Went for Sunday Brunch. The crab benedict was a let down, as it was served on biscuits that were dense and kinda tough. I. knew they offered biscuits as a base, but never figured they'd default to a non-standard prep, if they offer the dish made correctly. The poached eggs and hollandaise were good, though. The tiramisu was very good, as always. The standout was the "Fallston Sour" cocktail which, although expensive, was outstanding. read more

A mixed bag. I've been here a few times now. Most of my experiences have been better than my most recent lunch visit, which featured slow and strangely unfriendly service. I ordered a burger, and my server asked how I wanted it cooked, but the kitchen did not deliver it, a pet peeve of mine (if you just make everything well done, fine, but then don't ask!). Other than that, the burger was good, but perhaps there's a French fry shortage I don't know about, because the kitchen was pretty stingy with them. My daughter's mac and cheese, which she didn't eat all that much of at the time, gave her a stomachache. The rest of the food seemed fine, but everything (ordering, food, check) took a very long time. Other experiences have been better, although I would suggest skipping the pizza, which is not great. read more

We had the most excellent seafood dinner there last night. We had cream of crab soup the best we've ever had, calamari Yum Yum Yum, and two seafood dinners, salad, and bread. Our waitress was amazing. She was funny. She was attentive. She was on target all night long. Guys if you're looking for anniversary date night go to Basra Pasta! On Sunday evening my family and I decided to come here for the first time , I thought the place was very cute and our server was very friendly and on top of everything! On the downside there was a gentleman who I believe is a busser , who would walk around in constant circles which I do understand is part of the job , but this man made my family and I very uncomfortable. He would be looking directly at me and at one point I looked up to his eyes glued to my breast. It was very disturbing and unprofessional. Basta Pasta used to be one of our go to places, but after a lunch on Wednesday, we may not go back. First off the starter salad they serve with the meal has definitely gone down in quality. It had 2 cherry tomatoes, 2 cucumber slices , 3 black olives and the rest lettuce. Very little dressing. Here come the real issue. My wife ordered chicken francaise with angel hair pasta on the side with francaise sauce. When her meal was delivered there was barely any sauce on the pasta so we asked for some more. The waitress said she would have to charge us al$1 extra for the sauce. If they serve a dish inadequately sauced why should I pay more for there mistake. Next, I ordered spaghetti and meatballs but I didn't want marinara sauce on my pasta and opted for garlic and oil, snd marinara on my meatballs. The meatballs came out cold and they really had no clue how to make garlic and oil pasta. I can accept the bad garlic and oil pasta but to charge extra for sauce that should have been on my wife's pasta already is unacceptable. Times are tough for restaurants but they seem to be getting cheap or cutting back on quality. I hope for their sake they think about what they are doing. They are lucky there is not much competition around. read more

I ordered 3 in one dish. Lasagna, Stuffed shells, Chicken Parmigiano. My dish of food was an inch high. Covered in sauce and mozzarella. I had to fish threw the sauce and cheese to find the chicken and the shells. Lasagna, I'm not sure ..... i asked the waitress, what is this? She replied, I dont know. I'll ask my manager. He stops over. He's telling me it's lasagna! I'm Sicilian, I know what lasagna is. I've ordered from various restaurants. Never saw anything like this. Bottom piece pasta, thats it. I told him I'm not satisfied, I wasn't going to pay. He said I have too... i asked, no compromise, he said no. It's a half of lasagna. I said what? An inch high?! For years we would visit the Timonium location until it shut down during covid. We lost our favorite server Matthew and wanted to see if this location knew of the last location. This location is inside a small shopping center in the middle of nowhere . The place has ample seating and space including a bar area. There weren't many people there so everything came out hot and fast. Our waitress was very attentive offering suggestions. We tried the dessert of the week called Chocolate Fireball it's chocolate mousse in a chocolate shell placed on top of 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream with fresh berries and whipped cream to garnish. once at the table, the manager Nick lit a small pour of Cointreau on fire and poured it into the mousse melting the chocolate shell. If I could give this place 0 stars I would, the food was horrible, soup and pasta tastes watery, even the iced tea was more water then anything. The manager Nicholas was completely unprofessional and ignorant and really needs some lessons in how to address and speak with customers. Split food with my husband and was also charged $8 but it didn't even come on separate plates so I don't even understand the point of charging the $8. WOW!!!! Had our business dinner here last night. From the smiling hostess who greeted us to all the employees helping our server, we had a PERFECT evening. Huge shout out to Yanni, our wonderful server (absolutely THE BEST) and the bartender, chef and kitchen team who presented us with perfect sangria, delicious appetizers and dinner!!! I hope I mentioned everyone---you all have this thing down! After a bad experience years ago, we finally decided to try Basta Pasta again. Definitely won't be returning. The food was -just okay- but the service was less to be desired. We met friends for lunch, for a total of 4 people. The server sat us before our guest arrived which was fine. The waiter took our drink order and we decided to start with water. We explained we had 2 more people coming so he brought water for the entire table - great; but he never asked if we wanted anything else to drink. It took the waiter 15 minutes before even taking our order and the place was not busy in the least. Nobody ever came to check to see if the food tasted okay. We had to flag down someone to get more water. It was simply lack of attention to detail when a nicer restaurant should have these etiquette issues taken care of easily. When we were finished with our meal, nobody asked if we wanted dessert. Just a PSA, if you're in the restaurant business, ALWAYS asks patrons if they want dessert or anything else. They may say no, but many times they'll say yes if asked. That's revenue you're missing out on. Lastly, one of the specials was Eggs Benedict and the waiter didn't know if it had Canadian bacon on it or not. Just an overall 'meh' experience and confirmed that we don't want to ever go back. read more

