Coming from Southern California, I was not sure what to expect in a Chicago Burb. Versed blew my expectations out of the water! Ryan's creative coloring technique gave me a look I've longed for. Molly cut my hair and did a really great job. I have really thick coarse hair and I was worried my layers would be uneven but it came out perfect. I went from medium length hair to a bob and she layered and thinned my hair so it all blended nicely. My husband even said it was the first haircut I've had that didn't look uneven. I'm definitely going back. It's a very kid friendly place which is important. The staff is very nice and I didn't feel intimidated or pressured into buying things I didn't need. I stopped in here today to get my blonde hair dyed a darker color as well as a hair cut. My stylist was Matt, and he was amazing! He talked me through the whole process and every suggestion he gave me was really helpful! It is definitely not what you would expect to find in Plainfield and it could easily be a successful salon in the city. Top notch stylists, decor, and style. Matt Frankovich, stylist with purple flair- Did you step out of a European salon just to make me feel like I'm walking a runway? I thought I would never find another stylist who "gets" curly crazy "are you sure you're a white girl?" hair... I found you AND you're close to my house! I loyally followed my amazing Zazu stylist all the way to Hinsdale, even in rush hour traffic, for over a year... but a girl with roots has to practice timely maintenance, so I started looking closer to home. Mario Tricocci - okay, but I would see four separate people before walking out (How many people do I tip?) Robert Graham- great listeners, but not conversational and WHOA on the upsells! Then I looked up Versed Salon on Yelp and okay, good photos, good reviews. Fast forward, i'm walking out all smiles because the cut and style that Matt and Kristen gave to my daughter and me were perfect, efficient, and gorgeous! Everyone was down to earth and welcoming. She listened to me, was very patient and worked until we got the cut I liked. I just LOVE this Salon, and my Stylist, Dana! She gets the color, cut and blow dry right EVERY time! She really is an Artist! Years ago I had a string of bad hair salon experiences, thankfully, thanks to Dana, those days are over! The products they use are amazing! This place could absolutely not get any better. My sis and I had our hair and makeup done for a wedding. It was incredible. The hair stylists were incredible and super fast. My sister has never ever in her 40 years on this earth liked her hair when it was done in an up-do, but this was the first time she was 100% happy with the look! And their makeup artist is phenomenal, and she wants you to communicate with her and let her know what you like or don't like. She does airbrush makeup and it's amazing! They even send you thank-you cards in the mail. I live in California, and they still sent me a card. If it's raining, they'll walk you to the car with an umbrella over your head. Moved and was looking for a new salon. This place was amazing way above my expectations. I actually felt pampered like I was royalty. The staff were extremely friendly and not fake, at the same time extremely professional. My shampoo person was an absolute delight and I feel bad for forgetting her name because she was simply amazing. Rebecca is a great stylist who convinced me with the current length of my hair that a particular cut wouldn't work until my hair grew out. She convinced me to try an alternate cut and I now actually prefer the cut she suggested to the original idea I had. Simply amazing to have someone who treats hair like art (as they should) and is able to shape the cut to compliment my head shape. I would have never asked for this cut but it looks amazing. As a bonus they carry Kevin Murphy products which are cruelty-free products that so far I really like. They are more than willing to hold product for you until your appointment and you're always greeted with a smile! Both Dana and Renee have cut/colored me and they are so attentive and masters at their skill. The scalp and hand massages aren't so bad either. Not only does the salon look very chic and upscale, it is free of clutter and looks organized. I called and made an appointment informing the receptionist that I was looking to go bleach blonde and when asked what I currently had I described it as a balayage and so the appointment was all good and set. Upon arrival it was good and clear they were following safe COVID protocols and then when I sat down with my stylist she enthusiastically asked what we were doing today. When I expressed that I wanted to go bleach blonde, her mood immediately changed. She said "that's not what I have you down for today, I have you down for a balayage and so you will need to either do that or come back another day" which was said in a very dismissive tone. I unfortunately was caught in a situation where I wasn't being treated as I think a customer should who ended up paying $300 for a service. As it unfortunately turned out, I did agree to get the balayage done and I truly was happy with the way it looked in the front but after going to a different salon only a couple weeks after to go blonder since I didn't want to go back to versed given the poor service, they expressed how the full balayage that i was told was done was actually only a partial and so not only did I not even get what I really wanted but I also overpaid for a service I didn't even end up getting. read more

I'm the person that gets my hair cut only once a year because I end up disappointed with the outcome (the service, the artist, the atmosphere, etc.) every time. The salon is beautiful with a great atmosphere. The ladies at the front desk are extremely pleasant and helpful. More than anything, I cannot say enough good things about artist Renee Edgcomb. She walked me through everything she was doing, including what products were used, and tips & tricks for styling. This is the very first time an artist has taken the time to explain to me exactly how to manage the cut and color I have (which is completely necessary because I am 0% a hair person, and I can barely figure out how to brush my hair, let alone brush and blow dry at the same time to make a style work). Hands down, I have never felt as comfortable or been as impressed with a salon or hair artist before. I finally feel like going to the salon is a treat, instead of a chore. I called for an appointment with Matt based on the reviews here, but the receptionist said Darbie was good with the type of hair I described, so I saw Darbie. The salon is beautiful, clean, and everyone was friendly and helpful- thus the three stars. Darbie was upbeat but didn't seem to care whether or not I liked my hair. I mentioned that I didn't like a certain product that she continued using, however the worst part was the cut. I walked out with a very dated mediocre cut resembling Jennifer Aniston's early Friends days. I'm older so perhaps Darbie didn't feel the need to please. I liked the salon and might consider trying Matt if there is a next time. For now, I have to find someone to fix the cut Darbie gave me. read more

I came to get my hair styled .. I asked for a blow out with curls.. They just washed my hair didn't even style it with the round brush like how I had expected and just used a curling iron .. And curled my hair.. The hair wasn't even properly curled and whatever was curled ..the curls came out within 15 mins of leaving the salon .. I had been going to Versed Salon to see Darbie for over a year. I was extremely pleased with their services until my last visit. Darbie was running about 15 minutes late, which was fine, I wasn't in a big hurry. 15 minutes beyond my scheduled time, I was brought back for a wash. After my wash Darbie cut my hair in record time and then proceeded to have the girl who washes hair (who I love btw) style my hair while she moved on to her next client. Keep in mind, I was kept waiting for 15 minutes - she never moved on to me from her previous client. Ari did a great job styling my hair - truthfully, she did a better job that Darbie normally does. I was quite disappointed that I was not given the same respected treatment that other clients receive, However, the worst part of this whole thing was that 2 days later, when I washed my hair, I realized it was horribly cut ! I had several areas that were 2 inches longer than others! And somehow Darbie had put longer bangs in when I specifically asked for no bangs! I would have gone back to have it redone, but it was a Sunday and they are closed Sunday and Monday and I was having a baby on Tuesday. I had to cut my hair myself, as best as I could. I am extremely disappointed that I paid $50 for a haircut that was so poorly executed and I was not treated like a valued customer. It's definitely time for me to find a new salon. read more
