My experience at the Verizon Wireless store on N. Clark St wasn't nearly as pleasant as some other folks.   I went there today, 10/21/20 to buy my wife a new cell phone.  Her birthday is coming up and I felt it was time to retire the trusty old flip phone.  I asked Pablo, self identified as the manager if I could PLEASE use the toilet.  I have digestive issues and once I feel I have to go (bowel movement) man, I HAVE TO GO!.  Like right now.He said no, it is for employees only.  He repeated this several times.  I said maybe you don't understand, I have to GO or something bad IS going to happen.  Again, he refused my desperate request to take a crap.Then everything let go.  I defecated on myself.  Too late. Out it all came.  Both embarrassing and quite unpleasant. Before 2 years we purchased phones in this store and had a great experience with an agent who worked there, that is why we decide to come in again today but the lady who works there looks like she didn't have time or she didn't like us. We asked for deals and promotions to update for a new phone and she said only one type of phone she has in the store and the only deal will be $200 off. She never asked for a phone number to pull out the account or give us more details. I experienced a MASSIVE "Bait and Switch" in this store on an upgrade price of a phone of $199 for a new "contract" on an iPhone 6. On May 28th, 2015. I dealt with someone who is only on receipts as maldoig-E025A I was informed as a part of a promotion for the upgrade price I would be getting a "Free" tablet as well. I repeatedly asked questions about this promotion IN DETAIL. I was repeatedly told "as a good paying customer you qualify for Verizon Edge so you owe nothing at this time." I asked if this was a credit program. "No, you will pay for the equipment charges today on your next bill" I asked if there was a monthly charge to this "Verizon Edge".... I WAS TOLD NO. A BLATANT LIE. I repeatedly stated my prime concern and reason for not upgrading was keeping my bill low. I was assured it would be. I continued to reinforce in questions FOR THE UPGRADE PRICE OF $199 FOR THIS PHONE I AM GETTING A FREE IPAD? He said yes. I left this store with all questions answered to my liking and with a Tablet and an iPhone I didn't have to pay for that day UNDER THE UPGRADE PRICE LISTED FOR THE PHONE AND THE PHONE ALONE WITH A FREE IPAD due to being a "good customer who qualifies for Edge" The bill arrived. I had been charged the upgrade price for the iPad solo and see some installment crap on the phone. I never even went in the store to have an iPad. I merely accepted it as he had told me it was included. The Verizon Edge is me paying full price for the phone over 2 years and I HAVE A LINE CHARGE FOR THE IPAD!! They will tell you "but we discount you on your bill".... no, screw that. I came in with specific intent and was baited and switched and followed up with numerous locations and stores to remedy this and have been ignored. I filed with the BBB today. I will be getting out of this contract as soon as possible. What was told to me that day were BLATANT LIES and BLATANT BAIT AND SWITCH. Less than an hour. From leaving my house in uptown with sprint service to getting my new service an phone to back home. Alex had everything squared away and was a multitasking maniac. If he ever needs a job ill hire him ASAP for my company. Excellent service and assistance. I used to hate. HATE. Verizon. AT&T was great till they started to nazi-fy their unlimited data holders. So Dumped them for sprint. Much like an all you can eat buffet with one slice of pizza and a French fry. Sure. It's all you can eat but not much is offered. I went in excited to get an Iphone 4 for $99 that was advertised on the Verizon website with their pre-paid plan. Turns out it's not for current customers. Say what? Bummer. I've had the same Verizon flip phone since 2008. 7 years All those years and you can't give me a deal? Boo - zero stars on keeping a loyal customer happy. Friendly employees and the ability to handle billing/customer service matters in-store. I'm a T-Mobile customer (one of the few, the proud), and I ran for the hills when I saw how much more my monthly bill would be if I switched to Verizon from T-Mobile using comparable service plans. read more

