I hate to leave a one-star review on a small business, but unfortunately, I felt it was necessary given the poor service received. My husband dropped off his shoes to be repaired. The soles were coming off the bottom of the shoe. While he could have done the repairs himself, he wanted the quality expected from a local shoe cobbler. When he picked up the shoes, he found they were covered with glue. There were areas of leather that had been scratched to remove excess glue. Other sections of the sole were still loose. He spoke with the owner, who said they were fine but agreed to "fix" the areas. While it was slightly better, the shoes are still in worse shape than when my husband initially dropped them off. read more

Sadly, I'm writing this post to warn people- as not to make the same mistake I made. W/o going into too many details, I had a designer brand shoe with one heel cushion missing. Was asked if I would like the entire bottoms redone or put on a protective coat which I agreed to and basically I got a piece of rubber that was glued onto the bottom of the shoe and the glue showed on the side of the shoes. it was horrific. I had to send it to a professional leather store in New York to repair the damage. Unless you're in need of a very small and easy repair I would NOT recommend this business. read more

Do not bring your shoes here. The boots I had "repaired" here failed immediately. The very first time I wore the the soles actually came off. It appears the new soles were glued to the bottom of the wooden soles of the boots (hence the style difference). I only wore them for one hour before they failed. While no weather (rain, snow) was involved, I suspect the cold temperature and, well, walking caused them to actually fall apart. A waste of money, time and formerly good boots. I came in to have my heels repaired just a couple of days before a party. I asked if there's any way he could get them fixed by tomorrow, not expecting a positive answer but hopeful. The gentleman said that I can wait and he will fix the shoes right away. He charged me almost half of what I usually pay other places and did a great job. I was happy to pay him double for a great service, but he wouldn't hear of it. I'm glad I found this place and will come back for all my repairs. read more

I'm trying to make my favorite pair of hiking boots last forever. Last year, the sole separated on one shoe and it began to let water in. Went here to have it re-glued. Did 12 miles on the Batona Trail this weekend, intentionally walking through water and deep puddles. Not a drop on my sock! Very happy camper! read more

I brought them my favorite ankle boots and asked for a new sole. Instead I received a new sole and black shoe paint over the beautiful solid wood grain heel. They look terrible and cheap. When I attempted to clarify what I was looking for I got no where. read more

I do not agree with the negative reviews. First of all, these are super nice people. I brought in a pair of birks because the sole was coming unglued. They fixed them and made some keys for me in about 10 minute for $20 all together. Compare that to replacing shoes for $130, or mail order repairs that were $80. Granted it was an easy fix but this was better than expected and I'll bring them more business. So grateful to have them in the area. read more

Seventeen dolla make you holla! High priced, sub-par work. One pair of dress shoes and one pair of boots for just a shine, $17. These were shoes that were not in bad shape to start with (a month old) and it took her less than 5 minutes to do them. She asked that I "come back to get them." I feel mildly taken. Also, one pair of shoes looks like she barely even touched them. I will never return. read more

I have heels replaced here often and a pair of sandals repaired. Great service and fair pricing. The shop owner is really friendly and accommodating. He even replaced a pair of heels for me on the spot once! The location is convenient with a easy in and out parking lot. read more

They are the worst shoe shine place I have been to. I have a very expensive pair of cognac dress shoes. They didn't have the matching shine and tried to use a neutral gloss shine on them. When I saw them, I demanded that they be redone, only to come back worse. read more

Just had the best experience ever at this place. I brought in my black leather boots for new laces and a polish. The very nice gentleman measured my old laces so I would get the exact size I needed and polished them to perfection within minutes! Highly recommend this place! read more

I have a Herschel backpack that I've been using throughout university. Recently it got stuck on something and so nearly ripped off a shoulder strap. The backpack was expensive so I took it here for repairs. For $12 it looks brand new. The strap is secure and looks fantastic. read more

On my first visit to Veterans Lane Shoe Repair, I was charged a steep $14 for a shoe shine and it took 3 days to get the shoes back. Today, I went to have taps added to new leather shoes. I told them that I needed them for an event in 4 days and he said that they wouldn't be ready for another week and was flabbergasted when I asked if he could get it done faster. Really?! It takes six business days for a 10 minute job? When I lived in Center City, my local shoe repair place had a job like this turned around in 8 hours. It is a shame because he is the only place I could find in central Bucks county for shoe repair. Avoid this business if you can. read more

Veterans Lane Shoe repair is very good. I wear modified shoes due to cerebral palsy and he is very capable at repairing them.

Don't go there. I took a pair of shoes to get new soles put on, well he charged me $48.00 and all he did was glue A PIECE OF RUBBER ON TOP OF THE OLD SOLE. When I complained he said " no no good price ". Like I said all he did was GLUE A PIECE OF RUBBER ON TOP OF OLD SOLES. It is the worst job ever, ever. Will never go back. read more

When dear Robert was there, his work was of the highest order. He cared about shoes and the quality of his work. After his sudden and sad demise, regrettably the shop was taken over by people who know nothing about the artisanship of shoe repair. A quick "cut and paste" is what you are going to get. My husband took back one "repair" three times. Never ever again. I miss Robert so much, for his warm and kind personality as much as for his reliably excellent work. read more

I have taken many pairs of shoes to Veteran's Lane over the years. It used to belong to someone who did quality work for a reasonable price, and ran the business with integrity. After his lamentable passing, it was taken over by an Asian family. I continued to give them my business because I felt a sense of loyalty to the previous shop owner. I had given them a good deal of business since they assumed the role, but my last experience is the last opportunity I will ever give them to earn my money. I brought a dress with a broken zipper there to be fixed and they lost it. Then they told me that I never brought them a dress and tried to make me second guess myself that I ever brought it in to begin with. The owner refused to give me any concession on the price of the other items I brought him (two pairs of shoes and a torn handbag to the tune of $69) and called me a liar. He waved a notebook in front of me and a paper tag with pencil markings on it as the only record of what I dropped off- and never gave me a receipt when I did so initially. The work they do is expensive and far from top notch. They are also crooks because they stole an expensive item from me. They are piggybacking on the success of the previous owner and it's execrable, an absolute shame. read more

There are NO stars for this place.My husband took in a pair of very expensive Bass boots.They were worn once,and the sole came unglued.(shame on Bass boots,but that's beside the point).They charged him 38$ to glue the soles back on.A week later we picked them up,and low and behold the back part of the sole (heel end)was still flapping.So we took them back.She said,no problem -no charge.She did mention this was an ongoing issue with the Bass company.A week later,we pick them up.There was black glue visable all around the leather part and guess what...he put them on and they came apart again.We took them back.The woman insisted it was the companies fault.He demanded his money back.SHE asked how much she charged,he said 38$ and she said "oh no,28$".(It was 38$,i saw the stub,and he complained to me about the price and said he could buy new boots for that).Then she handed him 10$ back.NEVER going back to this place.Go to the guy in Q-mart who values his customers and knows his business. read more
