I used Veteran energy for 2 years it was OK then they sent me a renewal letter but I found many companies with lower kilowatt pricing and a better monthly credit if you used over 1000 kilowatts per month I saved 75.00 per month, I asked if they could match but it was hard no. I do not recommend using them. Terrible service. You call and get an overseas call center. When I signed up they require a deposit. Fine it's ok no problem I'll give it to them. This company gouges you with prices and will send you a disconnect notice even though you aren't anywhere 30 past due. They have horrible customer service since they have been bought out and outsourced. You will get the worst attitudes imaginable when calling to report an issue or problem. IT IS NO LONGER A VETERAN friendly company. In April of 2024, all of my adult children were here visiting for over 3 weeks. My bill was just under $330 at a time when the usage of power should have increased. Then, in May when it was just 3 of us in the house. We had been gone as well on a 2 week on vacation; & my bill jumped to $498. In June, with the same amount of people in the house, my bill was $524. When I called to protest the bills, they continuously kept saying it was overage when no one was here for almost 2 months and only vital things were plugged up. Then Hurricane Beryl hit us in July 2024. Here's the MAJOR problem. My bill was $545 and we were without power for 11 days. When I called to protest, they said I have to wait until CenterPoint Energy gives them the go ahead to lower the bill because they have no way of seeing this. ARE YOU FRIGGIN' KIDDING ME??!!! If I'm paying Veterans Energy for my supposed bill, then why would I need Veterans Energy? The service rep said because CenterPoint energy is also my secondary energy provider and they could answer my questions if I called them. Now, I have to dispute that my power grid was down for 11 days with CenterPoint too? screw that!! I'll be shopping for a provider elsewhere and will never touch this company again. Should be zero stars. *UPDATE* Through much struggle and having this escalated, we were able to have the higher management adjust our final billing to what it should have been. We have updated the stars to 3 for that reason. Otherwise the customer service here still needs better training. Worst energy company in Houston. They will financially rape you on pricing and then charge you extremely high eta fees when you try to leave. They may even try to charge you triple what they say you owe in fees like they did us. Very thankful to get away from these rapists, wish we would have done so sooner. Only thing worse than not supporting Veterans are unscrupulous businesses pretending to support Veterans. NEVER USE VETERAN ENERGY! I am a 100% disabled veteran from wartime service. Was told that 2-year plan would auto renew in order to help me with my cognitive issues. Veteran Energy, aware of my disabilities, still wanted a "confirmation" of my "automatic renewal' (not automatic then) and choose to unilaterally convert the account on month to month in order to price gouge my family. When I called Customer Service, the reps are more concerned with their performance numbers instead of your situation (after every transfer the reception is bad yet Kevin refused to call me back nor give me a direct number because it would "poorly affect his numbers). Speaking with several levels of management, the best they could do was only offer my family ONE (1) month of adjustments even though I detrimentally relied on their promise of automatic renewal which is tantamount of deceptive trade practices act. I negotiated in good faith and even offered to take less adjustments than the full time we were on month-to-month but their position stayed the same. It didn't even change when it didn't make mathematical sense to get one month adjusted for a 12.3-15.7 plan if 10.2 cent plans are also available. They are crooks and are using the "veteran" label to trick people into thinking they are vet friendly. Helping Veterans is the last thing on their mind! Veteran Energy claims to have "raised over $880,064" for Veteran Charities but it is completely misleading. Any contributions to charitable organizations come from overcharging customer plans and getting the tax benefit from customer overpayments. You'd be better off making direct contributions to any orgs and save the tax deduction for yourself. As of 29AUG24, their best rate is 24-months, 12.3 cents but you can very easily find rates for 12 month at 10.2. Put simply, when an opportunity for the Company to directly help a disabled veteran, Veteran Energy refused because it would cost them instead of their customers. Veteran Energy has really shown their true nature: an unscrupulous company preying on patriotic American's goodwill by presenting the appearance of a pro-Veteran company willing to go further than competitors yet they exhibit minimalistic committal to Veteran issues because this would require actual sacrifice, instead of using their's customers. *To anyone that has an issue with them, submit a complaint to your Secretary of State for Deceptive Trade Practice and Better Business Bureau. read more

Not veteran friendly, I needed to renew my energy provider, and this seemed like a good and fair rate per kw, also, it looked to support veterans. So I filled out the online work and was informed it would be a $250 deposit. I did not understand this, I have decent credit, so I called. I asked the representative if there was a way around it, I did tell him that I was a veteran, and could submit my DD214 and my VA paperwork, and was told that no, there was no way around it, but here are other providers that did not require any down payment, obviously with outrageous rates per kw hour. So I wrote to the company and was informed that : The deposit is refundable The deposit is reduced to $150 if you are a veteran If you have 12 months of good history with your recent energy provider, the deposit is waved If you are active duty, the deposit can be waved. NONE of this was offered to me, NONE ! So I went back with TXU , cuz, devil you know. Now I am locked in. However, if their representative is that retired on duty attitude, probably the rest of the staff are too, who wants that. read more

