BEWARE! These people are scammers. Went in for a new phone, and told Dane I needed to get the cheapest one available - so from the get-go, they were aware that I was a budget shopper. Dane told me my plan qualified me for a free device (the Hum) that attaches to your car. He said nothing about the fact that I would be signed up for a new phone line for this device. I found out later that day when the owner of my family plan called me to ask if I had added a new line. Additionally, while I was purchasing my new phone, Dane told me it "came with" a case and screen protector. He showed me only one brand option (in two colors) for my case, which I figured made sense because it was free (I thought), so maybe the deal only applied to this one brand. He painted a new type of screen protector onto the phone, explaining what it was while he did it, but at no time mentioning how much it cost... Again, I was led to believe it was free. He almost sent me out the door without a receipt, and when I asked for one, instead of handing me a paper receipt like they do at actual Verizon stores, he emailed it to me. I'm sure they do this on purpose so that you don't realize until later that you've been scammed. When I checked my receipt later that day, I saw that I had been charged $40 for the case and $50 for the screen protector! I would never spend this much on a case or a screen protector! While I was able to return the phone case and Hum, and have the extra phone line removed, I spent way too much time going back and forth to the store to do these things. I have not been able to return the screen protector because it was painted on, and I have tried several times over the past few weeks to contact the store manager Brandon to see if they will refund me due to the fact that I was lied to, but he is never in when I call and the two messages I left him have never been responded to. Do Not Buy anything from Cellular Sales. They have Unscrupulous Business Practices. They do not follow Verizon Return Policy of being able to return a phone in 14 days. Cellular Sales says a day is only as long as their store is open, not the 24 hours that Verizon and everyone else consider as a Day. Cellular Sales really has a 13 day return policy not a 14 day return policy as is stated on the receipts. Their General Man ager for Ennis TX, does not return calls, and the other sales Representatives just repeat the same script. Worst customer service. Went in to get a new SIM card. Empty store. Employee sitting in the front seat wouldn't take out earbuds to help us because he was watching football on his phone. He said I should get a SIM card online then went back to his phone. I asked a follow up question and he didn't respond because he was watching his phone. When I asked if he heard me and how I order a SIM card online, he said "I don't really use that app." When I said "I know you're busy, thank you, you've been very helpful" he just laughed in my face. read more

A staff member here had my phone for nearly 3 weeks. He was supposed to send it in for a trade in deal. It was presented to me that I needed to leave the phone there for the deal, turns out, I could've just taken it home and filled out a short form online and they send you a box to return it. No one ever told me that. Fast forward almost 2 weeks and the employee wanted my login info to my account to finish processing the trade in and that's when I figured out I never had to leave it. He didn't keep my phone secure at the store, in fact when I went in to get it he wasn't there and had it on him at another store. All of my info could've been stolen. The employees there shrugged it off and I asked to have a manager call me regarding all of this, I wouldn't be surprised if the employee lied saying he emailed management, because I never heard from anyone. I recommend NOT going to this store location and NOT using Cellular Sales. Because Cellular Sales is not a direct Verizon store (third-party contractor), the company cannot effectively handle contract disputes nor potential compensation with Verizon (and from my experience, unwilling to provide compensation themselves). I discovered they charge more than the direct Verizon store and their sales staff do not understand nor provide clear communication on Verizon contracts. I came into the store last month looking to upgrade my phone. Josh Morse is the sales person whom I worked with and whom I asked multiple times to confirm that the contract I was signing was for the new phone only, and not a change to my existing contract. Although I signed a 2-year agreement - and through verbal confirmation from Josh - I believed this was the agreement for the phone upgrade (standard for phone upgrades). However, when I talked directly with Verizon a few weeks later because an increase in my monthly bills - I was told that by moving to a 2-year agreement I had been taken off my existing Edge Program and it will now cost me an additional $600+taxes/fees for the next two years. At no point had I been told by Josh that I would be taken off my existing contract. This is even after I asked and confirmed multiple times that there would be no change to my contract and the existing fees that I paid. In fact, I was reassured that I wouldn't have any change except the upgrade (the $30 phone upgrade + discounted phone price). Either he was did not understand Verizon offerings or was purposefully misleading. When I tried to discuss my incident with customer service it boiled down to a "he said / she said" and even though I had someone with me as a witness and it doesn't make sense that I would get off my contract and pay $600 more, I was still at fault. 