I brought my cat Toshi to Veterinary Eye Clinic for a dark spot that appeared in his iris. I was concerned that it was something serious, but fortunately it was benign. They explained everything in an easy-to-understand manner and the doctors were very warm, kind, and treated my cat like their own. Everyone involved in his care was welcoming and compassionate. I would definitely bring him back for any future concerns. Thank you everyone!

What's up: Our senior dog suddenly developed a cloudy eye with discharge! We were recommended by our primary vet to get it checked out by an ophthalmologist. Parking: Parking was available in their front lot. The building is located right on the corner of Valley Blvd and Cabrillo Ave (right across from Aloha Food Factory). Environment: Appointments are required. We called early in the morning and they were able to squeeze us in for an afternoon appointment. The office is well lit and comfortable; they also have WiFi and jars of pet snacks at the waiting area. We checked in at the reception desk, got our dog weighed, and were then shown to the exam room. After a short wait, Jocelyn came in to ask some questions as well as perform some initial eye tests. Dr. Chang came by afterwards to do additional tests and based on those these, he was able to provide easy to understand explanations of the findings as well as the next steps to take. Payment is made at the end of the visit at the reception desk. What was ordered: - Eye examination - Medical eye drops Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. Dr. Chang, Dr. Jaggers, and the staff were awesome. They treated our doggo so nicely and were able to determine what was bothering him. We were also really appreciative of how well Dr. Chang explained things. He helped put us at ease since we were panicking about our dog's condition. They are also very responsive through text messages, yay! Credit cards and ApplePay are accepted.

    Glaucoma and cataract surgery

Dr. Sheahan and the staff here are absolutely wonderful. My foster dog needed surgery on both eyes for glaucoma and cataracts. Dr. Sheahan thoroughly explained the process and what to expect before and after surgery. I appreciate that she offered more glaucoma treatment options than other doctors. We drove all the way from Orange County which often took more than an hour each way. It was totally worth it. Post-surgery, the doctor kindly answered any urgent questions even at odd hours. My dog's prognosis was very good and he's able to see again - which helped immensely in helping him find a permanent home. Thank you, Dr. Sheahan and VEC.

We are so grateful that we know Dr. Jennifer Sheahan. We are new owners to a baby bunny and noticed that his eyes were watery. I called Dr. Jennifer Sheahan and she knew exactly what to do. We quickly made an appointment to see her within a couple days and she performed a few different tests to make sure there wasn't anything else underlying. They flushed her eyes out and she was instantly cured. No more watery eyes. Her staff was amazing and very kind. Treated our bunny like it was their own. Thank you Toby! I would definitely recommend Dr. Sheahan to anyone who has animal eye issues.

    Pepper before cataract surgery

We had a great experience with the Veterinary Eye Clinic - doctors and team! They are compassionate, explained the "why" and process before they do anything with Pepper, quick in providing supporting documentation for pet insurance reimbursements, and provided my little girl, Pepper, with the best gift - her eye sight! Pepper was 12 years young, with a healed ulcer and slight cataract on her left eye, and more noticeable cataract on her right eye. Dr. Goldenberg and team [covering for Dr. Sheahan during maternity leave] - Thank you, thank you for giving Pepper a chance! Pepper was going to another veterinary ophthalmologist for a year, and her right eye condition continued to decline due to aging. When asked about cataract surgery for Pepper, the doctor became hesitant when she learned that Pepper has a heart murmur, even though Pepper's heart murmur has been stable for years. Dr. Goldenberg, you did not hesitate when you learned about Pepper's heart murmur and that she was 12 years young. You provided information about what cataract surgery will entail, explained complicated matters in a way we can understand, answered all our questions, and provided guidance on the next steps of various tests to see if Pepper is a good candidate for cataract surgery. You provided recommendations for having an anesthesiologist during her surgery, which we did not know was an option. It brought us extra comfort that we could add-on the anesthesiologist services because of Pepper's heart murmur. Dr. Sheahan and team - Thank you, thank you so much for giving Pepper the best gift - her eyesight! We had tears of joy when we noticed that Pepper could see again! First night at home, she was curious and wanted to explore the house. As days went by, Pepper was able to maneuver around furniture, felt confident going down the stairs, gave her independence back to roam free in the house, and being able to see the doggy door so she can go potty by herself! With all Pepper's complicated health conditions, you were careful and mindful of the medication that Pepper should receive. You responded quickly when we had questions about Pepper's recovery. You explain complicated matters in a way we can understand, and you always have a book ready that we can take pictures of to further understand Pepper's eye conditions and what to look for. You are kind, professional, knowledgeable, and truly love your job! Thank you again for all you do and the services you provide for your community. It is a hard job! Bless you all!

