They went up a star today. They are giving me the same service for thirty a month less including a new hi-def box and modem delivered for free. They're also providing a return pre paid postage box for the current equipment. Hopefully this is on the up and up and only extended my contract by four months. I've used them for about ten years and have had it. They use every trick to sell. To keep my business this time they offered a free box. I agreed to two more years. The box will not handle their high definition channels but the crooks never mentioned it. They are also sneaky on their app. It works on mobile devices but NOT ON A SMART TV. THEIR COMPETITION HAS IT FOR SMART TV. After this contract I'm done with Verizon. They get one star because on rare occasion you get a tech on the phone that knows what they are doing. It is hard to find a starting point on how bad the "Customer Service" and "Tech Support" really is. I've been using the Verizon FiOS Internet service (started at 1Gbps and now at 2.5Gbps) for over 4 years now. While it is working, it is great. But the minute something stops working, your phone service vanishes, you can't connect to the Internet to get your Customer Account Number. When I call in to get Customer Support, the AI asks me for my phone number. When I type it in and verify it is my number, the AI is unable to find my account. I have to wind up going through the menu to talk to a live person. The accent of most of the Tech Support people makes it hard to understand them. I have been around the world and I know some accents are harder to understand than others. 99% of the time, the "techs" you speak to sound like they are reading from a script. Especially the Tier I techs. When you have to go further up the chain, techs tend to work on your level. I try to advise whomever picks up my call that I am an IT Specialist and I prefer to have things explained to me as a fellow technical guru. Most of the time you get a Tier I tech, their goal is to get through as many calls as they can in a day. They have to stick to a Service Level Agreement that isn't very efficient, as they more often than not wind up having to get a more Senior tech on the call to troubleshoot further. Most Call Centers' Tier I staff have an SLA of at least 4 calls per hour, averaging between 32-40 calls a day. They don't get a whole lot of time to dig into a problem, as they need to worry about their time to move on to the next call. This is why they tend to work from a script. I know this from personal experience. When I was working at a Call Center, I averaged 125 calls per day at my prime. So I know the pressure. But when I have to go from call to call and reapeat what I stated to the previous person over and over, without the new person having notes available from the previous person at their fingertips. This is very inefficient. This is why I refuse to have Verizon as my mobile carrier. If there was another Fiber Optic provider in my area, I'd use them over Verizon. If I could give Verizon negative stars, I would. They always wind up leaving a really bad taste in my mouth. read more

I thought COX was bad because of slow uploads and some required restarts - then I was reintroduced to FIOS after 6 years away. Their customer service is almost entirely automated and does not address your problem. It takes 4 calls, ingenuity, and an hour to get a live person to help you cancel (that's also how long it takes to get an Englishspeaker) . Their speed is good but the freezing and outages make them unreliable - AND THEY ARE 25% MORE EXPENSIVE (I'm not even addressing the plus/minus hocus pocus that elon musk would find hard to follow). I have the Fios TV bundle (Phone, internet and TV with Verizon). The rep (Jeremy)was rude and unyielding for any further discounts and basically told me that if I keep calling in that it won't change the price, and they could take every discount away. I think that Verizon needs to put the people that call in, first, and help them, not hire rude customer service representatives that want to tell you that you call in too much and if you continue that it could have devastating circumstances. If there is a problem, good luck talking to a customer service rep. On Saturday I tried to log into My Verizon. As usual it didn't work. I had to reset my password, but you can guess the rest. After the reset they ask to complete my user profile. I have done this in the past, but I could go no further if I did not so I did. Then tried to sign in and told my password doesn't match their records. I tried this five different ways to no avail. I called and was out on hold for 25 minutes and then they hung up. I called back and asked to have my place put on hold and they would call me back. They never did. Wash, rinse and repeat today and the same thing. And for this crap service my bill keeps going up. I love the quality and reliability of Fios but I'm not sure it's worth the cost or hassle. At least when I had Comcast I could get help. Oh, and the chat function? Doesn't work because I have to sign into my account. It was so very frustrating and a huge waste of my time. Verizon needs to do better. I also recognize that I am writing a review about the parent company on a platform for a specific sales office. Shockingly bad quality! We have been FIOS customers for 15+ years, and happy with the service until recently. FIOS has switched to a streaming platform, using their new 5G technology. It's hard over-state what a disastrous roll-out it has been. After switching to the streaming platform just a few months ago, we have had a service technician to our home at least four times - and we still have problems - for example the sound and video picture don't match - imagine watching the World Series and hearing the crack of the bat AFTER the ball has already cleared the wall for a home run! or watching programs where a persons lips move and you hear the voice moments later! We were forced to purchase all new Apple TV streaming devices for each room, due to a conflict with Apple and Amazon Fire Stick. We routinely (2-3x weekly) need to "re-boot" the FIOS box. Constantly need to relog-in, and cannot set a recording using the FIOS app - despite the assurance that this feature is available. Verizon is so desperate to catch up with other streaming services that they "pushed out the new FIOS before it was ready" - in the words of one Verizon Technician. Advice: stay on the legacy system as long as you can, or choose another TV provider until Verizon can get this right. read more

