Corvette was professional, personable, and most definitely paid attention to every single detail. I will absolutely be back. Called the salon about a specific product line and they said they carried it. I told the woman on the line I was on my way. Within 10 minutes I was in the salon browsing products. I was there for at least 10 minutes and the entire time I was there, I picked up and read the back of every product from the line. Not one employee greeted me or acknowledged my presence the entire time I was there. There were many woman (clients and employees) that saw me and not one person asked to help me or even so much as say hello. I managed a successful salon for 24 years and I know what it's like to run a business. Even if you're busy, you can say hello and that you'll be along as soon as possible. Made an appointment at the salon after reading positive reviews on yelp. I have been trimming my own hair for 2 years since I've moved here because I have not found anyone to cut it without using a crazy amount of heat. My hair is natural and I don't put heat on it. When I called to schedule an appointment the woman who answered the phone was very friendly and helpful when I asked what service would be best suited for me. My appointment was with Da'maire. I got my hair shampooed, conditioned, dried & trim. Afterwards I asked for my hair to be braided for work, as I have to wear it up. Da'maire was professional & very fast. Ale is amazing! I can't say enough good things about her and her talent. She explained what she was doing as she was doing it so I can replicate it at home. The color she used complements my skin tone so perfectly. I just absolutely love how it all came out and my hair feels so healthy. For reference I have a mix of 3b and 2b curls that tend to frizz easily. As for the salon, it was curl central. I saw a woman with wavy hair, and there were several black women with natural coily hair in the salon. If you have any type of curly hair, they know how to do it. Amazing salon and stylist! I naturally have wavy hair but never really embraced it. I decided to get a diva hair cut with Michelle and had an awesome experience. Usually past stylists totally ignored my wavy hair pattern and end up blow drying my hair straight at the end. Mrs. Michelle did the opposite and totally enhanced my curls. She put layers in and took a lot of weight off of my hair. It's naturally heavy but she made it so much lighter. She walked me through the steps on how to take care of my hair and the products she recommended. I left the salon loving my wavy hair and was able to buy the microfiber towel I've always wanted. It's so much healthier for your hair versus regular cotton towels. Diva cuts are pricey but honestly it's rare to find diva specialists in our area. If you go to any diva cut specialized salons, the price would be even higher than Versus. Overall I'd highly recommend Versus for all types of hair. The stylist helped me love my hair! read more

Alaina was a nice girl but she has no business cutting white curly hair. She cut the bottom and shaped it. It was fine. We washed and I assumed she'd address the top later. She washed me (without ever once agitating my scalp in any way) and put me under the dryer with absolutely no root clips at all. Leaving me COMPLETELY wet. No towel of any sort was used to remove some of the water from the wash and conditioning. In fact, she added MORE. I dripped heavily the whole time under the dryer and was still sopping when she diffused. Then I mentioned how flat my hair was (knowing the layers needed to be added to the top and my bangs cut) and possibly she should've clipped my roots for lift. She responded that she was trying to "save time" but retorted with "I gotchu". She then added some spray and BRUSHED OUT ALL MY CURLS WITH A PICK??? all this was with me facing away from the mirror. When I finally looked I had flat, straight roots and a round bottom. I came in with a huge head of curly hair and i left half straight with almost no cut. I was humiliated and just left. I gave her a tip because I was astounded this child felt confident about this cut. I won't be back and I will NOT suggest my white curly friends go to versus. There was a time when you had professionals who could handle our hair as well. Well, not anymore. I am very embarrassed I spent 150 for this. The service I requested trying to book every detail or service separate was a pain. Then to be treated like an idiot by staff as if I didn't comprehend tip calculations was an eye rolling moment. Meanwhile, I can't speak about all of the stylists. However, I know the one I had and second time requested, could use more experience cutting and coloring. I know many factors can be taken into consideration. However, I went to another salon and I got the rinse on top of whatever color I received. My other services added on during my appointment, were not a problem. As sometimes it takes one a moment to zoom in and focus after a busy day on what they want done. However, it was not a problem to request a haircut with the new color and flat iron it after all services requested were done. Sometimes it's not about the price of services but working with various personalities and people to get the best product and quality of service. The vibe and environment was chill. I heard a variety of new music. The vibe of some of the staff is horrible and they can make you feel like a bother and then you're paying for part of a service that wasn't even worth it. However, I completely understand that's how business works and once some things are done, they can't be undone. read more