We had dinner there as a party of four, recently and won't be back My wife and I weren't very hungry so we ordered a platter dish to split. We were told that there would be an eight dollar split plate fee. I have never heard of and have never been charged a split plate fee in much better, way less parachiol restaurants than this. Plus, it was a large dish once it arrived. We also had been there for lunch a couple of months prior and decided to go back because the location was convenient for the two people we were meeting. We noticed that they didn't offer any of the non-pasta, better tasting items that are on the lunch menu like burgers, and the steak sandwich. Sometimes you don't want pasta or seafood, you just want simple burger. The food was mediocre to poor. The sauce on the our platter tasted like they had literally dumped a can of tomato paste on the plate. It had a very acidic, not cooked or flavored taste. Others said their dishes were just ok. Considering the high prices for pasta dishes, we expected much, much better. The prices were not justified at all. The service was very good and we left a generous cash tip for that reason kniwing it's not the servers fault that the owner charges a ridiculous split plate fee. Had the food been very good (or maybe even good), we wouldn't mind the the fee. However, when you combine that with the quality of the food it's definitely enough for all four of us to decide that we will NOT be returning. There are too many much better options right down the road without "split plate fees." read more

On Saturday the 29th 2024. I wanted to do Basta Pasta for a family dinner because we were basically tired of turkey. So on Friday night the 28th I called and placed an order for a tray of lasagna, a tray of baked penne pasta, 15 meatballs, a large salad and bread stick. Talking with the person who took my order, they told me that it would be enough to feed 8 to 10 people. ****Now the good part, the order was ready on time, the total was as quoted, the trays actually feed 9 adults and 2 children with left overs! We had an event in which Basta Pasta catered and it was a hit! From start to finish the process of ordering the food, figuring out how much food was needed and finalizing what we wanted, it was nothing but smooth! The food was delicious, and honestly was the hit of the night! The portions were amazing, even with everyone filling their plates and going back for seconds , will still had two half trays of the entree food left over. Just came back from having a wonderful dinner with my son and daughter their kids and my husband. Visiting from Tampa. FL and always ask to go to your place when we are here. Your food is outstanding and our server, Cameron, was excellent checking on us many times to see if we needed anything. We're from NJ originally where good Italian food is taken for granted but didn't expect the high quality of what your place offers in a small MD town. Came here to celebrate Mother's Day with the family. We had reservations and we're taken to the table. Once our entire party was present. I have been to this restaurant in the past and they revamped the interior design which makes it feel so much more open and elegant. The service has consistently been amazing. Despite how busy it was, our food came out quickly, and our server was attentive when we needed additional plates or drink refills. Our table got about six appetizers in total to split amongst all the guests. My favorite was the burrata ! All the appetizer plates were cleared off within a matter of minutes! For dinner, I got the scallop and shrimp Luciano - absolutely divine. Scallops were cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. Shrimp were huge!! For dessert I got the chocolate dipped cannoli, it was the perfect portion for me to snack on something sweet after my filling dinner. Obviously with all that food ordered we did take home leftovers and was able to enjoy the food the next day. Drink wise, I got espresso martinis, which were silky smooth and had the three signature garnish coffee beans on the top. Definitely recommend for a family dinner out !! read more

I love this restaurant! It tops chain Italian restaurants every time. Portions are huge, i.e. plan a take-home bag. Appetizers look great for a good start to a hearty meal. We knew we were in trouble when we glanced at other diners' plates. We went right for entrees. House dressing on crisp, loaded-with-colorful-vegetables, garlic bread sticks fresh and crispy outside, soft inside, all tasty. I enjoyed a satisfying plate of eggplant parmigiana. Wow! I'll get this again! My included side of pasta with marinara sauce (I chose penne pasta) went home with half of my eggplant and some breadsticks. Expectations were seriously dashed this evening. As a treat, for a "take away decent dinner night" we ordered: spaghetti/meatballs, chicken carbonara and the Italian Platter. For take-away, I don't have any expectations regarding "playing" of course. But my carbonara was SO disappointing, I had to deconstruct it, put it into a skillet and "fix" it! The sauce (which obviously is the same for dine in and take away) is absolutely flavorless. As a salt-sensitive person, i actually had to ADD not only salt & fresh cracked pepper and sage in order to give the butter/cream sauce some flavor! There were 5 1.5-inch pieces of asparagus stem (no tips) and 4 1-inch pieces of pancetta. I chopped up the pancetta and sautéed that first to render the chunks down more. There was abundant chicken pieces, but they were huge, "cowboy" chunks of chicken...not a presentable ready nor neatly sliced pieces, and overcooked/dry. The mess looked like a peasant dish, not the somewhat elevated Italian dish I was expecting and hoping for. As I fixed it in the skillet and chopped the Hunks of chicken down, I got more and more annoyed- hence this review. After salt, cracked pepper & sage I finished it with a healthy squeeze of lemon. NOW It Tasted good, but I'm pissed. My daughters spaghetti and meatballs didn't have enough sauce for the pasta included. I didn't expect the world, just decent food, especially for a $30 entrees. It isn't hard to make good food. It just takes someone who cares about what they're putting out. read more
