This cuban bakery in who-knows-where Miami was just what we needed for our drive to Key West. Well, not really as the sugar high wore off at the wrong time, but who cares, it was delicious. Luckily we got there pretty early (9a or so) and first went to the restaurant where there was a wait, then realized there's a separate bakery which is what we were looking for. Basically, you get in line, tell them what you want, somehow they remember you with all the madness going on, hopefully find a table, pay, get your food and enjoy! We had an assortment of pastries, a mini cuban sandwich, some cuban toast, and coffees and everything was excellent. The chocolate éclair was probably the best one I have ever eaten. Came here in 2022 enjoyed it so much, we hit this bakery twice. My girlfriend and I loved the coffee and pastries. Now in 2024, the same items tasted a little stale and not as flavorful. Worst of all, there was a fly underneath one of my mini pastries. I contacted the bakery directly since I like to hear from a business first, before giving them a bad review online. This Cuban bakery was *highly* recommended as the "place to try while in Miami". I should preface my review by recommending when visiting this establishment not to be in a rush whatsoever. The line was hectic and they have paper number machine that you need to grab your number and then get in line. With maybe 15 people ahead of us, the wait was an hour but we weren't in a hurry. The menu is difficult to understand if you don't speak Spanish and there were a lot of pastries that didn't have any labels. I'm sure that they could borrow a label maker for the trays and it would alleviate quite a bit of the back and forth questions from dumb tourists like us (haha) If you go in with this mindset, you will not be disappointed. We ordered lots of items to taste as much as we could. Some to eat there and others to take with us. Here are the highlights: 1. Empanadas - the ham and cheese were divine. The cheese was similar to ricotta in texture and the ham was diced bits. The crust was perfection! 2. Cheese & Ham quiche - the cheese and ham were good but the crust was unexpectedly sweet. This bakery is always packed.They have a huge parking lot that it shares with the restaurant in walking distance. Currently, this is the meeting location for many of the Cuban protest and lots of media is posted here.This place gets packed for be prepared to wait. They have a large variety of treats and it is hard to limit yourself to just one. The baked goods are reasonably priced and delicious. The primary language here is Spanish, but I was able to make my order without much problem. I got a lemon tart with fruit and it was good. If you are ever in the Miama area, you need to stop by the Versailles Bakery. This is an authentic Cuban bakery that serves a variety of cakes and pastries. When visiting the area, my husband and I like to stop in and grab some pastries to go. Some of my favorites are their cannoli, their dulce de leche horn and their thumbprint cookies. I can't remember the name, but one other cookie that I like is half dipped in chocolate and has a hole in the center filled with chocolate. Versailles was at the top of my list of places to go to in Miami. The building itself stands out from the road and the patio was super charming with its woven chairs and checkered tiles. The staff was really kind and patient as we figured out what to order. I decided to go with a ham and cheese empanada and a ham and cheese croqueta, my fiancé ordered a guava pastelito and the tartaleta de fruta. Our favorite was the fruit tart, the pastry cream was good and the fruit was fresh. The empanada and guava pastelito were more doughy than flaky, and the croqueta also felt a little doughy/wet inside. That said, I can see why this place is so popular and I appreciate the historical significance of it for the Miami and the community. There are better bakeries for sure but I think it's still worth stopping by and soaking up the ambience. read more

This is a gem in Little Havana! We came in during the afternoon and there was a small crowd, which I'm betting for this place is normal considering all of the amazing options they have. There was also a ton of seating inside too. We ordered a plethora of food including the Cubano sandwich, ham croquettes, beef empanada, guava and cheese pastry, and papa rellena. We basically wanted to try as much as we could and they were all so tasty! That guava and cheese pastry was the perfect combination of flakiness and sweetness. Also $1 Cuban espresso?! Say less. TLDR: Great snacks to go. ___ I dropped in last week to get some Cuban bread while I was in the area and ended up leaving with much more. The Cuban bread was a delight. I used it to make grilled sausage sandwiches. I also got croquetas, pastelitos, empanadas and desserts. The croquetas are large and not super crispy (which I like). I had to wait for some fresh ones that were being made and they snuck an extra 2 in my order for my troubles. I'll take it! Empanadas were just ok. They barely had filling. My people aren't known for our empanadas....I give that crown to Argentinians. With that said, they were still ok. Pastelitos were great. Guava, cheese and coconut. The coconut especially had a TON of filing. They were all great. Desserts - I got some señoritas - thin, flakey layers of pastry with decadant cream in between each layer. It's a delight. I understand why everyone recommends this spot for Miami. For one, the prices were so affordable for everything and everything we got was so tasty! We ordered the key lime pie, guava cheese pastry, guave cheese pie, cubana, and a ham croquette. You have to get guava pastries, the flavor is so good and I just don't get guava flavored stuff too often! However , we learned we needed to grab a number first then wait for them to call your number for you to order. If you just want baked goods and be in and out of Versailles, fear not, you can just stop by the bakery and experience the greatness of the Versaille restaurant in a fraction of the time. They also have plenty of parking and seating. While the line may look long, they've been doing this long enough to get people through the line pretty quick. You got all the cuban pastries you could want from ham croquettes to guava pastries to potato balls that are all delicious. The carne empandas are spiced picadillo flavor envelopes that are amazing too. All of them are among the best we had in the city. Besides that you can also get various desserts for cheap as well and the key lime pie here is also excellent (never say no to pie for breakfast). I also tried a cuban sandwich here cause I figured I owed myself to try one of these in Miami before I left and the hefty sandwich is pressed to a delicious portable package. That said, the sandwich was the only item that was a bit underwhelming - felt like it needed more mustard to cut through the meat and the roast pork in my sando was a bit on the dry side. But all that said, still a great sandwich. I have to say, the price point makes everything just that much better. For how long this place has been in business and how touristy it is, I would have been happy to pay probably 30% more and still would have walked away plenty impressed, but thankful they keep prices low so that everyone can enjoy this piece of culinary history. They just celebrated their 50 year anniversary recently so here's to another 50 years. read more

The long-awaited Cubano did not disappoint- just look at that cheese pull!! Bread was super toasty and not too thick, which I prefer, and the inside was just bursting with flavor. One Cubano was enough for two people to share, especially considering all the pasties you'll end up buying as well. Amidst the scramble to not have to bring leftovers on the plane, the two of us finished all of these pastries in-store. However, we STILL ended up buying a fresh batch to take back home across the country. This is a great hang out on days at Versailles where you have to wait to be seated in the restaurant. It took us less than an hour to be served and that was the length of our wait time. Furthermore, I got to eat dessert before lunch! I love Tres Leche. That's what I had. There were lots of goodies to choose from, but I stuck to what I was familiar with. Prices are very, very reasonable. It's to the point where they could charge double. Espresso Cubano, for example, is only $1. What is only $1 anymore other than the Dollar Store? I overheard someone else making the same comment. My Tres Leche was $3. I very rarely order dessert at a restaurant, but aren't they usually double that price? We went on a Saturday. While it is more of a tourist destination, the ladies at the ventanita know how to make a great colada and this is still a staple of Little Havana.
