crunch. We frequent the drive thru for lunch and my toddler and I are both fans. He loves the tacos, but also the chicken tenders. You should go.

We arrived at this location 5 minutes prior to close. They ran out of steak so I got a brisket taco. We are from out of state and all I can say is WOW. The taco had taste from one end to the other. Awesome tacos.

April 26th, 2025 I haven't had a "velvet" taco since I've been to Austin and that was years ago. I got the Korean rice and brisket tacos w/ curry queso AND tator tots with egg Everything DELISH

I have been to so many vervet tacos, but this location is by far the cleanest and trendiest one I've seen The staff is friendly, and the food is very tasty. Their queso blanco is great. I might choose torchys queso over it, but it's still fantastic. Their menu offers a wide array of flavors and signature tacos, but the Cadillac of all tacos and the reason I keep coming back is the tikka chicken taco. It's phenomenal This is probably a one-off, but I went with a coworker and I received my chips and queso and then my tacos long before he got any of his food. It was fairly busy, but people who came after us kept getting their food. After 10-15min he asked, and they had accidentally bagged up his order for Togo and it had just been waiting up there Some tips: Join their loyalty program for rewards. Get a free slice of their delectable red velvet cake on your birthday. Also, on Tuesdays they have a deal where you can get the Tikka Chicken tacos for $3.75. That's well over a dollar cheaper than it normally is Cheers!!

Stopped in yesterday while running errands and had one of the best lunches we've had in a while. The service was fantastic, the restaurant was a vibe, and the food was even better. We shared several different tacos and I'm not sure which one is my favorite. Check them out when you get a chance!

Great selection and bold flavors! I'm visiting from Florida and needed a late night snack before checking into the hotel. I didn't want to eat too much and was torn on what to order. I asked the gentleman working the drive thru what his favorite was. He said the Chicken Tikka is a fan favorite, but he loves the Chimichurri Steak. I went with his selection and was pleasantly surprised at the bold and fresh flavor combinations. I leave early tomorrow to head home and am not sure if I'll have time to grab another snack from there, but it's on my radar for next time. I must say I was disappointed that the flour tortilla wasn't homemade, especially in the heart of TexMex. Thanks for the solid recommendation Jevin!

Super cute vibe! First time visiting Velvet Taco. I'm new to the area but I do love tacos! I was greeted by staff upon arrival. I opted for the combo meal which was two tacos and a side with a drink. I went with the Cuban pig and the Kobe smash burger. I chose queso as the side. I was so excited to see white queso! It has some taco sauce on top with some green salsa. It added a nice kick. The tacos were delicious. I would have never thought to do those combos with the tacos. The flavors were spot on and tortillas had a great texture and temperature. The restrooms were clean as well. I also noticed this location had a drive thru. I will definitely be back!

Some of my favorite chain restaurant tacos! I prefer velvet taco to torchy's, and I like that they always have innovative creations and flavor combinations, especially their taco of the week/the one they change out. The tortillas are amazing here because they don't break a part easily or get soggy. The service is pretty fast and efficient, and the actual restaurant location is super cool and in a really convenient location near Baybrook Mall. It's the perfect place to go after a day of shopping for a quick bite.

This fast casual Mexican place recently opened and has been among the few new establishments I wanted to try since I was hospitalized earlier this year. A quick in-and-out at Baybrook Mall today motivated me to grab lunch here. Talk about worth the wait. I would discover the eatery deserves the hype it's been given through sampling its rotisserie chicken and Korean fried rice tacos and brisket nachos. The tacos run through a delicious gamut of spicy and sweet. Tacos usually fall apart, but not the ones here. It was also obvious that the kitchen staff took preparation and presentation seriously. After finishing the tacos, I had the urge to try the brisket nachos, and I'm so glad I didn't leave the restaurant. If you want what's closest to a complete meal here, the nachos are it. They consist of slow-roasted Angus brisket, roasted corn pico, citrus lime crema, and more layered on top of blue corn chips. At least two people are required to wolf them down. Just like how Ohayo and Kura are adjacent to each other, Velvet Taco isn't far from Torchy's. If I were to choose between VT and Torchy's, the former wins hands down.

