Love coming here because we know we will never be disappointed. We normally have a good experience with service, you will constantly see waiters helping each other out. The chips and salsa they give you are good, the chips aren't salty which we really appreciate! I really like the green salsa but it can be a bit spicy. We got the mini tacos and a torta, which were delicious. The charros beans were delicious as well! Our favorite meat was the fajita. I like to get the melon water because it reminds me of the kind I grew up with. Most places make it too sugary or too watery. And this place has the best one I've found so far!

    Wrong order

Kitchen does not seem to understand how to read a ticket I give these people chance after chance and they continue to screw up. Every once in a while they may get the order correct I also don't understand why they offer a "homemade" tortilla and have an up charge for that. Just serve one kind and adjust your cost accordingly. Many times I've paid for the "homemade" tortilla and they give me the "store bought" version they serve Just very frustrating when ordering for others bringing into the office and the order is wrong. I'm not going to check my order every single time when I'm carrying other people's food.

Food was really good. Prices were amazing. The building is kinda small but parking is good. Service was great and the owner is very friendly. They played great music. Very tasty and will return.

We came in town and needed some food so we stopped here! So glad we did! Some of the best Mexican food I've had in a long time!!! Highly recommend! The green salsa in the beginning is AMAZING! Tastes like it had avocado in it. It was different, but really yummy! I ordered The verde enchiladas for my main and hubby for shrimp tacos! The tomatillo sauce was so good! His shrimp tacos had bacon in it which gave it a nice smoky flavor and crunch! Overall we were very happy when we left!

It was my last night in Texas and we wanted Mexican food. I lowkey wanted to try Tex-Mex to see how bad it was but decided to go with this place instead. The great reviews and delicious looking photos led us to this spot. Upon entering during dinner time on a weekday night, we were greeted and seated right away. Place seemed really deserted but had plenty of seating inside. There was a funky smell inside but oh well, we were hungry and not in the mood to go to any other subpar Tex-Mex spot in the immediate area. We were informed that they don't have waters on tap and only Ozarka bottled waters for guests. It tasted sort of like Arrowhead but a little better. I wouldn't trust tap water at this establishment anyways so maybe that's better for us. We were served chips with a side of two salsas. The chips were really stale and salty. The spicier green salsa seemed fresh but the pico de gallo seemed a bit old. Had the Enchiladas Verdes for myself that came with a side salad, Mexican rice, and beans. Opted to get pollo with my enchiladas and that was very dry. The verde salsa was honestly not bad but there was so little on one end of the enchilada. The rice was hard. The beans were extremely bland. The side salad which consisted of shredded lettuce and tomato was bland. Our server was on the passive-aggressive side. She seemed really pissed off and gave us an attitude while serving us. Being the only non-Mexican in the restaurant could've been the issue but let's not think that way. Sure, living in Southern California, there are so many great Mexican establishments, even the more Tex-Mex type of restaurants, but this place was a total shame. Food wasn't bad but it was definitely way under par, especially for a place with such high ratings. Note to self: Do not eat Mexican food in the Houston area.

We tried Taqueria Chalupas for the first time this past May when headed back home from Galveston. Last Saturday we couldn't pass up the chance to stop again when headed home from our cruise and this time brought the family. I always hate telling our kids how good someplace is and overselling/overhyping it but as suspected Tony and his team at Taqueria Chalupas did not disappoint. We were greeted at the door and sat immediately. Their red, fresh marinated salsa along with a nice spicy green salsa made with fresh fried (blistered) roasted jalapeños salsa, which is my all time favorite. Five of us ordered the fajitas street tacos with onions and cilantro which came with frijoles a la charra. Best beans we've ever had! Not mushy and the bacon and chorizo flavor gave it a nice flavor. Between all of us we had lengua, al pastor and beef fajita. They were all delicious! Thanks Tony for another great experience!

Awe, becoming a local favorite....i tried the Chalupa Mexicana. I think I died I went to tostada heaven! One large 10" with all the fixings, Crema, Oaxaca cheese, fajita chicken, lettuce, maters, fresh sliced avocado. My bro and his girl shared the fajitas, how boring. Our waitress Julianna, Que magnifico. This place is great, nice atmosphere and a good beat to shake your legs to. Estaba delicioso!