3. Follow up directly with Verizon before your 14-day window expires that the agreement discussed in the store is actually what gets submitted to Verizon. This is a third party contractor so you cannot be 100% sure what is discussed gets passed on to Verizon. This is my first yelp review because I have never felt the need to post a review until this happened. I am also logging a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. As one customer to another, I suggest that you: 1) know you have other options (there are direct Verizon stores on Research Blvd and Brodie Ln - the service may not be great based on the Yelp reviews but at least you're dealing directly with Verizon) or 2) assume you cannot trust this store to handle your contract appropriately and therefore make sure you document all conversations and follow up on all communications with Verizon before the 14-day window expires. Terrible service with hidden fees. Eric flat out lied to me about prices and services. He pretended that the store was the same as Verizon, I asked about online pricing and different plans and he claimed that the prices online were actually different than represented. When it was time to review my payment all the computers froze and he just took my credit card and ran it so I could not see the breakdown of the fees. Just left the Verizon store on S. Lamar--great experience! Javier hooked me up with a new phone (left mine old one in a Lyft last night &, surprise, driver said it is not in car). I was in and out and using my new phone in less than hour--that is record time in my experience! I walked in ready to buy a phone and contract. The sales person was okay but not particularly knowledgeable. I noticed he had something in his cheek but didn't think much about it until he started spitting into a cup. He continued his spitting (presumably this was chewing tobacco) the entire time we were talking. I couldn't take it so I thanked him and left. My skin was crawling. I have never written a review on anything in my life. However my experience tonight was so terrible I had to share it to hopefully help others avoid the same frustration. I walked into The store 15 minutes before they closed to find only the last two employees prepping to go home. I had been in last month after my contract ended to discuss phones and the edge plan. It was explained clearly to me I could purchase an iPhone using the edge plan and still not be under contract, I would not even have to activate the phone. As I knew exactly what I wanted, the iPhone 6 Plus 64 or 128 GB, I didn't think it would take long to buy one and take it home. I came to find one of the employees was the manager, Johnson, and he was clearly more interested in going home than helping me with my phone needs . He was passive aggressive, rude, arrogant and disinterested, to the point where at exactly 9 o'clock he was on a personal phone call right in front of me while the other young man was trying his best to help, but was having difficulty with the iPad he was using and asked for help twice from Johnson who could not be bothered during his personal phone call . Long story short the manager split and we were left to our own devices - at the end of the purchase he was continuing to have difficulty and called his manager on the phone for help at which point he was told that the iPhone had to be activated in the store while I was there. This is of course not accurate information , as I have confirmed just now with Verizon by telephone that phones can be purchased and not activated for example using them as gifts. Needless to say I was pretty frustrated with the situation after having wasted half an hour of my time at the end of the day when it should've been a completely routine transaction. How someone like that could ever be a customer service manager is truly beyond me. I am a native Austinite and we are notoriously laid-back and relaxed - this experience ran counter to that on every level and I hope someone at Verizon takes note of this and retrains this leader to be at the very least knowledgeable and competent in his job. Went in as an AT&T customer looking to get a MyFi hot spot. When I walked in I was not greeted for about 10 min. Some other people that were already there milling about not being helped got fed up a few minutes after I arrived and left. Guy I spoke with was pretty helpful, not terribly polished though. Ended up signing a contract for the hotspot, got the device free with 2 year contract and the service I picked was a better deal than AT&T offers. Was feeling pretty good till I was shown what would be on the first bill when I was about to leave. I hadn't been told until that point that there would be an activation fee on the first bill. That was pretty annoying, however, for a cell phone company I am surprised they pointed it out at all. I would have expected to be blindsided at home when I saw the first bill. Who knows, maybe I still will be. I was pleased not to have to wait as long as I am used to, but I think that was more of a coincidence than anything else. I just switched over from Sprint due to my boyfriend and I combining plans. The sales rep we dealt with