I liked Veteran Energy when it was owned and operated by Veterans. It was personable and they knew your name. Success happens and they were purchased by a bigger group, but kept the name. You could call and speak with someone who understood. The mailings or updates were thankful you were a veteran and more personal touches. When the original company was bought out you were not really informed about it, then your billing date changed to the first of the month. If you were one second of one day after the first of the month you got letters immediately about cancellation notices just because you may have paid your bill previously on the 4th, 5th, of the month etc. I was never overdue on my bills but they sure made it seem like I was a criminal and another number in the system. Recently for renewal they want to charge you a fee for using less energy? Really? On a 1000kw plan: If you used less than 1000kw of energy you got a bill for $9.95 additional fee. Wow. So you might as well quit hitting 850Kw and tell the kids to "leave the lights on" so you can hit 1000kw's and avoid paying an extra $9.95 per month. Once again - I liked it when it was more personable, they did not turn into "cancellation notice" overlords, and the customer service was more welcoming and appreciated the value of you as a customer, veteran, long time subscriber. Their rates are average with others - so the options are up to you. They are no longer a "Veteran" energy company I feel, but a company with "Veteran" in the name and a few donations to charities. read more

I have been with the on a infinite energy before they got bought by veterans energy. Right after my old contract expired they start charging me ridiculous amount. Amount that is 200 to 300 dollars more than I normally pay. When I call to ask no help came my way. I am still trying to find someone who is even willing to investigate. I was with Veteran Energy and their sister company Infinite Energy for several years. Honestly, it was the easiest and therefore best experience I could hope for with an electric provider. You paid what they advertised, and the billing was on time and correct. I switched because the math made sense to. But, I haven't even gotten my first bill from the new company and I'm already willing to pay the higher rates with Veteran/Infinite for the lack of stress their service provided me. read more

I recently moved, continued my services with Veteran Energy and experienced a pretty smooth transition. They even went above and beyond to install my service before my original move date. The representatives are professional and quite knowledgeable allowing for their customers to also learn about power services. Every transaction has been thoroughly explained to me whenever I have had to contact them. I'm optimistic that I will continue to receive quality service. read more

I been with Veteran Energy since about 2011. Someone bought the company about 18 months ago. This is January 2024. Since the new owner, it takes an hour or so just to pay my bill. I used to pay my bill by typing in my phone number and my debit card number. Every month for a year I ask to get my new number in their computer because the hour or more on the phone to pay a bill is discussing. Every since someone new took over, I never liked their service. The post office put my mail late in my mailbox. I had a pink note when I got it. I rushed to pay my bill for January of 2024. 2 days after I went to pay the same amount of my January bill to make February bill. I got an email saying I owe Veteran Energy $240. My lights were never turned off. The $240 and The February light advance i made is like typical new owners way of doing business.I would not recommend Veteran Energy since the new owners. How hell I paid for February in advance and wasn't required? They tell me they paid $300 plus to turn my lights off. They were turned off. I paid the bill immediately after I got the pink notice. As long as you making a payment, they prioritize your call. Questions, you have a long wait. I come out better going back to Reliant. Reliant offered me a better rate, anyway.January 2,2024, I paid rent, light, cellphone service for February in advance. Now Veteran Energy act up with me. I accepted their service because Im a Veteran. Before the new owners, I stood strong behind Veteran Energy. Good thing they are not the only electric provider. I just don't know how a company can charge you nearly $330 because they sent you a pink slip. I'm 59 3/4 years old. I don't care they might throw something in a credit report. read more

WORST customer service ever. I was with Infinite Energy and they bought out Infinite Energy. Unfortunately, I was unaware since I had moved out of the home I had my service at. I called on 11/24 to cancel service with Infinite Energy (which I was still being billed for and there is nothing on my account that mentions "hey by the way you are moving to Veteran") and they cancelled my service without every mentioning that that same day Veterans was also taking over my account. So the communications between the two companies was lacking and the fact that they purchased a company and can't get their communication in line shows very limited organizational skills. Also, the take over plan was pathetic. Really, missed the mark on communication. I can't get over that part. Worst communication plan. Seriously, who sends one letter and that is all? WORST. Anyways, unbeknownst to me, while I was no longer with Infinite and paid my final bill, Veteran was charging me. Luckily the person who purchased my home started up service a week later but Veteran Energy will not waive the $27. I know it is just $27 but the fact that I had no idea they took over my account and I was being charged for energy I was not using shows their lack of customer service. When I called to work with them they would just put me on hold infinitely which would lead to me hanging up. They really do a disservice to the Veteran name. I will never use them and I will make sure to tell all my friends and family looking for energy that they should not be used. And all of this over $27. If they just would have been kind and worked with me, maybe I would have a better review but they are the LITERAL WORST! read more

Veteran Energy is terribly dishonest. My consumption for the month of September was extremely low 107 Kwh (I'm a student & only come home to sleep. I don't cook or watch tv, AC is always off). My bill? $63.3. Yes, $63.63 for 107 kwh! (I have proof) When I contacted them, they said my bill should be about $12 but I had the wrong plan. They "offered" to reduce the bill to $43.63 if I called to switch plans. I got two calls from them and was given two options, pay $150 to switch plans or else pay $60+ every month for a year. Just left Veteran Energy today (at $150 cancellation fee). Please do yourself a favor, stay away! read more

It was a rocky relationship the first couple of months, but it seems as though they have gotten their staff up to par, and their billing sent out on time, time enough to let us pay our bill without a late charge. After three calls, the Customer service rep Glenn was very good at explaining what might have happened. In the end I got satisfaction that the bill was corrected and now we are signed up for another year. PS - The rates are very reasonable also. read more
