The water is not accessible from the sites...we were told it is a 60' cliff into the water but we didn't venture close enough to the edge to confirm that. Site 4 felt safer (since we had kids in our group) as it didn't back up to the edge. All of our sites had a little deck near the camper pad but our deck was in a little disrepair (some rotten boards). The sites had electric and water and all had fire rings, too. On the way to the sites (once we were inside the park) the road seemed overgrown and I was wondering if we were heading to the right place. It's definitely tucked away but was a peaceful, mostly empty (maybe because of the raininess of the weekend), campsite. The bathhouse was nice. The showers were a little small but the water was nice and HOT! There was a bit of cobwebs but overall, they really weren't too bad! There is a an area outside each shower with a bench and hooks for towels and clothes. The playground had tape around it (maybe from Covid?) so we didn't use that. There was a dumpster near the bathrooms. Our kids went on some trails, but we didn't go with them, so I can't comment on the trails. On the way out of town, we went to the beach. There's so much potential there but I wasn't impressed at all. It was disappointing. The sand turns into somewhat stinky mud by the time you get to the water line and overall the place looked unkept - some broken picnic tables, overgrown grass, weeds popping all over the nice concrete padded area by the bathrooms. I thought there would be showers, but there is just one outdoor shower good enough for a quick rinse. The bathrooms/shower house at the beach smelled clean (someone even came to clean them while we were there) but overall it was just not nice. The beach just seemed like a place that, in its heyday, would have been so great. Since this review is more about the campsites than the beach, I am not taking the beach into too much consideration. The couple that stays at the site are very nice. They came and introduced themselves to us and gave us a map of the trails and the park. On our way out they have us a hearty wave and asked us to come back soon. The campground was a nice place to camp. We had a great weekend!

Booked a month long stay here to see our son at Murray State. It was off season - quiet and…read morepeaceful. Owners can make or break a campground and these folks are fantastic. They are on site everyday and keep the place well maintained. They are friendly, helpful and not rule crazy like some campgrounds - the only rule I heard was try not to park in the grass. My wife will cram herself in the RV shower to avoid public showers, but here she was happy to find nice clean restrooms with great shower facilities. Only downside is no sewer on sites but they come around and pump your tanks when needed, which given the availability of great public showers isn't needed more than one a week.

Not only was…read moreit a good value; Danielle (one of the owners) was probably one of the nicest people I've ever encountered at any campground. She got all of our info and told us which site we'd be in. We didn't have to give a credit card to hold the spot and when we got there, our reserve tag was on the site (site 15). She emailed me a site map so we'd know where to go. When she said it was right off the highway and behind the Marathon Station and Motel 6, I started to wonder. But she also said they were in a valley to where you couldn't hear highway noise. We finally got there and it was nice. Literally right off the highway. We took the first right after the Marathon Station and drove down into the campground (which is the only thing down the road). So truly, you could barely see the sign from the Marathon. From my window I can see the motel 6 at the top of the hill (and it looks like a nice one). It's a quaint little campground, only about 30 sites. The owners want to build a bath house and laundry facility. The roads are gravel but the sites are all concrete with a gravel approach pad. There is a dump station as well as firepits and picnic tables at most sites. But, I liked the fact that they are right next to the Livingston Trail system. The gate was closed but my dog and I could get thru/under it. Did I mention it was fall, so the leaves were beautiful. All in all this was a great little place to spend the night. It was quiet and felt very safe to us. If I had things to do in the area, I would definitely stay here for the value. We were in a 43 foot motor home with a tow vehicle and didn't have to unhook.

Drive through the park on the one lane, one way paved 3 mile loop in about 15-20 minutes and saw nothing. Saw dark clouds coming in and it started to sprinkle so we turned to take another loop and saw some elk, male and female, as well as turkeys. It was only $5, and I'll come back again to show my kids and anyone that comes to visit me, but I'lll make sure to visit at either dusk or dawn.

The rooms have outdoor seating in both the front and back of the rooms- a nice surprise! Also have access to the pool (though we didn't have time to use). Next time we will be utilizing the golf cart to get around town! Soon after checking in, we realized our Roku was broken. Veronika was immediately super helpful and we eventually realized the issue and got it fixed right away. While she was apologetic, there was nothing that she had done and fixed the issue right away. The motel is super close to both the local bakery and Patti's so there's plenty of options for local food. Would absolutely return to this location.

Grand Rivers Inn is a typical motel, the kind we would typically pass by in lieu of a nicer, more established chain hotel. I dont mind places like this and am used to staying in them though. Anyway, our room was decent. The inn is a mom and pop operation; this is both good and bad. On the good side, it means its well maintained and you get personalized service. When we got there, there wasnt anybody in the office, but I called the number posted on the door and someone came over from the bar across the street. Later, when we had trouble getting the TV to work, she came to our room and helped to get it working. On the down side, most of the amenities (other than the TV) are a bit old, there's no breakfast and there's not a ton of rooms; you may also not see this place show up on your typical hotel apps. Normally I would rate a place like this 3 stars, but the service was so good and the place had a certain charm about it, so I gave it 4. If I were looking for a place to stay in this area, I would stay here again.

It's located less than 5 minutes from Lake Barkley, about 1-2 minutes from a gas station and Dollar General, and 15-17 minutes from Walmart. Lots of things to do in that area.
