I've come here a handful of times with my sister and while we haven't tried an extensive amount from the menu, we do really love the fried fish tacos and the shrimp tacos. We always go through the drive thru and while the line can be a bit long at times, we've never really had to wait very long. It's not my number one choice in taco places, but they're good tacos at a good price. When I go on a Carnival cruise, I like to get fish tacos from The Blue Iguana... if I'm not on a ship, this is the closest thing I've found. They do lose a star though because I also have a toddler to feed and tell me why I can get two tacos for the prize of ONE kids quesadilla? So I end up going to two different places for food. There's not much else to say. I don't know if they offer indoor seating, but I know people seem to enjoy sitting in the outdoor patio area. Thankfully it's covered which really helps in the Texas heat. As for me, I just use the drive thru and carry on with my daily tasks. read more

My friend recommended this place, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered at the window, grabbed a table outside, and sampled a few of the sauces from the toppings bar while we waited. The food came out surprisingly fast, and overall, the experience felt very relaxed and enjoyable. I ordered the braised beef tacos, also known as quesabirria. While they were decent, they were definitely not the best quesabirria tacos I've had. The consommé was very oily and lacked flavor, and the pickled onions were a bit off-putting. That being said, the tacos were generously filled with beef, which I appreciated. If I came back, though, I would probably try a different menu item. I also ordered a horchata and the regular size completely caught me off guard because it was huge. It tasted slightly more watered down than other horchatas I've had, but it was still refreshing and enjoyable. I would definitely order it again. Overall, while not every item completely wowed me, I still had a really pleasant experience here. I've had plenty of tacos in my life and you gotta go to traditional homestyle authentic family oriented taco restaurant so when you compare, fast food chain or major chain taco restaurant it's just not the same, but I will admit the taco stand in my opinion is one of the best authentic like hence the word authentic like taco restaurant. The dining room is ultra clean and what I love is that you have as much salsa as you want. I hate when I go to a restaurant and ask for extra salsa I get a side eye or extra charge so to get as much salsa as I want, ultra plus. The Taco Stand reminds me of Torchy's Tacos, the similar type of vibe but The Taco Stand has better food especially the flour tortilla, in my opinion, it taste homemade. Chips and queso one of the best, it's extra creamy, tacky, and the house chips are thick so it can hold up to a little tension to dip the cheese. The lengua taco is incredible, capital T for tender!Love the crispy cuts of tongue, and I took a picture of it so you could see you got bits of it and I love how when you bite into the taco, especially with the handmade flour tortilla, it's a great bite one bite experience, and the best part, I had 3 bites on the taco. Great fish tacos, they come fried or grilled and I always go for the fried. It has a light tempura like batter extremely light crispy and the white fish taste a little sweet. Love the fresh pico on the top and I would say the corn tortilla in my opinion is a little too thick. You know it's a thick corn tortilla if you stack 2 corn tortillas on top of each other, it's even thicker than that. We stopped in to The Taco Stand for dinner on a Friday night. We parked to eat in and saw the drive-thur lines looked very organized. You order at the window outside (don't worry it is coved, but it could be hot while waiting in line in the summer). If you order a margarita (I got frozen with tajin rim), they grab your drink while you are completing payment. You get a buzzer for your order and pick a seat inside or outside. We sat inside. The salsa options were plenty and my favorite was the jalapeno (light bright green color). Also available at the salsa bar are fresh limes, pickled carrot & jalapeno mix, white onions, and cilantro. To the left of the salsas is the trash station and to the right is the fountain drink station. Food: we each ordered two and it was too much for us since we ordered chips & queso. The chips were the thick type (good & crunchy, but extra filling) and the queso was green chile. All of the food was ready at the same time (next time I may order appetizer & drink, then place 2nd order for food). Tacos: I ordered mushroom (cremini) on corn and chile on flour. Both were good (too much for me and I took some togo), however by the time I started on them after enjoying chips & queso, the tortillas were soggy. He ordered a spicy pork belly and pollo. This place missed the mark for me. I needed a small meal to hold me over before I hit the gym so decided to try a taco from the taco stand and I was a little disappointed. I ordered the Barbacoa and it was pretty bland to be honest. I also went through the drive thru and was sure to ask the server if there was salsa in the bag and she responded "there should be". I feel Ike she could've double checked and lo and behold there was no salsa in the bag. You go though the drive thru for the convenience of not having to get out of your car. For a chain taco place this place is pretty legit! I got tacos de asada, pastor and pescado. The asada and pastor were very well flavored and they are not skimpy with the meat at all. My fish taco was ok, the big pieces of fish were a little dry and it would be nice if they had like a chipotle crema for the salsa bc salsa doesn't quite cut it. We were super hungry and trying to find a good spot on our way to Galveston from IAH, so we decided to stop at The Taco Stand. We're already huge fans of the original San Diego locations, so we had to check this one out... and honestly, it far exceeded our expectations. First off, Melissa was incredibly friendly and accommodating. She made us feel welcome right away and helped us get exactly what we wanted. The service alone was worth the stop. And despite the name, this place is definitely not just a "taco stand." It's pristine, spotless, and beautifully set up and way nicer than we expected, even compared to San Diego. The food was fresh, flavorful, and everything we hoped for after a long travel day. They even make their own tortillas which is a huge plus for us. We left full, happy, and totally impressed. We live further south on the Gulf Freeway