BREAKFAST TACO BOMBSHELL!! I was in the area for a job and decided to stop and grab a couple tacos after seeing all the reviews. Man am I glad I did, they are insanely good. The tortillas are absolutely fresh as they aren't even a perfect circle! Both salsa's are amazing, but not hot just a bit of spice. Perfect for breakfast. When we're craving some legit, "mom and pop," authentic Mexican food, we think of one place: Juanita's. Hands-down. Every time. It's a 40 minute drive for us, but always well worth it. For starters, the folks here are amazing. We've been blessed to become friends with them over the years, and they're all just great folks -- and it shows in how they conduct business AND in the delicious food they serve. From the owner to the bussers to all the wait staff -- STELLAR. The food? Sweet mama. The food. You get some of the best salsa and chips you will ever eat here. Endless. Bottomless. Delicious. The green sauce has some legit kick, and the red sauce is good enough to drink with a straw. For mains, I have become a creature of habit here: two sausage, egg, and cheese tacos and one birria taco. End of game. But, over the years, we have thoroughly enjoyed their carne guisada, fajitas, their mixed plates, hard and soft tacos, enchiladas, soups, etc. The menu is large and they'll accommodate pretty much anything you ask for -- and all straight authentic and straight legit. This was our first time at Juanita's and we loved it! The food was excellent and service was amazing. Our waitress was very attentive and came by our table several times to check on us. The food is ok, but don't be surprised when the bill is higher than you expected. I was there this morning and was charged for chips! It's hilarious, they bring you two types of salsa with no chips, i thought they forgot since others around me had chips with their salsa, i guess they expect folks to dip their fingers. Much to my chagrin there was a $2 charge for chips-who does that?? It was at this time a waitress informed me of the sign by the register displaying the charge, sadly it was approximately 15 ft away from where i was seated! Juanita's is honestly the best Mexican Food I have had. I feel like during COVID most restaurant's food quality took a hit, however at Juanita's it seems like they've only gotten BETTER They're always adding new and exciting things to their menu and are always very engaging with their customers. I have never had anything less than a five star experience at Juanita's Taqueria. I really hope that one day they expand to more locations all over Houston so that I don't have to make the, totally worth it, 30 minute drive. read more

Atmosphere is of a small family/neighborhood restaurant. We seemed to be the only out of towners there. Everyone else was personally known by the staff. This restaurant was really small inside. There were 4 adults and a baby in our group. We had to wait a few mins for a table. The plan was to try this place out for breakfast but it was after 11:00 so I decided to order cheese enchiladas instead. The food was good. Nothing special but I ate most of it although I was very hungry. I wanted to order pancakes but they made fun of me for wanting to order pancakes at a taqueria! ‍ I'm more of a Tex-Mex girl so this place is probably more on the real Mexican food side. It was good but it's not Tex-Mex. My husband ordered the menudo. He said it was OK but not as good as his dad's. We may be back. If so, I'd like to try the quesadillas next time. read more

Wow! Had the mini tacos (2 steak and 2 chicken) with fajita, cilantro, and fresh onion on corn tortillas. Came with rice, beans, and guacamole. Hubby had steak quesadilla and beef taco. Only thing he said is it needed was twice as much cheese. Red sauce is mild but quite tasty. Green sauce is creamy and fiery spicy. Great service! Was so good, I forgot to take pics of our food. I had heard of his place but never really ventured out to find it. My friend and I go to breakfast most Saturdays and today he said "We're going to Juanita's!" and man am I happy we did! It's a small and quaint place with lots of charm but you don't come here just for that, the food is spectacular!
