Not once but twice have they seen , treated and got my girl home . The first time was about a year ago- obviously during the pandemic. My puppy at the time became very lethargic, throwing up constantly and not herself. I was in full panic mode and our vet couldn't get her in. I started calling emergency vets in the area and the only one that said to bring her in was VCS. I drove the 20 minutes there crying and scared for my girl for the staff - from the doctors down to the receptionist- to treat us with the utmost respect and care. They tested my girl for parvo and unfortunately she came back positive. Sheer panic And terror set in as I did not want to lose my puppy (I mean no one wants to lose their loved ones). They took her in immediately, explained cost UP FRONT so we weren't sticker shocked and by the grace of god(and the amazing staff ) our girl pulled through. Fast forward to today, Athena presented with vomiting, uncontrollable shaking and lethargic . Called our vet and she was out on a medical emergency so I called VCS . They had no actual open appointments available today but with her condition the doctor was able to squeeze her in during "down time" in between appointments. For a place that's already booked and I'm sure they are over worked too boot- they didn't even hesitate . X-rays and blood work done, exceptional care per usual and a few minor medical issues with Athena and she was home by 5 pm. I cannot thank this clinic enough- you all are outstanding from the receptionist who was so kind on the phone and calming me down to the doctor calling as soon as she could to thoroughly explain all the testing and results to me and for the tech that walked Athena and helped us to the car . Thank you all, I truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. Athena gives you all two paws up and says (in the best way) she hopes to not see anyone in an emergency situation again! I had been taking my black lab here for reoccurs g ear infections. Typical charge to my shock was $700 for exam, ear cleaning, and claw clip. My lab developed another ear infection. I called to request a refill for the prescription that was given to clear it up, explaining I am currently on disability with limited income and could not afford the inflated cost of a Dr. visit at this time. They refused, and advised I would need to bring him back in with charges starting at $75 for an initial exam. This clinic is focused on gouging customers and definitely NOT the well being of our pets. Will not return. read more

Came here for emergency fluids and Addison disease meds for my dog. They put the fluids in the front of her chest instead of in her back, like any other place has done. After not even 2 days before the appointment with her normal vet, she start breathing weird and couldn't even lie down or else shed suffocate. I stayed up each night afraid if Id let her go, she'd not be able to hold herself up and would die. she stayed standing with my help, for two days before they told me she had pneumonia and her lungs full of fluid. I had to put down my first pet, my baby, my world because they didn't do their job right. as I laid her head down it started pouring blood, something I'd never seen before and frankly straight up traumatizing. I will never be bringing another one of my pets here, for as long as I live. I suggest the same to others if you value your pets well being. read more

We have visited this clinic a few times since moving to Milford. The first time, in 2021, this was an emergency clinic but they had a hard time finding staff and the wait was long. If I had only our 2021 visits to base this review on, I would give it 2 stars. However, we started going back in 2024 because they have changed their model and brought in some great experienced Vets. They are no longer an emergency clinic but simply a normal vet office. They've done a good job with our dogs and cats so far and I plan to go back. I only have 4 stars because our experience so far has been for routine items and I can't comment on more complex care. read more

Dr. Tokar and Staff were very knowledgeable and helpful regarding all of the necessary health examinations/immunizations/requirements to import our family dog to Europe as part of a new work assignment overseas. No problems at customs and immigration, all paperwork was completed properly and had necessary endorsements and embossments. Definitely recommend working with Dr. Tokar for expats relocating to Europe. Our dog had an allergic reaction to a bee sting- (anaphylaxis). He was vomiting and collapsed and his gums were grey. He needed vet attention immediately. We were in the car and I called up here and they told me they didn't have a vet on site so they couldn't see him. I'm sorry but isn't this an Emergency vet?! I will never even bother to call here again and I recommend no one else do either. Rude staff!!! UGH!!! I am new to the area and tried this office to see if my animal could be seen any sooner since the closest VCA is about 30 mins away and unsure if his injury was life threatening. My visited started with a very cold and unfriendly receptionist that assumed I knew the process as she pushed a paper in my face and said "fill this out." The next 3 mins went downhill and I soon exited the building with my sick animal. Our cat was extremely ill on Christmas Eve, my mom called for emergency veterinarian services that morning and we were turned away on the grounds that they had no one working overnight and did not want to risk having to admit him. I was referred to Dr Mair for surgery on my dogs leg, they were very prompt and attentive when they wanted to schedule a $3000.00 surgery but trying to get in for a follow up appointment has been ridiculous, I called the office three times, started 4 days after her surgery, was told each time I would get a return telephone call once they could get me scheduled (because dr only works there one day a week), I never received a call until Dr. Mair called me telling me I refused an appointment (I was never offered) and was nearly as rude as the girls at the front desk. I live nearly an hour away so dropping my dog off and picking her up is not an option for me. I feel that part of the surgery should have included a follow up appointment( is figured in with the cost of surgery) upon checking out and paying my balance. Needless too say, I WILL NOT go to this place again, nor will I refer anyone to this place. On a good note, my dog is healing nicely and seems to be doing good. read more

