I really do like, and appreciate, the quality of service that is normally offered by Calder City Taxi. However, I was quite disappointed just now. While I was in the car with my driver, the operator made a comment about me, since I had changed my destination address. I took this as being unprofessional. My driver did not agree with me. He argued with me that these are the way things go, and that I needed to let it go. As I defended my position about being slighted, I was told by my driver that I was being "rude", at least twice. This isn't a question of rudeness; rather, it's a question of unprofessionalism. I do nto appreciate being called "rude" by a customer representative / driver. And, I do not appreciate being insulted over live radio by the dispatcher. There are lots of ride options these days. cabs aside. Let's just leave it at that. read more

used this service at our clinic for over 15 years. excellent service, great drivers. The drivers are generally on time, sometimes early. If the driver is behind, we get an ETA call which is helpful. We found Calder City Taxi always reliable. The drivers are friendly, polite, and have great local knowledge, as they made the journey enjoyable. The cars are clean and comfortable, and well-maintained. Laura and Ernie do most of the scheduling, they are flexible and offer great customer service. read more

Dispatcher called at time of previously scheduled pick up time...said he could not be there for 20 - 30 minutes. Taxi was scheduled 3 hours in advance. Dispatcher indicated he was unaware of trip to airport (do not know why that makes a difference). Dispatcher was a TOTAL AHOLE. Never use this company!!! Never use this company!!! This is the worst taxi service in town. It took 40 before we cancelled because they didn't show. The lady was short and cut me off on the phone when I ordered, confirmed and cancelled. There is zero costumer service care and promptness of service. They need to fix their business, in my opinion it's a failure as it stands now. read more

With Uber on the rise, I don't want to forget the cab company that has helped me, as a bartender, get people home safe over the years. Also over the years, I've myself, been picked up by a drunk person, a creeper, and someone who doesn't show up at all. When I can and ask for a cab and they tell me 45 minutes (which is CRAZY!!!) and it takes them an hour, I call bs. After a 45 min wait last night, I called an uber. I also called Calder city back to cancel my ride and NO answer. I won't bother wasting time on how ridiculously prompt and accurate Uber was, but I will tell you while I was stepping into the vehicle, calder city driver called. When I told the driver I called an uber and offered my apologies, he had already hung up on me. FAIL! I've used them for almost 7 years now. This cab company at times can be really good and at other times can be really bad... there is a dude that answers the phones that I swear should be FIRED! he's rude and condescending. He has to be related to the owner other if she was smart she would get rid of him. I spend200 a month with this service and. I'm glad I getting a car soon. Horrible service. We were told less than a half hour wait. An hour later and several phone calls later they told us we were mistaken and that they said at least an hour. Called 15 minutes later and they told us it could be a couple more hours. At no time did they notify us or were they considerate on the phone. Do not use this company. read more

The most terrible can service I have ever used. They used to be maybe 3 stars but the last year 1 star maybe because if you flag one down the drivers are always really nice. What the other reviews say about the dispatchers being rude or not sending anyone is correct. I used this service for years as a bar manager, and they seemed reliable. If it were possible to rate a cab company less than a star, I would. This company has terrible customer service, they are almost always a half hour late for pickup, and they wait less than a minute for their customers to get to the vehicle before leaving again. Drivers are horrible, their phone representatives are rude, and the company as a whole has a terrible reputation. read more

Calder City is the absolute WORST cab company in Grand Rapids. The evening driver of cab #24 (older guy, long hair) smoked with me in the car and I can not be anywhere near SMOKE... I have an artificial airway! The driver also wrote on his own cognition, a ticket that was "billed" to Davita Dialysis. When it came back unpaid, the driver took it upon himself to add an additional $22 to my last and final ride. This driver is sad and pathetic excuse for a driver. It is NOT my fault he did what he did. If this driver is not terminated for smoking in the van with an oxygen dependent rider, I will be suing Calder City Cab. read more

I called for a cab for 3:30 pm in the afternoon and was told they couldn't do it because that was their shift change. She lady was extremely rude! When I said ok and asked if she could recommend another service she hung up on me! was that the wrong thing to ask? Even if it was she could have been decent about it! WORST CAB SERVICE EVER People on dispatch are rude and always seem bothered when you call (if they answer!). Wait time is ridiculous, over an hour for a quick ride in the city limits. These people are rude as business. I would never use them. I would never suggest them. If I could give zero stars I would. I didn't even spend money with them but offered to cover charges for driving out to me. They were still rude about the situation because I was taking care of a medical emergency and ended up having to call an ambulance. I didn't have time to call back to cancel on them because I was taking care of the injured person. I explained all of this to them and still had a bad response from two separate employees after offering both people to cover charges. I hope the business fails. read more

I got myself in a bit of a transportation jam and needed a taxi to get to an appointment about 5 miles away on short notice. My call was answered promptly and the car showed up about 20 minutes later. The driver was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Downside was the car was old and well worn. But I was most interested in getting to my appointment on time, which I did with 5 minutes to spare. I don't take taxis too often, but the cost seemed reasonable and I've had no major issues with Caulder over the past 10 years that I have used them. read more

I called this cab company for a ride for our patient in a dental office. They left her here waiting for 1 1/2. If they were that busy they should have said something when we called. It mad me so made I left my job and gave her a ride home myself. When I called to complain they said the least I could have done was call and let them know I was taking her home. I called Calder City for a ride to the airport. I allowed 1.5 hours for a 15 minute drive. When the driver was late, I called and they said he was right around the corner. After another 5+ minutes I called again and they said he was 5 minutes away. The driver did not apologize for his lateness or even mention it. They were loading the plane when we arrived. I called to report the fact that I was not satisfied with their service and I was told that I did not allow myself enough time. When I told the dispatcher that I would write a review, he said "Write whatever you want. I can tell you are an a$$h*le and I don't care what you do." This company is unreliable, and they have horrible customer service skills. I work in the hotel industry. I called cabs for guests a couple of times and they ended up being late at least 20 minutes both times, even after I followed up with them to check on their progress! The guy I spoke to was rude and inconsiderate. In this business you don't give excuses. Either you are prompt and personable, or you will lose my recommendation. i called to get a taxi to the bus station forty five minutes before my train was leaving, and the taxi showed up ten minutes after my train had already left the the taxi driver had the gaul to give me attitude and be rude to me and tell me i should have called to cancel the cab so he didn't have to drive all the way with no fare. i don't understand how you can run a customer service business and be the rude to someone. i would never use this company again. read more
