The rooftop bar is nice and warm, even when the night is cool. The service is prompt and the servers are kind. There is ample table space and seating without being too crowded. That's the most I can say, though. The patio was full of loud Top100 music that didn't really match the vibe and made it hard to have conversations. The food was lackluster. Did I just pay $30 for Chili's pasta? There's such an opportunity for this place to be better. They have a good location and ample space. Hopefully the quality can increase.

We were in town for a long weekend, while we had some great meals in Carmel, this was the only spot where we made reservations prior to the trip. I will tell you, it was well worth it. Great food, exceptional service, and an overall lovely dining experience The restaurant itself looks both cozy and inviting from the outside. As far as typical restaurants for the area, this one felt slightly more spacious. This is an Italian restaurant, and the decor/ambiance definitely reflects that We arrived early and didn't have to wait long for them to get our table ready. Our server was incredible. She was kind, professional, efficient, and an altogether joy. She was there when we needed her, but didn't hover The menu offers most all of the classic Italian entrees, appetizers, and desserts. They also have plenty of wine, beer, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drink options. Everything looked and sounded amazing. I am a self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur, and their pizza was delicious. I had their sausage and peppers pizza, and I was pleasantly surprised that they used sweet peppers which made for a semi-sweet and savory experience. Everything was tasty, and it was a nice way to unwind after a day of walking and sightseeing Some tips: I would recommend making a reservation. This place is popular, and there were often people waiting towards the entrance for their tables. There's plenty of tables, they are just in high demand. There's also a fully stocked bar and area where you can enjoy some libation pre-meal or while you wait Parking is somewhat limited in this small coastal town, and you will most likely have to park down the street somewhere from Vesuvio, but the stroll will be scenic, and if you're staying nearby I would just recommend walking to the restaurant from your lodging Cheers!!

I dined in on a Thursday night on the rooftop! There were heat lamps and fire pits for warmth, along with some cozy lighting and their own bar. There was also indoor seating on the first level with its own bar. You do not need reservations for the rooftop. We came in for light apps, drinks, and dessert. Eddie was our waiter and while he was very busy, he made sure to check in and make sure we were taken care of. The Three Tenors drink and the pistachio cannoli was a stand out for me. We tried: Arancini: I really enjoyed this. Crispy, tasty, and lots of flavor. Meatball lollipops: This was tasty, and good. It tasted like meatballs with marinara sauce. Pistachio Cannoli: This was so good. I wish it had just a bit more chocolate sauce. It had a nice balance of sweetness without being overpowering. Creme Brulee: This was good. I don't remember much about it being special. Vesuvio Sour The Three Tenors: my absolute favorite drink of the night. I wanted an espresso martini but also wanted to be able to sleep that night haha. This was a delicious and rememberable compromise.

Grabbed a last minute Margarita Pizza to go, then decided to stay and enjoy it next to this lovely fire. Unplanned, last minute, and the food was super delicious . Service by Daniela was super attentive and professional. Will definitely come back. Thank you Vesuvio!

Vesuvio is a super nice restaurant with a nice ambiance. The tables are kinda packed inside so a bit hard to move around. To start we got the garlic bread and it was pretty good, really crispy. All the pastas were very saucy and not dry. Love that they had vegetarian options and were able to make items veg too. The ravioli was good and a bit sweet. We got asparagus as a side and it had breadcrumbs on top. Service was also great here.

The waitress said she didn't have enough servers to serve us and send us away. A couple other people walked in behind us and were sat immediately. Will never come back.

1 of 2 Yelp Reviews. Quality/Quantity - The employees of The Tap Room in Pebble Beach (see other review) recommended this happy hour. Today we got the following: HH Mussels and Clams - Good, but HH price and HH quantity. Not enough, even for light eaters. Approximately 6 small mussels and clams of each. HH Steakhouse Burger - 12 oz patty, smaller after cooked, lol. Decent fries and flavor. My wife was surprised and happy that they "split plates" for us (see below service), until she found out about the undisclosed additional cost. No one asked for a split plate and we did not need that... $3 extra. Of course, a local IPA to wash everything down. Atmosphere - Nice rooftop atmosphere. Plenty of fire pits, fire places, heat lamps, etc. Fairly busy happy hour crowd. Plenty of 2-3 hours street parking. Open 7 days a week from 4pm to 10pm or 11pm; Yelp's hours differ slightly. Service - Hit and miss until the very end where they failed. Does not seem like they have designated people for each table?!?! We had like 4-5 different people help us? Well, we had to ask 4-5 different people for service. Another business that charged us a different price than the stated menu price. First the (new) waitress that gave us the bill said that the owner changed the Steakhouse burger from $20 to $23 and that she will NOT honor the menu price. Then she came back and said the extra $3 was due to a split plate (that no one asked for). She also charged us an extra $4 for 4 small slices of bread, which was not disclosed either. Price - $51; another experience ruined with pricing discrepancies. Happening more and more often... Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2010 and with all your other 4 businesses, bakeries, restaurants, bars, etc.