Dr. Jennifer Sheehan is truly an exceptional veterinary ophthalmologist. She beautifully corrected my bulldog's cherry eyes, and she has also successfully treated my Boston Terrier's corneal ulcers twice--once in each eye. Her expertise, precision, and compassionate care have given my dogs the best possible outcomes every time. What sets Dr. Sheehan apart is not only her incredible skill but also how genuinely caring she is. She takes the time to explain everything, treats my pets as if they were her own, and always makes me feel confident that they're in the best hands. I gladly travel several hours to see Dr. Sheehan because I know the quality of care she provides is worth every mile. I feel incredibly fortunate to have her caring for my dogs, and I recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for the very best in veterinary eye care. Dr Laura Mann

Dr Sheehan and her team put me and my dog at such ease! after a follow up with our general vet they said we should try to see if we can get an appt with an ophthalmologist before our next follow up. I called their Alhambra office but their next available wasn't until 2 weeks. I called their Pomona office and they were able to get me in within the next 2 hrs. They also had an open slot where the doctor would be in and out with other patients and they'd be able to squeeze us in if we couldn't make the 12pm spot since we had an hour+ drive from LA. We got there 1230 and were seen within 15 mins. My dog isn't the most comfortable at the vet but they were patient with him. We were able to leave the room since he's a bit protective and watch from outside with a peep hole (never had the opportunity to do that) Dr Sheehan educated us on my dog's melting ulcer and how severe it was. She wanted to make sure there wasn't anything lodged inside so we had to sedate my dog but they did it very quickly. Her and her team were also conscious of the costs and sedating my dog for the 2nd time that week. Her front desk team was also so so so responsive before I got there. They upped our eye drop meds from our general vet. I'd send in photos to their team and they'd review it within that day and give me a call. They really put you at ease with how much care they provide for you and your dog. After sending another set of photos and videos to them, Dr Sheehan had called me directly after a long day at the clinic to reassure my dog's eye looks good/healing. Although it's a bit of a drive, I can rest easy knowing my dog is in good hands with Dr Sheehan and her team! I'm glad I was able to find them via yelp/google reviews too!

Dr. Sheahan is amazing! My dog has a bad eye injury and my best friend who's in the vet industry referred me to her. It was an hour drive for me but it was so worth it!!! Dr. Sheahan explained everything in such detail, but in a way us normal folk can understand it. She showed me everything going on in his eye, all the images, had me take pics with my cell from books that had pictures and write-ups of what I needed to keep an eye out for in the future (no pun intended lol) and she played a video for me to watch while they ran tests in the back that taught me how to test my dog's vision tracking. I really can't say enough about her and the care she gave my sweet Teddy! He was already feeling so much better the very next day! If your fur baby needs an eye doctor, you could not choose a better doctor to take them too!

Half of the front reception were welcoming but not the kind of intro a new client would expect. Almost felt as if reception didn't want to greet or talk to us so that was disappointing but we checked in for our appointment anyway. Fortunately, the rest of the staff and vet techs that helped inside the room were kind, patient and gentle when performing the eye exams on our yorkie. Our yorkie was not happy with the process but the exams were not invasive. Dr. Chang then checked our yorkie's eyes and thoroughly explained the issue our old dog was having. He took his time to answer questions and we feel confident knowing our yorkie is doing great overall. He does have cataracts as a result of aging but is natural for a 17 year old furbaby. We are grateful for Dr. Chang and the techs professional and caring attitude toward our furbaby. Knowledgeable, honest and I'd definitely come back if any of my pets have specific eye/vision concerns. Thanks for your time and gentleness on our sweet, little ole' dog =)

We had the best experience here for our senior husky. The staff went above and beyond to help him during a time-sensitive scary eye emergency. Special mention--Dr. Jaggers was amazing. You can tell she loves animals, wants the very best for them, and knows what she's doing. She guided us through a very scary process, and I'm happy to report that our dog is doing great!

