I went here with my sisters and my niece and while we were there we had a great experience. It wasn't until a day or two later, one of my sisters and I started getting a throbbing pain on one of our fingers. For me it's was my middle finger for my sister it was her ring finger. The pain was getting worse and worse so we went to the doc. Come to find out we both got an infection! I did get nicked with the drill and didn't think anything of it. I would never go back here. Would never recommend blatant racism and discrimination! I came here with my mom for manicures and pedicures, and from the moment we walked in, the treatment was different. They took our name and number as usual, but as we chose our colors, the nail tech stood over us watching closely. Then she told us we had to pay in full before service. When we asked why, she claimed it was "new policy." But right after, another customer said she hadn't paid ahead and neither had anyone else. The "manager" tried to cover by saying that customer was only getting a manicure, but the woman corrected her, saying she was getting both a manicure and pedicure and she told me they NEVER said she had to pay ahead a time for her service. I have tried this place multiple times various different years and unfortunately overall wouldn't recommend. There was 1 person that I liked but my most recent experience will lead me to NEVER go back nor recommend it to anyone. I got a dip powder manicure. The guy was nice but was doing everything really quickly and low and behold 3 days later they started to chip. I wasn't able to go back right away because I was out of town but I went in 9 days after I got them done and 4 nails were chipped. Mind you I had had sets that lasted 3-4 weeks no problem so I wasn't exceptionally hard on my nails where they would chip like that. When I went back, I said that I wanted them fixed or completely taken off which the girl said they would charge me regardless. After telling her I was not going to pay for something that didn't even last 3 days and after some back and forth ultimately she sent me to the man who had done them to fix. At the end of everything he had the audacity to charge me $20 to fix 4 nails. At this point in the moment I paid and left because I was furious and didn't want to sit in there any longer. I came to this salon for a peaceful day off. I requested a mani pedi with a light pink for my fingers and white for my toes. After the guy painting my nails did two coats he asked me how I liked it. I told him it's much lighter than the sample and I didn't like how see through they were. He continued painting my nails and said "well it's what you asked for. Try another color next time" I should've stopped him right there and left. Instead I bit my tongue and let him finish. He then said "sample tricked you" he knew I was unhappy with the color and didn't offer an alternative. Speaking up at nail salons is already a stressful decision let alone being told boohoo deal with when you do decide to speak up. I move over to the girl to do my toes. While she was filing them down and trimming them SHE CUTS MY TOE. I sit right up to look at the pain in which she moved to the next toe and covers the BLEEDING toe so I wouldn't see the blood. She didn't acknowledge the fact that im in pain or own up to her actions whatsoever. I sat in the chair on the verge of tears with my toe in pain. I'm terrified my toe is going to get infected from this experience and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone with a pulse. I left here feeling worse than when I came in. The first picture is what I received and the second picture is the inspo. The third picture is the pedicure I received. Before going to Venus, I heard good reviews and decided to give it a chance. I got a regular nail polish pedicure and a dip manicure. The pedicure should've been my first red flag because it was done very sloppy as you can see with the paint on the side of my big toes and none of my toes being even. For $40 and the reviews of this salon, this could have been executed way better. Moving on the manicure. I wasn't asked what nail shape I wanted. It was just assumed I wanted this wide square shape. I feel as though for $80 the execution of this manicure could have been way better. There was no shaping and my thumb nails are not the same size. My right thumb nail is visibly bigger than my left thumb nail. I also was cut on 7 out of 10 of my fingers. I spoke up about how I wanted the French tip to look because I wanted them to have a French line matching the inspo picture. First I was told "I'll fix it later", then I was told the " deep french " would cost $5 more which i would have no issue paying for even tho I've never heard of that before and I've gotten French tips a bunch of times before. I was later told "I will fix it with the gel polish after" Although the nail tech did attempt to fix the French tip line with gel polish, he gave no effort and then proceeded to say that it "looked ugly with the polish" and wiped the polish off. I feel as though my service was extremely rushed and was given minimal effort. I'm disappointed in both my