Larry and Vishwa are great. They replaced the transmission in my Nissan Murano. They were very quick and about $3000 less than the dealership wanted to charge me. When I brought it back for the scheduled checkup a seal was leaking. I left it on a Friday and Vishwa worked on a Saturday to get it back to me on Monday. I would give them no stars if I could. Very slow and didn't really know about my car, if you have a car under the year 2000 they might be helpful. And if you can be without your car for a full month or more because they are slow and there's only two of them and they don't work full days. I was worried that I was of having tranny rebuilt, so I brought my explorer by terry to check it out, when I got there he stopped what he was doing hooked up the car, drove it around the block and diagnoses it in the first 15 minutes I was there. It was just a misfiring problem and refered a good tuneup shop that specialized in 3 valve engines and they took good care of me. Its good to know that there's good people that just want to help and be good business owners not try to sqeeze you for your money. I will refer anyone to him. read more

We had our regular mechanic give us the horrible news, our transmission was DOA. After looking into possible transmission replacement costs for a 93 Suburban workhorse with 240k miles on her, we took her to Vern's. A little skeptical was my left brain, he had called the night before and Terry told us to bring it on in. We did. They drove it around, did some testing and Terry told us, "you know, I can't really tell until we get the pan off and see what we find", so we left her in Terry's care. WOW, WOW, WOW! I dropped my 1975 Chevy pick up off as it wasn't shifting. It is an automatic tranny and it was replaced only 7000 miles prior. So I was kind of upset. 2 hours later, Terry called me back and said the truck was ready! I went to pick it up and he said there was no charge!!! He said it was just a 3" hose. So I told him I was off to Yelp to give him a review. So many times people are SOOOO quick to slam a business when they do wrong. But I want to let people know about this quality shop. This shop is the worst place to take ur vehicle. I had to call them to see if my car was finished cuz it was almost closing n they said yes we almost didnt have it done. I walked there to pick up my car that I brought there for a simple transmission service to change the filter and fluid. When i get there my car n it wnt start n the key gets stuck in the ignition. The shifter had a horrible clinking noise when tryna put it in gear to see if that would release the key. They said they dnt kno y cuz it was jus fine when they were parking it. Well a bushing fell out of the linkage n that was the whole problem why this happened n I had to pay another shop to tell me this but that is the least of what happened. They keep my car they dnt kno y it did this but I left my cad n key stuck in ignition so that drained my battery overnight n I couldnt find my spare so they had to break in my car which I was ok with. So aftr this i go to pick up my car n still they couldnt find out what the problem was so they told me i had electrical issues I needed fixed b4 they put back the bushing that fell out. Mind u none of that was wrong prior to them having my car! So they showed me how to bypass the problem by jumping it with a paper clip. I am so mad cuz I did not have ne thing wrong with car besides it needing a transmission maintance service. I talked to a friend that referred me there n he calls them asking them that isnt rite to just push me out like that cuz my car was fine n now its not. He asked them how they feel if they had a daughter n this happened to her if that would be acceptable. Ne ways they told him to have me bring my car in so they could recheck but when we get there they act like they dnt kno y were there n then refuse to look n say all this bs lies that my car isnt street legal cuz of the issues (which was none) n if that were the case y did they touch it if it could b a liability? N then they lied n siad they didnt test drive my car when originally bringing it to them n then had the nerve to say I didnt pay when I did n i showed them proof from my online banking. They say this bcuz it supposedly didnt show on the report paper on their end which is also prolly a lie too. This shop is totally incompetant and a bunch of lying dishonest a holes which need to b ashamed of themselves with thier lack of conscience. God does not like ugly n they will have to answer to the almighty when judgement day comes!!!! I kno every1 has their own opinions and experience with this ship but as for me I will never recommend nor briny car back ever to this place! You really never need to worry about dishonesty with Vern's, Terry and his crew are the most trustworthy mechanics I have ever met. He's taken care of me many times and I am completely comfortable bringing my car in for service. I'm giving Vern's transmission only 2 stars and now I'll tell you my story. My college student daughter has a 1999 Jeep Wrangler sport a beautiful all original and is an on road vehicle, This vehicle does not go off road 4 x 4-ing. so one summer my daughter was having problems with the rear end of her Jeep we took it to Vern's transmission to have it repaired it wasn't cheap but it was about the average cost after looking around. With the repairs done my daughter went to college at WSU A month later. So fast forward she comes home from WSU two years ago and works the summer here in University Place and the problem starts all over again this must be about a year later from the original problem to this one. So we take it back to Vern's transmission where we can leave it until the repairs are made no cost to me they told me the seals were leaking. So last summer 2018 my daughter comes home again from WSU with her jeep and on that last Thursday she would be here, I was having the oil changed because she was leaving on Sunday to go back to WSU for her senior year. University Place auto did the oil changed and told her that the rear end seals was leaking and has gotten into the brakes and now they were contaminated so the brakes needed to be redone and the rear end seals needed replaced. I called Vern's transmission Thursday and got no reply from them being short on time I called again Friday with no response in the morning so I had UP Auto go ahead and do the repairs. Terry called me that afternoon and wanted the vehicle towed to his place but the repairs have already started and I did not want Vern's transmission to do it a third time. I told Vern the cost would be $800 and if he would reimburse my daughter for her college fund he would not do it then I asked him at least pay half of the cost and he stopped taking my calls and stopped responding. So now I'm writing this review six months later. University Place auto sent photos that had the original seal partially still on axle from the original repair and the last repairs that were done by Vern's transmission the seals were damaged upon installation I was told. If Terry reimburses my daughter I will update this review and change it read more

Totally exceeded my expectations. I originally wanted to do business with Vern's because of all the good reviews I've read and now I will continue to do business with them because of the great experience. After having to rescedule my previous appointment I showed up 30 min early for the next one I chose due to getting out of school early and was immediately greeted by a mechanic who got right to work on my transmission when I was expecting to have a bit of a wait. Service ended up even being quicker than I imagined and was charged a fair price. The only minor downfall that may cost Vern's business is that they dont have anyone answering phones all day but Terry called me back promptly after leaving a message so don't feel like leaving a message would be pointless. STAY AWAY. So I took my vehicle to another transmission shop after Vern's had 1.5 yrs & 4 opportunities to correct my manual transmission problems. The other shop found no plug in the main transmission that holds the transmission fluid so transmission fluid was leaking out excessively. This must mean there was somewhere else the tranny fluid was leaking out before the plug blew. The other shop also found NO BOLTS holding the rear half of the transmission to my vehicle so either Vern's didn't tighten the bolts they put on my transmission or they didn't put any bolts on the rear half - your guess is as good as mine. The other shop also put in a rebuilt transmission which is supposedly what Vern's had done the last time they had my vehicle. Why would I need another rebuilt transmssion 1 yr after Vern's had supposedly done the same thing? I would guess because Vern's never put a rebuilt transmission in my vehicle. read more