My mom took my dog into this veterinary clinic to see what was wrong with him, he had eaten something and the options were put him down or surgery. My family could not afford the surgery. The veterinarian that had answered the phone when my mom had called to see when to pick him up, (she was a woman), was incredibly unprofessional and had blamed my mom for what had happened to our dog. I am a committed fur Momma with my animals when Dr. Schmidt was there. She has since left. I took my dog in (06/11/2018) because her toe was infected and in need of care ASAP. The Vet who came in didn't even introduce himself and could hardly speak English and got frustrated at me because I kept saying I don't understand you. Anyway, he had to put Tink to sleep to lance her wound and sent us home for 3 days and to come back for a recheck. His instructions, IN WRITING, and was to not let her foot get dirty or wet and to leave the wrapping on and this bag he put on. By the time I came back and he rechecked her and her door was severely infected (it even stunk) he said they needed to amputate her entire leg!! In fact, it was the receptionist who told me since he never came back to tell me! They also wanted to charge $3,600 dollars for this surgery! I called Roadside Vet and they took Tink in immediately. Dr. Joy immediately gave her very strong antibiotics and told me what to do with her and to keep her wound unwrapped. She also did the tests that VSC did NOT do i.e bloodwork, X-rays etc., and said if we get her infection under control we may just have to take off just the toe. Today we went back for another recheck. Her wound looks so much better that she is confidant we may get away with dead tissue removal. She prescribed her more antibiotics and a probiotic and we go back for a recheck in a week. Veterinarian Specialist Care just wanted the money and to amputate her leg while getting said money. They do NOT have a Vet on staff and are using Vets that can take some time to fill in the gaps! Until they get it back together I will NOT ever return there. God forbid if you have an emergency after 6:00 PM because no one will be there to help you. read more

We have been bringing our dog here since he was 4 months old and is now 4 years old. Dr Schmidt and her team as well as many other vets in the hospital have seen him for everything from routine maintenance to overnight stay for stomach issues. My dog can be a handful for some to deal with but they are all kind and gentle with him and we are lucky to have found such an amazing place to care for our dog. read more

I brought my kitty Beans into emergency care late night the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend. The vet techs and doctors there past 11pm were caring and patient and treated my kitty with such care. I commend the staff who takes care of sick animals 24/7, especially during a holiday weekend. Seeing as how Beans was in their care all weekend I was pretty shocked at how reasonable the bill was. I am so glad I live nearby and have such reliable emergency care for my pets should the unfortunate need arise. read more

I took my dog, Marco there though it was 45 minutes away as all the veterinary hospitals near me were at capacity. They kept him overnight and seemed to be very caring & compassionate. They took radiographs of his abdomen. The following day I was able to get him into a hospital within 10 minutes of my home. I called Veterinary Care Specialists(VCS) & they said they would send all the info to them, including the x-rays. If he needed surgery, they would have to refer him anyway to this hospital (or another). When I was able to get into the other hospital 3 hours later, they still hadn't received the x-rays from VCS. This hospital contacted VCS twice more to get the x-rays and they were never sent. So, after 4 hours I told them to run the same set of x-rays & ended up paying an extra $290 for the same x-rays because VCS didn't send them. I am very upset about this. They didn't want me to take him out of their care as they told me how much more I would be paying at this hospital, so was this retaliation? I don't know. But I won't take an animal there again. I paid for those x-rays, they were mine & should've been sent to the hospital I was going to. read more

Our dog had been dying for some time. We decided it was time to set an appointment the next day to have her put down. They explained come in, get the shot, go to sleep, leave. Upon arrival they acted surprised we showed up. Placed in the back room for 45 minutes with our 2 teen daughters and a terrified dog. Finally they show, "won't hurt at all". Our dog reacted chocking, stopped breathing and basically died in a state of panic. One of the worst experiences of my life. Been calling for 2 days and the office manager Mr. Something still has not returned my calls

I took my senior cat here for care when she started showing signs that she was sick. After an ultrasound and blood work, Dr Hass said they should do surgery to see what's going on with her. It would cost $4-5k. My cat was very old, so I was shocked they would suggest surgery. I felt pressured to do it, which bothered me, so I took her home with pain meds and told them I just wanted to make her comfortable as she gets closer to the end. No surgery. Discharge papers said to call Dr Hass if she deteriorates and if she's not there, have the staff reach her. That's what I did, but I never received a call back from Dr Hass. I had to put my sweet kitty down three days later using an at home hospice care. A few days later, VCS sent me a reminder in the mail to bring my cat in for a fecal checkup. read more

This was the WORST experience ever!! The Vets there are VERY uncaring, not interested in what you have to say about your pet & are VERY incompetent! Their answer to treatment is drugs and the products on the shelf.. They "treated" my dog, Nani, for 4 months, all summer, for allergies... Gave steroids and Apoquel continually....When I told them neither one was helping her...they prescribed her to take both drugs together...also, I talked to them about how much she had spiked, from the last 2 summers, and gave them ALL the info to send up red flags that she needed skin testing or other tests. After 4 mos of drugs, Dr Warner said , "we don't know what's wrong with your dog"? Dr. Schmidt thought it was food allergy? .Afrer 4 months, just treating the symptoms .hey told me to wait 30 days after taking all the steroids and" if I wanted to go that route, I could do allergy testing.". I knew Nani ,nor I, could not survive another 30 days of drugs and no answers!!! After researching, yesterday, I took Nani to Roadside Vet and told her ALL the same things, I had told 2 Dr.s at VCS. Within 1 hour, Nani tested positive to mites.....Dr. Joy knew , in one" through" exam, .what to test for. I would highly recommend ROADSIDE VETINARIAN!! read more