manicure and pedicure, not only because this salon came recommended, I looked up the reviews and was forced to pay before even getting my manicure and pedicure but also because it is 4th of July weekend. Honestly go somewhere else. I went in for a dip manicure and I wish I didn't. Granted they have tons of colors "to pick from" but it took 3 colors of me picking before they finally had it. The women who did my nails, barely spoke English and didn't even make an attempt for small talk. No hi, how are you; nothing. Usually once they put the color on, they ask you if you like it; nope, didn't happen. In addition to not asking if I like the color, she also cut 6 of my fingers down. That's not even the best part. They took me in with janny, anny, jassy, I don't remember her name. But she did my nails in a hurry, didn't let the gel cure and by the next day they are pealing. They all have texture and bubbles. Generally, a reputable salon can render a decent mani-pedi. But really, it is service that differentiates the great from the mediocre. We came here for mani-pedi's on a whim for a girls' afternoon out. We called about 5 minutes ahead to see if they could accommodate three of us, which was not a problem on an early Sat afternoon. Ok, what struck me about this place at first glance is that the folks who work here are not all of one ethnicity - which is not a prob - afterall, I just want my nails to look pretty - but I've been to several nail salons where the technicians are speaking to each other in their native tongue as they work and you can't help but imagine what comments they might be making about their customers. Like, for me, "Dang this woman could sand concrete with her heels," or "Her hang nails would make for a pretty good bear claw." Lol. Back to the subject at hand. Venus is very clean with a huge chandelier that anchors the decor and a lay-out that is streamlined. Music is easy-listening/easy rock. The ambiance is relaxing. The reception was very welcoming - I liked how the reception introduces each customer to the technician by name. Jenna is very friendly and professional. One of my nails got messed up and she was so sweet fixing it. A week later, my nails still look great - the polish that was applied was not thinned out. I really love this place! I've been three times (I only splurge on a mani (gel)-pedi once or twice a year) and have been impressed every time. The first time, I got Irene and liked her work and conversation (because, yes, that can be a significant part of the experience!) that I booked an appointment with her for my second visit. Again, great work, great experience. For my last appointment, I needed it at a day/time when, unfortunately, Irene wasn't working, but I got Jessica and she was also great. Not as much conversation because of a language barrier, but she was friendly and communicated what needed to be said very well. The color I chose for my nails ended up being much lighter than I expected, so she put on a couple extra coats and voila! They looked great! I really am sorry that so many customers had bad experiences and that there aren't more good reviews on here because I'm sure there are lots more happy customers like me. Kristie with the Acrylic set and B with the Gel manicure. Kristie left out no detail with my sisters nails, and B was very meticulous with my Cat Eye nails. I really wanted to love this place since it's near my gym and they have a large selection of colors but it didn't work out. I opted for dip this time and it came out too thick and uneven. I like the look of natural nails and they look like fat duck feet. My review comes from about 1 1/2 months of visits. My first visit was with Thy who was great with gel and shaping! Afwul dip set. My nails are so thick, uneven and not shaped properly. I went in asking for a new set with a design. The guy was rushing the entire time and him and his buddies where taking/ joking very inappropriate topics such as duis & drinking and driving and drug cartel as for someone who has a family member who struggles with addiction I didn't find there jokes amusing at all, very unprofessional. Once the set was on he was trying to get a simple checkered design on my ring finger and couldn't accomplish the design. The whole appointment was rushed I walked out paying 65$ for a set I didn't want. I'm not one to complain but the nails are so horrific I cant drag myself not to post a review. You will get charged for something extra no matter what you do for mediocre nail services! I decided to stop getting gel because I either have to make to or three stops in to fix because the gel isn't cured right and comes off in the shower or as the nail grows out I have to file the edge off myself in between. I expressed these problems again at my appointment today. I decided to just get regionalism and not pay the additional 15$ for gel when I have to touch up in between appointments anyway. So instead of charging me an additional 15$ to put the gel on I paid 15$ to take the gel off, in the same process of drilling required to fill my acrylic anyway. I'm so sick of being over charged. I've had a few mani/pedis here with mixed results but this latest visit inspired me to write this review. I'll never go back. The woman (Jessica) who did my nails was really awful - she practically drilled through my nail when using the sander to get the dip off. She did this to two separate nails and really hurt me. After that, I asked to just have my nails filed and cleaned up with no polish. She did such a crappy job that my nails ended up lumpy, uneven and ratty. Unfortunately, my nails will need to grow out as they have been damaged by this process. Steer clear. read more

