We just came back from Vera's it was extremely disappointing. There were four of us Order #1 was for a burger with jalapenos and yam fries Order # 2 was for a burger with a lettuce wrap instead of a burger bun Order # 3 was for a Cajun chicken burger Order #4 was for a Cajun chicken burger with poutine Order #1 came without Jalapenos and with regular french fries , which were cold, we sent it back and it took 30 minutes to get what was originally ordered when it finally came the Yam fries were cold and inedible Order # 2 came with cold french fries, which were not ordered, the burger was in a regular bun instead of a lettuce wrap, it was sent back and took about 30 minutes to get the correct order. Order #3 came and the chicken was overcooked to the point where the edges were hard and inedible, didn't bother sending it back, ate only about 1/2 of it Order #4 the burger was overcooked and the poutine was cold, didn't bother eating or sending it back as it was now 1 1/2 hours since we arrived. There were only two people on staff and they were very apologetic for the lack of service and said they were swamped with online orders. I do not blame them. In conclusion, I think that Uber eats and the like were mostly to blame because they demand a very tight timeline for restaurants to get the order ready and if a restaurant is short staffed as it was here tonight then the customers at tables are the ones that are left waiting while staff prioritize the online orders. The owner of this restaurant needs to have more staff to be able to accommodate it's customers read more

I do like the food here, and sometimes you just need a good burger, which Vera's doesn't disappoint. The food is all made fresh, with raw not frozen beef thrown on the grill for a tasty carnivore experience. Gotta go with the G-Money as my fave burger here, and the service is generally good. So the restaurant has been on The Drive for years and could benefit from a deep clean company or Reno as the place is beginning to show its age. Now, I'll still go here to eat, but somehow they could get a bit better at keeping it clean. Just felt like there was a film of grease in some places. read more

I love their burgers. The quality of the meat is excellent. They've also got a wide variety of toppings, with decent amount of free ones. The toppings that you pay for aren't that expensive considering the quality. I even like the bun! Now, why they lose 2 stars; their sides are horrific. I'd say they are the WORST fries and onion rings I've ever had; even worse they're always overcooked. After a rocky change of management a few years back, this Vera's has settled down to being a much appreciated neighbourhood hang out, even during Covid. Young and youngish staff comes and goes, but always pleasant. Burgers are still as good as ever, but the buns are shrinking. Fries are sometimes served burnt. When getting takeout, I'd advise sitting at the bar, watching your order being prepared, because often there are errors or items left out of the bag. Italian day, we decided to eat at veras because we didn't wanna be wait in line for some over priced greek plate. Line up was great moved at a reasonable pace. We sit down waiting for the burgers that we specified that we didn't want sauce and tomato on mine and no cheese on my mothers. We get our burgers. Mine has a tomato and sauce and my cheese i wanted while my mom has no tomato and no cheese with the usual toppings we try switching but it made no difference so we sent our burgers back, then when we get them again i wanted just a little ketchup on it so i open the burger up and i see they used the same patty that they gave us the first time. I know this because my we cut our burger in half to make sure we're not eating a raw burger (its happened before) by this point we're both disappointed and kinda grossed out.. the burger we bit into went back onto the grill that everyone else is getting their food on top of that the bun was chewy and distasteful. We ate it anyways because we were trying to save our appetite for Italian day but line ups and the heat wasn't really for us. We always talk about this location of Vera's. It was perhaps the worst burger in my life that I had to pay for. Thank my lucky stars we had a Groupon or I would have been upset. It was one of those experiences from the moment we stepped in to order that everything went wrong. Confused about the Groupon, wrong drinks coming out, server seemed rattled and rushed (only one other group) and short changed us by accident. We never get excited or upset when these things happen as it's only food. Instead we go into the mode of sitting back and watching the shit-show unfold before us. We knew this was turning out to be a memorable experience for all the wrong reasons. And for my family, eating out is also about creating memories. As expected the burgers were brutal. Bun was powder dry, patties had absolutely no care put into them, fixings were way out of proportion. My burger had a side salad on it and my daughters had McDonalds sized fixings. From a food point of view, I was somewhat sad that we wasted a burger experience on this. Thoughts crossed my mind about food safe issues. If this place is so clueless about getting a simple burger to the plate, what else is up? Luckily we all made it through the night with no issues. Moved to Vancouver almost a decade ago, and one of the first restaurants I ever tried was Vera's. Recommended by girlfriend at the time, I really liked it! Excellent burgers with inventive toppings. I had a bad experience at a different location, and stopped going for a while. I hadn't been to Vera's in a while, but was busy and saw they delivered (via Skip The Dishes) so I ordered the BBQ burger with Jalapeno Bottlecaps extra (mmm) and Onion Rings and a drink. All in all it wasn't bad. They really got the toppings right where it doesn't overwhelm the burger but it's also not all just beef. Onion Rings were a bit bland. Wouldn't mind a bit more spice and flavour to them. A&W has everyone else beat in terms of onion rings. I'll probably get fries next time. read more