My stylist (Jasmine W.) showed up an hour late. the first time she applied color to my hair, it didn't change my hair at all and then she made me feel like it was my fault that it didn't develop. So she applied more color to my hair and this time, it came out way too dark and looks nothing like what I asked for. She was sloppy. There was hair dye inside my mask and in my ears. I got charged $45 for a wash and blowdry, but here's the thing.... she left so much product in my hair and half ass blow dried it at the end too. I was also charged for a restoration therapy treatment I didn't ask for. She didn't explain anything that she was doing. I went home and immediately took a shower because my hair and face were still covered in hair products and hair dye. I am extremely upset and disappointed with my experience at this salon. I deserve a refund. What I experienced yesterday was not at all worth $200. read more

I went in to get highlights done and it took the lady 4 hours to foil my hair. By that time my hair was already fried but then she put me under the dryer for another 30 minutes! I came back to Versus a year after my second Devacut to get Pintura Highlights with Shells. She's so sweet and personable, and made me feel confident going into a major hair change. Looking at my hair, she recommended a cut so that my ends would look healthy after the color treatment so we started with a trim. She was able to help re-shape my hair and keep the length, all while making the curls look healthy again. She started lightening my hair in a free style painting fashion, toned my hair, and then followed up with a Bond 8 treatment. The color didn't completely take the first time which added a good amount of time to the appointment, but I really appreciate Shells perfecting the color to get it exactly as I wanted it. I appreciate that! After the second attempt, we got the color right and she rinsed my hair with no poo and used Ouidad products to style. She provided a lot of helpful tips for caring for my color treated hair and overall curly styling tips. Thanks Shells for helping me bring in my birthday and summer right! She was also upfront about the cost of everything before we started which is something I know a lot of customers appreciate beforehand. I can't wait to go back to keep up with my hair! read more

I go out of town to New Jersey to get a rezo cut whenever I need it. I decided to try somewhere in VA. I scheduled a consultation (because that's what they require you to do before you can get it cut) for yesterday with Shells from 12:15-12:30. I filled out a form and sat there until 12:25. No one said anything to me. Never mentioned that someone would be right with me. I got up and requested to reschedule. Then decided if I have to go through all of this for a consultation it really isn't worth it. Don't have people schedule times when they will be ignored. I'll stick with going to the originators. read more

I was recently here to get my first ever Devacut by Shells. I was super nervous due to researching devacuts and reading how much people had bad experiences in general from either losing too much length or their curls looking worse than before. Shells put my mind at ease instantly. She has such an upbeat personality & talkative which I love because I'm awkward with holding conversations . The cut was very thorough and she started getting excited because she could see already how it was going to come out which made me excited! During the wash she informed me of the products she was using & different methods to use for achieving volume & diffusing which was very helpful. I LOVED how my curls came out. I AM DISAPPOINTED. I rarely get my hair done professionally, but my 21st birthday was coming up so I thought I would treat myself. After extensive research I thought this salon was the one to get the job done... I went in for a consultation and booked my appointment (a whole month away) I waited about 3 weeks & was SO EXCITED, being that I never get my hair done and it had never been colored before. They sent me a confirmation text two days before my appointment that I replied to. THE DAY OF MY APPOINTMENT the hairstylist gave me a call confirming that I was coming and she seemed confuses on what I wanted even though we thoroughly discussed it at my consultation, she also told me I could come in early (GREAT.. so I thought), AN HOUR LATER they called me to tell me that the hairstylist was "accidentally" overbooked and that my appointment would have to be rescheduled. They told me that I would receive a "discount" for the inconvenience. I ended up getting my hair colored elsewhere, but still wanted to receive my promised discount! Therefore, I rescheduled an appointment for a silk press. I feel like he was in a rush, he didn't take his time at all. When he saw the gel that he left on my edges from not washing it thoroughly he laughed and asked what it was, and proceeded to just wipe it off. They only gave me $10 off and my total came up to $75. I tipped him $10 because it was right thing to do. My roots are still curly and I know it not because of the humidity or sweat because I walked out of the shop like that. (see pic below) read more