seemed helpful enough until I asked him about an upfront cost that seemed a little too steep. His original conversation with me was that the cost would be $140 for upfront taxes of a new phone, some start up fees and I would get a free tempered glass screen protector. Right before I was about to pay I asked him to break down the cost by line item and before going in explanation, he acted like he was doing me a favor by brining down the price by $40- which coincidently happens to be the price of a tempered glass screen protector. I learned as I walked out that he was trying to upsell me by lying to me about the "free" screen by throwing it in without telling me. I'm just now becoming a customer of Verizon so this is not a knock against their phone services since I cannot speak to them, I would just be careful when it comes to taking guidance on what to buy from this location in particular. read more

He told me I couldn't switch to it because it wasn't on my account-so he lied. He then charged me for an upgrade although it was free. I had saved a conversation I had telling me that I absolutely could switch to Edge and there's no reason I couldn't. Went back 4 days later and was greeted with rudeness again. Cellular Sales is not a Verizon Store. When you call Cellular Sales they say "Trusted Partner hired by Verizon located in Knoxville, TN". Always go with your gut. Called Verizon Corporate Office and they knew nothing about the NYS Fair selling Verizon devices and "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is". I purchased two HUM devices at the New York State Fair by Cellular Sales. I kept saying no, but of course they are trained well and/or are just a natural at lying and purposely leaving out important information. Bottom line I paid $30.00 cash for two HUM Devices $15.00 each and would only be charged $15.00 monthly each with fees. Total of $30.00 plus fees. I currently was paying $10.00 a month each for two tablets (I use the tablets for my business) and he told me to cancel the service on the tablets because there paid for and the HUM acts as a hot spot and you won't need the service because I own them. The new technology that comes out is over my head and I really rely on the sales associate to help with my needs, give me the best deal with all the different things I need on my Verizon Business Account and most of all be honest. Now he says it will take a few billing cycles for the HUM to be on the account that he activated and waived the activation fee. This deal was never going to be offered again only at the NYS Fair a $200.00 device for $15.00 if I purchased that day and signed up that day. In a couple of weeks call and cancel the tables and the cost would really only be $5.00 more each device with fees. $15.00 for the HUM cancel the $10.00 tablet and I'm only paying $5.00 more for the device. So my bill would be and extra $10.00 plus fees a month. I always pay my bill on time and the first month I paid it in full with both Tablet that I had not called to cancel yet and the HUM was on there and I did not look to closely at the charges but I figured give it another billing cycle like he said and the what I thought was the activation fee charged that was waived was being charged. I call to cancel the tablets and the guy at Verizon says no don't cancel you need the service the HUM is not a hot spot. He gave me a promotion for a year and is only charging me $5.00 a month per tablet monthly. OK as for the HUM that activation fee is really a $5.00 a month per device EQUIPMENT CHARGE WHEN ALL DONE I WILL HAVE PAID $135.00 X 2 EACH DEVICE. Put in a complaint send the only info I have that by the way got shoved in the bag no receipt and no agreement. They actually emailed those when I filed the complaint because of course the signature saying we agree to pay the charge but it was never ever mentioned. I WOULD HAVE NEVER EVER BOUGHT THE DEVICES IF THAT WAS THE COST. I CALLED THE GUY WHO SOLD THEM BECAUSE HE PUT HIS NUMBER ON THE ONLY DOCUMENT WE GOT AND THE NUMBER WORKS IF HE ANSWERS. TWO MESSAGES NO REPLY. He knows what he did but my lack of knowledge on the device, being caught up in all the action of people around you at the fair, bumping into you and him talking fast I'm stuck with two devices that I have not even set up to use, they won't take back or just cancel the equipment charge and what I paid for two months call it all good. THEY TELL YOU ON THE NEWS NEVER TO BUY EQUIPMENT FOR YOUR PHONES AT ANY OTHER LOCATION ONLY YOUR CORPORATE STORE LOCATIONS BECAUSE THEY ARE NEVER AS GOOD AND IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT IS. I'll start by rating my initial customer service rep - Andrew - as a 5 star employee and only wish I could have delt with him more as the three times since i've tried getting help he wasn't there/scheduled off/quit (i hope - he's better than the rest of them). I went in to buy a new cell and though at first I thought this was a corperate Verizon store I later found out it was a retailer - which can be a saving grace or worst nightmare. It was latter of the two... I haven't bought a cell phone / upgraded in over 8 years; i've always bought second-hand phones from stores, pawn shops, etc... So this time I decided after many many weeks of research to leave T-Mobile and purchase the HTC M8 with a 2 year agreement. Andrew was incredibly helpful and though he was still new and fresh as an employee he