This was my first time visiting Velvet Taco Baybrook. Unlike previous visits at other locations, this was the first time that I visited during daylight hours where drinks were not involved (see my review of the Montrose location). This location has a drive thru! I've never seen a drive thru at any of the other locations that I've visited. The staff was very friendly and the cashier was so nice and complimentary. I ordered the Picnic Chicken and Cuban Pig to go. The taco take out box held them in place and my food was still hot when I got home. I really liked the Picnic Chicken! All the flavors worked well and I enjoyed the crispy chicken skin. I've had the Cuban Pig before, but I didn't like it as much as the Picnic Chicken. They have a nice sized patio out front. Parking is plentiful for now, but that could change once other businesses open up in the shopping strip. Time will tell. The verdict: Velvet Taco tastes good at 2 am after bar hopping or at 6 pm after running errands lol.

The ordering process was quick. I appreciate the staff calling out your name to come get your order. I didn't wait too long for mine. There were hooks for bags under the wooden tables. It's pretty convenient. For the chips, it was quite stale. The guac dip, i kinda like it to be more creamier but that's just my opinion. Each taco were an interesting combo of flavors. I liked the slow brisket one out of the three I tried. The taco shells were all crispy.

We always go through the drive thru and while the line can be a bit long at times, we've never really had to wait very long. It's not my number one choice in taco places, but they're good tacos at a good price. When I go on a Carnival cruise, I like to get fish tacos from The Blue Iguana... if I'm not on a ship, this is the closest thing I've found. They do lose a star though because I also have a toddler to feed and tell me why I can get two tacos for the prize of ONE kids quesadilla? So I end up going to two different places for food. There's not much else to say. I don't know if they offer indoor seating, but I know people seem to enjoy sitting in the outdoor patio area. Thankfully it's covered which really helps in the Texas heat. As for me, I just use the drive thru and carry on with my daily tasks.

The food came out surprisingly fast, and overall, the experience felt very relaxed and enjoyable. I ordered the braised beef tacos, also known as quesabirria. While they were decent, they were definitely not the best quesabirria tacos I've had. The consommé was very oily and lacked flavor, and the pickled onions were a bit off-putting. That being said, the tacos were generously filled with beef, which I appreciated. If I came back, though, I would probably try a different menu item. I also ordered a horchata and the regular size completely caught me off guard because it was huge. It tasted slightly more watered down than other horchatas I've had, but it was still refreshing and enjoyable. I would definitely order it again. Overall, while not every item completely wowed me, I still had a really pleasant experience here. The quick service, laid-back atmosphere, and generous portions made it worth the visit, and I'd be interested in coming back to try more of the menu in the future.

This review has great energy--you just need it tightened and cleaned 1000 dé cinco estrellas!…read more We visited El Jefe Pollo Asados (620 Nassau Rd in Webster) after a long day of touristy activities, exhausted, with a group of seven--including picky kids. We had so many restaurant options but chose this place because of the high ratings... and I'm so glad we did. I'll be honest--when we first arrived, I wasn't impressed with the outside or the area. I was a little hesitant going in. But the moment we walked through the doors, everything changed. The place felt welcoming, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere--yes, a little loud--but in a good way. It's that lively Mexican vibe: music, micheladas, carne asada... all of it. We were just tired, so I think I noticed it more. Now let's talk about the food... I ordered the Maestro Plate but swapped the meat for short rib costillas--and OH. MY. GOSH. These were hands down some of the best costillas I've ever had. Juicy, tender, packed with flavor. I cleaned those bones completely--every single bite. The dish was served with perfectly grilled "nopales" and queso panela, que ricura! Ahhh, and of course the charro beans and rice that I barely made a dent in. The portions? HUGE. Two of us shared one plate and still had leftovers--and we can eat! Now this part says everything: my grandson, who is on the spectrum and very picky, ordered pollo asado... and he tore into it. No complaints, no hesitation--he finished his entire plate. That alone speaks volumes. My daughter had the birria (and she's a birria critic), and even she couldn't finish her plate because of how generous the portion was--but she said it was full of flavor and really good. My older grandson (big growing boy with an equally big appetite) had a birria quesadilla--again, huge portion--and even he couldn't finish it, which never happens. To top it all off, the owner surprised us with a complimentary dessert--warm, soft, pillowy sopapillas with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. The kids were FULL... and still devoured every last bite. Not a crumb left. And let's talk about pricing... honey. Compared to Austin? This was a steal. I was honestly shocked at how affordable it was for the quality and portion sizes. Amazing food, generous portions, great service, and a place that turned my hesitation into loyalty. They've earned our business--100%. We will absolutely be back next time we're in town.