I would like to give this clinic 100 stars instead of 5. My cat has been coming to this clinic for a long time. My cat is under constant eye monitoring. Dr. Chan is a very competent and honest doctor. He explains things very well and is very friendly. You can't find this doctor anywhere else, he's the only one you can trust. The front desk guys and nurses are very friendly.

    After the procedure

Took my 13 year old pug Bruce here for a consult. He had been suffering from a severe dry eye on his right eye. My prior vet just said to keep giving him artificial tears to help with tear production. Fast forward a few months later he started to grow a mass on the dry eye. Lots of gunk kept building up, took him to my new vet and was referred to Dr Tracy. During the consult she spotted the problem and gave me 2 options. Surgically remove the mass and he would have to go under or doing a cryo surgery. We opted for the cryo surgery. She performed the procedure very quick and I was able to bring Bruce home after about an hour! They sent the mass for testing. She put him on a treatment that had some eye medication and eye drops as well as some anti inflammatory stuff. His eye was healing nicely and noticed his eye was very glossy. A few days later I got a call from Dr Tracy with the results of the mass and it was benign! A big relief Had our post procedure check up today and when they were doing the eye test, the strips were filled with tears I almost cried lol. I remember a month ago when we did the test there was no tears to be seen on the eye test for his right eye. Thank you Dr Tracy for the constant communication and transparency throughout the whole process. Also big thanks to all the techs that helped out as well

I was fairly frantic when I called after being turned down by 3 clinics when trying to get a walk-in emergency appointment. The receptionist Mark did tell me they were full for the day, but proceeded to ask me what was going on, while every other clinic I had called had just told me they were filled and wouldn't see her. Once I explained, he asked me to wait a moment so he could speak to the Doctor and then told me they could squeeze us in later that day. I was so appreciative that he made that extra effort. When the appointment time came, I didn't feel rushed despite them squeezing me in and everyone was so kind. They were transparent that her lump was concerning and went over testing recommendations and were able to do most of the tests same day. I was clearly nervous and Dr. Cassidy was so compassionate and warm. Once the results from the test came back later that week and they emailed me her results and notes, Dr. Cassidy followed up with a personal call. It was a hard conversation but she was both gentle and honest in the conversation. We had our follow up today. I cried through most of the appointment because I have to make some really hard decisions to give my baby the best life in the time she has left. Dr. Cassidy didn't pressure me into any decisions, or things my cat wouldn't need just to make more money. She didn't make me feel bad for any of my choices, just gave me calm, compassion, and a certainty that she would be there for me and my baby every step of the way and that she truly cares. This has been a really hard 2 weeks, but Dr. Cassidy and the team at the Encanto Clinic have made it just a little bit easier.

There is typically plenty of parking during business hours, with a relatively quiet parking lot, so you can easily wait with your pet in the indoor seating or outside. Typically not crowded indoors, so if you have a scared or reactive pet, there is plenty of space in the large lobby / reception area to sit with your animal companion without them being too close to other patients. The pet scale in the reception area is flush with the floor, and because it's in the lobby, you can assist with your animal being weighed before they head into the back area with the staff - this is very helpful for scared and energetic pets who may need help sitting still. The staff are terrifically kind and helpful to both animals and humans. They are patient, they listen to your requests and feedback and help process your stress around a sick or injured animal. The doctors are skilled and thorough, and will help you through the complicated processes to make the best decisions for your animals. Payment and procedures are explained in advance with clear language and paper (and/or digital) estimates outlining cost and potential emergent medical choices. Reasonable prices. Ask about vaccine discount days! Best of all - they don't have an "emergency" fee for same-day or walk-in appointments! Even so, it's smart to call ahead if requesting a same-day appointment so you won't be waiting long with your stressed pet. Honestly, my dog loves the staff here.

