You walk in to a very antiquated eating establishment. The background ambiance is only as good as the customers there because the old tv and the people are the noise. The customers and waitstaff have been there forever - this is evident. The food is served in courses- the true Italian way of breaking bread. You start with soup and bread - it has a deep chicken taste and it is thicker than normal soups. Then the Macaroni with the meat sauce. Perfectly al dente with a tasty red sauce. The meat taste of the sauce is addicting. Then you are served chicken and beef or pork. I asked for all three and that was not a problem. The chicken was moist , the beef a little under done, and the pork was perfect. This was accompanied by mashed and roasted potatoes and a salad. This whole feast for 26.99$. Not a bad deal. Not to mention they have a take out buffet in the back. The service is a little slow but worth it. If you have not tried this eatery - definitely come and be transported to the 80's and eat in a family style Italian restaurant. Not a modern restaurant but nostalgia is served. read more

We were a party of 17 that went in on a Sunday for the family style dinner. They did a great job of bringing enough food out (one course at a time) for the entire table. We started with soup and it was excellent and served with fresh Italian bread and butter. The second course was the pasta with red sauce. They do a great job with their pasta and give plenty of sauce. This was my kids favorite course. After the pasta they came out with salad and I was impressed with all of the extras thrown in with the lettuce...light amount of house dressing, black olives, green olives, tomatoes, carrot. Lastly, the main courses came out together. The beef with gravy was excellent and the chicken was roasted just right...very flavorful and fell right off the bone. The potatoes were amazing, they served both mashed and roasted potatoes. I used the gravy from the beef on the mashed and was very pleased. The best part is that they let you take home any extra food that you didn't finish. There was plenty of food and we all took a lot home. The kitchen even brought over food items from the take out menu. They were wrapped for us to bring home. In my opinion, I wouldn't bring the kids back for family style as mine didn't eat enough to get my monies worth. Adults are about $20 per person and kids 10 and under were $8.95. Growing up in Rhode Island you can say I've had my fair share of family events or other events here at Lancellota's. This here is your typical family style Italian-American food establishment. I haven't had an event here in quiet some time, however they've always been done well and we all have left satisfied. I have been coming here more often since I started consulting at one of the local hospitals and on my way back to my office or larger hospitals in Providence, I'll stop here for lunch or dinner to take home. I usually get the Veal, last night I had the pork which was very good. I love their soups, in fact if you look in my fridge you'll mostly likely find soup there. We just had our 55th High School Reunion at Lancellotta's and we could not have been more pleased. Lou the owner and his staff were more than accomodating and the service and Italian Buffet was excellant. We had our reunion in the Capri room on the upper level and it was perfect for the 70 attendees to dance to the DJ and or mingle with old friends. This is a fun, family eventful place to eat. It's a come as you are - nothing fancy - dig in type of place. It's reasonably priced and makes you want to come back for more. I'm a chicken lover - I could chicken everyday. Theirs is decent, their soup is good - my favorite is their roast beef. I can't stand roast beef - I really like theirs because it's actually cooked. I can't believe I haven't used this place after all these years in North Providence. I just did there take out and what a sweet women ( a blond woman) who helped me and my kids figure out what to get. Also while we were waiting another women who was a brunette was so kind and compliments my daughters shirt, such a family oriented place you can tell. The woman at the take out even helped me walk with all my food outside even when I said no worries. I mean, the food is surprisingly good for a place that has a cafeteria line. Good prices good portions. How about you stop treating people who didn't grow up on your street in North Providence with open contempt? I was in the business and have probably eaten at 500 restaurants in my life but I think this might be the only one the lady who served me ever stepped foot in. You walk in, there's a bunch of trays with food, there's seemingly some menu with prices but it was obviously different food than was in the trays. Walk up and all the lady and she's like "well what do you want?" and I'm like "well I see chicken parm there I guess" and she's like "yeah." So I was like ok well do you have other things? "Yeah we have like other chicken, and some other stuff." "Uhhh ok we'll I guess I'll have some chicken parm." Her, getting annoyed "we'll do you want the combo?" or something... so I'm looking around assuming I missed something.... the different menu options, combos and possibilities were posted NOWHERE. So I'm like "what's in the combo?" And she looks at me like I just walked into church and asked if it was open or cash bar. Every step of the order was like pulling teeth. I arranged for a 12 person order for a work holiday party. I placed the order a week in advance. The order was not ready when we arrived but was worth the wait. We ordered the "dinner to go" option. Huge portions and reasonable price. The order was missing the salads but the restaurant was happy to deliver the missing pieces. The order for 12 people amounted to $150 give or take. The ham was excellent, the steak as well and the pork was medallions which were well marinated. The chicken was a dry, but not terrible. I would suggest ordering it with gravy. read more

