Do not go for Thanksgiving. Let's start off with the salad. It had shredded carrots and it that tasted old not to mention if you didn't like shredded carrots, how are you supposed to eat the salad since it was covered with it? Let's get to the main course. Been looking forward to Thanksgiving stuffing for a while now and there's was not great. If I had my eyes closed, I'm not even sure what I was eating. Mashed potatoes were OK as long as you threw some gravy over them. Butternut squash purée was actually good. Believe it or not the cod with the Ritz cracker topping was actually good but I didn't want to have to eat fish on Thanksgiving. The baked macaroni was a total joke. I tried two different pans one that was older one that was put out brand new. I don't think anybody taste tested them before they put them out. It tasted like flour. It didn't taste like cheese didn't taste like much. I didn't even eat it. The turkey and gravy were fine, but if I closed my eyes, I could've been eaten turkey from a microwave dinner. No big deal there. The ham was another joke you have ham but you have no glaze to put over it. Who wants a piece of ham in a dish without glaze. Oh they had pineapple, but it was canned pineapple and cherries, but no sauce they had mustard on the side. The rice that they served with the dinner was not really hot and it wasn't all that great. Don't get me started on the dessert table! I wasn't the only one complaining people were walking around looking for things to get because all they had was pumpkin pie without any other pies why couldn't they have had apple and pecan pie and also some whipped cream to serve on the side instead, they had chocolate chip cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and cream puffs who the heck wants to eat that! Now I would not be complaining if it was only $30 I could've said OK it passes for a Thanksgiving buffet but when you're paying over $50 with tip included per person, there are a lot of other things I could've gone and had at other places so I will not be returning for Thanksgiving that's for sure. read more

Not a great place. Food is terrible. Building is nice looking on the inside, ugly on the outside. The bathroom had one of the four sinks with soup in the dispensers. There are no towels in the bathroom, just two hand dryers that are 2" apart on the same wall and up against the countertop so only one person can dry their hands at once anyway. I am absolutely disgusted with the behavior from the owners at the Venus de Milo. I grew up right across the street and have been to this establishment hundreds of times. I have never been treated with such disrespect as a customer with an appointment. My fiancé, mother, maid of honor and I made an appointment to come and see the renovations and speak to Monte regarding a quote for our wedding. We walked into the building at 11:45am, as we were excited to see the venue and to meet with Monte. We saw a man walking around with two women and were confused if that was the man was who we were supposed to be meeting with. We were NOT acknowledged, glanced at, and not a single word was even spoken to us. We proceeded to wait patiently for 25 minutes, then my fiancé politely popped his head into the office and asked if there was someone that we could meet with. Monte responded to him with an eye roll and saying "I'll be with you in a few minutes." We had already been waiting for 25 minutes, we were not going to be ignored and then treated like we were a bother. And for Monte to throw those women's information out to the public is completely inappropriate and unprofessional. My soon to be husband served fifteen years in the military and treats everyone with respect; and he deserves that same respect in return. For Monte to say we didn't have patience and that the review was bogus, instead of trying to remedy the situation is what is wrong with this owner. Waiting was not the issue. We went here for Thanksgiving. The food was not that good at all. I was very surprised from what I had remembered in the past. When I got the gravy to put on my turkey I noticed it was a brown color but I figured maybe it was their special type of gravy or something. When I sat down and started to eat I knew what was wrong. I had my family member's baby shower at the beginning of June. Booking the event was easy and I was assured by the President of Venus that everything would run smoothly. For a few weeks leading up to event I had difficulty with responses on confirmation of event details (which made me nervous and definitely was a red flag). Event issues: -requested pink napkins were not available -AC was not working and this made people very uncomfortable and some had to leave. -Food came out later the expected... (this I admit I could have been much more clear about my expectations) -the watermelon on fruit platter was ROTTEN/ SPOILED. It was terrible/ they removed it when I pointed this out. Good points: most of staff were friendly and trying to be helpful. The owner was not present when the event ended and I had to pay the bill. A helpful staff member assured me he would call me. Monti emailed me a few days later and explained all the reasons why things didn't go as planned. He then said "I would like to credit you $250 for your inconvenience.-on June 5th. He offered to mail the check/ I was kind with my response and gave him my mailing address. This was really a small discount given the problems with event. Approximately 1 month later, I had never received check so I stopped by the Venus and left a message with a staff member. 13 days ago I received an email from the owner: "Accounting gave me our check run report this morning, for this week. I just wanted to let you know that the aforementioned refund is en route.....". He noted my correct address. I never received a check/ refund. My wife had requested to make reservations at the newly remodeled and re opened Venus De Milo for Mothers Day which I did. First I would like to mention that in the past my band was one of the House bands to play for weddings there and we had our wedding reception there in 1981, so I have had a positive experience with this function venue. Having said that, I am writing this review with an advantage of comparison to past and present. The Mother's Day buffet was very disappointing and certainly not worth the $54 including tax and gratuity per person price. The buffet consisted of a regular salad and one containing a scarce amount of blue cheese and just two choices of dressings French and Creamy Italian. Also there were two choices of pasta, both were over cooked, one pasta very sweet and inedible, the other was a vodka sauce again sweet and not very good. Potatoes Au Gratin were cooked nicely, as well as the breaded cod. They had a small tall metal canister of seafood bisque, containing shrimp, scallops and lobster... way too creamy and being there was only one of these containers one person at a time can scoop out the contents onto their dishes and many hog this leaving very little for guest waiting to give this a try. I gave this a fair rating as it was not made well at all. The carving table had prime rib and ham, both were again not very well prepared. At the end of your disappointing meal was desert. This was the biggest insult of the day because the server said she would be bringing by a desert tray of which we thought there would be a presentation of several deserts to choose from that they would bring to us separately. I have included a photo of this dish of pittance deserts the size of Halloween candy. Drinks were priced like you would pay at a country club, so you can draw your own conclusion there. Sadly the Venue De Milo has lost its fast ball and the present newly reopen facility does not even come close to what once was. Decorations and table decor was pitiful, however they did spend most of their time preparing a place where family member can take nice photos. It breaks my heart to give a poor review, but I can't misinform people who read my reviews. Let me just say the place was clean and the restrooms were very nice. In conclusion, I don't see a future for Venue De Milo unless they spend the money to get great cooks and learn from the past what made them great and famous. read more