Definitely a solid five stars for this place. Food was amazing and the service was outstanding. Everyone working was attentive. Parking was a breeze. Highlights: the jalapeño salsa was AMAZING! I'm thinking of it right now. Creamy and spicy. Yum. Everything we ordered was good and came out hot. Adult and child approved. I'm still thinking about all the food we had and wish I was there to eat it.

    Fantastic top shelve margaritas.

First time here for breakfast. Wow! You can still get a hearty, fresh, hot breakfast for $5.99. We didn't have much time to spend so we appreciated the fast service. We ordered the Mexicana (scrambled eggs with jalapeño, onion, and tomatoes) . It came with chips and salsa, refried beans and potatoes. We added a cactus taco which my husband loved. The salsas were deliciously spicy. The only water they served was bottled. Had my meal not been so inexpensive, I'd been annoyed. Great breakfast!!

Pozole (got it to go and put in my own bowl)

I got the large pozole and it was amazing! The meat was so tender and the broth was extremely flavorful. Highly recommend

this spot was FIRE! As someone who loves eddie v's, ocean prime, and joey uptown- this spot is it! The margarita had me so lit! Let me also not forget to mention the queso dip with the chips. This spot is the best Mexican food I've had in the Clearlake area! Service is great and as you can see, I literally destroyed the street tacos! COME HERE!

At Lupe Tortilla in Kemah, our host was gracious and welcoming. We asked if we could sit at the bar, and we were happily shown to two seats. So far, so good. Then came the bartender. She greeted us with the sort of expression usually reserved for someone who has just backed into your car in the parking lot. Plates and chips were tossed onto the bar--technically within the vicinity, though apparently not within reach. We were then asked if we wanted drinks. We ordered a dressed draft beer and a 50/50 Rita. The beer arrived beautifully cold and perfectly poured. The margarita, however, was roughly 90% frozen and 10% margarita--the precise opposite of what we were hoping for. It wasn't exactly the warm beginning one hopes for when settling in for dinner. The food may yet have a chance to redeem the evening, but hospitality is part of the recipe. And when the first course is indifference, even a good meal has a little climbing to do.

Glad it did! First, the wait time - we showed up on a Sunday morning, right after some kind of race in the area. They told us the wait would be about 45 minutes to an hour, and we waited 55 minutes. No big deal - at least their estimate was accurate. But beware if you're on a time crunch on a weekend at brunch time :) Great hash! I had CHRISTINA'S TAMALE CAKES (Benedict), and loved it. It was top two of my meals in this visit to Texas. The carnitas were flavorful, the poached eggs were perfect, the corn bread base on the tamale wrapper was awesome. If I could improve the dish - and that would be hard to do - I would ask for a bit more of that delicious green chile Hollandaise sauce on top, which I would buy by the jug if I could. The smashed potatoes were excellent - very well seasoned and oiled and salty to go with the sweet from my main dish. My companion loved her hash dish and I scooped up some of her sauce to eat the last few bites of my cornbread. Loudness - This place was LOUD. They had a DJ spinning some great music choices - but I couldn't really converse with my wife during breakfast. I am well aware that I sound old and crotchety. I love the clubs - but this was like being in a club during brunch. Hygiene - The hostess at the front desk station was on her phone the entire 55 minutes we were waiting. When I asked her if I could get a Bloody Mary to save me from boredom during the wait - she told me to hang on. Then she sat on her phone and talked and texted for another 5 minutes or so. My wife dropped a pair of tongs on the floor from the Bloody Mary bar. Another lady picked them up, and told the lady behind the station that it had fallen on the floor. She didn't wash it - she just stuck them back in the jar where people are grabbing the food for their Bloody Marys. In hindsight - I don't know if I would have taken advantage of the endless toppings on the bloody Mary bar.

Let's talk about the sauces because they deserve their own moment. The green sauce that came with the chips was AMAZING. So fresh and flavorful. The red sauce was also really good -- both paired perfectly with the chips. For rice, I tried both the cilantro rice and the Mexican rice. They were both solid, but I liked the Mexican rice just a little more. One thing to keep in mind: toppings for fajitas are an extra charge. I got the garlic, onion, and Serrano topping with cheese -- and they do not play when they say it's spicy! It was delicious but very spicy. Also, it's a $5.99 upcharge, which is easy to miss. And heads up: they mix the Serranos into the cheese, so you can't really remove them once it's served. If you're sensitive to heat, I'd recommend asking for the Serrano peppers on the side.
