I have no words to express the anger that I feel with the care my dog received. As a first-time dog owner, I initially trusted their staff to provide the necessary expertise for my 10-month-old Cane Corso. On April 10th, I brought him in because of unusual eye discharge and lethargy. After an ink test, he was prescribed antibiotics. When his condition did not improve after six days, I returned, only to be told to continue the antibiotics and, of course, charged me again. Following my intuition that something was wrong, I sought a second opinion at another clinic the very next day. They performed a pressure test on his eye and immediately discovered that his eye pressure was dangerously high. Unfortunately, I couldn't find an ophthalmologist in time because it was late Friday afternoon by then. Because Dr. Johnson failed to diagnose the issue or refer us to a veterinary ophthalmologist, the condition progressed until it was too late. Consequently, my baby has now lost his eye. I am deeply hurt that your doctors did not recommend a specialist when the initial treatment failed to show results.

I brought him to see the staff at San Diego, veterinary urgent care, and they took care of him. The staff was very professional and communicated well. They ran the necessary test and helped ease my worries, cleaned the wound, and sent us home with some medicated drops. About a week later he was mostly healed and the chance of infection was down to zero, just like they said it would. I'm very grateful they were able to help us out

There were red flags over the span of multiple months that should have been caught but were disregarded as unrelated issues. They were however, happy to charge me for services that ultimately did not contribute to my pet's health outcome. Again, if youre looking for a place for a young pet this place is adequate enough. If you're looking for a place for an older pet where you expect them to track trends in their patients health then I highly recommend you look elsewhere.

I decided to try Kearny Mesa Veterinary Center and I'm so glad I did. The first person who greeted us was Sara, who was sweet and welcoming. She let us know we could be seen earlier than expected, which immediately helped ease my anxiety. Next, we met Christina, who was funny, kind, and wonderful with Tomasa. She made us feel comfortable and helped make the visit a positive experience. Dr. Marissa Robertson was absolutely fantastic. She took the time to listen to our concerns and carefully reviewed all the different foods we had tried feeding Tomasa. She explained how allergies work in cats in a way that was easy to understand and reassured us that we were doing everything we could as pet parents. For the first time in months, we felt truly heard and left with a clear plan. Best of all, Tomasa has been doing great since her appointment. We're already looking forward to her follow-up visit. Free parking is available, but limited. The clinic is very spacious and clean.

My dog Petrie (Pug, 8 years old) was suddenly vomiting blood and also had it in his stool. I was panicked, because in the 8 years I've had him, I've never seen him sick like that. I rushed him to an emergency vet even though B street is his primary care vet. The emergency vet had us wait for two hours just to hand us a pamphlet of where else we should go (in all fairness I'm sure there was more emergent medical issues going on there that they had to tend to first, and I was going to be on a long list of waits) but B street was at capacity that day and after I told them the issue they squeezed us in. They even gave us a private waiting room where the air conditioning worked better to wait in because my pug is a brachycephalic breed which usually do not do well in hot environments. During the first visit Dr. Olsen was very helpful and comforting to Petrie. She went over all the issues she thought it could be, all while petting my dog and making us feel comfortable. After labs/tests came back she explained everything in detail and very thoroughly about probiotics/antibiotics. Unfortunately I had to bring him back a few days later because his itching got worse (I'd assume unrelated to the first visit, he's just always had allergies) but he had a scratched so much overnight he had a horrible hotspot the next day. They told me I could come in the next day without hesitation and no appointment. The Doctor that saw him that day was Dr. Elena. She was just as professional and compassionate. She gave me tips and tricks on how to treat the itching better, and put him on a few more antibiotics after they shaved and cleaned the hotspot. I received two follow up emails reiterating treatment and what we spoke about in person. Not automated, real person to person emails. I really appreciated that. Petrie is doing much better thanks to these amazing women! Of course along side their brilliant team of techs and receptionists. The whole operation is so dialed in and kind!! Can't sing their praises enough.

They stay pretty busy, and the waiting area is small, so I prefer waiting outside or in my car since it gets crowded inside. The staff themselves were very friendly -- upbeat, bubbly, and kind -- which definitely helps the experience. I was referred here by the rescue, so I came in for two vaccines. Even though the wait was long, everything went smoothly, and I got a call a few hours later to pick up my pup. Overall, a busy walk‑in clinic with friendly staff and straightforward care, but plan ahead for the wait and the drop‑off style.

Dr. Boyd was great at explaining Cako's sty removal, teeth cleaning, and teeth extractions. Unfortunately, she had two cracked teeth that could not be saved. She had to wear a cone, and after a while, just acted like it wasn't there and would knock it into everything...LOL! Great parking, appointments easy to make. The follow up is great too! He prescribed Animax as the ointment to put in her ear twice a day. I was skeptical at first due to her size but i followed the instructions. My dog has since LOST her hearing. When I called to ask him about why he said STOP the medication immediately since this meds can cause temporary hearing loss. Wash the ears with the wash solution I gave you and would start to go away. I told him I was already skeptical at first and stopped the medication even before calling him. 3 weeks later after medication was stopped my dog has not regained her hearing and I find her completely deep asleep at home and she does not hear me when I get home until I touch her. When I asked for others' experience, they mentioned their similar experience and their side effects being hearing loss permanently. When I called the office to complain why he didn't educate me as to the side effects , she mentioned I should have READ the label!!!! Oh I am sorry that I am paying you $700 to get a professional opinion and you can't tell me what the side effects to my dog are so I can make the decision?? mind you they had already put the ointment in my dog's ears before I got the meds! I asked for the money back so I can take her to another vet to see what can be done, she said NO we don't give the money back!! They were so compassionate, professional and attentive to my exotic potato Theodore (and me and my concerns). Dr. Fiona Lair and Amanda her assistant was empathetic and informative throughout the whole day and after my dogs surgeries. I've been called/texted and sent emails with updates, after care etc etc. I knew Theodore was in good hands. After a terrible experience at another vet I was left traumatized; but Sunset Cliffs Animal Hospital had me feeling 100% at ease and comfortable that Theodore was in good hands. From the first visit where they listened, helped us and went over each procedure/charge in detail...to me picking him up after his surgeries, I was so impressed by the professionalism and care they showed us. Vet bills are already expensive (AF) but I'd pay twice as much as I did for the services I received. Theodore will forever receive his care here with Dr. Lair. Thank you everyone at Sunset Cliffs Animal Hospital for taking care of my best friend Theodore, my little exotic potato and I are forever grateful.
