I think they have the best pizza in town. It is very similar to Subs 'n suds, but the buttery garlic sauce they serve with it along with the pepper puts them over the top. The dough is made fresh and the cheese and sauce are awesome. I have also tried the wings , fries and Stromboli. I would only rate those 3 stars. The wings are slimy unless you get the seasoned wings and are on the small side. The Stromboli is dry. Moral of the story, stick to the best in town pizza! read more

Venice is always a late night go to based on price, service and having a yummy pizza! The woman taking orders on the phone is always extremely nice and helpful. Unfortunately tonight, we ordered pepperoni pizza sticks and were very unhappy with the outcome. The size has gotten extremely small, and there was barely any cheese on the sticks. Not the pizza sticks I once knew and loved! To be fair we were told this was the first time anyone had ordered them in three months, but I was still hoping for melty gooey cheese. Be advised if dining in.....it's going to take awhile to get your food. It's worth it if you're prepared to wait. I would recommend ordering the food for delivery or pick up. Delicious, but could be frustrating to dine in the restaurant. This place is definitely not intended to serve a dine-in crowd. There were two regular sized booths, another one that had unfolded pizza boxes all over it and a two person booth that needed to be cleaned first. My first thought was, "i made a mistake coming here" but we were hungry and tired and there was only one table of 3 college students in the restaurant so i decided to go for it. The menu has the usual choices that a decent, non-franchise pizza place typically offers. All of the drink choices are bottled, and there is plenty of variety, but I prefer fountain drinks when eating in. We ordered a calzone, chicken parmesan pasta and a 4" pizza with 3 bottled sodas=$35. There is no waiter/waitress. They bring the food to the table and that is all. Our food was delivered in stages....the pasta arrived first. Several minutes later the calzone and large pizza arrived (large pizza ordered by a friend who came with us. order placed AFTER we ordered our dinners). Several minutes after that, the personal pizza arrived. I wish it had come all at once....or to the children in our party first. It was uncomfortable staring at food on the table but not eating it out of courtesy to the people who hadn't yet received their meals. In fact, a party of two came in about 10 minutes after us and received their pizza before we received ours. I'm not sure what's going on in the kitchen with the order management....but it needs some dramatic improvement. When we inquired about when the meals might arrive at our table, we were told it needed to go through the oven twice. I'm not a scene-making kind of person so I let it go. Despite the really awful order management, the food was fantastic. The calzone had a butter garlic sauce over the crust that made it very delicious. A friend who sat at our table ordered a pizza with bacon and pepperoni...it too was extremely good. The bacon was whole crispy strips, layered between cheeses, not the wimpy bacon pieces that are so common these days. My son raved about the pasta, claiming that it rivaled the sauce served at a very high end restaurant in Pittsburgh. He is quite the marinara snob and I trust his assessment. My other son had a lovely personal pizza, very clearly homemade and much enjoyed. We stayed another night in Indiana. The friend that accompanied us on our trip placed a to-go order the following day for the same pepperoni/bacon pizza to take home to her spouse to try. He shared the same enthusiasm about it's taste. read more

Great pizza place! Kind of a hidden gem of Indiana. If you want reasonably priced, great tasting food, order from Venice! The staff is always so nice on the phone and in person. We ordered from Venice a few times but had stopped before the new owners took over. Today was our first time with the new ownership in place. WOW was it a pleasant surprise. We ordered wings, pepperoni rolls, a couple gyros and a hoagie and the food was fresh and hot when I brought it home. I was especially pleased with the wings because I usually don't "do" takeout wings - they tend to get soggy sitting in their box. These lost only the smallest bit of crispness, and the buffalo sauce had great flavor - not just hot sauce and margarine, but garlic and what tasted like the tiniest bit of clove or maybe nutmeg. I dipped the pepperoni rolls in the wing sauce rather than the marinara because it tasted so good! We are definitely going to be back, especially since the owner is so friendly. read more

the entire time I was there I listened to the employees fight in the back. The owner that waited on me was so rude. Didn't want to answer any of my questions about his menu items. It was $22 for a small salad and a wrap which is completely outrageous if you ask me especially considering there was barely any meat on my salad. I appreciate that the website to order is simple and that you can add comments. I placed a delivery order that was to be here in 45-60 minutes, paying an extra $2 for delivery and $1.50 "convenience" charge. My order showed up 90 minutes later. I received no phone call to tell me it was late, and no apology from the driver until I made a comment. I didn't get plates or napkins like I asked. My salad didn't have cheese or french fries that are standard, the croutons weren't crunchy, and the chicken was dry. My kids were half asleep by the time food finally showed up, so I wasted $40. I tried calling multiple times, but I keep getting hung up on. WAY TO GO! What a joke! How can a business like this exist? read more

