From start to finish, the experience was fantastic. The check-in process was quick and easy, the facility is spotless, and the exam rooms are thoughtfully designed--clean, cozy, and welcoming. I love the little touches that make pets feel comfortable, like peanut butter or cheese spread lick pads and calming music. The staff is amazing--warm, professional, and truly caring. Their hours are super convenient, and the fees are very reasonable for the quality of care you receive. If you need urgent care for your pet, I highly recommend UrgentVet Smithfield/Greenville. The tech was very nice and took him back right away to get him checked out, I have zero issues with her. Once I got in the room they took him in to me and told me the ultrasound machine wasn't working right and they needed to do X-rays instead. Quoted me $1400 for all types of tests. Thankfully, I refused and just did the X-ray. She came back in with him and said "he has a significant amount of fluid in his abdomen and take him to a more equip ER" (that's fine I figured that would happen if it was something super serious) now I am panicking, flying to VEG in Warwick (which is absolutely fantastic). The vet there pulled up the WORKING ultrasound machine and immediately figured out it was too much food in his stomach (thanks to my 6 year old). He then reviewed the X-rays that the other vet had sent over and was baffled that she said it was fluid in the first place. So needless to say. I paid $414 for X-rays that were not needed and two visit fees between the ERs because had UrgentVets ultrasound machine been working properly they would have clearly seen it was FOOD not FLUID. Not to mention the amount of panic I was in thinking it was something extremely serious. I won't be back.

Despite what she preaches against…read moreconventional veterinary care, high quality vets DO combine holistic treatments, such as supplements, massage, physical therapy, acupuncture, reiki, etc, in conjunction with conventional care, such as lab work, diagnostic imaging, necessary medicines and vaccinations, into their veterinary practices. It is NOT a one way holistic street as she would like pet owners to believe. Furthermore, people who combine GOOD QUALITY and PRESCRIPTION dog foods are NOT comparable to people who "leave their dogs tied to a tree", as she proclaims in her online video. In her video she demos how SHE determines, in a bizarre ritual taught to her by her money making idol, the right meds, foods, supplements for your pets by holding the food/med up against the animal while she holds the arm of a surrogate. If she can push the surrogate's arm down while she holds the food/med up against your animal, then the animal cannot tolerate that food/med. Dr. Doolittle is (one) of the reasons why my dog is 100% better. First of all, she's a holistic vet…read more- she won't take blood out of your pup, or do any invasive procedures to check them out. She works on using kinesiology and (in my opinion) intuition. That said, all those methods WORK. She has managed to come up with a plan, food and diet change, to heal my pup from Perianal Fistulae (nasty illness common in GSDs). Now, I pretty much forced her (ok she was cooperative) to team up with a Chinese Herbal Medicine Vet from Connecticut (Dr. Stephanie Torlone) and come up with a plan to help him. This was back in February and both of them did a fab job ! They really got along well and came up with several herbs to work with that would help Albi out. As for personality wise, Dr. Doolittle is a tough cookie. She expects the best out of everything and everyone, so if you can't handle that, you'll be sorely disappointed. However, I love her for this. Price wise - this is expensive, but please note: I am a full time worker and full time student - I barely make ends meet, and when Albi got sick, I had even more trouble. But I KNEW Doolittle could help us out without using harsh immunosuppresants. I also knew based on my research of PFs, that this was the only sure way to get rid of them. Doolittle was worth every penny, still is. Every once in a while, you'll find some things are marked up, but if you do your research right, you can get some supplements/treats/treatments for cheaper elsewhere. However, the price for her services are worth it - she uses every ounce of energy in her to get the right combination of treatments for each patient, and she deserves some compensation for that.

She's been on it about six weeks now. Drove half hour to have her groomed at the Smithfield, R.I. location today only to be told she can't be groomed there while on Prozac. What? So she can never be groomed again? Canceled a membership for both my dog and cat that we have had for years. Absolutely ridiculous! Took her to PetSmart instead. Called ahead. No issue with her being on Prozac. You lost a long time customer PETCO! I understand not being able to bring her in on a sedative but this is a long term medication not a PRN.

I went up to get Kip, and as is Petco's practice, the groomer brings the dog out to you and explains how everything went. The young lady at the cash register is also very cordial. I have left positive reviews about Petco before but I would like to add this ... I arrived to get Kip and I was a little early so I used the time to walk around the store a bit and buy him a new flea and tick collar. I am amazed at how orderly the store is. Customers have a great deal of choice on all products whether it's toys, leashes, collars, food, etc. Staff members are very helpful. This is a great store!!! If you have any pets, make it a habit and go to Petco.

While their clinical visit care for my cat, who had developed presumptive diabetes, was good…read more(although I have no idea what sugar concerns there might have been about the treats they gave him in the clinic and for take-home), he was seen Friday with no particular diagnosis of concern, and was dead on Monday. Tfhere was a hard sell for a $400-500 blood panel to get a "comprehensive baseline", but I demurred to the $150 panel to get the imperative of the blood sugar level. They could have just done a simple blood sugar check with an ear or skin-prick diagnostic instrument, which they must surely have had, and we could have gotten him on insulin immediately. I received their notification of the bloodwork results the following Tuesday, the day after he died, informing me that he had elevated blood sugar and should be treated. This could have been quickly, more economically, and more therapeutically been handled in the intitial visit, and the cat might still be alive, albeit with the required sugar monitoring and insulin therapy (I'd been through that with a cat before - it's a tough decision to make). In any case, beware of a practice that tries to upsell you on lab testing. Unless there is a specific diagnostic goal to achieve, based on the physical exam, it's not likely a good financial decision to pour money into the practice (they make money on the testing) to give them a baseline to have marginal further diagnoses in office visits. Pets (unless you have parrots or tortoises) tend to have regrettably short lives, and an emotional last ditch effort in veterinary care may not be the best for them or you, but possibly could be (think orthopedic care for dogs to allow them to live with hip or leg joint problems - expensive, but possibly a better life quality investment than baseline lab tests with no immediate benefit).

My rottweiler Lars, had injured himself earlier this spring...and we weren't rehabbing him…read morecorrectly ourselves. He reinjured his shoulder and that is what lead us to Healing Paws. Dr. Corey spent a lot of time assessing Lars and talking with me about what was going on. The staff at Healing Paws are friendly, knowledgeable, and Lars loves them. We are on our second week of rehab and they are giving us exercises to rebuild Lars at home and this is what we need. Lars is a performance dog that competes in obedience and agility shows...I truly believe that Healing Paws will get him back into peak condition!