If I could give Dr. Park and the team at Bewell Animal Hospital 10 stars, I absolutely would…read more After coming home from a trip, I immediately knew something was wrong with my dog, Rufus. He wasn't eating, was sleeping excessively, had severe dental pain, and even started having bloody diarrhea. As any pet parent can imagine, I was terrified. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Park and the entire staff treated Rufus with compassion, urgency, and genuine care. They took the time to thoroughly examine him, explain everything clearly, and answer all of my questions without making me feel rushed or pressured. What impressed me most was their honesty and integrity. They focused on what Rufus actually needed rather than recommending unnecessary tests or treatments. After speaking with other hospitals, I truly believe the cost elsewhere could have easily been several times higher. Bewell provided exceptional care at a fair price, which is rare to find these days. Most importantly, they treated Rufus like he was their own pet. That level of kindness and compassion meant the world to me during such a stressful time. To Dr. Park and the entire team: thank you for taking such amazing care of my baby. You turned one of the scariest days into one filled with hope and reassurance. If you're looking for a veterinarian who is knowledgeable, trustworthy, compassionate, and truly puts animals first, I cannot recommend Bewell Animal Hospital highly enough.

Once it was time to pick up the puppy, Sergio took the time to go through the discharge documents and really explain the next steps. I really appreciated how patient he was with all the questions I was asking. Ashley was also able to promptly send over the medical records. Dental surgery is stressful, but the team at Vet Villa really make it as painless as possible.

Bringing a newly adopted dog home from a shelter is supposed to be an exciting experience. What I…read moredidn't expect was learning that Rigly Blue had significant medical issues that weren't apparent when I adopted him. Those first couple of months were filled with multiple veterinary visits, questions, and a lot of worry. From the very first appointment, the entire team at Vet Villa made us feel like we mattered. They didn't treat Rigly as just another new patient coming in for a routine meet-and-greet. They took the time to understand his history as a stray, the challenges he was facing, and the care he truly needed. Over the past two and a half months, Rigly has spent a great deal of time in their care, and every visit has been met with genuine kindness, compassion, patience, and professionalism. It's clear that this isn't just a veterinary hospital--it's a team of people who truly love the animals they care for and are deeply invested in the well-being of pets in our community. I am incredibly grateful for everything they've done for Rigly Blue and for giving both of us the support we needed during a very unexpected start to our journey together. Thank you for treating him as if he were one of your own. ~N

Reposting -I agree with many of the reviews here. Long post, but the ending is worth it…read more The pricing at this clinic is outrageous. The staff appear professional, but the entire experience felt like a slow, calculated attempt to upsell me on every possible test--most of which had nothing to do with the reason I came in. My regular vet referred me here because it was close to home, and my cat needed a partial ear amputation due to skin cancer. All I wanted was a quote. Instead, the doctor refused to give any estimate until I completed a list of "recommended" diagnostics. Stage 1: Bloodwork -- nearly $700. Then suddenly my cat "had a heart murmur," and I was told anesthesia could kill him unless I pursued more testing. Stage 2: Full-body X‑rays + EKG -- another $600. Results came back normal. Great. But then came the next push: a heart ultrasound, because "X‑rays can't show everything." At this point, I had to ask myself: Do I even have a real choice? If the ultrasound confirmed a murmur, I'd be stuck in a no‑win situation: risk anesthesia or let the cancer spread. It felt like a manufactured dilemma designed to pressure me into more procedures. The doctor even guilt‑tripped me with, "If it were my pet, I'd do the ultrasound." That was the moment I realized how manipulative this was becoming. By now I'd spent over $1,300, and the ultrasound alone was quoted at $450-$600. Finally, after all of this, I got the surgery estimate: $2,200-$2,700 for a small ear amputation (see pictures) The breakdown was absurd--nickel‑and‑diming for every tiny item imaginable. Friends urged me to get a second opinion. So I went to an animal hospital on Figueroa. That doctor listened to my cat's heart twice and confidently said there was no murmur at all. He immediately offered to perform the surgery and gave me the price on the spot. $500. Total. Including overnight stay, biopsy, and medication. I was stunned. And furious. After being told my cat had a heart murmur, after being pushed into unnecessary tests ($1,700), after being quoted thousands ($3,000 plus) for a basic procedure... another vet told me the exact opposite and charged a fraction of the price. Mind you this was the price 7 years ago. I walked away feeling completely misled. Fellow Yelpers, be forewarned: don't let friendly interactions fool you.

The vet tech asked questions about him and then dr. Niu came in to check on him. Dr. Niu recommended some procedures and food items to take home. But of course with a price.