I was sent how with surgery discharge instructions for my dog that listed the wrong medication dosage (a mistake I caught and had to tell them about!) was told to keep a wound covered for two weeks when it was in fact supposed to be exposed. Found this out after three phone calls and demanding to speak to a vet. No longer will take my pets there. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE!! I took my 5 month old puppy in and within an hour or two of testing they discovered a foreign body inside of him. That is a fatal situation when not removed and he had been throwing up since the previous morning. They assured me the surgeon would be in that evening and they would rescan and make a plan while they rehydrated him. That was a LIE! After multiple calls their surgeon was not going to be in until the following morning. I asked to speak to the evening vet but was denied and only got to speak to the tech and secretary. They had my dog for 20 hours and did nothing to resolve the issue(removal of unknown object) I signed an AMA and took him to a different vet where they operated right away and the object was about to perforate his intestines! My dog would have died had I kept him there in their care. I got a second and third opinion from other vets based off their xray I requested and was told by both he needed surgery asap! I dont know what their motive was but it sure wasn't getting my puppy healthy. Their negligence almost cost my puppy his life! read more

Absolutely awful. Took a bunny in to get help, was clearly dying and they turned us away over $78. I honestly cannot believe how we were treated there. Not a care at all. They would have only had to wait about 6 hours for the money and offered to leave all forms of ID or wait there till the money was clear in the bank but was still turned away. Absolutely outraged. I understand they get people who dont pay but we tried everything to make them comfortable with knowing we would pay in just hours. This was not even our bunny, it was our daughters friends bunny but its still very upsetting that all we could do it watch this poor bunny suffer because " they dont have the authority to just look at it with out payment" sounds to me these people need to find a new profession cause doing right over $78 wasn't worth their time. A top winning smooth coat Chihuahua's life and future ability to reproduce was put at significant, unnecessary, and continuing risk due to a careless and avoidable error by the staff at this facility. The dog, Riley, had begun labor and was taken into the clinic for a cesarean section delivery. After the section was complete the Vet informed the client that Riley had a small tear in her uterine wall and therefore he was not going to be able to administer any oxytocin due to the risk of putting pressure on the internal stitches (oxytocin contracts the uturious and forces any remaining afterbirth to be expelled). What the doctor did not inform the client is that he had closed the incision with fully intact afterbirth still inside Riley. If a canine does not pass afterbirth following the delivery of each puppy then they will develop an infection and die. This is common knowledge; if there are four puppies then there must be four afterbirths. It was especially important to ensure all afterbirths were removed in this instance because of the tear in her uterine wall. That tear would enable the infection to seep out and spread beyond the uturious. Since the vet knew he could not safely administer oxytocin it should have been an even greater priority. The removal of afterbirth is a routine procedure and leaving one inside is nothing more than an incredible display of negligence and incompetence This monumental mistake resulted in a listless and agonizing Riley that had a raging temperature of 105, less than twelve hours after she was released from surgery. As soon as her owner noticed the protrusion of afterbirth from the vulva they quickly rushed her back to the clinic. When they returned for emergency care the staff was rude, dismissive, condescending, and unsympathetic. They admitted no wrong doing and were preoccupied with covering and shifting blame as opposed to rectifying a blatant mistake. They tried to charge the customer even more money to provide additional follow up care to the dog, even though Riley was in her current ailing condition due to their obvious error. Refusing to pay for their mistakes and not being comfortable with leaving Riley in the hands of the same people whose carelessness nearly killed her just hours before they made the decision to take Riley elsewhere for more competent care The staff made it clear that they were not interested in working to resolve the issue. Mistakes are understandable, unfortunate, but understandable nonetheless. But, blatant refusals to acknowledge those mistakes and remedy them, now that's a different story. I have no idea how things will turn out for poor Riley, I do not know if she will live or die. If she does survive, the ramifications this may have on her reproductive system will remain unknown without invasive and costly examinations. Now, 72 hours following the incident and after numerous phone calls and office visits the clinic is now backtracking, saying the afterbirth was left in intentionally. Yet, somehow it is NOT noted in any of her charts, NEVER mentioned to Riley's owner, and the vets NEVER prescribed any antibiotics (All standard procedure, if such a decision was made). The owner should have been made aware along with the patients chart updated, so the owner could stay vigilant and watch for the afterbirth to pass on its on so if it didn't (within a reasonable amount of time) they could seek veterinary care. This botched C-section cost $1,477.00. The clinic will not admit any wrong doing and will not refund any of the money. The clinic refuses to have a face-to-face meeting with Riley's owner, saying the incident does not merit it. Please Beware of this dishonest and dangerous vet clinic. read more