We were initially happy when Fios came to our neighborhood. I was "sold" on the speed of Fios. Hubby liked the combined package of channels. Sales makes everything seem wonderful and workable. Then we ordered Fios and all of those promises of speed and helpfulness went away. Five visits and 15+ hours of conversations haven't fully resolved our issues. The area manager even met with us for 30 minutes to assure us he cared and would make things right. Words are only words unless they are backed up with action. The first visit was painfully discussed/planned, yet we received a confirmation for the wrong day. Darrell didn't finish the install and forgot to put in a work order for the next day. It took 3 hours to get a "maybe" for the next day. I had extremely different experiences with customer service over several days. One person was kind and wanted to issue credits for a year. She said to wait because we needed our service needed to be complete first (naturally she no longer exists and there isn't any proof of that conversation - even though Fios claims they record all calls). Another employee was hostile and unkind. If the calls are actually recorded, I'd love a manager to listen to every conversation. When I asked for the local manager's information, customer service refused to tell me. I finally got the information from one of the techs in my house. When the manager learned that his information wasn't given when asked, he was apologetic. He said that the employees think they are doing him a favor, but they are actually being unhelpful since the information isn't classified. (But apparently the location of technical support IS classified). Technical support and customer service don't share the same database so you have to keep retelling your sob story. It gets tedious repeating the same information. If no one puts notes in your account, there isn't any proof that you had any issues at all. Even my kidney stone resolved itself in three days. This painful experience has been dragged out for nearly 3 weeks. We are scrambling to research the competition while we can still cancel without being a hostage for two years. Promotional codes for rewards do not work. I tried using the one for the Shokz headphones but it doesn't work on the Verizon app like they said to use nor does it work on the Shokz website. It's very hard to reach customer service via phone or chat to explain. I keep going in circles with them with no knowledge to help because they do not "understand" the issue I'm reporting. I called Verizon FIOS on July 6, 2019 and spoke with a female representative. She told me Verizon FIOS offered a 60 trial period called Verizon FIOS Test drive but she failed to explain to me that bill would more than double from $79.99 per month to over $180 per month after the 60 day trial period. She also lied to me and told me I would be provided with a free 45" TV on the day of installation. When the installers arrived on July 7, they laughed and told me that the sales representatives were trained to lie and say anything to get a customer to sign up for services. They told me that the installers never carry the tvs on the truck and I would not receive the "free" tv for 30-60 days, so I had to go out and obtain my own second tv. Verizon FIOS TV tried to take my monthly bill from $03 per month to $182. When I called customer service and explained I was a senior retiree on a fixed income, they clearly did not care, it was totally about trying to extract as much money from me as they could. Again, the sales representative also lied to me about receiving the "free" tv on the day of install. It was shipped to me about 35 days after the initial day of service, which was July 7, 2019. Verizon's advertising on TV and radio advertises a price of $79.99, which is a total lie and misrepresentation. My first bill was $13 per month after I paid $199 to buy a router from Verizon rather than renting one for !3 per month. Verizon takes pride in taking advantage of seniors like me who are on a fixed income. Today, I reluctantly paid $133 per month with absolutely no movie channels rather than agreeing to pay a $350 early termination fee. Verizon is a dishonest company that uses bait and switch tactics to take advantage of seniors. Beware of Verizon Fios. read more

