Wow -- if I had read the previous review on this site, I might not have used Yellow Cab when I was in GR and needed an incredibly early ride to the airport. Fortunately, I had a great experience. My driver, LeRoy, showed up precisely on time, helped with the luggage, and was a total southern gentleman (though he has migrated north, the manners are still courtly). You DO have to call and confirm when you reserve online, but I think that is more for fraud prevention than anything else, since the phone confirmation only took a minute. Yellow Cab is less expensive than an airport limo ($37 from Comstock Park to GRR), and I'd have given them five stars if they had rock bottom prices, but if they did they would probably lose all the nice drivers. In short, I'm keeping this company in my phone and will use them the next time I'm in GR. read more

I was in a car behind a Yellow Cab minivan just 20 minutes ago. The driver had passengers and was crossing 131 on Franklin. The driver marked his turn signal to turn right and then tried to turn onto the highway the wrong way. He was actually into the entrance from the overpass as a white car exited the highway, and he must have realized his error. He had to back up and go straight. He not only nearly caused an accident correcting his mistake... But was about to go the wrong way down the ramp onto 131. I called dispatch to report it. The dispatcher did sound concerned and said they would take care of it... But she did not ask for my details... Nor did she seem concerned when I said I intended to also list this incident on Yelp. I won't be considering them in the future unfortunately. read more

The driver was very late, drove jerk-y and way too fast! Speedometer didn't work and when my card "declined" (I checked my balances while she ran it again, it was perfectly fine) she said she would drive me to the ATM. Ummm, NO. I was already overcharged for the ride as it was, I was not paying for an additional ride because her square trader declined my card. She has far inconvenienced me. I asked about another form of possible card payment and she told me I wasn't worth it and to get out of her cab. *I have the conversation recorded.* I don't drink, but I also don't drive. I would gladly pay a respectable individual or company to get me home safely and legally. This place was beyond professional or even nice. I've complained about this driver to another dispatcher after I was overcharged and then brought to an ATM to cover the additional charges, while her meter still ran and after she passed my street and drove backward over 100 yards to get to it. Can you give no stars? My husband and I visited GR recently and decided to cab it from a bar to a restaurant. I reserved on line, however you also have to call and confirm. I was told that they usually don't pick up from bars but they would try to get us a cab. Huh???? So much for trying to be responsible and not drink and drive. 40 minutes and 2 more calls later the best they could offer was to " put it out over the air again and see if any one will take the fare." read more

This taxi company has truly terrible service. I mean both the service you pay for and customer service. They seem not to care about the customer and left us stranded after leading us on for an hour. Very disappointed by this cab company. I call for a ride at 11:10pm Sunday night for a ride from north side of Grand Rapids. I call them again an hour later and they are still waiting for someone to pick me up. The dispatch guy doesn't know why they won't come by. I call him at 12:50am and no one is on their way. I end up going home with a friend. Uber is the way to go. That's the last time I call yellow cab. And this isn't the first time I have had bad service from yellow cab. read more

I called two days ahead of time and scheduled a ride to the GRR airport for the start of a 2 week European trip. I admit I did call about an hour ahead of time and move the pickup back 15 mins which seemed to be no big deal as the dispatcher said nothing and thanked me for calling. After waiting 15 minutes after the agreed arrival time I called Yellow Cab in a panic to find out where our car was. The same dispatcher said she was trying to find me a car but had been unsuccessful thus far. She told me to hang up and would call me with a car, she never did. How can a business that sells attention to detail and scheduled pick ups be so clueless. We called Calder taxi in a panic and they too gave us BS about 15 minutes and when we called 20 minutes later they gave us the same another 15 minutes mumbo jumbo. We just moved here from Chicago, are all GR cab companies like Yellow and Calder asleep at the wheel? read more

Beyond pathetic!!! Avoid this company by all means!!!! I know they r completely unreliable, but I had no choice but to use them to get to work one day. I was ten minutes from my destination, (add on another ten minutes for snow), and another 30 minutes to accommodate their infamous reputation of tardiness and piss poor customer service. So I called one day ahead for a cab to get me to my job. I also was hung up on when I tried booking the cab. (1 hr wiggle room for their lateness.) called repeatedly to check on my cab as the time ticked by and no one arrived. And many calls went unanswered. Spent almost the whole wait on hold! NO ONE EVER PICKED UP! I was on hold for 25 minutes straight-still no answer!! After an hour ticked by and I was already late for work someone called and said,"did u need a cab?" Me: "Ugh... Yeah! An hour ago!!!! Are u coming?" Cabbie:"ok about ten more minutes....." Pathetic.... It's now been an hour and 15 minutes and I'm still waiting as I write this review to pass the time.... So after an hour and a half passes, he calls and says he's here! But he's not! Come to find out he has the wrong address and house number!!!!!?? When he does finally show up, (2hrs after my scheduled time), I decide to politely chat about this issue. "I scheduled this cab yesterday, for 7am today. It's been 2hrs, is there a better way for me to get a cab at a particular time, so I'm not late for work like this again?" The cab driver says honestly, "call a different cab company." Ordered a cab the night before to pick me up at 4:50am to go to the airport. I called the dispatcher at 5:00am looking for the cab, she said he was very close and should be there any minute. 5:10am received call from cab saying he would be there in 10 minutes. Cab was 30 minutes late. Wife was not happy as I had to wake her for a ride. Now I know why Uber is doing so well! That's the last time I will use this cab service. read more

