During my most recent appointment, she worked wonders on my highly damaged hair with a great cut, along with shampoo and conditioning treatments that left my hair feeling much healthier. I also had a root touch-up and highlights done, and the results were fabulous. I was so happy with the outcome that I booked my next appointment before leaving the salon. i have been going to this salon for a couple years. spent a lot of money on color and extensions 6 weeks ago tiffany did my hair. the color was so good and the cut. i went back the other day. she was rude seemed upset i did t want to buy product. i asked for my hair to be lighter. she did a base and never came back to do foils. she ignored me and worked on another client. i asked the lady who shampoo about my foils but she did not speak english my hair is horrible dark. and tiffany is a little scary. i won't be back. read more

I called them after 2 years to schedule an appointment to find out they cannot make an appointment for me. They refused to provide me the reason and said the owner would call me but I still haven't heard from them and it's been over 2 weeks. My last visit I provided feedback on my experience directly to them stating my dissatisfaction with my service. I went here one day to fix a bummer of a haircut I had gotten previously. The gal did improve the cut, but she didn't do as great of a job that I'd hoped and spent more time selling me their products and explaining hair basics to me than I would've liked. When I changed my mind about some of the products and went to return them a few days later, the lady at the counter told me they can't do a full return and to take them to the Oak Brook store to do so. When I went to Oak Brook they couldn't understand why I was referred there since they couldn't take the return either. I suspect the Naperville location was protecting their commission and just acted like they couldn't take the return. Oak Brook told me to call corporate so I will. Overall nice place, but overpriced for the service you receive, and don't expect to get any help with returns! read more

I went to the salon to get a full highlight and haircut. first of all I get there and the girl tells me she can't even do a full highlights or she needs to give me a partial after I communicated that prior to my appointment. I asked for golden highlights.!! I ended up getting over-processed ash highlights!! The haircut look like I got a mullet short in the front and super long in the back. I had to go somewhere else while I was travelling to get it cut.. my hair is so dry overprocess and it's been falling out. I've been in tears from this... please don't waste your time along with that they overcharge and have poor customer service. read more

Had an okay experience at best. Went in for a blow dry/style and brought my teen daughter in for the same service. They couldn't get us in together, which was totally fine. The receptionists weren't particularly helpful (it was our first time there but they didn't offer to hang up our coats or show us where to hang them, didn't explain where the waiting area was). My daughter went first and had a good experience, which was great. My stylist was running late so someone else shampooed my hair; I was surprised they didn't offer any of the relaxation techniques that Aveda salons usually offer (scalp or hand massage etc). My stylist spent most of her time complaining about customers who cancel ("when we don't work, we don't eat.") or telling me my hair didn't "feel" like Aveda hair, which made no sense. My blowout was marginal, at best. Waste of time and money. I don't recommend. There are better salons out there. read more

This review is long overdue. Taylor has been coloring and styling my hair for a little over half a year now, and I refuse to let anyone else touch my hair ever again! Besides the fact that she knows exactly what I want before I even know myself, she genuinely cares about her clients. I first came to her for my Vomor extensions upkeep, and never once did she try to convince me to do more than I absolutely needed. Many hairstylists I've seen before always tried to persuade me into spending more money on services I really did not need, but Taylor truly only cares about making her clients happy. Every time I leave Paul Joseph, I stare at my hair in love the rest of the day. I couldn't recommend Taylor more--she's SO talented and truly a great person behind the chair! read more