Probably one of the most best kept secrets in North Providence. I came here with my mother one afternoon for lunch. We heard through the grapevine that this place was pretty good so we decided to give it a try. We parked in the rear just as all the signs directed then meandered our way to the front entrance. Upon entry there was no staff to direct the way and a small handwritten sign that said "lunch/take-out upstairs." Now, being a newcomer I had know idea that that meant "dining area upstairs." We walked up and down the stairs a few times, worrying that we might just walk in on a party that we weren't invited to. But eventually we figured out the rather vague and confusion layout of the establishment and we were good to go. The furnishings were classic but outdated. Seemed much more suited for parties or events than dinning. However the food seemed to bring in a good crowd despite it's out of place appearance. The meal varies day by day and the waiter will usually give you a pretty good run down on how the place works. We had the standard dinner rolls, a hot-n'-savory minestrone soup, spring salad with house dressing, covered in red sauce ziti pasta, creamy whipped mashed potatoes, gravy smothered pot roast, and a crispy, juicy rotisserie chicken. All piping hot and ready to be devoured! It was delicious, and dare I say BETTER than Wright's Farm? Sounds like blasphemy, but it is pretty comparable... and I actually LIKE all their extra entrees. At Wright's Farm, I only go there for the chicken. Here, I'd come back for their chicken, soup, pasta, whipped mash potatoes... everything. The food is delicious homemade goodness. I've been to many, many events here. Anniversaries, weddings, showers etc. the food and service has always been exceptional. Attention to details, staff is friendly and efficient. Now on to the soup and sauce takeout !! First off the soup is excellent, do yourself a favor and buy the gallon. You will not regret it. For 2 days u will keep going to the fridge to heat up just a little until you realize you that just ate the entire gallon in 48 hours. Like you made it yourself but w/o all the work. They have a variety of food for takeout, chicken potatoes veggies plus other choices. Never been disappointed. My mother in law wanted to go to Lancellotta's for their all inclusive dinner, which was $24.95. I was, for one of our 7, shocked at that sticker price. For good reason. We got chicken meatball tortellini soup, which was very good. Then came a huge bowl of pasta, overcooked so it was very large and took up a lot of space, along with a measly salad that only had oil and vinegar dressing. The salad was light, fluffy greens you could hardly get a bite of on your fork, and the taste was awful. Next came the entree. Sliced pork with a mushroom gravy. The pork was extremely fatty, and I couldn't get one bite without a mouthful of fat. Disgusting. So then I tried the roast chicken. The thighs and leg portions were tender, but the chicken breasts were very dry and very overcooked/warmed, whatever. Took me three glasses of water to get down a few bites. Gave the rest to my husband. The roast potatoes were from a can and tasted like it. Overcooked, hard and terrible. Most of us left there hungry and broke. Our bill was $268.00. We paid and left, went home and gorged on dessert and coffee. After looking at prices of famous restaurants in LA and NYC, we could have gotten a gourmet meal at a cheaper price. Sorry we didn't go elsewhere. It will NEVER happen again at Lancellotta's, you can believe that! Shame on them for overcharging a meal that could have been priced at $14.95. WE HAD THE PLACE TO OURSELVES. This is great with two fidgety kids, but not if you're looking for ambience and the murmur of conversation. On weekends, this place is JAMMIN and at a dull roar. We really scored, all things considered. My husband and I ordered the baked scrod, which was a hearty portion by anyone's standard. The kids are picky and asked for grilled cheeses. At an Italian family style restaurant?! Unheard of! But the chef made them 2, yes TWO buttery, Italian bread grilled cheeses EACH with a side of fries. (They looked so good, the 2 servers ordered their own as well) My in-laws had chicken Siciliana & steak ala mama. The steak was a generous hunk of meat. It looked phenomenal. The chicken was smothered in colorful peppers and mushrooms and sauce. Accompanying these epically proportioned plates was family style soup, pasta, potatoes (mashed AND roasted) and salad. This was a royal feast to say the least! And when you've had your fill, the food does not return to the kitchen, oh no! It STAYS at the table. Taunting you. Reminding you of its tasty goodness and practically begging you to take another helping. And you do, because hey, why the heck not?! If you happen to have substantial self restraint, you get to take home any of the aforementioned food. *Leftovers* What's that? Lunch for tomorrow too?! Don't mind if I do. I'm in love with the eggplant parm and I went to get it today only to discover they didn't have it today. when he saw how devistated I was he asked the cooks to make me some and 35 minutes later I walked out happy, with delicious eggplant in hand. My wife had a special request for the soup, the chef took his time and came out to explain to my wife exactly how she would need to prepare it. Very nice guy. My Italian family has gone to Lancellotta's for many of our catering needs such as wakes, funerals and just plain family gatherings. I personally have taken friends and family to eat there on Wednesdays and Sundays for all you can eat dinner. It's so Delicious. IT'S A WONDERFUL THING FOR MOM NOT TO HAVE TO COOK ON SUNDAYS ( and not clean up, even better). The food is delicious, and the portions are humongous.. I go there very often to purchase foods to go for me. I always go in planning to buy just a couple of items, but when I get in there, I can't help my self, I have to buy some of this and that, a variety, a smorgasbord of food for me for lunch and suppers for the week. To top it all off, the prices are very reasonable. Hey Lancellotta family, staff, chef, please keep teaching your younger generation how to cook your delicious foods, so this special North End secret/restaurant will always be here.
