A used prophylactic on the floor, that my dog then sat on.
Housekeeping staffing waiting to use elevators (to service or turn rooms), who didn't even speak to you. Or acknowledge you, but would block the entire hallway.
Staff was sweet. But inconsistent.
They charge an amenity fee, which includes access to tours at a discount. Which sounds amazing. Until you try to use it. Day shift front desk sends you away with a flyer, look at this, and you can book what you want. Cool. Except one QR code is broken, one the front desk has to do for you (and there are no prices - so you don't know what the discount is) and the third one, you could actually book. So 1 for 3, which is solid in baseball, but not in customer service. So when you go back to the front desk about the other two that you cannot book, they literally say, it takes too much time, please come back tomorrow at 0700! I'm sorry what!?! Top 10 hotel!?! Are you kidding me? Gold badge, of what!?!
The valet/door staff was sometimes there. I stayed for five nights. Day 1, always opening the door and greeting me, day 2 mostly opening the door, day 3 no where to be found all day and when they were at the podium they were (clutch my pearls) on their personal phone and ear pods, day 4 - wait there was a door staff... day 5 are you checking in ? I'm returning thank you (and I have seen you every day that you have worked here)
Housekeeping, allegedly offers turn down service: which makes sense because the one day (out of five) that I was in my room and declined service... it was 6pm!!! I had been out all day. They had all day to service the room. And yet, really 6pm!?! What kinda organization, management is tht?
If you book, ask these questions.
1) is there a wedding or event during my stay? If there is, just book somewhere else. My lady and I had envisioned a lovely romantic evening in our room. And maybe some adult beverages in the bar/patio area. Well, the events take over all open public spaces including the lobby, and the noise well it travels far and wide. The volume of dj, screaming children and drinking hollering-- killed our romantic vibe. We were on a high floor. And it reached our room, until 11pm. And we heard the sheer volume in the elevator shaft staring in the 4th floor to the ground floor. This is not a relaxing chill or romantic vibe.
2) ask what floor you'll be on. This is important. I was initially on the second floor. The room was dark, over looked a wooden fence that enclosed the hvac and was noisy, it was also a small room. The only hotel room in comparison that was as dungeonesk was the mgm sub terrain room. I asked for a higher level floor and it felt twice as big. With an actual sitting area and real light coming into the room.
For dogs:
They have dog beds and dog bowls, which I love!! But, no help on where to walk your dog in this urban environment or any place to put poop bags (just the open lobby trash bin...). So since they won't, I'll help a friend out. The best spot to walk the dog is, leave the hotel, go to the right toward 14th st, continue along Rhode Island until you get to Logan Circle. There is a lovely green area there a you'll meet some new friends who are also walking their dogs or reading books.
The good. It's a short list

I feel like there is false advertising about the accolades they claim and the reality of the hotel. Would I recommend this hotel. Not at this time, the inconsistency is where the challenge is. There is the challenge at the hotel of guest satisfaction vs profit and they are still trying to work out what is most important to them right now. read more
