Came in because of a gift card. I've never been there before. Asked Poppy if the gift card was enough for a haircut. She checked it, and it had $45 and said yes. Also asked if they did curly hair like my she said yes. Candace was nice. I haven't had my hair cut in years. Decided to get it short. She did a nice job on it. I was nervous about it. My mom came to give me a drink because I was nervous. It came out nice. My dad gave her a tip on the job. Went to pay. Poppy said the gift card didn't work. She said there was only 1cent on it. So that upset me a little, and I didn't know there was an extra service charge. My dad gave a bigger tip than the service charge. But my family loves the job she did on my hair. I went to this place exactly one week ago. Got my virgin hair dyed and went home to find out that my hair has been completely fried. I had healthy virgin hair going in with no heat damage at all, I don't use heat on my hair! I wanted to change things up and explore a little bit. There was some red flags but I decided to ignore it. Like how I received no education on how to take care of my hair. My friends had to show me what shampoo to use and had to deep condition my hair for me. Or that the stylist didn't have me do a consultation before starting or she didn't do a test strand to see how my hair bleached. I wanted to go silver gray, which takes multiple sessions and takes time. I understand we have to get to the blondest of the blondes before going gray. However, my tips were just so dry and crunchy that I there's no way it could continue to be bleached anymore. The new place I went too said we have to cut it off. The stylist quoted me $240 while I was in the chair, but the cashier charged me $295. I still tipped the stylist $45 dollars because I'm a nice person and but everyone told me that I shouldn't have tipped at all. I hate writing bad reviews but even the new stylist that I'm going to get my hair fixed said it's the worst correction she has ever needed to do. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Jax and confirmed my appointment the week of. My appointment which was on a Saturday, was cancelled the morning of. I understand emergencies happen, so I decided to give him another chance and reschedule for another Saturday, 3 weeks later! I again confirmed the appointment the week of and then AGAIN the Saturday of my appointment I get a call that Jax did not come in and I would have to reschedule or choose a different stylist. I decided to go with a different stylist, but couldn't get in until later in the day (again running my plans for my Saturday!!) This was an extremely frustrating process to get a hair cut. To make matters worse, I emailed the general manager Samantha on May 8th about my experience and have YET to hear back from her!! I'm writing this review on May 22nd! A simple apology could have made a huge difference, but it is CLEAR that the staff and Management at ZAZU Naperville do not care about their customers' time and experience. read more

I was on the verge of tears after giving the Wheaton location three chances to get my hair right. Then I called the Naperville location and spoke with Sam. She sincerely apologized and took me in within two hours to correct my hair. She also gave me a complementary deep conditioning treatment and sent me home with product. I can't believe I didn't mention this in my first review, but Zazu is also a great option for getting your eyebrows done! I'm blanking on her name, but the esthetician here is fabulous. I religiously make appointments to clean up my eyebrows and she does a great job. She waxes, plucks, shapes, trims, and you're done! I'm in and out in literally 10 minutes and my brows always look great. I appreciate that Zazu has a seperate room for waxing (even if you're just doing eyebrows). It's private, comfortable, and even a calming atmosphere. They have nice soothing music playing almost like you're going in for a massage! The products used on my brows work wonders too. Whatever she uses takes away all the redness and makes my skin smooth. I love this because I can actually go back out in public without lookin' like a red eyed freak! At only $20 for an excellent brow service, I will for sure keep coming back to Zazu. read more

I've had my hair done by Jax three times now and I have finally found my stylist! I had black hair dye (some of it box from dying grays, woops) and he was able to bring me SO much lighter even after one session. I'm trying to go blonde and I've never trusted a stylist as much as I trust Jax to get me there safely. Many other stylists have not been able to take me lighter and I would leave the salon feeling like I overpaid for a tiny change. After just one trip to Jax I was wowed and felt confident he could get my hair where I wanted it to go. He does amazing color, cuts and blowouts and I literally won't go to anyone else! I'm writing this at the gym. Getting angrier and angrier looking at myself in the mirror. My pictures attached tell the story about my experience at this salon. I had virgin colored hair. Simple ash brown / blonde. I asked for a DARK chocolate brown gloss. Something that didn't have full commitment because I was so scared to dye my hair again. Silly me, my mistake for giving this a shot. I sent him SEVERAL pictures of what I wanted. He responses & acknowledged he got what I was looking for. This wasn't a hard color. From the pictures, you can see now I am RED! I went back the same night for him to put more color on top so it wasn't red. But now it's SLOWLY fading (which someone told me won't fade as fast as he made it seem) and now my only choices are to live with red or keep paying out of my pocket to cover the red? It will have to come out eventually. I HATE IT. I honestly don't understand HOW we got RED?! Look at all the pictures I sent him. NO RED! I even said that in the chair. ALSO, you can see purple as I'm sitting in the chair! Is that not a red flag?! For the record, I've been dark chocolates brown MANY TIMES OVER THE YEARS WITHOUT A HINT OF RED. I want my money back and also pay for toners until this goes away. Until then, don't trust this salon. They will turn you the exact color you DONT want. Zazú Naperville was overall a good experience although I left rather upset. When I sat down in the chair I told my stylist that I wanted a PARTIAL balayage. NOT a full. We discussed color and my stylist even repeated back to me that we agreed on a PARTIAL. The outcome turned out nice and I was pleased with the color although when I looked at my emailed receipt, I noticed that the salon charged me with a FULL. Looking back I recognized I was charged an extra $100. Anyone who's gotten their hair dyed knows that it isn't cheap. I'm a working teenager and spent my hard earned money. Remembers many repeat customers to include myself, always friendly, accommodating an asset to the organization. Kathleen what can I say. A Superb stylist, hands down outstanding. Keeping it simple as she's the best...period. When Kathleen was out Chloe took over and was OUTSTANDING. I feel lucky I've two stylist to choose from. I really like the salon because of the conveniece and services offered. My favorite stylist right now is Brynn, who not only does a great job cutting the hair, she also did a great foiling job for me. Everyone I've met is just wonderful and does their very best to make the customer experience the best it can be. It's a lovely, quaint location, with enough space to not feel crowded. They carry goldwell hair products as well as other brands and styling gear (brushes, flat irons, etc.) I had come here ages ago when I needed a style and makeup for my wedding, and although I was not too pleased with them at that time, my new, more recent experiences have more than made up for it. read more