They use professional Aveda hair products and share knowledge with you on how best to care for your hair. If you are looking for a change in your hair or a change in your stylist I would highly recommend booking an appointment or consult with Tiffany. She is truly a master at her craft and is always learning the best ways to color and cut. When I see her, she hand paints my hair to make the color blend in with the roots so that when it grows out it's not choppy and obvious, which is something I have experienced when I ask for highlights at other salons. I am extremely happy with my Stylist, and her service. She's AMAZING! I am extremely disappointed with how the salon communicates with clients. I booked an appointment and I had to cancel after the 24 hour policy, I was billed for a cancellation fee (which I understand) but I was told I would receive a credit since I rescheduled my appointment. After my appointment, and as I was checking out, the price of the service was increased with the amount of the credit, without prior notice. The reason given, "well, that's what happens when the stylist gets more requests. Her prices are increased". It would have been nice to know about the price increase as I was checking in, that's all. Worst salon experience ever. I made appointment for a trim and to style my fine shoulder length hair into beachy waves. ASK TO SEE PRICE LIST FIRST!!!!!!!!!! I had a nice girl do my hair that told me she had only been out of beauty school for 8 months and that she was 20 years old. No big deal. Not a Senior stylist, but I just wanted a trim and to have my hair look nice for my first day on a new job. They charged me $90!!!! For a cut and style! Seriously? I'm from SF and that's extremely high for the city (usually $65 and flat ironing curls is part of the cut.) I paid and then went to my car to look at the price list she handed me on the way out. Haircuts are supposed to be $40. I called 5 min after I walked out the door and spoke to the receptionist asking why I was charged more than double. She said haircuts only include blowout and I got flat iron waves put into my hair. Well, that's an extra $50? She literally spent 10 minutes on it. I asked her to clarify pricing and she couldn't. She told me her manager would call me the next day. Well, that's my first day on a new job so no, I don't want to deal with disputing why you charged me $50 to flat iron waves into my hair and it should have been included in trim. I feel ripped off, and my hair was just ok. I feel like I could have achieved the same look at home saving $90. Terrible customer service and no transparency on arbitrary pricing. When I called to set up my next appointment I was told she had quit and I was set up with another senior stylist. Such disappointment. I have been going here for over a year to the same stylist. This last time she did the color and it looked great. When it came to the cut and we discussed face framing and a trim up of the layers. I have very long hair. Without asking she started thinning out my hair. I should have told her to stop as soon as I noticed the 8 inch long sections of hair on the floor, but she said i would get more volume and the hair that was cut would not be noticeable. I notice. I went from having beautiful full hair to hair that looks like I have an illness causing my hair to thin. It no longer goes in a bun nicely. I have so many uneven layers. It is so staticky and frizzy. It will take me years to grow my hair back out to where it was. I left a message with how upset I was with the cut. They had the young receptionist call me back. Couldn't even have a stylist call me. I will never come back here. I just don't know why someone would cut so much hair off without consent. She had been great up until then. They offered to look at my hair and have a stylist give recommendations. I declined. Unless they were going to put in extensions, there is nothing that can be done. read more

The moment I walked in the door, I was greeted like I was their best friend! I didn't have an appointment, but just needed a trim. They were more than happy to get me in for a trim, and offered me a wide range of refreshments. They took my jacket and scarf for me and personally introduced me to my stylist. My stylist, Gabrielle, was incredible. She listened to what I wanted, confirmed how much she was going to take off and explained why, and made sure I was okay with it all. Gabrielle was very personable and easy to talk to as well! As she was styling my hair, she used a wide variety of products that my hair actually needed. Not only did she color my hair as I desired but when she encountered difficulty getting my toner right thee more stylists (including the owner) came over to help her. The end result was better than I hoped for. She was honest with me about a bit of damage to my hair (I expected some) and advised me what to do to care for it. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and I was able to get in same day. I had a haircut and color done. I am very happy with both. There are a lot of great things to say about Paul Joseph Salon - friendly staff, great hand massages, Aveda products, and overall quality service. However, none of this makes rudeness acceptable, particularly on the part of the owner. While I left happy after a $150+ full set of 'bright blonde' highlights, I became concerned when people started asking if I'd had lowlights later that day. I may not be the natural blonde I once was, but I expected more than the stripes (pictured) that I found upon further inspection. The manager, Tatiana, was collaborative in response to my concern and suggested Paul would entertain a reasonable reimbursement if I was too uncomfortable to come back and get it fixed. Paul did call me back the next day, but was incredibly rude from the get-go. Instead of focusing on a solution, he quickly made it clear that he'd be happy to lose my business and that he would not entertain the negotiation of a reasonable refund. To be fair, he eventually apologized for his tone, but not without prompting. I'm not sure what kind of customer drama this place has been through to take such an accusatory tone with a first-time client interested in a solution, but I do know that I'll be happy to avoid it moving forward. At the end of the day, Paul's insulting approach was too much to accept his 'complimentary' offer of a 10-minute consultation in light of my trouble/concerns. read more