I took my wife here after having the best turkey burger in my life at vera's main St location and raving to her for the past month on how good they were. We ordered a couple turkey burgers and they were made with previously frozen, thin patties from Gordon's food service (info from cook there) and not fresh ground chuck home made, thick juicy patties like at the main St location, but yet priced the same! Back in the day they had a special menu item called "Dave's open face chili burger" and i lament that this has been retired. The burger i had from this location was a little bit more charred and overcooked than i remember, but still a good quality burger overall. I probably eat here once or twice a week. Best burger joint on the drive. They've got one of those touch screen pop machines so you can get crazy flavours like vanilla root beer and peach Fanta. So good. The burgers are really tasty. My favourite is the stinger. Jalapeño bottle caps on a burger? Yes please! They do all kinds of food here, not just burgers. Tacos, burritos, chicken strips, poutine. The milk shakes are awesome too. I never get bored of the menu. The staff are some of the nicest people I've ever encountered at a little burger place like this. And honestly this is one of the biggest reasons why I love this place. I wish more burger joints offered havarti on their burgers as a substitute for the usual American/cheddar/mozza trifecta. Honestly, I'd eat havarti on everything if I could. Stuff's the bomb. I got a BBQ burger but omitted the onions, BBQ sauce, relish, and mustard. I'm very basic when it comes to my burger preferences. The burger comes with fries. I also got a side of gravy. The burger was pretty good. Not the best I've had, but definitely not the worst. I'm a little sensitive to more standard cheeses, enough so that, when coupled with a greasy burger, they can make me fairly sick. The havarti contrasted well and the bacon was perfectly crispy. No post-eating nausea. There were small bits of the patty that were slightly red but nothing to worry about. The fries were average at best. If the burger didn't come with them automatically, I would not order them myself. The gravy was great and made the fries palatable but I could have done without them if I'm being honest. I'm really not sure if the burger was worth the price if you're considering this from a "I'll keep going here" perspective. I can get a thicker burger with better fries locally for six dollars less (albeit not with havarti cheese). That being said, I did not feel ripped off and the burger WAS good. read more

I only had the tacos, they were unfortunately very bland, I mostly tasted the soft taco shells which definitely weren't fresh. Also, I didn't notice a sauce on the tacos, but they were served with a fresh chopped tomato topping instead. The staff did ask me if I wanted mild, medium or hot tacos, so I opted for medium. They didn't provide sauces for customers to add to their tacos. Tacos were $2.75 each, but next time for a similar price I'll go to different restaurant where the taco shells are fresh, and the taco itself is tasty. I should have ordered a burger, they look good. Every time there's been a problem but this last time it was so unbelievably bad I have to leave a review. 2 orders of poutine one veggie gravy one normal. This was my first time eating at a Vera's and I was very happy with the food, staff and restaurant (Vera's on the Drive). The owner (Clive) was so helpful in planning our dinner. It was my son's birthday and planned to bring 8 of his buddies there; they did a great job hosting all the boys and our family! The boys had so much fun and they loved the food...and they seemed to be so entertained with the drink machine. The service the staff provided was fantastic and everything was very organized and ready for us when we arrived. We don't live close by this location but if we are ever in the neighborhood again, we will definitely come by! read more

I really appreciate what Clive and his team have brought to the Drive. I am a regular burger and fries guy and the food is always consistent and really good and the place is clean and taken care of. It is a huge, really huge, improvement since he has taken over. Above and beyond the basics though are the people. Clive cares about what he is doing and it shows. His team are genuinely having fun, they take time to talk to you and to learn your name and share some time with you as they can. I simply love this Veras. Ever since the the new Owner took over and fixed up the place I've never had an issue here that wasn't taken care if at the time. They have a good mix of Employees, some from Canada and others from overseas like Europe and Australia. The Burgers (chicken or beef) are always to my liking esp the beef cooked a bit pink. My personal fav's are the Four Cheese with bacon and the BBQ (Wednesday special) I always get fried onions too. There daily $13.50 special is a sound deal for a big burger. They have great beer specials too. Sometimes it's better not to order the combo if your having beer as it puts it up to $17.50 with fries. I just order the burger and a mini V to go and have the beer specials it seems cheaper. There App gives you free food quick, just load it first, you can even add tip. If you tell the staff that you are having some drinks before eating they will run a tab for you, it's better than paying each time. It takes 10 minutes for a burger order.
