When the services were done (halfhearted antibiotics administration and then a referral back to our family veterinarian), I was in the car with our dog and tried to swap with my daughter where she brought the kittens back to the car so I could go in to pay and they said they couldn't "release" my daughter until I paid (???) I've been to a dozen veterinarians and this is SO weird; they never have a problem with things like this when they know you're out in the car. Anyway, the office person suddenly calls me, I gave her my card and it declined. I called my wife and she immediately transferred the funds. I called my daughter to tell them to charge the card I gave them since she was still in there. Daughter comes out so I assumed they "released" her because she said she gave them my message and then as I'm backing out, the office person comes running out in a dramatic panic and treated me like a total deadbeat trying to skip out on the bill. Mind you we've done ***TWO*** end-of-life procedures here totaling well over $2,000 which makes me a ***reliable customer*** so this mistrust over a $300 charge was wildly awkward. Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more We arrived at VEG with our dog after he was bitten by another dog and had a significant wound on his leg. We stood at the entrance ringing the bell for five minutes before anyone even let us inside. Once inside, we waited approximately 40 minutes, watching other patients being attended to while no one checked on our dog. Eventually, someone examined him and then simply texted us an estimate for approximately $2,300. No one came over to explain the charges or discuss the recommended treatment with us. When I reviewed the estimate, I saw $400 listed as miscellaneous charges and another $350 for stitches--even though we were subsequently told that our dog didn't actually need stitches. At that point, we decided to leave. We immediately drove to VRCC Medical Hospital, where the difference was remarkable. They took care of our dog immediately. The doctor personally came out, examined the wound, and reached a very different conclusion from the medical technician at VEG regarding the treatment he needed. And here's the real kicker: even with stitches and all of the treatment our dog actually received, our bill at VRCC was roughly one-third of VEG's $2,300 estimate. Based on our experience, VEG gave us the impression that the focus was more on generating revenue than providing compassionate, appropriate care for our pet. Do yourself and your pet a favor: skip VEG and drive down the road to a real veterinary hospital. You'll likely get better care, a doctor's evaluation, and save yourself a considerable amount of money.

The old management team and doctors were the most amazing people we have ever encountered helping our pets. They were hands-on and genuinely loving and caring to the animals as well as the owners and they didn't overcharge or over bill. During the Covid season, our family had to put down one of our dogs. The vets were the absolute kindest and allowed us and our masks on to be in the room. A new team of doctors and management has taken over I am not at all pleased. They did tests on one of our dogs without talking to us first as to what tests would be done and at what cost. I walked out with an extremely high bill. I was told I could have a free check up in one week and they found something else to charge me for without even asking again and then wanted to throw a shot for $70 for who knows what and then more pills to take. They do tests and they do not tell you how much the tests are. I'm very disappointed in the direction that Blue Spruce animal clinic has gone because we really did trust the previous doctors.

Dr. Thaeder, Dr, Martic, Dr. Schultz, Alexis, Sam, Becca, Kim, (and several others I'm undoubtedly forgetting) saved our dog in the most impressive, transparent, and compassionate way that I never knew existed. We witnessed every step of the process to diagnose and restore our dog's health. If you want to stay all night with your pet, you can. If you want to watch their x-rays, they have a window for that. If your pet needs an operation, you can observe that from a window if you want. If you need a private room, there are several. Apart from the deep knowledge and passion these vets clearly have, they treated our dog like a member of their own family and he clearly fell in love with them. He's already getting back to his ornery self each day, and we are so grateful!

The pricing was not nearly as bad as I expected, honestly pretty similar to what his primary vet would have charged for the same services. Dr. Pierce was very good about sitting down to explain options and providing clear guidance about what he thought would be best. Our 3.5 year old serval cat was hit by a vehicle in Gatlinburg. He was badly injured with blunt force trauma to the head and face, lacerations on his back, all four paws badly abraded and unknown internal injuries. We were at a loss as we did NOT have a vet and didn't have a way to get him in a crate. Silas wasn't socialized as a kitten so we took him on as no one else would. He is not a mean cat, just quite anxious. Silas was a replacement kitty as our first cat died in the Gatlinburg fires -- Silas has a special place. Although we cannot hold him we can pet him. I called many vets that day and was frustrated by the answers I received. WE REALLY NEEDED HELP AND NOONE SEEMED TO CARE. (It took 2 days to get Silas into a carrier) Finally, I called AESC and knew after talking for less than a minute that this is where we were taking Silas. When we arrived at AESC the staff quickly got Silas to an exam room and within 2 minutes Dr Rutherford appeared. He addressed Silas' pain immediately, (he had been hurting for 2 days), and had x-rays completed in minutes. The doctor listened, was knowledgeable and we discussed the possibilities with respect to the surgery Silas needed. His jaw was broken in 2 places and he had additional superficial injuries as well that would heal by themselves over time. The surgery went well and we continue to care for Silas at home. He was discharged the same day as the surgery. So grateful to have found this clinic. Hopefully we will not need emergency services again. But in the event we do, we know exactly where we will be taking Silas. And that knowledge in and of itself is reassuring as we haven't had any place that we felt comfortable taking him. They emailed me back first thing Monday morning, providing information. They followed up with a text to see if I wanted to move forward and when I said yes they called. I was able to get in next day! The evening before I set up my portal account and sent my pups records. On appt day, we were greeted so warmly, like they already knew us, and placed us into a private room. I had a nice chat with a vet tech while she asked questions, and 5 mins later we were with the Dr! He sat on the floor with my nervous pup, got to know us and then took her back for assessment. He avoided intrusive procedures, rather offering less expensive alternatives and gave an over all heath assessment. They checked me out and the cost was very reasonable. While on my way home, they texted lab results that my pup was healthy and good to go! I am so happy I found Hess Ridge. Blood gushing, rushing to get luggage & find urgent care nearby. Was traumatic since we are not familiar with this area for emergency dog services. Thank goodness for 24/7 availability, the wonderful Dr. Iris Schaitkin and her incredible staff went above and beyond to put me at ease and immediately analyze, x-ray, applies stitches, etc. All explained to me calmly and in detail. Fortunately mostly paw pad and skin - no broken bones or removed toes/digits. Discharged with antibiotics and painkiller. Receipts, summary pdfs emailed immediately. Followed up in two days to refresh bandages and double check in injury. Good results: Healing well! So grateful and blessed to have found CVSG & HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We were referred to CVSG for an urgent surgery needing to be performed on our pup and no local…read morespecialists were available for several days and he didn't have that long. Our Internal Medicine specialist referred us here and had spoken with them earlier and they were ready for him whenever we got there. He and I drove up from New Mexico and arrived in the middle of the night (about 1:30am). Everyone we spoke with was super kind and the doctor on call was knowledgeable, patient, and explained everything to us and what we could expect. While the overnight receptionist made for a very bumpy experience in getting deposits and being able to explain what I was signing, everything else about our visit here was nothing short of fantastic and our boy would not be here if it wasn't for them. He went into surgery later that morning and while they did forget to call us before they went in, I spoke with the surgeon afterwards who shared all the details of how everything went. He was hospitalized for several days and the morning and evening updates along with daily visits I had a lot of interaction with the staff. There were a few times when I was visiting him where I felt like they may have forgotten about me but they do get extremely busy when multiple emergencies arrive. Every single doctor was nothing short of amazing. Dr. Bush, Dr. McEntire, Dr. Wigley, Dr. Sender, and Dr. Ineson - thank you doesn't seem to be enough to express how grateful I am for the care that was provided. It wasn't cheap but I didn't feel that their prices were gougy in the slightest when compared to other emergency vet care places.