I can not belive how disrespectful and rude the operators are! The cab drivers OVERALL are friendly fast and get you to where you need to go that is of courses if the operators booking your cab actually complete the booking process. If I could give a lower rating I would, IF YOU NEED A TAXI DON'T CALL THESE GUYS!!! I called at 6:30am to be to work for 8:00am,they told me they could send someone in about 15:00 min., after about 1 1/2 hours of phone tag they told me they did not have any drivers. I was late for work and felt like I was led along! If you want to play Russian Roulette with taxis call these guys, they might show ,they might not! I have called Yellow Cabs for many years and have never had a bad experience. Today's ride to the airport was the best ever due to the driver being a bit early and driving the fastest route. He Was polite and helpful. The fare reflected his efficiency and so did his tip. Yes, many drivers are somewhat new to the country but I have never been late, never treated with anything but respect and that relieves me of the stress of getting to the airport on time. read more

I called around 2:00 pm to arrange for a cab at 9:00 pm the same day. The rude operator told me to call back 45 minutes before I needed the cab because of the weather (it was snowing constantly the entire day). I called back at 8:15 pm and requested the cab to arrive at 9:00 pm. At 9:25 pm the cab had not arrived so I called the dispatch number and no one picked up. I called again five minutes later and someone answered, said nothing and immediately hung up. I found a way to my destination and received a call from the dispatch number at 10:05 pm, presumably to tell me that my cab arrived. I didn't answer. Suffice it to say, I'll never call Yellow Cab again. read more

Do not you use yellow cab. I lost my Father's Day Cards and tops that I bought in downtown Grand Rapids. The driver refused to call me back and return my property even though I paid him double fair. Second he thought I was new to the city so he tried to make money off taking on false route. Watch out for yellow cab and driver Gary. read more

I do not like giving bad reviews but this place is horrible twice and both times they were extremely late. The first time my wife reserved me a cab to the airport for my business trip and the guy was 20 minutes late. We just thought that it was a one off and decided to use them again since we like supporting local businesses. So we reserved a taxi with them for 8:00 AM going to the airport. Surprise surprise at 8:05 we started to wonder where our taxi was. At 8:10 we called them and we were told by an extremely annoyed lady that the cab will be 15 min late (it would have been nice that someone called us to tell us that). 8:15 comes still no cab...at 8:20 we receive a call from the driver to inform us that he will be yet another 15 min late. At that point we could not wait any longer or risk missing our flight so we ended up driving ourselves and paying over $100 for the long term parking. Will never use this place again! read more

In a word......TERRIBLE!! On the day before I left, I made a reservation over the phone to be picked up from home to go to the airport (and even confirmed before I went to bed). Pickup time came and went with no taxi or call from the service. When I called, I was told that they were working on getting someone to my location. So in order to NOT MISS MY FLIGHT, I had to drive myself to airport and pay for long term parking for a week (which was a cost that I was suppose to be avoiding by getting a taxi). On top of that, when I called, there was no apology for being late or potentially causing me to miss my flight. He honestly sounded like he couldn't care less. Terrible customer service from an unprofessional company that's utter garbage. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. read more

I ordered a cab online, 2 hours early like it says to do. I had a doctor's appointment to be to, so I ordered it a little early just in case they were late. I called and confirmed my reservation, was told that yes, everything was on schedule. They were supposed to pick me up at 3:25. At 3:35, I called and asked if they had an ETA. She said she was getting someone over immediately. At 3:48 (which is already 3 minutes past my appointment) the driver calls to tell me he will be another 8 minutes! I told him nevermind, and hung up. I might be understanding except that this business is less than a quarter mile away from my house.. no excuses! If your business is getting people to a destination they need to be, which you are being PAID to do, then, get it together so people don't miss important appointments. Son had a medical emergency Sunday night-Feb. 15, and called Yellow Cab. They sent a cab driver that spoke very unintelligible English. Son said I only have $7 and the hospital isn't far. Can you take me there or as far as $7 will go? The driver took him to the hospital, my son thought he was being nice. My son gave him $7 and started getting out of the cab. The guy started screaming saying he was calling police. He said my son had to give him his ID. Isn't this illegal? I retired from the State of Mi and worked from 67-90 for Sec. of State. The only people that can demand and retain your ID are police officers. This is stealing and identity theft! Our son told the cabbie how much money he had and this is cabbie etiquette to agree upon a price. Cabbies, If you live in this country, learn to speak the English language legibly or don't work in a capacity where language is required. I have legal service I pay for through the State of Mi., and am considering calling the attorney tomorrow and possibly the police. We called the cab company and they don't bother calling back even though we agreed to pay the ripped off amount. They were supposed to locate our son's ID but the cab driver still had it and was out of town. Frightening to say the least!!! Use the yopper services or whatever they have now.