Venice is one of the best restaurants in Indiana. My favorite thing is their fries with cheddar cheese sauce...BEST CHEESE FRIES EVER!! I ordered pizza here last year using a coupon. I went in ordered it for takeout and came back a half hour later. When I came back they forgot to put the order in so I had to wait in store for another half hour while they made my order. The pizza was great, don't get me wrong. The service was terrible however. It seemed like it was all new people, so that could've been the issue, but it didn't look like there was a manager there. It was not busy either, this was on a weekday around 8 o clock. I didn't receive any coupons or anything like that despite them forgetting my order. The menu was extensive, just regular pizza and what not. Honestly worst customer service ever. I waited 2 hours for my pizza to arrive. Got told "shut up" and the manager argued with me about how it's my fault for the ticket times. My husband and I arrived and placed our order of hawaiian stromboli and chef salad. 45 minutes after that we finally get both. There was no reason for it to take 45 minutes!!! There were 6 tables in the restaurant and 2 were occupied, so I know they weren't swamped. The people that sat at the other occupied table came in about 15 minutes after we sat down. They received their meal about 15 minutes after we did, but not before one of the employees sat to eat her lunch. My chef salad was nothing to brag about in the least. In fact, I had to grab pepper from another table since ours didn't have it and douse mine with pepper. I normally do not add salt or pepper to my salad since the dressing and food has enough flavoring alone. My husband's stromboli was mainly bread and grease. So $30 and 45 minutes later, we understand why we never see people eating there. It was overpriced and disappointing. If you must eat here, expect to wait a long time for your food!! read more

We placed an order for the Superbowl. I had already figured the wait would be long, that is not the issue. We tipped 15% when we placed our order the total came to $67.00 When the food arrived i noticed my Steak and Cheese Wedgie was in fact a calzone. Seeing as how i had waited i was hoping the accuracy of the order would be correct. I called back explained calmly that i would like the correct item brought to the house. The owner was to be the one bringing it. Perfectly fine. Another hour goes by my correct item comes i kindly hand back the item i did not order. The owner then proceeds to give me a talk "it is not right to gwt angry on Superbowl night and yell at my employees, it ia not in the least okay." Once again i did not raise my voice, i placed blame on noone yet get a pep talk. Very unprofessional on the owners part. He did give 2 coupons for free pizzas. Absolutely worst customer service. My family has been regular customers of Venice for several years. We often stop in after sporting events and bring the team along. We order frequently and place very large orders, as we are a family of 5. So, as you can imagine, I was extremely disappointed today after seeing the true colors of management. I placed an order for lunch, I had a coupon for a 9 in hoagie, lb of fries and can of soda for 9.99, total 11.59. The coupon had no expiration and came from a recent menu. The lady on the phone was extremely rude and kept asking me if I was sure it wasn't a Pizza Hut coupon. I am not illiterate, the menu clears reads "Venice". She would not take my credit card number until the driver arrived to check the coupon. So,now the driver is standing on my porch in 15 degree weather with my food getting cold while I phone them back. I'm told the coupon is no longer valid and my new total would be 16.80. I'm upset and say I no longer would like the food. The lady begins to scream at me and tell me that this is my fault and I HAVE to pay. I have never been spoken to like this by anyone I am giving my business to, ever. She doesn't try to work with me, or find another coupon, just continues to be overly nasty and rude. I paid for my food, but assured them it would be my last order. I open my food, and it's a small package of fries, maybe 20 in total, no where close to a lb and everything is now cold. The pizza was delivered in a timely manner, so yay another star! however upon arrival the very first thing I noticed was a curly, black hair cooked in the cheese...it was sticking out gross puke we then found ANOTHER HAIR. And right about then was when I'm done with this "restaurant" forever. I realize every now and then, mistakes happen. Honestly an underappreciated restaurant in Indiana. I have ordered Venice Pizza a few times and gotten different food every time. None have ever disappointed. The pizza is a good break from the chain pizza taste of other options, and they run specials specifically for IUP students, of which, Venice Pizza is only a few feet off campus.
