Bring cash for tip! I was traveling for work, was staying in the nearby Marriott, and in a bit of a pinch to get my nails done before vacation. I was able to call Venus and get an appointment for 45 minutes later which I felt was more than accommodating. The shop is small but adequate; I may have felt a little crowded if it was full but while I was there it was fine. Lora, my technician, did a fantastic job on my nails. She took her time to file, cut, and generally clean up my botched nails. I almost stopped her from putting on any polish because my nails looked great all cleaned up! The polish turned out smooth and clean, not gloopy or bumpy like I've had before at other places. The massage was short but with good pressure. This was one of the better experiences I've had in a while in terms of manicure quality. I didn't have any cash for tip but they allowed me to add on the tip to my total bill (not their preference but it was better than nothing). Next time I'm in DC I'll be back.

Great service and calming atmosphere. They were careful efficient and did quality work.

Gel manicure

Excellent service! Been coming here for over 10 years after finding it on Yelp. The pedicures are top of the line with their stone massages and the manicures are great. Unfortunately no dip/powder manicures, but they do have gel! If you want luxurious, but don't want to break the bank, come here.

These are the best nails and experience I've ever had. Huge thanks to Sena, she is the best! I can't stop looking at my nails.

Horrible!! Let me say it again terribly horrible. They do not do a full service mani or pedi. It started with a half ass pedicure. Followed by French polish manicure and you see in the picture that did not happen. They charge $5 per hand and foot to take off gel polish. They had nerve to tell me for my total services it would be $200again look at photo). It was just all the way around a bad experience. The gentleman whom seems to oversee the service is more than unhelpful. Never ever again!! Please go with caution!

I loved this spa. Called the day before to make an appointment and with all this covid shit going on they made me feel welcome while staying clean and safe. Super sweet people here and they accepted Venmo as tip which i love! 10/10 recommend & amazing pedicure for only $30!!

One day later, still good!

Stopped by and they were able to accommodate a walk in. Very quick and nice gel manicure. I had a sweet lady and she did a good job. Since I was just passing by and had time before my meeting, I chose the basic packages so I don't know if you can add o additional services to get pampered more but I liked my nails and thought she did a good job.

$30 spa pedicure!

$30 for spa pedicure on a Saturday in Foggy Bottom? Sign me up! They saw me right away at 10am, nobody here. Come on down D.C.! There's a line of technicians waiting for you! They kept busy with laundry and towel service, which is done on premises. Spa gets your choice of an Aroma or Jasmine powder that makes your spa glow orange or blue! Nice touch. Everyone was polite and wonderful. And found a meter spot in front of the place. Clean and lots of colors to choose from. I hadn't had my nails done in months, so this was a real treat.

The burn I received from an eyebrow wax due to them using harsh chemicals.
Diana L.

Until today, I've gone to this salon for the past four years for shellac manicures and eyebrow waxes due to their low prices and their convenient location to my office. Until this past summer, they were consistently fantastic, did a great job at both brows and nails and I recommended them to everyone. Since June, however, I have trusted them less and less, and today was the last straw. I've received two very serious burns to the skin around my eyebrows, and a couple of their technicians are careless to the point of causing painful, bleeding cuts when working on cuticles. I actively avoided going to Yuri, as she not only burned my eyebrows in three places this past summer, but also deeply cut into one of my cuticles as well. During my horrible session with her, I asked her repeatedly to cool down the eyebrow wax. She also did not ask about the shape I wanted, or any specifications, but just started waxing with overtly hot wax and left me with visible burns. When she did my nails, she didn't ask about the shape I wanted, and didn't seem to care about painfully nipping my cuticles several times. When I returned to the salon a few months later, I quietly informed the manager on duty, and neither she nor Yuri cared when I said that I was burned during my last appointment. Since then, I made sure to schedule with other technicians. Jane does a very fine job, listens, and is kind. However, I went to another technician today. While she did a fine job with my nails, she clearly didn't understand much of what I said (which I understand, but can be difficult when trying to communicate my needs as a client). Then, when she waxed my eyebrows, she used a solution to remove my eye makeup (after I asked her to not) that smelled very harsh. After removing the hair, she gasped and handed a mirror to me, and I saw the terrible burn marks. The owner of the salon, a man who's name I never learned, kept trying to make excuses and interrupting me. I finally realized that the harsh-smelling solution she used before waxing was a mix of Sea Breeze astringent. They never used that on my skin in the past, and he kept insisting that they had. I know for a fact that they had not. Why they would use such a harsh product on brows, especially prior to waxing, I have no idea, but its unsafe. I am now left with disgusting looking burns AGAIN from them and will now be going elsewhere. Its a shame, as Jane and a couple of the other older workers that I haven't seen in some time were all fantastic, but I no longer feel safe going there. If you do choose to go there, be careful, look at their products, and demand to know what they use on your skin before they burn you as well.

