I normally never leave reviews or complain, I am the type of person even if i don't like my nails i will just pay for them and move on but today i went into venice nail spa and had a man who cut my finger pretty good and i felt that everything was very very rushed , there was only one lady in front of me waiting to get her nails done so idk why it was so rushed, i felt he was very aggressive with moving around my hands and yanking on my arms and obviously cutting into my thumb with one of the electric medal cutters used for acrylics, i was clearly bleeding and there was a bit of a gash in the top of my thumb. I can't speak for any of the ladies working there i'm sure they are great but i am only speaking from my experience. I have been coming here, irregularly for about 10 years. I do not have acrylic nails, I do not have long nails, short nails because I am very active and do not like the feeling of long nails. I also do not like Gel, because the damage it does to the nail and the skin, I do not want, however I do like to get my nails done. My most recent visit to this store I was greeted I said I wanted just a regular manicure and a paraffin wax. I received both, however, I will say this was the worst manicure I have ever gotten. My daughter thought I had done it myself. Paint immediately chipped. Skin was not removed of all imperfections. I will never return. Paid $70 for a volcano pedicure last week, service was ok. Man was just too aggressive and made me flinch back multiple times. Also had very long nails and kept scratching me. Was more focused on getting me out of his chair than what I was getting. It was been maybe 1 week? 2 weeks? And two toes of nail polish have completely came off in the shower. Unfortunate. I have gone here several times, but I went on June 5 because I was leaving for a wedding and asked for white tips. He didn't take off the old pieces of nail. He filed my nails down very rough wasn't happy at all. The manager replied to me, saying, let us make you happy again, so I went back today, July 2 because I've been out of town for three weeks Showed the guy the message so he gave me white tips. Very nice job however he did not offer me any sort of discount and I asked and his reply was I did a good job though right, yes you did, but I should've got a discount or something for the first job which was terrible And I was ignored so this time I didn't leave a tip at all. I regret doing that but you know what I've paid over $100 the first one sucked my nails were terrible. My hands look terrible and I thought they would make it right but they didn't and this was the manager of the spa so I won't be going back and I won't refer anybody there. I wanted to like this place as other customers coming and going seemed very pleased with their service, but I felt rushed, discounted, and not listened to while I got a dip mani from Tim. I had a dip set with tips on from my previous mani somewhere else, and first I asked if we could be as gentle as possible with my natural nail underneath by not using the drill all the way down to the natural nail -- would he please file off just the top layer and soak the rest off with acetone? He kept shaking his head and brushing me off, drilling WAY down to the point where it felt hot on my nail bed and I was squirming. I asked a total of 3 times throughout and annoyed, Tim took the drill to his own thumbnail and blasted a layer off and said, "See? It doesn't hurt your nail." (...right). This was enough for me to feel anxious about the remaining time there but I continued to stick it out. He didn't use any acetone AT ALL, leaving chunks of my old dip all over my now hacked up natural nails and leaving the old tips on. I asked about that and he said we are going back with a dark color "so we don't need to take all of it off." I thought this was odd and unsanitary but he just kept going. As he filed he was rushing and very rough. I asked for 3 layers of dip (which is standard when you have tips on to avoid the bump in the seam), which he obliged but EACH dip was like 3 layers! He wasn't doing thin, even layers -- he was dipping it repeatedly each time, leaving me with SUPER thick, gross looking claws. And finally, I wanted a sharp almond shape and showed him a photo (kind of like stiletto but shorter and rounder) and he went straight stiletto -- I asked a couple times to go shorter and he said it would look weird. Basically nothing I asked for was obliged and I was treated like an annoyance rather than a client he wanted to make happy. I ended up with heavy, thick, ugly nails with uneven, messy cuticles and I couldn't wait to go somewhere else and get them off. The only positive experience I had here was a pedicure with John. He was very kind, personable, and gave an awesome pedicure. Unfortunately I would never go back to Tim. Not sure why he has so many positive reviews. My new spot is in the same building -- Modern Nails. They do incredible work and Stephanie and Vivian are meticulous, friendly, and strive for perfection in customer service and art! read more