I celebrated Christmas with my family and ordered 3 lobsters and 2 Delmonico potato orders as well as 2 clams casino orders and buffalo chicken. The hors d'oeuvres were fantastic but the potatoes were inedible. The salt content was ridiculous. We tried placing uncooked potatoes in one container and adding lemon juice in the other to cut the salt, but it didn't work because the potatoes themselves must have been boiled in extremely salty water because the Delmonico sauce was fine. . A waste of money. Two of the three lobsters were great. But #3 was mealy and had much less stuffing of lobster than the other two. The lesson? Well, I'll leave that to you. Steak anyone??? read more

Sad What happened to this place? I know it's a wedding assembly line but they used have their signature items and they just are not good anymore. Attended a wedding a few weeks back and I have to tell you the place is depressing. Inedible dried out stuffed chicken dish. Every persons plate had a large ball of disgusting stuffing left over on it. Minestrone soup that tasted like dirty water. There was only one wedding going on this night, the place was empty, and food tasted like it was prepared days in advance. WHY? The wedding only had 60 people at it. I cook for 40 people on a weekend at my house alone and everything is fresh. The whole experience was just sad. Update: The owner replied to a review and did contact me. He has rectified the problem. My granddaughter is thrilled. I have upgraded my rating because of this. I wanted to take my 2 year old grand daughter to Breakfast with Bluey. I called in as soon as tickets were available. The took down all the info including credit card. I never received a confirmation and credit card was not charged. I have called them 4 times and no one has returned my call. I would have preferred they tell me there was a error than to be ghosted. Went to the Venus de Milo for Easter the food and service was excellent. There was 12 of us and we may even be back for Mother's Day.

My family went to the Mother's Day lunch and what a disappointment it was. When we were seated our water glasses were already filled and the water was yellow. We all noticed it immediately. Next, the buffet items were lackluster. A couple of salads, two penne pasta choices , scrod, seafood newburg and then ham and prime rib. The pasta was cold and the pasta with chicken had very little chicken in it, it was just pasta. The seafood newburg was fine but mostly shrimp, it used to be lots of lobster. The prime rib was terrible, none of us ate more than a bite. And then for dessert they brought a plate to your table which was a few macaroons and tiny little pastries. Literally bite size pieces and only one per person. It was definitely not worth the over $500 spent. My in-laws used to go a lot years ago and were really looking forward to it but it was a huge let down. We will never go again. read more

