Called Koolau Animal Hospital and they were able to take us in! The staff was professional and comforting to our fur baby, very impressed with the care and support! Thanks Whitney & Tasha?? Dr. Asato is trustworthy and honest with her diagnosis of the dog's condition. She doesn't push or pressure you in to anything that's not necessary. Not sure what it was like before but, her honesty and compassion is enough for me to trust her words & actions. The practice is very mom & pop, so if that's your style then this would be the place for you. Sometimes those bigger shinier practices seem better, but would they make the space and time for you when you need it?? As a follow up.. our dog is doing fine from following the instructions and medication that Dr. Asato prescribed for us. Thank you Koolau Animal Hospital!

Ali'i animal is not our regular vet but we have used them for daycare and boarding services. Today we went to Ali'i to have my pet ears examined and a hot spot wound re-checked. While we went specifically for these two issues the vet lectured me on my raw dog feeding as my dog eats raw and has been on raw for the last nine years with no issues. I will not feed kibbles. And maybe once in a great while I'll get him home cooked food. But my visit was not based on his food. My concerns were his ear and wound. They were kind and patient with the kitty. They found her owner, and set me up with the contact information for the previous adoption agency the kitty was from. Long story short, she was rehomed WITH ME And they are now my Veterinaries! I've been back once since, and they are SO KNOWLEDGEABLE. Gave me great advice on foods and treats for my kitty and answered all my questions! There is a waiting area with a few chairs. Their rooms are very clean and spacious. And their staff adores pets. No meanies here. 10/10 recommend!

Joey was in and out of this hospital through some very serious moments. He had to be induced many times, undergo emergency procedures, and face situations where I truly didn't know if I would get more time with him. And every single time, this team showed up--with skill, urgency, and unwavering dedication. They didn't just treat him... they gave him more life. Because of them, Joey lived to 15 years and 2 months--time I know I wouldn't have had otherwise. That is something I can never repay. But what truly sets this hospital apart is their compassion. Every doctor, every technician, every staff member treated Joey like he was their own. And they treated me with such kindness and patience through every high and every devastating low. When it came time to say goodbye, they handled his final moments with a level of grace and humanity that I will never forget. There was no rush, no clinical coldness--only quiet compassion. They made space for love, for dignity, and for a peaceful goodbye. In the middle of the hardest moment of my life, they created something that felt gentle... and even beautiful. Joey wasn't just a patient there. He was known, he was loved, and he was fought for. And I will be forever grateful to this team for giving me the gift of more time with my boy--and for helping me say goodbye to him in the most compassionate way possible. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart

I brought my precious 18.5 year old boy here to assess whether we should continue to medicate him or help him cross the rainbow bridge. I decided for the latter and that isn't what made this such a terrible experience. I regret each moment after I made that decision. When you arrive at this clinic, they take your dog from you and examine them while you wait in the car. So they had already taken him from me. The vet came out to have the conversation with me about options, and when I made my decision they told me I could wait in the car or the reception area. I chose the reception area, not really thinking much about it because I was grieving. Within moments, the receptionist started giving me papers to sign and options for cremation and I heard my baby boy screaming bloody murder in the room next to the reception area. I was in a panic, but in freeze mode, crying while the receptionist just stared at me. I had no idea they were going to needle and sedate him before I even got to see him again! After what felt like an eternity of hearing him scream, they brought me into the room and he was completely in shock and already half way gone. I picked him up and she didn't even give me a chance to talk to him or say anything she just stated explaining what she was injecting into his IV. He was dead within mere minutes of me stepping into the room. Then of course they told me to take all the time I needed. I was so traumatized I walked out and left his blanket, his bed, his collar. To be fair, I called the clinic a week later and left a message saying I wanted to speak with the clinic manager about a recent experience. No one ever called me back. They never even called to see if I wanted his things back. And they charged me over $400 for this traumatic experience. Don't get me wrong, losing a dog is never easy. But when I've done home euthanasia before, it's so much more peaceful and compassionate. This. Was. Awful. My sweet boy did not deserve to die that way after 18 faithful years. I will never, ever forget his screams. Never. Look elsewhere for pet care. This place doesn't deserve your money.

It was months after the first contact with them that we had to let him go. They followed up in the meantime asking if we needed anything, offering support and literature to help us with our decision and timing of it. We had more than enough time to say our goodbyes, she asked us about Otis and his story of how we got him. Dr. Naum was so gentle and kind with him and us and gave us plenty of time with him after. We were out of town for a few weeks after, had his remains returned promptly to us after we returned. A very lovely sympathy note just arrived a few days ago. The paw print was beautiful and they included a clipping of his fur. It made the terrible decision to let him go a little more bearable. Highly suggest their services. I heard about Arms of Aloha in passing as others recommended them on various Facebook dog groups that I'm a part of. When my dog was diagnosed with cancer, one thing that popped into my mind was that, if possible, I'd like to let her cross over at home, where she was more comfortable. This thought was even stronger after having visited the vet so many times in the last weeks of her life. I had read up on the literature available on the Arm's of Aloha website (where you can also get an estimate) as well as preregistered. You can also look at their appointments available. They advise on making an appointment at least 1-2 days in advance, especially on the weekends. The hard part is knowing ahead what day that will be. My dog took a turn for the worst one day and I went back and forth on scheduling the only/last appointment available for the next day (appts can be seen/booked online). No one wants to make that call (decision), but it's also painful to watch your beloved friend suffer. They do have a thorough cancellation policy you can read online and I decided I'd book the last appointment to secure it and I could always cancel/reschedule more than 8 hours out. In the confirmation email, there is a link to a video to watch of the Doctor describing the process so you're familiar - I'd recommend this if it is your first time through this. I guess because it was already the next day, they called me shortly after to confirm my appointment. I could barely get the words out the confirm but I never felt judged by the person on the phone. The morning of the appointment, I received an invoice in my email. They suggest taking care of it ahead of time as doing it in the moment with so many emotion is harder. I appreciated this detail and was able to get it out of the way. At our scheduled appointment time, Dr. Naun came to our house. She has a calm and peaceful energy to her. She had some further paperwork for me to sign then we started the process. It was peaceful, and of course sad, but Dr. Naun brought comfort to the situation and we're so grateful for a service like this. We chose to have our dog's ashes returned to us and about a week later, we received a beautiful urn and our paw prints. With the service, they have a chaplain who you may access to talk to if you need help. I did not use it but they do also offer at home palliative care.