Terrible service for a dip replacement. First, the guy burned my fingers multiple times running the drill too high while taking the old dip off. Then he was sloppy with the new coat. after just one day the clear top coat started to peel off. the setting is unwelcoming which is surprising as it's a newly opened salon. I am SO disappointed with this place. I went to a nail place downtown and was upset that my polish started peeling 2 days after it was applied. I HAD to have my nails done for a wedding that I was going to in the middle of nowhere New York. I was leaving on Friday at 6am so my only option was to get my nails done on Thursday. I saw that this place was a minute away from work and went there on my lunch break. They sat me promptly, took my "old" polish off, and proceeded to give me a French manicure polish change in less than 10 minutes. I was AMAZED at how fast it was, and my polish looked great. The woman even said she used "gel" on my nails so it would "last a really long time". This stuff was amazing... my nails were dry in 2 minutes. Friday 6am: the polish on my thumb was chipping Friday 6pm rehearsal dinner: polish on both index fingers chipping Saturday 11am (getting ready for wedding): every single nail was chipped or cracked or peeling. I was hiding my nails from the photographer, they looked awful Monday 6:30pm: My fiance looks at my hands and says, "I can't believe how crappy your nails look already". Mind you, he does not pay attention to nail polish. Tuesday: Almost all of the polish was off. This was not a cheap polish change. I paid $10 +$2 tip for my polish to last less than 12 hours. Boo. I went to get my nails done today. I do the gel manicure because it lasts longer. It started off well. They did a good job cleaning my old mani. She cut the cuticles off, and then started to paint. Sadly my nails started getting bubbles. She started cutting them off slowly, refinishing, then I asked for a spider web design. She couldn't draw it, so I asked for a sticker. She ended up saying only one sticker. As in I can have only 1 sticker. What? As you can see, I wanted 4 stickers because of the colors I chose. Another person had to come fix what she couldn't do, and told me I can "have" the stickers. When finally she finished, and I went to pay, I was charged an extra $10 for the stupid stickers. WTH? I was in the car when the manager came out to smoke, I told him about the charge, he offered to cancel and redo the transaction. That's the only reason for 3 stars. That and the mani wasn't bad except for all the little details. I was in a hurry and at that point just very frustrated about the extra $10 for the stupid stickers. I didn't have time to go redo the transaction. Overall, the safety was there w masks and sealed tools. I think I just didn't get lucky with a person who knew about the way the place charges? This isn't my typical go to place but I have been here before and saw Tim (he's great minus the smoking cigarettes and not washing his hands after ... reasoning on why i stop going in the first place ). I love Jack and Mary's work! Mary seems to have a lot of experience in doing acrylic nail. She shaped my nail to make them seem as if they are real. Not only that, she spent time massaging my hands resulting from hours on the computer. She spoils me completely! After hours in heels at work, Jack spent time massaging my toes. He took care of them diligently resulting from hours in sandals from so cal. Oh and make sure to ask for "shatter" nail product. They make your nails look as if it's crack and very rock like. They made my experience at a nail place away from home- very homey. Both have their own experiences that made my little escape so wonderful. How was I to know it was so OLD before selecting it? THEN the half assed rebase. Seriously if I didn't know better I would've thought this guy dug trenches all NIGHT LONG THE NIGHT BEFORE! NO EFFORT! and like an idiot I wanted the matching polish as my toes. Ohhhhhhh.....WOE IS ME! I should have gotten up in the middle & left. I paid, but no tip. AND AFTER TWO DAYS MY NAILS WERE TACKY & SMUDGY! I know they weren't happy they couldn't talk me into a gel polish but I KNEW I didn't intend to keep the blah color on for more than 3 days so why pay for gel? The salon looks great from the parking area, it's not hard to find the salon BUT in all of my life I have never seen such lazy or unfriendly people! I would have given 4 stars but she dug into my big toe with the clippers and it hurt enough I said ow! and jerked my foot back. I've come here a few times in the past for pedicures, which went great, so I decided to come here when my bf (now fiancee) told me to get my nails done for our trip home back east. Tim did beautiful pink and white gels with rhinestones (all by the fiancee request). They came out beautiful! Turns out, and I should've known, that my nails needed to be picture worthy for him to propose!!! Even after a one week growth, my nails with the new ring, looked phenomenal!