My family went to the Venus for Easter Brunch, let me start by saying it was not very well organized at all! They seem to be very under staffed because it took us quite awhile to even get seated and we had a 1:30 reservation. That was just the beginning, the lines to get food were ridiculous,by the time we got all our food and sat down it was cold. The food was a big disappointment the farm fresh eggs were not real eggs they tasted like somebody made instant eggs.The potatoes were all burn, the sausage was horrible and the ham was dry. Now the chaos begins, the wall behind the food station falls hitting several people and all you heard were people screaming one poor man was laying flat on the floor, several girls were crying and another man had to be helped back to his seat and an ice bag was on his head. The EMT's did get there very fast the man on the floor was taken out in a stretcher and I don't know what happened to the other people. This happened just as we finished our dinner, we didn't get dessert not that there was much of a variety anyway and forget coffee, who knows where are server was! Needless to say we left very disappointed. We paid a lot for a family meal that was nothing but a disappointmen. My family has been to the Easter Brunch several times in the past and it was always well organized and the food was delicious but not this time. Needless to say we will never go back there again. We ordered bakes stuffed lobster for dinner last night and were definitely disappointed! We called in to order 2 baked stuffed lobsters for the following day 8/5/2023 and were told to pick them up at 2:00. We picked them up and went straight home and cooked them. Cost of the 2 lobsters was $140.00. Started to eat them, and inside the tails were mushy. Inside the bodies was mushy. like mashed potatoes. No scallops, no shrimp, just mush. 2 claws were just really weird looking, I was afraid to eat them. I'm a former lobster diver, I'm age 70. I've never seen lobster do this before. These lobsters were either cooked when they were long dead, or frozen and defrosted, or left on the counter overnight...I don't know. We absolutely don't recommend taking out lobster from this place. Ended up throwing away probably 90% of this meal. Do yourself a favor and get fresh lobsters and steam or boil them in your kitchen. You'll be glad you did, and save yourself a hundred bucks, too. I've been eating at the Venus for 30 plus years. I stopped ordering take out, stopped dining in, and only pop in for a function once or twice a year. I think the food has gone down hill. Prices have gotten ridiculous and the atmosphere is no better than a school cafeteria. The writing was on the wall when they started taking tables out of their dining room and closing it up. The last time I ate in the dining room it was half empty on a Saturday night. I had to listen to loud music from the function on the other side of a 2" dividing wall. I thought the tables were going to part and King Kong was going to make an appearance with all the thump, thump, thump. I have to say that's typical for the Venus. I was greeted by a waitress who was missing a front tooth, who, god bless her, spit all over the table when she spoke. I was sure to cover my food with my napkin when she came back to the table. I ordered a salad and fried scallops. I find their soup way too salty. I got my dinner and they gave me half the scallops I was used to getting. I asked for ketchup for my fries, which I never got and I quietly ate my dinner and told myself I would not go back to the dining room. I got the feeling they could have cared less that I was there so I obliged them. I recently went for a $30 a head banquet and was very disappointed. I had their soup, after which I had about ten glasses of water. I had ziti pasta that was so overcooked it fell apart when you picked it up. I had a chicken marsala that was deep fried with a teaspoon of gravy and a mushroom slice on top. The chicken squirted my hand with hot grease when I tried to cut it. Otherwise, it was very dry. It was served with three canned deep fried potatoes that were supposed to be oven roasted and soggy green beans with chocolate pudding for dessert. If I were there on my own, I wouldn't stand for it. If it was my party, I'd be up in someone's face. Alas, I was but a guest but I'm embarrassed for the hosts. I really am. I put up a pic of dinner being a tablespoon of gravy and one piece of mushroom on a split deep fried chicken breast with three deep fried canned potatoes. The Venus De Milo has positives and negatives, but unfortunately the cons outweigh the pros :( Pro: There are lots of banquet rooms of all sizes. Multiple events can take place at once because of this. Con: Because there are multiple events simultaneously, events can lack the intimacy of locations that feel less like a banquet factory. Pro: Tons of parking! Con: It's kind of a pain to get to. Pro: The soup. Con: All the food that isn't soup. Honestly, the pasta was reminiscent of Chef Boyardee. The salad was served with oil and vinegar and no other dressing options (lame), and the entree of stuffed chicken was pretty blah and inferior to the same entree at the West Valley Inn (which at least has separate buildings for separate halls--and the soup's actually better there too if we are comparing soups side by side). I can see how this is a popular venue for banquets, weddings, etc because of the availability of rooms, accessibility, etc, but the food is seriously lacking even when compared side by side with comparable banquet halls. Personally I'd pick the West Valley Inn hands down over Venus De Milo. It's just eh. read more

Venus de Milo delivers building atmosphere (on the inside) in spades and then mediocrity across the board for everything else. We specifically went for the Mother's day brunch, which had mostly acceptable tasting food, a first round of coffee that was drinkable, a second round of coffee that tasted like twice brewed grounds, and a pretty big price tag. Now to be fair, this event was an all you care to eat style buffet, but the price take of 40ish dollars kind of left a sour note, when I could have sat down and had a much more delicious meal for less. Though most of the food offered was pretty humdrum the lobster newborgough (sorry for the spelling) was served with generous lobster chunks, and due to this was nearly always empty. This one dish was pretty darn good, though it wasn't actually warm, so it may not be recommended for those with weaker constitutions or stomachs... Awful food... we had been driving by for the last few years and we finally decided to give it a try. I had heard from a neighbor that we had to try their famous soup. I got the Italian platter... like the other person wrote... two squishy meatballs, one burnt sausage, one dried piece of chicken and pasta with sauce. The other members of my family didn't have a good meal as well. If you are looking for a lobster to beat all others, then go no further!! I have been going to the Venus de Milo for over 30 years and I have never, ever been disappointed once. I have also had many of there other dishes which are sumptuous. You have to try their famous Minestrone soup and to give you an idea how good it is, there is a famous golf resort that has, "Venus de Milo" minestrone soup on their menu. The wait staff are friendly and very professional and the prices are as good as most restaurants in the area. I highly recommend this restaurant to you. read more

