Honestly the worst tasting menu I've ever had. One of those restaurants that's interesting for the sake of being "interesting" instead of being delicious. Usually at the end of a tasting menu we'll talk about our favorites, but at the end of this one there was no real favorite. Their "signature" dish (the one which hasn't left their menu) is ravioli with barely any filling and an extremely bitter salad. Why? Not sure. Every dish tasted off and super funky - nothing was filling or all that flavorful, and I really didn't want to finish anything. Would recommend saving your money for a different Michelin meal

"chips" that tasted more like a paper towel, muscles in some sort of rancid slime, and an oyster ball?

This restaurant is beautiful and staff were professional. Food was terrible. My husband and I were excited for the Michelin star experience and went in with open minds for an interesting menu. I am all for sustainability, but they literally present the meal as the leftovers and scraps from their sister restaurant. They include the phrase "food waste" on their menu. If you went to any other restaurant and they told you that they took the discarded remains from the fish that they used at the Sister restaurant and came up with a creative way to utilize it in a dish for you and charged you €220 you'd be outraged. My husband and I tried to find the positive in this meal, but there weren't a lot of them. Everything came out looking beautiful, but tasted terrible for the most part. Even the sourdough bread, which is hard to ruin, came out, overly done and difficult to eat. We opted not for the wine pairing and I'm glad as I looked around and saw that others were getting a very tiny poor for each pairing. Definitely not worth €90. We did get a lot of laughter out of this meal and it was an experience for sure, but not worth the money. it was almost comical how they explained each dish. Stating things like the chef tried to figure out how to use the pumpkin skin that would normally go to waste so he made it into a dish for you. Everything had a strong almost sour taste. I would not go back and I'd love the 3 hours of my life and €500.

Regretfully, this was one of our most disappointing dinners while in Italy. We were very excited about our dinner here after hearing about the farm to table concept and the lovely boat ride over. We were seated at our table upon arrival at which point I requested the vegetarian tasting and two of my dining companions requested the wine pairings. Right off the bat, they forgot to provide the wine pairings which wasn't a huge deal but did seem like an odd fumble for a Michelin starred restaurant. The food itself was mostly underwhelming. I enjoyed several of my vegetarian dishes but my dining companions had several dishes that they declared inedible. By the time dessert arrived and was eggplant I thought my husband was going to riot. It was made all the more frustrating since this was our most expensive dining experience while on vacation. Beautiful restaurant, but wouldn't recommend it to friends & family.

Venissa is an amazing Michelin star restaurant on the island of Mazzorbo (next to the island of Burano). This was my 2nd time going for the 7 course dinner (which they drive you to / from Venice San Marco via water taxi). The meal isn't cheap, but as far as fine dining goes this is one of the best options in Venice. Food 4.5/5: We had the vegetarian 7 course menu, which Venissa does very well. You can taste the freshness of their ingredients and they do a great job of serving traditional dishes with unique flavor profiles. Some of the highlights to me were the bitter greens empanadas, crouton cracker with cabbage and mushrooms, and the wormwood ravioli. My only criticism would be the desserts, which I thought were a bit weak compared to the rest of the menu. Service 5/5: Venissa service and location is amazing, as you'd expect for a restaurant of this caliber. The service is attentive, prompt, and very accommodating. Ask them to talk to you about their golden wine!

Preface: It is hard to believe that just three weeks ago I was walking the ancient streets of Venezia enjoying the beauty of its culture and hospitality of its people. Warm, welcoming, deeply protective of their culture. It is so tragic to see the damage from the record setting acua alta and heartbreaking to think we who have laid eyes on the beautiful city are all responsible for its slow death. Thoughts and prayers. ***** A Michelin one that exemplifies the passion and pride of the Venetian people. Outstanding food, yes, but Venissa is most famous for the rare and unique wine produced on the estate. Dorona di Venezia, the indigenous grape of Venezia. Re-cultivated from only a few surviving ancient vines. Today, the only vineyard, one hectare of salt tolerant vines that produce a mere 3500, 500ml bottles a year. It is bottled in Murano glass with the gold foil labels created by the last remaining family of smiths in Venezia. Mention it to any Venetian, they beam with pride that this is a part of their culture. Orange in color, slight hint of oxidized citrus notes and the faintest touch of salt. Racy acidity balanced by high alcohol (13 percent). Beautiful complexity with a finish that goes on and on. Pairs well and evolves with food. The red wine, from a very young vineyard on the mainland, a Bordeaux blend (80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet) is reminiscent to a young and sexy Saint Emilion. Restrained fruit, silky smooth tannins, some aging potential. To the food . In a word, outstanding. Seasonal, inventive, treated simply to tease out flavors. For example, deep-fried, flour dusted sardines, head and bones removed, are served atop a beet root purée. The sweetness of the fish is enhanced while the oceanic flavors pair with the earthiness of the beet. The second sauce made from squash does the same with nod to the season. Another example, a sublime squid ink pasta with mussels. Briny pasta with citrusy notes reinforced by the mussels and balanced by rich, peppery extra virgin olive oil. Finally a pan roasted, crispy filet of blackfish. Perfect cook to medium. The clean tasting fish balanced by a highly glutinous potato puree seasoned with lemon alongside bitter chicory. Each component alone good. Together, brilliant! Excellent, friendly and proper service. Stunning indoor / outdoor dining with views of the vineyard. Reservations required. Fluent English. A must visit.

Amazing food and great service. Worth it if, but only if, you can spend 300 euros on a dinner!

A combination of a thunderstorm and an early dinner meant the place was empty, but Marco and other staff welcomed us warmly all the same. We had the antipasti Parmigiana Di Melanzane (fried eggplant with cheese) and enjoyed the mains Pasta Al Forno (baked pasta with beef and peas), Pasta Con Le Polpette E Salsa Di Pomodoro (spaghetti with meatballs - not pictured), and Turbante Di Pesce Spada "A Beccafico" (baked swordfish). These were also with the Casa Rosso wine and Birra Siciliana beer both blonde and red. All food was superb. The fried eggplant was flavorful and fresh, and the bread was crispy and savory. The baked pasta was rich, the spaghetti and meatballs were nostalgic, and the swordfish was delectable. Safe to say we all cleared our plates easily. We wish nothing but the very best for Marco and his restaurant. This food was some of the best we had on our two week stay throughout Italy. The atmosphere, staff, and of course the amazing food made for a great experience that we would recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced homestyle Sicilian meal.

For dinner in peak season, try to make a reservation as the restaurant is very small. We arrived before our reservation time and were seated immediately inside and greeted warmly by the restaurant owner. We ordered a bottle of wine to start (most under 20 Euros for a 75 ML bottle). For appetizers we ordered the cheese with honey for 13 Euros, absolutely amazing! We also combined this with the local olive oil and fresh bread brought to the table to start as well. For our second course we chose two pastas, the Penne Alla Amatriciana (I think it was around 12 Euros), and the Spaghetti Alla Carbonara (I think it was around 12 Euros as well). Both had extremely fresh homemade ingredients and were out of this world and extreme attention to care in the preparation. For our entree we split the breaded pork chop (I think it was around 20 Euros), including a side of potatoes (similar to the steak fries that you would see in the U.S.) The service was absolutely amazing and we loved dining alongside the owner and his family and meeting the cat that also lives at the restaurant and comes by to greet you during the meal as well. It truly was like you were dining at the home of the owner and is a must try if you are in Venice!