I had an amazing experience at this store. I went in for an upgrade on my phone because the competitors couldn't renew my contract early and give me the deal I wanted... Not only did they beat the competitors price and deal AND renew my contract early, I got the phone (for a better deal than the competitors), plus a speed charger, a travel charger, a case, AND screen protectors... for FREE! They also set me up so that I received a credit toward my current bill. On top of that, the staff stayed past closing time to finish the deal and went out of their way to make sure I was happy with my deal "as a long time customer". Go there now! I was blown away by my experience at this store!!!! I have had the same awful phone for awhile because I did not want to get rid of my unlimited data plan but upgrading. I found some plans that I was final okay with so I went in. I am from San Francisco and the Verizon stores by my house are awful. I hate going into them. This store was amazing. I knew what I wanted so they did not have to sell me on anything. They were prompt and efficient. They changed my data plan but did not change anything else on my plan. Jackie and another gentleman set up my phone and made it awesome. They suggested apps to download and even downloaded them. They really did a wonderful job and I was so excited to play with my phone afterwards. I would totally recommend this Verizon store to anyone. They did an amazing job and I will go out of my way to come back to this store. read more

Why does it seem that you always have to wait when you go to Cell Phone Stores? My experience was great at this location! I came in 20 minutes before they closed (not realizing that they closed at 8). They were more than helpful though and did not rush me so they could get out the door. I ended up getting an iPhone. It took almost 2 hours to transfer my data, so by the time I got out the door they had officially been closed for over an hour. The staff on duty made sure to teach me about my new phone, despite it being WAY past closing time. Definitely recommend this Verizon location if you need a new phone, staff was great read more

Just spent over an hour being sold everything in the store when all I wanted was a phone upgrade. After repeatedly turning down all of the add-ons, I was told I could only get my upgrade if I bought it through my app. The app didn't work so I then needed to use one of the iPads in the store. After all of that, picking up within the store wasn't an option. So, after an hour of feeling like I was trapped in a car dealership, I left with nothing. I've been tempted to leave Verizon for years because their service is shit. This store made me think again when I upgraded 2 years ago. Now, I may be reconsidering. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

My agent asked for my pin number during a three-hour marathon sales exchange. I went for a new phone and left with a new account...so far so good. But two days later, someone fraudulently ordered four iPhones on my account using my pin number. The Verizon store salesman was insistent that I transfer my account to my business debit card after I left. He even wrote me a post-it note to remind me. If I had, I fear the fraud instigators could have tapped into my checking account. The agent for Verizon's main phone line told me they have a policy against asking for pin numbers. The words part is I called the store manager and he couldn't have cared less. Go online and order your goods...or be very careful what you say at this store. I like this store. The staff is friendly. When I bought my phone here last year, they managed to upsell me on some accessories, but it wasn't pushy at all. They successfully showed me accessories I'd want and then gave me a discount to make sure the package was worth it for me. My phone stopped working recently so I went back in to get it fixed. They couldn't help me at the store (they tried, but couldn't fix). They aren't tech support, so it's not their fault. They were very friendly and apologetic about my phone breaking. read more

I went to another Verizon store with my dad to help him with something and an employee there told me about two promotions going on that this Verizon store neglected to tell me. I am writing to you to express my appreciation for the exceptional customer service I had received from Verizon staff members (Will Mendez, Chris and Steven) when I had visited the store on Saturday, July 3, 2021 and Saturday, July 31, 2021 located at 3019 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60657. I was deeply impressed by their professionalism, knowledge, and excellent communication skills. My first visitation, Verizon Representative Will Mendez assisted me and was extremely patient and understanding of my needs and provided impeccable customer service which caused me to make a decision to purchase two cellphones that day. The cellphones were not in stock, however, Will suggested that he could have the products ordered and shipped to his store location. I gave him the okay to place the order. I really appreciated his willingness and determination to do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. The overall experience was amazing. Such a commitment to great customer service is to be commended. You can be sure that I will continue to do business with Verizon for years to come and I will definitely share my phenomenal experience with others and recommend they purchase products from that location. read more

