Tried on my wetsuit today and SUPER SUPER HAPPY THAT IT KEPT ME WARM BOTH MY SUIT AND BOOTIES! Huge THANK YOU TO the guy who helped me out because I am a big chicken when it's cold I honestly hate CA beaches being freezing cold so I need the thick suits! It was challenging to get in and out of but well worth the hassle At first I was torn between a cute design or being practical and in the end I'm glad I got the wetsuit perfect for winter weather because it's always cold for me anyway! Also bought some booties and other cool stuff. I plan to come back for more stuff because I absolutely LOVE this place! They've got the cutest swim suits and accessories. It's a shopping heaven for beach lovers and I definitely found my place. I'll also take surf lessons here and super excited to do it finally! Brands like Airwalk, L.A. Gear, Rugged Outback... Yeah, I was the coolest kid in school back in the 90's... Ha! Sadly, like most of the iconic businesses from my youth, Payless ShoeSource filed for bankruptcy and the famous footwear brand went under. Besides the cool shoes that I could pick out on my own... What I loved most about Payless... (Or should I say what my mom or dad who were paying loved most)... Was.... The infamous B.O.G.O offer: Yeah!!! The Buy One, Get One for 50% off deal!!! Aww yes, the good 'ol' days! --------------------- Fast forward 30 years... And now, I am a parent, a Dad who now has the honor to buy shoes for my own, three beautiful daughters as they gear up for the school year. But sadly there's no Payless ShoeSource to be found. ------------------- Enter the DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse!!! Yeah, things have changed a lot since the 90's. Now, instead of shopping at a small-box shoe store with maybe 6 aisles of footwear... We enter the Big-Box shoe warehouse with aisles and aisles of every style of shoe you can think of. But if you're looking for those cool "skater" Airwalks or those Rugged Outback work boots like I used to rock in the 90's pretending I was in Timbaland's crew... You ain't gonna find 'em. Like I said, things have changed! Instead of shopping off-brand shoe brands that back in my day were able to hold their own on the playground... My kids are getting name-brand shoes that I just pray stay clean enough to last them the entirety of the school year. And let's not start on the comparison of prices then vs now. The Nikes you want are how much?? You are 5 and going into Kindergarten girl! But hey, that's life! #GirlDad In all seriousness, DSW is THE place to get all the latest and greatest footwear brands all in one place. And for the WHOLE family too! Then he offered me a few dollars break on a pair that fit but I wasn't crazy about, just under $200. I told him I'd like to think about it and if I would be able to get the same deal if I came back. He got an attitude and told me only if I came back the same day. Boy bye. Your inventory wasn't good. I went somewhere else and bought 3 pairs of shoes. I'm done with this place.

Instead, they only offered store credit. That makes absolutely no sense when the return was caused by their mistake. I did not change my mind about the shoes--they handed me the wrong pair. Why would I want store credit at a store that already proved it cannot handle a basic purchase correctly? Giving me credit only forces me to spend my money there again, which is the last thing I want to do after this experience. The manager, Jan, made the situation even worse. They were rude, dismissive, and acted like they could not understand a very simple explanation. I had to repeat myself several times, and the conversation felt like I was trying to explain basic customer service to a teenager. Instead of listening and taking responsibility, Jan kept talking in circles and showed no real interest in solving the problem. A competent manager should understand that when the store gives a customer the wrong product, the customer should not be punished for it. Jan showed no accountability, no empathy, and no ability to handle a straightforward return professionally. Their attitude made it clear that keeping my money was more important than treating a customer fairly. This is a no-name shoe store acting like it is some luxury boutique, but the service does not come close to matching the attitude. People would honestly be better off going to Payless. At least there, you would probably get the shoes you actually asked for and deal with employees who understand basic communication. The entire experience felt cheap, disorganized, and unprofessional. They made the mistake, refused to correct it properly, and then treated me like I was the problem. I would not recommend this store to anyone. Check every item before you leave, because once they have your money, they apparently do not care whether they gave you the correct product.

Malibu Lumber Yard is like a girl that used to be hot in high school, got strung out on meth after…read moregraduation, and has been sober and getting her life back together for the past few years. It still looks like a nice building, but most of the units are vacant, the common area is missing some of the nicer decorations it had in the past (e.g., fishtanks, plants, etc.), and there is hardly any foot traffic. Hopefully they bounce back and get some tenants that will breathe some new life into the place, but based on how many people left and didn't come back after the fires earlier this year and how slow the rest of the city is recovering, it could be a while before we see any real improvement here.

When I returned to the store to process a return, the experience was disappointing. The associate inspected the pants, smelled them, and stated they had been washed, then refused the return. This was both uncomfortable and frustrating, especially since the items were simply tried on for fit at home and not worn. I understand that stores have policies in place, but the handling of this situation felt unnecessarily dismissive. A more professional and customer-focused approach would have gone a long way. Most customers won't take the time to leave a review--they'll simply choose not to return. With so many convenient online options available, in-store experiences need to justify the trip.