and watched this entire huge HEB business complex being built. We actually had some errands to run that were close by so today was the day we decided to stop into this giant complex for lunch. We chose The Taco Stand. The Taco Stand has indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the outside window and find an open table. Today was one of those rare, beautiful, must-eat-outside days in Houston so we took full advantage of it and grabbed an outdoor table. I can imagine the indoor seating would get quite crowded during the hotter months. We both ordered the exact same thing: one shrimp taco on a corn tortilla and one beef taco on a flour tortilla. We ordered them as they come with no modifications. We also ordered chips/queso. Both tacos were good but we both liked the shrimp taco better than the beef. The queso/chips were average at best and I'm not sure we'd order again. The price point is good. Four tacos and queso (with water cups) was $22. There was a definite breakdown in communication when trying to order. We both wanted one beef and one shrimp taco. She originally entered one of each for a total of two. I then explained that we both wanted one of each so it was two orders. She quickly changed it to two beef and two shrimp but when we received the order, the two shrimp were together in the same basket and the two beef were together. Obviously, we could quickly trade tacos in our basket but that shouldn't happen. The Taco Stand had a steady line of customers during the peak lunch rush. They also have a drive-thru if you are so inclined. Bottom line - Decent tacos and below average queso. Indoor and outdoor seating and a drive-thru. Would I eat here again? Yes. Customer service and ambience is great the vibe is pretty awesome,but unfortunately the food is decent. Let's start of with the texture of the tortilla. It's a little thicker than your standard tortilla from the bag but they also don't feel homemade. Wasn't a fan. I do appreciate the amount a meat they put in their tacos though. The suadero dry. Carne asada not much flavor to it and it was dry. Pastor once again not much flavor but I will say it was tender and soft. Agua horchata was very watered down and flavorless. The selection of salsas and condiments was nice. I guess I had high hopes but I rather go to a carnicería, taco truck, or Mexican restaurant to get my tacos. Bad Beryl Gyal This was my first meal when things started opening back up post Beryl. I was ravenous. Not busy at all at 3/4 pm on the Wednesday afternoon post-Beryl. I ordered the supreme burrito w/ carne asada, added cheese and guacamole AND a side of chips and queso, along with a horchata to wash it all down. Like I said, Bad, Beryl Gyal. Ravenous Gyal and I did not care. I was trying to eat everything on their menu after subsisting off non perishable canned fish and nuts for the last couple days. The burrito was ok. There were a few bits of rice that weren't thoroughly cooked and the burrito tasted ok but didn't knock off my medias. The queso, oddly a little spicy, thickened up kinda quickly. The chips got stale towards the bottom of the basket. They had a fairly extensive salsa bar with various salsas, onion, cilantro, lemons, pickled pepper options, etc. I tried the roja, tomatillo and jalapeño salsas. ROJA tasted like watery tomato juice, TOMATILLO was very sour, kinda pickley. I would not eat either of the 2 again. The jalapeno salsa was just right. Not sure if it was bc the other 2 tasted so bad but it complemented my burrito well and was my favorite of the 3. I would eat it again. The horchata was wonderful and it was icy cold. Perfect for a hot day without power. Oh and I had eaten "inside". The whole restaurant feels like it's basically outside. Fresh and airy. But the outdoor patio felt comfy and the inside, where I sat, was fairly cool while still feeling like I was outside. It was nice. The Taco Stand seems like it might be well-behaved dog friendly. I didn't ask but regretted not taking my dog along with me. This was decent, maybe a slight pinch above taco cabana but with an excellent patio and vibe. I wouldn't run back but I'd return. The beef tacos were also dry, not good, & salty af. Both the pork and beef tasted like it was cooked a week before and warmed up in the microwave before serving it. The queso was the worst I've ever had, salty af & just, yuck. my kid who usually loves quesadillas hated the kid's quesadillas. We went here because one day we saw how packed it was and put it on our list of places to visit, & plus, everybody loves tacos right? Yesterday it wasn't as packed so it was a perfect time to stop. I'm glad my Brother in law took me and my son here. Service: Line was a bit long probably 6-7 people so a worker came and took orders on a device which was helpful for the person behind the window. In this process he helped with suggestions and recommendations also. I forgot my buzzer and he came to give it to me. They kept the "condiment" station refilled consistently. Food: I got a carne asada and pollo taco on corn and my son got a cheese quesadilla. The worker was good in asking if I wanted the kids one but I opt out since regular cheese quesadilla was cheaper and my son wouldn't eat all his sides. It was good for the both of us. First we tried the suadero it was good, but in my opinion it lacked a little salt, it would've been bomb! Also tried the barbacoa, this taco melts in your mouth, perfect texture, the only thing is that salt was missing also. Then we had the chicharron, the flavor was so good a little spicy acidic and meaty! Great taco! Then we had the carnitas taco, so flavorful, tender, definitely my favorite meat of all 4! We had all the tacos on corn tortillas, both corn and flour are homemade, really good! Everything is made from scratch including the sauces and pickled veggies, which are amazing! Been here a couple of times and both times were decent. Customer service was 10/10. Everyone looked like they were working hard. The food was an overall 7/10. The meat that they put in the tacos burritos, ect was decent, and flavorful. The tortillas was OK at best. My favorite thing on the menu is the Horchata/ Horchata Iced Coffee. Such a sweet evening spot to hang out after work. I don't work too far from this food plaza off of el dorado and this has become a regular spot for me and my coworkers to enjoy. We pretty much stay until they close every Friday. Great service team and Diego is always killing it. Solid beer choices I just wish the drinks weren't so expensive for what you get. $12 for a small Frozen margarita is a little overkill. Still a great drink though.