I was disappointed with the service. I came in on a weekend, and actually, I was surprised that at how many service people there were. The problem was that nobody seemed to know any of the answers to my questions. Only after I had told them what I had read on the website/ heard from others did they affirm my questions. I also found the manager to have a rude demeanor, which was not necessary. PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THEIR APPLE PHONE AND RECEIVED A REFURBISHED ONE AS REPLACEMENT BE AWARE. PLEASE TAKE YOUR PHONE TO THE APPLE STORE TO CONFIRM THAT IT IS REAL. VERIZON IS SENDING PHONES THAT ONLY HAVE THEW APPLE LOGO BUT NOT ACTUAL IPHONE internally. They will completely deny this... be prepared. Apple Store completely turns you down and can't touch the phone since it ISN'T an iPhone. I went to a Verizon Store and they are not able to help me. They also acknowledge that the iPhone that I have received from them does not look like an iPhone (the casing is different) and isn't as heavy as a real iPhone. When you call Verizon for help they will make you reset your phone send you a test to only tell you there is nothing wrong and the serial number that is it registered comes up as a iPhone... DUH! and that you are basically crazy. They either know this and make you feel like you are simply helpless and or are not aware that who ever they do business with... the company that provides the refurbished phones... are not actually giving them the product that is promised. The Apple store confirms this. The Apple Store advised for me to look into LEMON LAWS. I am canceling my ten year service with them. I have lost complete trust in this brand. read more

Alex and Jackie both went above an beyond to turn a bad situation into something pretty awesome. I recently opened an account with Verizon and purchased the Galaxy S6 Edge. When I received the device, it had some type of security defect and I needed to get it replaced. I went into the store and Jackie assisted me in getting a replacement quickly and easily. She was sympathetic and let me know that I am not the only one that has been having the issue with the Edge. Got the replacement, good to go. Until 30 minutes later when I realized that my replacement had the same defect. Not cool. I went straight back to the store, and Jackie again was understanding, and gave me the option of switching to the regular S6, or to overnight a tested S6 Edge. We decided to wait a day or two for me to contact Samsung directly to see if they could provide a solution. They could not, and I found myself back at Verizon the next day. This time I was helped by Alex, who spent two hours (not an exaggeration) figuring out a solution to my problem. We ran into various snags with my plan's replacement allowance, but he was diligent and ended up finding a way to reset my plan and set me up with the regular Galaxy S6 (which has no reported problems and is working great so far). I cannot express how appreciative I am that Alex took so much time to help me out. It was a problem with Samsung, but when Samsung couldn't fix my problem, Alex stepped up to find a solution. My Verizon account is brand new, and my experience with Alex and Jackie was the greatest first impression anyone could ask for. Kudos! read more

BEWARE OF THE EXTRA "FREE" ITEMS! I agree with the previous "bait and switch" comments. I was in a few months ago to get a new phone. I ended up with the Galaxy S6 and was told there were several "free" items that came with the phone. I questioned this but was informed that they all come with the phone. A few months later I return to the store because my phone was not functioning correctly and I made a comment about my "free" screen protector. The associate informed me that it was not "free"- it was part of a package that I paid extra for. He said there have been several complaints about this. This was news to me! I am not typically gullible, but I (and obviously others) trusted when the associate reassured me that the items were all part of the free promotion. I never would have purchased these extra items otherwise, but just accepted them since they were "free" to me. I tried to contact the manager (who I believe is Jason) a few times to complain and see if I could return some of these unused items to the store for a refund. He has yet to get back to me, which leads me to believe that he is not willing to deal with the issues to take care of his customers. I encourage others to seek other options before coming into this store. read more