Over the past couple of months or so, I've noticed roaming Verizon representatives, usually wearing safety green vests or shirts, hopping around my neighborhood in Near Northeast DC, selling Verizon FIOS internet. They've visited my home about five times over the past couple of months. They rat-a-tat on the door or thrum the doorbell, and offer a greeting as unctuous as my own grumpy face is severe. I'm not unkind to them. They're young people swept into corporate service. They're also persistent, oleaginous, officious, and unselfconscious . . . in short, trained by a master marketer whose face we will never see. Gently but solemnly I have asked each roaming band of them put my address on their Don't Knock Here list, or whatever they call it. They look at me like I am a grumpy, slightly rumpled man who woke up on the wrong side. I think neither of us is wrong about the other. But also it is not my job to make them comfortable. Like many people in my neighborhood, I am running a household and running a business. I don't know whom to call to make the Verizon FIOS Sales Battalion pass over my house, and I don't especially want to put in time to do that research, which might prove futile anyway. But I've got some thoughts about dealing with persistent door-to-door marketers. I'll share them if you are interested. 1) Keep your cool, even if you have been pressed and interrupted by marketers repeatedly. Do not show much emotion and never raise your voice. Instead, be very serious, to let them know this is a serious matter. Their actions of marketing affect family, home, and peace of mind. 2) Don't give information, not even your name, or what internet or phone service you currently use. You do not have to oblige these people. You can say with the sweetest smile, "That information is not available." One fellow lightly mocked me after I said that, and pressed me again ("Aw, come on!"), to which I replied still smiling: "Come back with a warrant." I spoke only in the most dulcet of tones, and he laughed nervously, and left in a hurry. 3) Politely ask to be removed from their marketing list and database. Ask for your address to be put on a Do Not Call list. I have nothing personal against Verizon, and I've worked with their technical support team now and then to resolve email problems for clients. I do have a problem with predatory and relentless marketing, and being regarded not as a person but as a sales objective. Based only on Verizon's aggressive and manipulative marketing practices, I do not intend to ever use the Verizon FIOS service. read more

I have been trying to reach a human at Verizon to discuss a defective TV remote.... a simple issue. In the course of this attempt, I have been handed off to five different persons and assigned five different pass codes. I was not able to speak with a single live person. The options given to me by your computer-generated system for my reason for calling did not fit my reason for calling. Considering the fact that Verizon is a major player in the communications industry, I find the absence of intelligent communication capability with your customer base to be totally inexcusable. Computers can be very intelligent when programmed to address simple "yes/no" scenarios, but not where more in-depth discussion is needed. I spent three hours this afternoon without coming close to reaching an answer to my situation. I believe I could have resolved my dilemma with a five-minute phone call had I been able to speak with a customer representative. I realize the absence of adequate customer service staff may be the cause of this lack of attention, this is a fundamental sin of large corporations that grow beyond their capacity to service their customers. C'mon Verizon, wake up to reality before your customer base evaporates and your services are picked up by replacement industry. I now intend to begin my search for another TV/internet service provider. I may not be initially successful but I will remember this experience and seek a more responsive service provider. If this comment system had provided for fewer than one-star level of satisfaction, I would have selected that. This is a mixed review. I like the Cable TV offering and the Internet service. I switched from the other "big" TV company 2 months ago and they are still billing me even though they sent an e-mail confirming the cancellation - stay away from that one. Verizon kind of forgot to give me full billing information so I could load that into my on-line bill paying. It took several phone calls to get the right REAL person at Verizon so I could get the right information. There was no training on how to use Verizon's service, no guide book or even a listing of the stations. So I'm learning it by pecking around and making mistakes. One last thing, within 24 hours of the set-up another Verizon technician fat fingered something in the control room and turned off TV and Internet access. Again I had to call all around to get the right person to give me back what I'm paying for. They said they'd take some off the bill for the inconvenience - didn't happen. Let me start this by stating my qualifications. I worked at Enterprise Rent-a-Car for two years. The company whose founding value is "Customer Service is Our Way of Life." The first thing we are trained in is how to speak to customers and do everything in our power to make sure they are satisfied with their service. That being said, Verizon has provided me with the worst customer service experience of my life. I moved to a new location at the end of February. I used Verizon wireless services at my old location and was going to continue those services at my new location. I was told that the new location was not equipped with the wires needed for the services I had opted into and a technician would have to come out to set it up for me, at a $99 installation fee. When the technician arrived, I watched him plug my personal router into the wall and tell me that was it. He did no other installation. Naturally, I was confused about why someone had to come out and why I couldn't have just taken care of it myself. I felt as though I was being cheated out of my money. So I called for clarification. Spoke to a representative who was unable to explain to me why someone had to come out and why my address was not eligible for self install. He was