After coming to this salon for 7 years, I received an awful haircut and color. With that being said, I am more angry about the service, or lack thereof, that I received after the fact. I got the color before Christmas and waited to call until the holidays passed. I spoke to the receptionist, Jamie, who (with an attitude) told me that he would speak to management and get back to me to let me know if it was even possible for them to "help" me after the horrific color/ cut I had. He never even got back to me! My color is simple. I have dirty blonde hair and usually get a partial foil. The color was about 2 inches from my scalp meaning it is impossible to pull my hair back without looking ridiculous. The beginning color of each foiled piece is ridiculously brassy and just horrible. I have received better color at Colorific. For nearly $200 after tip, I would expect better customer service. I have never complained before. To be treated with an attitude and not even given the common courtesy of a callback after I was told I would get one is unacceptable. I will be taking my business elsewhere and no longer recommending anyone to this salon. The joke is on them anyway because I am disputing the charges with my credit card and will have the money returned to me. A little customer service would have gone a long way. read more

LOVE this salon! Molly always takes such great care of me, whether I am touching up my highlights or chopping off lots of my thick hair. Last time I went, I was there for a pretty big chop. Molly helped me visualize how it would look, and she made me feel really comfortable with going through with my chop. It turned out great, I truly couldn't be happier. Just a quick update to let you know there seems to have been a weird shift in management since my last review, and I feel the salon has suffered as a result. There have been a few price increases some of their hair services, which isn't too much of an issue. Industry increases are standard, but service in general has changed quite a bit in my opinion. There's been a high turnover in stylists, I hardly recognize anyone any more. And the stylists who are still there seem a little less seasoned and they also seem to have been directed to do a lot more up-selling than I've experienced at Zazu in the past. While I appreciate being made aware of the latest products and services and techniques, when it seems every other minute the conversation is directed into an up-sell, it makes what should be a relaxing ritual extremely awkward and uncomfortable. read more

I want to really like this salon. It's easy to find, the environment is great, and the customer service is always spot on BUT it's a bit pricey. I've never had to wait, and the front desk staff is missing that whole snobby salon bit. I've had a few different stylists, and I'm still looking for the right one, but I get okay haircuts, and I'm pleased so far. The waxing services are a bit pricey, and I'd rather go to Aloha Waxing for that. :) Edit: After this review, I went back one last time with a different stylist at a higher price tier to try to get a haircut that I really liked and find a stylist that fit with me. Unfortunately, it was another failure. My bangs were way longer on one side, and I specifically said that I don't like curls or waves in my hair, and she used a hairdryer to "straighten" my hair, and it was curled under. Not a big deal, but if you're going to pay $40+ for a haircut, the least they could is listen to you. I had to go home and straighten my own hair and fix my own bangs. A ton of my friends have been going to Molly for their hair and I've only heard great things, so I thought I'd give it a try! I've very particular about how I like my hair colored, so I always get nervous about going to a new salon/stylist. Molly was super easy to talk with and really receptive to the pictures and description I gave her. She walked me through everything she was going to do. The service was amazing and extremely fast for what I had done. Molly styled my hair beautifully and the color lasted for so long. I even got a complimentary eyebrow waxing! The receptionist asked me a few questions about my price point and style and decided that Michele would be my best fit. Michele gave a great consultation to figure out what I was looking for. This is so important to me because my wavy hair doesn't always "behave." I asked a lot of questions about the cut/styling/styling products etc. And she happily answered all of them.
