When my girl does her happy dance while eating, I know she wants to give the place a 5-star rating. However, I have never seen her do her happy dance AND not say a damn word while eating like she did at Vera's! This is some next level ish! I don't think we said a single word to each other until our plates were cleaned our first time here. Something about the meat at Vera's puts you in a state of bliss. The tacos come with double tortillas that are both soft and crisp, chopped onions, and cilantro. Her favourite was the pastor, while the suadero melted me like I was the Wicked Witch of the West! And the sauces....MMM! You cannot go wrong with the spicy avocado sauce, though each sauce is good in its own way! Although the carnitas taco was jam-packed, the flavour was pretty standard. Grab a pollo or asada taco, throw some green and orange hot sauce on it, and you'll smile internally with each bite. I know a lot of people love cabeza, but it was just too greasy for me. Other menu items I've tried include the mulita, tortas, burrito, and sope. I'm not a cheese guy, and I even liked the mulita! The hot sauces are necessary here because of the thickness of the cheese, though. The best option I've found for the torta was carnitas. The bun was buttered and grilled, there was avocado in the filling, and it was only $6! The burrito was unremarkable. However, it was deceptively filling for its size! Conversely, the sope wasn't very filling, but it was certainly tasty! It came with a crisp, thick tortilla and was topped with refried beans and fresh cheese. Tacos de papa are a great option for my vegetarians out there. The shells were fried and crisp, the potatoes were soft, and the toppings were fresh! Three tacos are $4.15, four tacos are $5.51, a torta is $6, and a mulita is $5.51 after taxes. I love a good deal! The parking lot is small, and you do have to drive through a couple of crowded (with parked cars) residential streets when you leave because the parking lot is one way. You're better off finding street parking on Delta or Wardlow. read more

I went to try the Asada fries during lunchtime, and the first thing that I saw was that they are a large portion. The price is great overall for the food portions. However, after eating the Asada fries, my stomach started to hurt. Have pretty much tried most of the menu by now, but I have to say the potato tacos are amazing - and that's really never been my thing. Salsas are all really good, and the price is even better. They are in the same parking lot as vera's market which has alot of good items and a meat market in the back. The last time here i had the asada fries which were good. Parking can be tight. What I love about this place is that they put a good amount of meat in each taco, torta, sope, mulita, nachos, just everything. They also have a variety of sauces you can enjoy with your food, from tasty to spicy. The aguas frescas there are super fresh and delicious, you're not going to want to share. The workers there are really nice and welcoming, you can that they're hardworking people. They do get pretty busy on the weekends, sometimes even during the week day, but I like that they also take orders over the phone and it's easy to go and pick up when it is ready. Recently moved to Long Beach from Los Angeles and tried several tacos spot in LBC, some were good but not satisfying. Then I came across this spot! Delicious chicken tacos and burritos. They also have these potatoes tacos tht I was skeptical on but booiii am I glad I gave those a try, those tacos were fire as well. Vera's was great! I tried many types of tacos and they were all great! Really balanced portions for the price. I had the papas, lengua, buche, suadero, and cabeza. Lengua was fantastic, cooked well, soft and flavorful. Not a tough bite. Then I also loved the cabeza which was full of flavor and tender. Definitely coming back for those two. Then the buche and suadero were on the crispier side, but still completely enjoyable and easy to eat. Papas were really good too. One order comes with 4 pieces, but they go down easily.
