I called ABT and spoke with Lou (his direct # 847-954-4140). I did some research before I called and liked the Samsung 55." 4K NEO QLED, originally $1,297.99, on sale for $897.99. Lou stated, "They had a sale starting tomorrow (Saturday) and that he could sell it to me for $651.00." Great! Lou said he could have it delivered next Tuesday. I explained my mother's situation and asked if it could be delivered tomorrow, on Saturday. Lou said, "I'll make it happen." Now that is exceptional customer service! Josh Hoffman was the technician who delivered and set up my mother's new Samsung TV. Josh programmed the Xfinity remote to the new TV, and my mother accidentally hit something that made the TV verbally announce everything she did. Josh asked if she wanted that, and my mother said no. Josh was quick-witted and a comedian; he had my mother laughing. You certainly can tell when an employee loves their job! THANK YOU SO MUCH, LOU AND JOSH, FOR MAKING THIS PURCHASE GO SO SMOOTHLY AND ENJOYABLE FOR MOM!

I've been in my house long enough to replace the appliances I bought previously. Since most places that used to sell appliances no longer exist, I feel Abt is the lesser of the evils, better selection and employee knowledge than the big box stores. I don't usual have a positive shopping experience at Abt. I'm mostly ignored and always have to ask someone to help me. I only go to Abt when I need to purchase something so it's ridiculous no one approaches me. Luckily my most recent visit was a positive one. I had to buy a new dryer and didn't know which one to buy. Rodolfo Alvarez was the sales rep that APPROACHED me. Rodolfo was kind and a great listener, I told him what was important to me and he showed me my options. He helped me settle on a LG dryer that I wasn't expecting to choose, but based on what was important to me, fit my requirements the best. Another couple was listening in and based on what he said, I think they decided to go with the same one. I felt bad he couldn't help us both since he should have gotten credit for the other sale as well. I told Rodolfo next time I need something at Abt, I'm calling him. Five stars for Rodolfo! I knocked off a star due to all of my previous unpleasant experiences at Abt.

    With the sole Onkyo service center closing in the Chicago area, I was driven to find someone closer…read moreto home who could fix an HDMI issue where it took a long time for the receiver to seemingly warm up and deliver HDMI video/audio. Talked to a number of places nearby and they didn't do work on these lower end units since they weren't as serviceable but Anthony recognized the problem when I called him and said he'd take a look. After a week he assessed that the easy fix of pushing on the problem chip since that at best is a temporary solution and could actually cause it to fail. We agreed to give it another week for him to try to obtain a factory refurb kit (to remedy design flaws) from one of the closed service centers. He got the kit and he undid a kluge repair that the authorized service center had done a year ago to get the LED display back so that he could refurb all the flaws inside to factory standards. Receiver is in tip top shape. Cost me $240, but kept this heavy piece of electronics out of the waste bin and does the job at home. (and saves me the search to roll the dice on a new receiver). Anthony's great on the phone and in person working with customers.

    I had a superb experience with Decibel Audio. They were the only dealer of Kef speakers in the…read moreChicago area, speakers that I had read stunning reviews of and wanted to test. I was referred to Adam at Decibel, who is an owner. He spent 3 hours with me on the day I went there to listen to the speakers, he recommended a specific speaker model suitable for my living space and listening tastes (all classical, mainly chamber), I had brought a couple of my cd's with me, he recommended a specific cd player which was so good it enhanced magnificently the very old cd recordings I deliberately brought with me (because I love them). Then, because I have a large LP collection, he recommended a specific turntable and stylus. He hooked up the cd player and then the turntable and I was blown away by their incredible, natural, precise, warm sounds. On top of that, he told me that various components were on sale, which was a nice plus. I had in my then home some old high-end equipment (B&W 801's, a custom made tube amp, custom made turntable, etc) which I asked if they would be interested in as a trade-in. He offered to look at them, I sent photos, he said he would move the equipment to his shop and then determine the value. The trade-in value he gave me, after his truly exhaustive research, was more than I expected, and even with respect to one piece for which he couldn't determine the value, he offered to sell it for me on consignment (I declined and simply wanted to donate it to him, but he insisted on giving me something for it). On top of that, they delivered and set up the system in my new abode, spent many hours doing that, training me, testing it, and then returned a week later to switch the speaker stands he recommended (which weren't in stock originally) which also were hugely discounted and he thought better than the loaner stands he gave me, retested all the equipment, and has left me with a concert hall quality sound system that is breathtakingly accurate and spacious, at an incredibly fair price. They are a pleasure to work with, no hard sell, no special fake listening room (just a normal, open space with stuff and people in it), very responsive and very, very honest. I cannot more highly recommend them, whatever your level of interest might be. (Incidentally, they have a large variety of equipment). (This review is entirely voluntary. Every time I went into the store, I have been treated with respect, given options for what I wanted to purchase, and Mohammed has always worked with me to give me the best possible price on the items, which are always in extremely excellent condition and like this past Saturday when I was looking at the 12.9 inch iPad Pro that he clearly stated had a battery that is failing and likely would need replacement very soon showed me a 9.7 inch iPad Pro that has a good battery and although a little smaller serves my needs very well and once again got me the best possible price on it. I very soon will be in the market for an Apple Silicon Mac so I can run macOS Tahoe, asked him if it would be worth purchasing one with a damaged screen and having him replace the screen on it, and he said I would not recommend that as the repair would likely be quite expensive and recommended checking with him in a week or two to see if he gets any Apple silicon MacBooks in which I definitely will do. You cannot go wrong if you want excellent advice, excellent quality devices, or repairs with CHICAGO GADGETS, I will be a forever customer, and recommend to all my friends and family members all the time to go to CHICAGO GADGETS for their tech needs. YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY WITH THE CONCERN AND TREATMENT YOU GET FROM MOHAMMED AND HIS CREW AS WELL AS THE DEVICE OR REPAIRS YOU HAVE DONE.