did everything he could to make my experience a good one. After my purchase he realized he needed other paperwork signed and even met me at my job so I wouldn't have to go out of my way. Thats excellet c.s. Then I needed help. I didn't know exactly what to send in for my rebate ($100 visa reward card) so I went into the S. Lamar store looking for help. 3 employees, 1 was busy, and two were sititng at their desk. They didn't acknowledge me or get out of their seat. I walked up to one girl (tall, blonde) and asked if she would verify what I have in the envelope is correct. I was blown away by her lack of customer service. She asked "did they put this together for you?" and I said "yes" and she said "well then that's it..." (without even verifying). I said , ok well I called to another store to double check and she said I needed a copy of the sales receipt and the girl said no you don't. I said wel I'm just concerned I don't want to miss out on $100 in a happy/joking manner. She huffed and puffed took the envelope from my hand, went to the back page and said "yep, that's all... no receipt needed..." I said okay. That's fine, but then asked her about the sales receipt i DID have which was not mine and was hoping to get a copy of my original. She said "well this looks like it's for a Samsung Galaxy 4 case and charger" (which are not mine). I said yes, but I came in for an HTC M8 and that's all. She looked at me like what does she want me to do? (I want MY sales receipt copy). I said you know what nevermind, you're incredibly unhelpful and very rude. I walked out. I'd expect someone to say sir i'm sorry let me help you, or fix the situation. No, nothing. A couple of weeks passed and I called in to ask about price guarantees. Naturally a few weeks after I spent $325 on a cell phone (no case, nothing, and WITH $50 off), there were promotions/sales. I was hoping they would offer me something, a screen protecter...a microfiber cloth. A bumper sticker. No, nothing. I asked the guy if he would help me find out my sale date and i literally heard him take a deep breath out of furstration. I might point out Im a floor manager and trainer at a local satellite company and we work 100% commissions in sales. But my agents understand that with 100% commissions you better outperform regular customer service agents because they wont buy from you, otherwise. He said "nope, that was more than 6 weeks ago.." and left it at that. I said thank you for your time, I appreciate it and he hung up. "No you're welcome..." My frustration for this local store has diminished long ago, but the bad taste it left has only augmented every time I think about going in for some help. To have three seperate negative experiences has caused me to leave a review with i loathe taking time from my day to do. Unless the other stores on Lamar / Anderson are better, I give the company Cellular Sales negative word-of-mouth to everyone I speak to looking for Verizon customer service or a new cell phone. You're better off going to Brodie to the corperate store. I've had it with this one. In this business, word-of-mouth is everything. I went in to see about transferring my phone from Att to Verizon. I was greeted at the door by a friendly gentleman named Cj I believe. He took his time to discuss cell plans with me and how much data, minutes, and text messages I use on a monthly basis. He then went through a few questions on what I used my phone for. He was very thorough in helping me find the best phone for me. I went with the LG G2. He then proceeded to activate my phone. I wanted to keep my number but I didn't gave my account number handy for the transfer. Instead of setting me up with a temporary number he called AT&T and ported my number to Verizon. Within 15 minutes I was a verizon customer! He then helped me find all the accessories I needed for my phone and gave me a bundle discount and a free tablet! I ended up spending only $173 after trading in my phone. This was a lot better than my trip to the corporate store where I felt rushed and obligated to buy now by the pushy clerks. I ended up with a crap phone and I paid $50 bucks for accessories I didn't need because the sales person said the only way to get a phone for free was to buy the accessories. After checking with Verizon I found out she was totally full of it. These people are lower than used car sales people. As you may know, this is not a Verizon store. An authorized retailer is totally different than an official Verizon store, which I unfortunately found out the hard way. I have been going to this store for 3 years and I have been extremely disappointed in the service every time. They spend all their energy on getting new customers to sign up and buy phones, and very little time and energy on Verizon customers who are having issues with their phones. My first experience was in 2012 when my iphone 4 died. It just turned off one day and never turned on again. The staff person at this store, EDGAR, said they couldn't help me retrieve my information or really do anything except sell me a new phone and start from scratch, I spent about 3 hours at the Apple store, they tried everything to extract my information but nothing worked- the phone was just dead. So I had to go back to Verizon to get a replacement phone. It has now been 2 days without a phone and I was livid. There were a lot of setbacks on my way to getting the replacement phone- getting