I have been to Venus the Milo at least 6 times as a photographer. The place has 4 or 5 different function halls for any kind of event I would say. One distinguishing aspect of Venus de Milo is its Roman architecture theme from the outside. When you come in, you see some clepatra chairs. It has become the favorite spot for more formal pictures of guests. Food was good and I experienced no problem in the several times that I have been there. Time-warpy fifth place in The Great Chicken Parm Caper... Soooo, when other people who don't live in RI and SE Massachusetts eat Venus de Milo soup, what's it called? Is it minestrone? Sheesh, we might as well start telling our kids that a little sprite leaves money for them when they leave a tooth under their pillow. Honestly, though, how many places can claim that they have become the BRAND NAME of soup? Like Kleenex is to tissues? That in itself is a feat. And the soup isn't bad. Basically, this place is the Holy Roman Empire. Recreated. In pink wallpaper and plastic. Plastic statues. Plastic winding ivy. Plastic architectural accents. It really is a site to behold. Since it is primarily a banquet facility, and I understand the need to keep prices low for large-scale events, I get why it is still open and relatively popular. But wait! Little known fact: it also has an open-to-the-public restaurant room ready to cater to your every whimsy! I would say that, for something like a high school honor society banquet, the food is edible (especially that it includes that famous soup)! Sitting in the a la carte area of this crumbling empire, though, I felt like I was sitting in an old dining room, smelling old fryolator grease, eating old food, and drinking old diet coke through two old skinny red straws. I savored my $7 glass of Ravenswood Zinfandel like I never had before. The chicken was overcooked and overbreaded, the pasta was mush-tastic, and the red sauce was bland. The soup WAS good, though. That's one of my two stars unto itself.... Venus de Milo is not quite my aesthetic, but checking it out once in the spirit of irony was enjoyable. Abner and I were feeling down in the dumps this week. A combination of things and we wanted (needed!) comfort food and headed to the Empire Grille. Having only been to the Venus De Milo for functions over many, many years, we just never thought to try out their restaurant inside. It wasn't busy when we first arrived and we were promptly seated in the booth area near the bar. I don't know why they chose to seat us there, as there is an entire dining room on the other side of the partition, but this was our first time there and didn't have the lay of the land yet. The booths must be old, because every time the man in the next booth leaned back into his booth chair, it pushed me forward on the other side. It was very uncomfortable. Drinks: I ordered the pineapple martini, which was delicious. Not too sweet and had 3 little balls of fresh pineapples on skewers. Abner got the expresso martini, which he said was very good. The bread and dipping oil. So good that we asked for more. I ordered the 10 oz. prime rib and paid the extra for the delmonico potatoes and fresh asparagus. The meat was tender, juicy and flavorful. Potatoes had a mild flavor and I enjoyed them very much. Asparagus was crisp and cooked perfectly. Abner ordered a seafood and pasta dish with an al fredo sauce. Our server said the sauce is one of the best and that Abner would not be disappointed. She was right. He loved it. We ate half our meals and brought the other have home because we wanted dessert too. Our server brought out a large tray of a variety of desserts. We picked the chocolate lava cake. I thought the dessert was just okay. It came with ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce, but the lava cake itself just didn't seem warm enough. It should be oozing a little and there was no oozing. The vanilla ice cream had a blandness about it also. Decor seems outdated, reminiscent of the 1980's. Service was excellent. Had a rather large menu too. Note to Management: Use the booth area as seating as last resort. Our first experience here would have been better if we had been seated in the dining room with tables that had table linens. The booth chairs are too old and worn down that they bend and annoys those seated back to back. Overall, we enjoyed our meals and will return. If you're into bland meals that make you sick to your stomach, you won't be dissapointed . If you prefer function halls to intimate settings and eating your meals in these said function rooms named after Greek Gods, then this is the place for you. Place is run by complete and total incompetent teenagers. Just left an event there less than an hour ago, I will never, ever go back. We went to the Portuguese Kids doing "A Portuguese Wedding". The service was the worst I have had anywhere. The food, OMG, so disgusting. The Soup I'll give a pass to, that was good, but the main course, ugh, stuffed chicken breast, dry and rubbery on the outside, pink and red on the inside, I mean, how to you overcook something and still have it red inside, we could have gotten food poisoning.