relatively unwilling to offer any sort of compensation for the confusion. So I spoke to a supervisor. Same story, different words. Could not explain to me why my location was ineligible for self install, kept saying that since I placed the order and it was confirmed, there was nothing I could do. She offered a 50% adjustment to the installation fee, but was again unwilling to do anything else to compensate for the confusion and was honestly rude on the phone and spoke to me in a tone that was very belittling. So I requested to speak to someone else. "Mr. Marcelle" who refused to give me his full name, from Verizon's escalation team called me today. He was immediately defensive and spoke to me in a way that was again, rude, belittling, made me feel stupid and felt like talking to a wall. He interrupted me repeatedly, did not listen to my concerns or confusion, and tried to explain what had happened, but was continually contradicting both the things he was saying and what his 5-6 other colleagues that I had already spoken to had said. I explained to him that if the situation had been explained to me properly THE FIRST TIME I CALLED to place the order, I would never have questioned it. But given the experiences and conversations I have had with multiple Verizon reps, I felt cheated out of my money and as though Verizon sees their customers as simply cash cows that they will do anything to squeeze more money out of. If that is how they choose to run their business, I will be cancelling my services upon my next move. Buyer beware, find a wireless company who cares enough about their customers to explain to them properly the first time what they're money is going to and is willing to do anything to make it up to them when a mistake is made. So, a door to door Verizon salesman got me to sign up for FIOS. The installer came but could not run the line where we needed it. He said he would have Verizon engineering contact me. Since then, I've received about 8 phone calls asking me to reschedule service. When I tell them the problem they say they will have engineering contact me. Then they call back again to reschedule. I have never dealt with a more fucked Up company than Verizon. No one knows what is happening or what to do. Try contacting them and you can only get a machine voice and no way to get to people. When they call me, no one knows what the fuck they are doing. I've been called 5 times wanting to know why we canceled fios service, I explain the problem. But the people are USELESS. Verizon Fios customer service is absolutely terrible. When I signed up for Verizon Fios, they told me I was required to have a phone line. I apparently paid more than I needed to be paying for a service I never used for a year. Then my bill went from $90 to $160. Verizon then said I wasn't required to have a phone line and they'd only told me that before because it was cheaper that way at the time but no longer was. They reduced my bill for a new 2-year contract to what new customers pay and tried to act like they were bending over backwards to do so. I can't have a break in internet service and doubt I could get the same connectivity for a lower price, so I went with it. But what a sham this company is. read more

I am 70 years old and this is the worst customer service experience of my life. I'm trying to first get my computer to access the Internet. Second I'm trying to cancel a TV subscription as I am moving and canceling service. I have tried seven times to reach VerizonWaited well over one hour in total, and been sent an extra piece of equipment which has nothing to do with my situation. It is beyond horrible it is unimaginable. Oh I forgot after waiting for technician for several days it appeared that he fixed it only for the problem to repeat a few days later. Need I say more? I decided to call Verizon based on the $79.00 promo and because I have RCN which literally raises their rates $20+ every month without a reasonable explanation. Since we just got access to Fios in our neighborhood I thought it could not be worse. Verizon sent a tech who came toward the end of the appointment time. He gave a LONG explanation as to why he was not able to do the work: too late in the day (said it would take 5 1/2 hours), would need another tech, would have to take the wire from 1 block away (there is a Fios connection at my back gate), that he would have to drill a hole through the brick of my home and run the wire from the back of the house through 3 rooms and around 3 door frames to get it to the front of the house, and on and on. I decided to cancel the service call, though hesitantly because in order to get someone to set the service up to begin with, I had to give Verizon my SS #, checking account # and other sensitive information. That night 9 different people called my cell to ask why I cancelled. Now there are yellow-shirted sales people going door to door every day trying to strong arm people to sign up.I hate RCN but after reading the other Verizon Yelp reviews it seems as if Verizon is even worse! read more

The speed on the fios service is great, but the main drawback to Verizon is the customer service systems. Even if you get past the phone trees they usually have to schedule a home visit rather than a line check for issues affecting multiple homes. Last night a technician installed for a house ip the street and knocked out the service for all the houses down the street. Yet I have to wait 2 days for a home visit appointment due to their service system. They continue to claim that there is no outage in the area despite all services being interrupted for multiple houses. The support is all that drags down an otherwise good service. So I am hunting up review sites on my cell phone till they restore the service to my street after messing it up read more