someone to help me at this store was difficult, and they kept saying that they didn't know what to do or had limited knowledge of getting information off my phone onto the new iphone. Then the phone that they replaced mine with finally was also damaged, they tried to replace mine with a refurbished phone that had a crack in the screen. Long story short, I finally got a new phone but after about 8 hours at this store over 3 days. It was such a hassle that the person helping me told me that to avoid that whole hassle next time, I should just purchase insurance for the phone (Manufacturers warranty lasts only a year, after that you have to pay full price to replace your phone if it breaks. So they try to sell you insurance for that in- between time, the year after the manufacturer's warranty expires but before you are up for your new phone in the "new every two" program. The insurance sounded like a good choice because he convinced me it would make everything easier the next time something went wrong with my phone. He said that the insurance would be just $10 a month and they would replace my phone if this happened again. I added the $10 a month to my already high bill because of what he told me. Fast forward to last week (March 2015). I have an IPhone 5 that stopped working well. It still turned on and worked, but the battery died way too soon and it was getting really slow and turning off on its own at random times. I called this store again to enact that insurance plan they sold me and it turns out that they had sold me LIES. In addition to the $10 a month I would have to pay a $199 deductible for my phone replacement. $10 a month for over 2 years plus $199?!?!? That's the price of just buying a new phone at full retail! ($600). And even worse, they said that the insurance doesn't even cover the phone unless it is lost, stolen, or damaged. They said that the battery issue is a manufacture problem, so I should use the manufacturer's warranty. The man who told me this is the manager of this Verizon store and he is AWFUL. He told me that he didn't really care about helping me since he was with hew customers (AKA he is only interested in signing up new people to get new money, not helping people who already paid). He said he didn't care if I canceled my Verizon count even though I've had Verizon for 14 years and have given them over $10,000 over the years for their phone service. What I learned from the actual official Verizon Store in Sunset Valley is that the authorized retailers purposely sell you a non-Verizon insurance called TechProtect. That insurance plan is awful- $10 a month, $199 deductible and you can only use it to replace a lost, stolen, or damaged phone! What I really needed was the Verizon insurance plan, which is also $10 a month but there is no deductible. So I canceled Tech Protect (after many hours on the phone talking to different people at Verizon and Techprotect who all had conflicting answers) and I signed up for the Verizon insurance, then 2 days later I made my claim and they sent me a replacement phone. There are more frustrating details but that's the general information I want to share- do NOT go to this store if you have a problem with your Verizon phone- only if you want to purchase something or get a new phone because they provide horrible service. I actually wouldn't trust any Verizon "authorized retailer" because they are just salesmen and they are not really connected to Verizon- they provide misinformation. I am truly disappointed and outraged by this store's lack or responsibility and respect for their loyal Verizon customers. read more

I literally just stepped foot out of Verizon Wireless and had the worst service ever! There was only one sales person who could assist, so I had to wait an hour before I was served. The verizon employee wasn't even speaking to the customers about phone services, but other unrelated, outside of work conversation. Once served, I explained that my phone was stolen and asked the representative named Michael what were my options. He said that I only had one option, which amounted to over $250. Once I left, I got on the phone with Verizon so they could switch off my stolen phone and the representative on the phone said that I had actually 3 other options which were significantly less expensive. She explained that the reps in the stores work commission based, so they are NOT going to be helpful-basically they don't care. She gave me a new phone, shipped it next day-FOR FREE, and all for only $60. I will never go into this Verizon store every again and just deal with the carrier directly. read more

Horrible, completely heinous/unhelpful customer service. So thankful that Verizon customer service came thru, fixed my issues, and renewed my faith in the company. This is an "authorized wireless retailer" be smarter than I was- listen to the overwhelming bad reviews and take your business to a true Verizon store. read more

Their customer service finally got back to me and I was able to return the phone a little under two weeks later. Would strongly recommend that they provide basic customer protection like a minimal return policy or at least require your staff to mention the lack of one. Still very dissatisfied by the hassle, but this is a better outcome. Bring your business to one of these stores only if they update their policies or you intend to buy something through a verizon contract. read more