My friend didn't understand what she was being asked. (isn't callous removal part of a pedicure?) This is where it gets interesting....after that, she broke into perfectly understandable English. There was clearly a bit of trickery going on to upsell my friend. That being said it is a bit pricier than most which is fine, but today i went in for an acrylic fill and they slapped on a surprise extra 5 dollar charge to "cut down" my nails when I went to pay. Absolutely ridiculous charge to file off 0.001 cm of nail growth. Not to mention this set was extremely thick and bulky. These are my wife's nails within the span of four days.i had my nails done by a skinny Asian girl who looked like she was 15. She asked for short almond shape acrílic and it looks like she put literal play doh on my fingers. I asked for 1 gold stripe on each nail and they all look different.And it looks like she barely put any effort. Not to mention. We the only black people. there, and she had ME pay for my service before she even painted my nails. My partner and got pedicures. One basic with callous removal and one "mid" level. $95 total. Sat in the chair no longer than 20 mins. Had to request more cuticle removal and that he clip my nails straight. I was so upset that I asked the front desk to have someone else clean up my cuticles. Pedicure 101, you paint the edges of the top of the nail, you cut the nails straight, and I'm guessing it's easier to use a pumice on my feet if you look at them. I've gone a couple times and been highly satisfied. I scheduled an appointment with someone I had before, but when I arrived for my appointment a little over a week ago, they put me with someone else (I thought it was my own error - I now know they don't actually care who you made an appointment with). The person who did my nails did a terrible gel mani and gel pedi. Nails not cut straight (even after I asked them not to cut my nails, and they insisted), sharp edges, nails of varying length (my biggest issues), and terrible paint job. I had to keep telling the person that the lamp wasn't on and they kept hitting my nails while doing a different nail, having to redo... Started to chip not even a week later. I was there for 2.5 hours as the person kept asking others questions (I'm assuming to do my nails "right"), AND SOMEONE EVEN OFFERED TO TAKE OVER FOR HER. I decided to not leave a review at the time and give them the opportunity to fix the problem (because I assumed the person was new). I emailed images of my nails and what occurred, then spoke to someone who scheduled me an appointment to repair my nails (refused to give me an idea of new cost). Went back today (a week and a half after original appointment) to have my "repair" with a more experienced staff. They clearly did not have me planned with a specific staff, as I was taken on by someone who took her next customer moments later and was doing our nails side by side. Mine was absolutely rushed (other customer's not), and told me "only nails" (not toes too, that aren't cut straight - fine with me as they got cut too short by first person that I don't think they can even touch them right now). The "repair" was removing the nail polish, VERY QUICK filing, not even a glance to see length of nails, and reapply the same color. Sent on my way within 20 minutes. I wasn't charged for the "repair", but here I am with still nails of varying lengths and not straight cut nails. Wasn't even worth having them try to even out. I am so disappointed. I came to get my toes done for a work party I have in two days. Well, long story short, the pedi lasted for 20 min and she really ruined my toes. They look absolutely awful. She cut them all the way to the nub and couldn't even cut them straight. After she painted them she didn't even clean up the polish on my skin!! Well, I never thought I'd find a nail salon that looks like this one in Fall River. Venus Nails & Spa is beautiful and immaculately clean. The floors and fixtures are gorgeous and there's a giant chandelier in the middle of the ceiling that catches the sunlight in a very pretty way. I went in on a whim when my usual place was closed for the long Labor Day weekend and I'm glad I did. I got a "Spa" pedicure (which means it cost $15 more than the standard pedi) and it included a leg masque, a hot stone treatment, and an extra long massage. My nail tech was a friendly young man who did a wonderful job. While this was a nice treat I can't really afford to spend $45 on pedis regularly. I really like Venus, but the prices are better suited for Providence or Boston than Fall River. read more