Verizon took $128 out of my account with no explanation as to why and no one could seem to explain to me where the money went since there was no record of any payment $128 being credited to my account although my bank statement clearly displayed that the money was taken by Verizon. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR AUTOPAY!!!! They will take money that isn't owed to them. I canceled service in Oct because I moved to an area where FIOS isn't available so I was asked to send in proof of my new address for avoid the early termination fee, I did so immediately and paid what I was told would be my final bill in full. The end of Nov I received another bill for $254 which made no sense because I had already paid my final bill and my regular monthly bill was only $144. After calling customers service the Rep stated, "This is your final final bill for service through Nov 20th. First of all wtf is a "final final bill" clearly Verizon has no idea what the meaning of final is. I call in again to speak with a Rep about this $254 on my final final bill and she says that its for my Early termination fee then goes on to say that she see's where I sent in the copy of my lease and it has been approved for proof of residency and that the credit will be reflected on my Dec 20th bill. So lets be clear I went from a final bill to a final final bill and on Dec 20th I will get my final final final bill? I conclusion not only does Verizon steal from their customers but they are idiots. No they are not smarter than a 5th grader because they are still having trouble understanding 3rd grade words. I have been a costumer with Verizon Fios for years, when I called asking for a new service contract as good as what is being advertised on TV I was told it was ONLY for new customers. How ever they could offer me the same services I have now but at a higher price! Come on Verizon how about taking care of your existing costumers as well or better then new costumers?!?!? if i coukd give "0" stars i would. i called everyday on the 27th; 28th; & 30th re: my promo code that i coukd not use as it was stating "redeemed" & when i entered the code it would accept but wouldnt proceed to check-out??? spoke to "liz" on dec. 1st b/c previous reps stated they were noting my acct. of such, "liz" states, nope! my "acct. is noted as promo expired" not will expire as i am saying & there is nothing she can do about it-this is her stance for (1)??? not, let me transfer you to someone/dept. who can. find out i could've & should've been transferred to their "promo dept." or "rewards dept"??? whaaaat??? and why am i just now hearing about this allll week, & after an hour of lack of, customer service???? so now promo has expired & its my fault despite my numerous attempts to get some help &, resolution prior to. oh! and, i was speaking to "fios fiber dept" & they have nothing to do with promo codes, so that basically prove(s) i have not, been calling for promo assistance because i was in the wrong dept. that i didnt know, & knew nothing of the other depts. ... until today-dec. 1st. just so you know, verizon has no & takes no accountability for their actions & errors. they dont look to satisfy the customer, just give us your money because we are "the" conglomerate. thanks verizon. i feel so 'valued'. by the way, promo dept. says, nothing we can do! promo has expired & we were only honoring a "samsung" promotion. read more

My family and I have Fios because we have very little opportunity for anything else in our area (surprisingly), so w/that my wife called Fios and wanted to know why her online account did not address what would be owned for services rendered (our Fios account read he had a credit balance); at first, Fios, supposedly after careful analysis on their end, shared we did not owe money (there was no money due, owned, simply a balance of a few cents (we'd owe at the end of this month)). As that seemed weird to us, we went about our business; then a couple of days later, over a weekend, we owed money. We were assured via the Fios rep and her supervisors on the first call there was no money owned, then a couple of days later, hundreds of dollars owed, so my wife called Fios again. Asking Fios, hey what's the story? During the initial call, no money was owed (nothing on her account noted we owed; instead our account read money credited) and now w/a few days lapsing, a weekend, hundreds of dollars owed (how could that be, for we just spoke w/Fios on a couple of days ago). Eventually, after speaking w/a handful of individuals at Fios, we were transferred to a supposed Fios supervisor, so this Fios supervisor instead of identifying we, indeed, had called on Friday and we had, indeed, spoke w/a rep. who shared we had a credit, began openly laughing at my wife, mocking and ridiculing her; he kept up his belligerent antics against my wife. My wife, frustrated w/this sad excuse of a human being, asked to speak w/his supervisor, and he said he did not have a supervisor, and hung up the phone on my wife (the Fios supervisor terminated the call w/out speaking the reason for her call etc.). The Fios supervisor hung up the phone on my wife w/no resolution for why we were told one thing one day and a completely different thing on another day, which did not speak to why we called in the first place: why is there not an indication of money owned on our account, then boat loads owned to Fios; this supervisor openly chose not to listen to what we had experienced from Fios and instead mocked, laughed, ridiculed my wife, who by the way happens to be handicapped; my wife has cerebral palsy (and the supervisor knew this).