While visiting Carmel we came across this delicious restaurant. I love me some authentic Italian food. So any chance I have to try a new restaurant I'll take it. And sure enough this mom and pop Italian restaurant hit the spot. Every dish was delicious the service was amazing. They had a wide variety of wines to choose from. A sophisticated ambiance with classical music playing made the experience even better. Our night was definitely completed to perfection and will love to go back if I'm ever in Carmel again.

I'd give Vesuvio a 4.5 overall - the dining room is nicely themed of Italy and we loved the beautiful fireplace ambiance. Our waiter was a pleasure, friendly, informative and attentive. We loved the artichoke croquettes and seafood risotto. The bolognese wasn't the most flavorful I've had but the quality of meat was excellent. The menu is different at Vesuvio versus their sister place Napoli, which we also love. I recommend both!

I've been here once & it succeeded my expectations. The food is DELICIOUS! Drinks are great & the ambiance is perfect. Perfect spot to hang out with friends. I highly recommend going to the rooftop area at night. Great customer service as well!

Still the best bet for great food, incredible atmosphere (roof deck in particular), and wonderful service. Do not pass up Vesuvios when you're in Carmel!

Pepe's Signature Cream Pie with fresh strawberries

A friend and I had a fantastic dinner experience at Vesuvio in Carmel-by-the-Sea. We started with the wonderful Peach "Caprese," featuring Frog Hollow Farm organic peaches, stracciatella and basil--what a fabulous medley of super fresh seasonal flavors! We also enjoyed the Strawberry + Gorgonzola Salad with arugula, candied walnuts, red onion and strawberry shrub, another terrific combination of ingredients. Of course, we had to try the 100-year-old family recipe Garlic Bread, which was light, crunchy and absolutely delicious. For our entrée, we shared the scrumptious Pink Vodka "Jackie-O," with rigatoni, creamy vodka tomato sauce, pancetta, Calabrian chili and sweet peas. We finished our meal with Pepe's Signature Cream Pie, featuring fresh strawberries and Bavarian cream--the perfect ending to a wonderful dinner. Everything was generously portioned and easy to share and enjoy. What I appreciated were all of the unique and amazingly tasty dishes I've not seen at other restaurants. Our server, Sergio, was incredibly nice, attentive and helpful, and the front desk and other staff members were friendly and professional as well. We also loved the restaurant's lively ambiance, with its great collection of pictures and posters, along with all of the fun ways to take a little bit of Vesuvio home, including Limoncello, liqueurs, Pepe jelly, coffee and more. Best of all, Vesuvio stays open late, making it an especially convenient choice for dinner in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Great food, wonderful service and a fun atmosphere--we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Highly recommended!

I can't complain but it did remind me the of the frozen sea bass from Costco. The Osso buco was good too, a braised lamb shank, veggies, red wine sauce, mashed potatoes, and sautéed spinach. But he mentioned that if I ordered their promotional deal (in this case, their Korean-style loco moco), it would come with a flight of their 4 core beers. He had me sold as soon as he said 'loco moco'. Everything came out on-time, and served at the right temperature as appropriate. 4 beer flight (included with loco moco plate) - flagship Monterey Beer (American Light Lager, brewed at their Salinas plant); Pilsner (German-style Pilsner, also brewed at their Salinas plant); Mai Tai (American IPA, Salinas); Howzit Punch (fruited sour, modeled after Hawaiian POG). All of the beers were really good. with the Howzit being the most liked, not only on principle (we really love Hawaii) but also on taste. Korean-Style Loco Moco ($25) - when told that the white rice on a traditional loco moco was being replaced by kimchi fried rice, my original reaction was 'Dang...why didn't I think of that'. It was a beautiful looking dish, for sure. In terms of taste, just OK. The rice wasn't great, and the hamburger patty was OK (a bit dry). But the over-easy egg added a nice level of richness and the gravy fit the dish. The strips of gim (seaweed sheets) was a great touch and appreciated. Roasted Drunken Half Chicken ($33) - another great looking dish: a cut up half chicken with a ton of crisping done on the skin. It came with two dipping sauces (a bbq and a butter based), along with pickled vegetables on the side, and a jalapeno biscuit. My wife loved the biscuit and didn't need the extra butter. The chicken looked dry though, and she confirmed it. The dark meat was OK, but the white meat was very dry, confirming that one needs to use the bbq sauce and the pickled vegetables to counteract that. Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich ($20) - my mother-in-law loved this, and she proved it by eating it all (though it could have something to do with all the walking we did in the morning). I enjoyed the fresh cole slaw (tart with a nice mix of vegetables). And all of us really enjoyed the fries...again proving that food service frozen fries can be marvelous if deep fried (and served) properly. My wife and I both agreed that the Mai Tai PA and Howzit Punch were really good and worth bringing back home so got a 4-pack of each ($16 each). Haven't had a chance to try it at home yet, but will do so when wanting to remember our trip.

Great restaurant and brewery in the heart of Carmel! Really glad we stumbled upon this place while…read morewalking around Carmel. They have such a wide beer selection that I wanted to try them all! Did a flight of 6 beers and they were all so unique and tasty! Also ordered the calamari and it was probably one of the best calamari's I've had. Crispy, great seasoning, and the kale chips was a nice touch! We also ordered the burger which came with fries. The burger was very basic and didn't really stand out. Everything about the burger was very plain. Would definitely come back to try some more beers!