Gel manicure by Mika
Haley C.

In DC for a work trip and realized my nails were looking....sad. Stopped by Venus since it was close to my Airbnb, and wow! This is the most flawless gel manicure I've ever received. Mika was incredibly precise, applied the polish perfectly even, and got the shape just right for every nail. I wish I could come back here--if only I lived in DC!

Burn I got at Venus from lip wax and they did nothing about it. Worst place

Amber was very sweet and a great technician but this place is too overpriced. They aren't very transparent about the cost.

It's affordable, friendly, and you leave with a good quality mani/pedi. It's nothing special but a good nail salon selection in the area.

A good, quality nail salon. No bells and whistles, but $15 manicures and $30 pedicures. A good option in the city. (Only cash tips!)

I am in DC temporarily for cancer treatment so I wanted to find a place to get my lashes done…read morebecause it's the one (vain) thing that makes me feel better right now. This place got good reviews so I booked an appointment at the Eastern Market location since it's near the place I'm staying. The night prior, they called and asked if I'd be willing to go to the Dupont Circle location instead so that the technician could fit in more appointments. It was annoying, but not a huge deal. I was getting lash removal & a new set of classic/hybrid lashes. I've been getting eyelash extensions for 13 years and this is by far the worst experience I've ever had. They were thin, whispy, pre-made fans that were poorly glued onto only some of my lashes. They started falling off almost immediately, and there were visible white clumps of glue that a friend pointed out because she thought I had crumbs on my eyes. One week later when I went to another eyelash studio, they couldn't even tell I had any extensions on until they put me under the lights. I would've been better off just curling my own lashes & using mascara because mine are thicker & longer than whatever they used. I've never had such poor quality.

this place is very dependent on the threader(is that what they are called?) i like this location…read morebecause of its proximity and plenty of free parking nearby, some of the threaders(yeah im just gonna keep using that term) are good, but some are exquisitely bad. the one today was in the latter category. i have full, thick brows and they look good even when they are NOT threaded(hey i tried to be humble, but ...it...didnt..work..). on occasion, i will get them threaded for a more refined look. the threader today did not do that. one of my brows got hair removed excessively and looked uneven by comparison and there were no sharp lines. i did point this out to the threader(who willl remain nameless) who insisted everything was good. she also applied lotion to my brows without asking me first, which is made my face all itchy and i washed it off immediately. i usually get an astringent like witch hazel, which P.E. has too but the threader usually will ask me first what I want. gee, gosh damn , is that so hard? anyway, once a threader messes up, i do NOT want them to fix it, bc that usually makes it worse...way worse. so i will have to get creative with my pencil and mascara brush. and honestly, im very irritated. im putting my pic from today and one from another salon where i got my brows done before.picture is worth a thousand brows after all. btw, i PREFER the P.E. in tysons corner mall, i have NEVER had any issues there.

I use to get them done every 8 weeks, but now that my lashes are longer I noticed they can last up to 10-12 weeks. I also noticed my lashes got so much longer after I was doing these lifts for a year. Semra is amazing. She's always gentle with my lashes and takes amazing care to make sure they look good. I always leave satisfied with my lashes. My eyes are usually very sensitive as well. When I use to get regular lash lifts, my eyes would get irritated. But with the yumi lash lifts, my eyes aren't irritated. I think the chemicals are more gentle than regular lash lifts. Also I love the natural look of these lashes. They're so curly and long and just naturally pretty. I also got my brows done twice here. I usually don't get my brows done because I don't really care about my brows as much as I do my lashes lol, but Semra made my brows look really nice as well. I was impressed by how different I look with them shaped better. I will think about doing my brows more often here

I visited Semra's studio twice and she gave me a severe allergic reaction (Google PPD allergic reaction and HD Brows and BrowSculpt) that left me with severe hives on my face and extreme swelling of the eyes/ face for which I had to see three doctors and had to use six separate medications. It took me over a month to fully recover (I visited her salon Sept. 17, and am only now fully recovered as of late Oct.). After I told her about it, the only apology she gave me was "sorry to hear about it :(" I asked her for a refund and she refused, not even refunding me the tip or the cost of the service that caused the allergic reaction. On top of that, when I sent her the pictures, her reaction most generously could be understood as ignorance about a very common allergy that occurs due to the chemicals she uses in the line of work she's been in for ~30 years and at worst as accusing me of lying. She refused to take any accountability even when her actions seriously harmed a customer. I'll let you draw whatever conclusions you believe appropriate from my experience.