My husband and I came in to upgrade our phones to the iPhone 7 in November. When trying to decide on which iPhone 7 to get, I had directly asked the associate working with us what was the difference between the two phones other than the size. He responded with nothing, and the size is a personal preference and that he himself preferred the larger one because of watching videos (note: he was actually watching a soccer game on his own phone while working with us). I preferred a smaller phone for portability, so I got the smaller version. Fast forward to Valentine's day and my husband takes an amazing picture of my daughter and I with his iPhone 7 plus. I asked him how he took such a great picture and he responded that he used the "portrait" setting on his phone's camera. Since I was told my phone and his phone were "the same" except the size by the associate at this Verizon store, I thought I would have the same functionality - unfortunately, I do not! I was SO upset. A better camera was one of the key reasons I was upgrading my phone! So I went in today, told the manager what had happened in November and how his associate (when directly asked) did not inform me of this important difference in phones and he said there was nothing he could do. And continued to say in a very condescending manner that "I should have come in informed about the different products". I replied with that is why people come into stores - to have someone help you understand the differences in technology. He said, "that if we came during the busy holiday season then my people wouldn't have been able to spend an hour with you explaining the differences of the phone", again in a condescending tone. No! I wasn't asking for an hour's explanation. But the associate should have been able to tell me (when I ASKED HIM DIRECTLY) by simply saying "the camera is better on the iPhone 7 plus". Which he could have said at some point over the 2 hours we were there waiting for him to locate and set up my phone. Maybe if he should have done that vs. watching the soccer match on his phone. Horrible customer service! If you don't think it is part of your job at a Verizon store to tell consumers about the differences in technology you sell at your store - then your a worthless resource to your customers. I will 100% stay away from this store in the future and after being a loyal customer of Verizon's for almost 15 years, I am now contemplating leaving to join a different network provider with better customer service. read more

Great store with understanding and helpful employees, from the manager on down. had gotten a replacement phone via insurance that did not work, they set me up with a phone and got the new replacement phone out quickly. also put on a new screen cover. Store is complete bullshit. the manager, while very pleasant was completely useless. She did make sure that i was seen immediately after having to leave the previous day, but the first guy she set me up with only said things like "no, we can't..." and had no solutions, nor even the common courtesy to say, "sorry, I can't...". I'm no genius but i'm pretty thats not how retail works. I have had an enormous amount of frustration with the HTC Rezoud (5 phones in 8 months!) Fortunately, this store (particularly Christell and Justin) have been most kind and helpful to me. They have helped me set up the phones each time, and patiently answered all of my questions. They have been the saving grace through all the hassles with these phones. Clarification: This is a Verizon corporate store, not a boutique retailer. I prefer using a corporate store when purchasing/upgrading a mobile device since my understanding is that things such as insurance is linked to Verizon stores across the country/world - not just to a single franchise retail boutique. Also they are more up-to-date on corporate promotions and policies so there tends to be more consistency across the the board instead of all these little loop holes of exceptions and confusions. This review is specifically for the beyond excellent customer service, product recommendation and ordering I experienced recently from current store manager Jonathan D. This man is an amazing person who has an honest and direct approach to communicating with customers. He is also reliable to return calls, email, and establishes a trust connection with sincere intentions. He is an asset and sets the tone for this store and made ordering my new iPhone, upgrading my family plan, and outfitting me with the best accessories a smooth and enjoyable process all for an affordable price. Jonathan was extremely understanding and mindful of my financial situation and wants for my new iPhone ordering and upgrading my family plan and was supportive throughout the whole 2 month process of ordering my new phone and even followed-up and helped me restore, upload, and set-up the phone once I received it via mail. I endorse and recommend his service and hard work to any potential, current, or past Verizon customer - you will not be disappointed. I understand that Verizon sales reps along with other retail peeps in this world can't solve all or other my problems or could've made my new phone arrive overnight (so please don't expect them to, they will be more willing to help). This is my go-to Verizon since moving to the city. Tonight the manager Leah helped me out with my broken Bose speaker. She was able to lookup when it was purchase and gave me a new one without any questions or problem. She also helped me put a screen protector on my phone, even though I purchased it through Groupon. She was very personable and great to work with. Even though there is usually a 15-20 minute, it is worth it for the friendly and knowledgable staff. read more

I received top-notch service from Kaylin Hatrick, Asst. Sales Manger. She was able to efficiently handle the technical aspects of getting a new phone ordered and have it up and running quickly. At one point, when the store was busy, she handled another customer and myself without missing a beat. I've had other cell providers before and I have to say that Verizon is the best and has the best coverage as well, at least for my purposes, and I do travel. I even had good coverage in Mexico, Cuba, and Bahamas without having to tinker with the phone. With staff such as Kaylin, and good coverage, Verizon is my choice for cell service. It's worth the extra $15 a month. read more
