Knowing the complexity of my many chronic health conditions and my long medication list, it would be important to me and the staff if I bring my detailed medication list, so I emphasized, many times to make sure my property arrives to my room with me, yet, it was lost for 24 hours hours. During that time, after a complex spinal surgery, I wasn't given my correct medications, or the correct doses at the correct times, which happens frequently when I'm hospitalized, not only at Rex. Once it was found, after I complained to Patients Relations, the head of security came, but for reasons I still don't know. He did a good job explaining how the security process was supposed to work, but he didn't explain how my property got missing. especially, after me emphasizing it's importance to my hospital stay. It was as if he couldn't realize the procedure wasn't relevant. What's relevant is what actually happened and why. His explanation was the most incompetent, unprofessional, and unethical explanation imaginable. His staff members were sleep so he, evidently, didn't think that losing my property was worth waking up his staff members, who knew the details of what happened. So I went to the front and a different lady said wow they never checked you in. So she did and I waited another 5 minutes and then was called back. The medical assistant proceeded to take my blood pressure (no other vitals matter I guess which was a first) and then told me that I needed to wait because there was two people now ahead of me. So by this time it is already 45 minutes past my appointment. I asked how long and they told me they didn't know. So after hour and 15 minutes passed I was over it and requested to speak with the office manager. That was a waste of time. He apologized and said he would look into the situation. After finally the doctor coming in it was some random surgeon who had no clue about my surgery. I was beyond pissed off. She took 5 minutes on my appointment about me and then proceeded to tell me about how she had to be with a sobbing patient and if I was sobbing she would spend more time with me. This place wasted my time. A 5 minute appointment took 2 hours. I would have been better off if they said follow up with your primary care physician because that is exactly what I am about to do. I don't trust the capability or competence of this office. I would have felt better if I spoke to the actual surgeon who performed my procedure not some random surgeon who never touched me. She just looked at the glue over the stenches. Didn't perform a real examination. If I could rate this experience as a zero I would. I wish I could have chosen Wake or Duke surgery instead. Beware!!! If you have an option go to the another hospital. Rex has gone down hill since they switched to UNC healthcare.

I called the office and left a message about how I was feeling and within 5 minutes my phone rang. MY PHONE RANG!@!! It was Dr. Tang, the best MD on the planet. I had an appointment the next day and she tweaked a med and now I am fine. This wasn't the first time she called me over something. Once she called me on her way home from her car and she sat in her garage for 5 minutes until we finished!. Okay, people, when is the last time you had a doctor call you at home?????? WHEN??? I have no idea if she is accepting new patients but if you are looking for a practitioner, ask if there is a waiting list and GET ON IT!!

Unfortunately, the billing department provides poor service. I have twice been charged during a well visit for services that have been previously mentioned in other appointments. When I spoke to the billing department they said that I could not discuss anything that was a new illness during a well check up. I told them that I did not do this and they said that I must have brought up things other than what was allowed during my well checkup. I called Blue Cross and they told me that the office was improperly coding the visit and this should not have occurred. I will not be going to Village Family Care anymore or any Novant affiliated office.

As a new patient, onboarding was straightforward; I answered all the questions online before my appointment, and also did eCheckin through the MyChart 2 days before. On arrival, everyone is screened in the lobby for Covid. At checkin, I gave my eCheckin printout which appeared to make it simpler for the staff member as she only had a few questions to ask after. My appointment started on time. They checked my vitals, then the NP came in and spent about 20 minutes with me. Since I'm pretty healthy (knock on wood) there wasn't too much to discuss. I very much appreciated the lab person who efficiently got my blood drawn. My tiny veins didn't phase her; she got me on her first try!

After a recent move I was in the market for a new provider and not having much luck. I happened to…read moredrive by the office and was blown away by how fast they fit me in. I've had to wait 3-6 months to establish care in the past only to find out that the provider isn't a good fit with my health goals, or retiring. Laura and the office staff were genuinely happy, as well as efficient and welcoming. Having labs on site, an easy to navigate patient portal and televisit capability are all fabulous perks as well. Feel like I finally hit the primary care provider jackpot! I hope I won't ever need anything more than rx refills for BP and HRT, but if I do I am confident they will be able to keep me in my best health.
